.Oh Kit, I just wanted to reach through my book and smack those cop partners of yours. Oh my word honey I was wearing that frustration with you! I appreciate the hunky nerdy Forest Ranger. I hate that it pointed out to me I must be a tad prejudice because I felt a little uncomfortable with Wes. I would reread this book again, and I don't read too many books twice. This is book 4 in the series. It appears to be the closer for the series, but that is just my opinion, I have no facts. Thank you Sourcebooks, NetGalley and author Katie Ruggle for the opportunity to read this arc I recommend this to one and all! You can read it without reading books 1-3. I think if you do that you will s hare in Kits frustration, being the newbie, seeing all the side glances, etc. Feel her pain so to speak.
Great plot! Thanks again,

Spooky prologue.

Hate to break it to you, but there's at least one psycho running around this "adorable hamlet".

He's a cute nerd. But I couldn't do that much math if you paid me, especially at seven in the morning.

It's so disturbing when you hear that the culprit is usually watching the response to their crime.

Oh dear, Jules. Methinks that you should be less trusting about who you let into your house.

The dog is cute.

Wes is adorably awkward.

Wow. Just wow.

Omigod, these men are idiots. The dog is not the problem, boys!

Alice in Wonderland is soo creepy.

Why no one would tell her about Courtney is beyond me.

This is a nice date, even if she was accidentally sprung on him.

Surprise twist with the psycho.

I feel bad for Mr. Espina.

Oh, now everyone's being nice to her. after she saved their butts. Never mind that she knew who the bad guy was all along.

After leaving her last unit under less than ideal terms, K-9 officer Kit Jernigan is hoping for a new start in a new town. Only she discovers that the other K-9 officers are a tight-knit group who don't trust easily. When she has a suspicion as to who the culprit of the latest crime in town was, the only person who believes her is fire spotter Wesley March.

I enjoyed Kit and Wes together. They are both outsiders looking in when it comes to the town. Unlike other people, Kit doesn't view Wes as being strange or as being a loner. She respects his work and the things he created, including a robotic surveillance cat. Wes respects Kit and appreciates the work she puts in to solving crime, and he trusts her instincts, which the others don't seem to do.

Kit is great with Sam, teaching the teenager how to work with dogs and teaching them how to track. Sam is awkward with a stuttering problem, but Kit takes her time and is patient with him.

I was a little disappointed with how distrusting the other K-9 officers were of Kit, as they dismiss her theory of who was behind the crimes. Instead of listening to her and the evidence, they refuse to even entertain her idea just because it came from her and she was the new officer. I understand the hesitation based on what has previous happened in the town, but they should have at least taken her suggestions into consideration.

I've enjoyed all the books I've read by Katie Ruggle, and this is no exception. Fans of romantic suspense shouldn't miss this one.

I love this series set in the CO Rockies and featuring the members of a K9 unit in an isolated mountain village where bad things seem to happen with amazing regularity. One of the things that drew me to the series was the interactions of the main characters with their K9 partners. So many romances I've read just use the dog as window dressing, but that's not the case with this series. There are extended scenes with Kit, the heroine, and her dog, Justice, actually working and training. I also loved that the K9 officer was a woman and her dog was an adorable bloodhound, not the usual German shepherd.

This is the fourth book in the series and although I think it could be read as a stand-alone, there's a running plot point throughout the series that gets resolved in this book relating to the heroine of the first book so it's probably best to read at least that one first. The thing that tied the earlier books together was that all of the heroines were helped to escape difficult/dangerous situations by the same man, and they are all sent to this small mountain town and become friends. While they are hiding out, bad things tend to happen when they are tracked down. As a result, this little town has been attacked and various buildings have been burnt or blown up by various people tracking them or the K9 officers that they've gotten involved with.

When Kit, the heroine of this book, arrives in town she's rather shocked at the destruction (she first interviewed before everything started blowing up) and she's missing a lot of the key facts about what has happened. In a way this actually helps her because on her first day in town, there's an arson fire and a dead body is discovered in the wreckage. Kit is just about the only person in town, who keeps an open mind about possible suspects and actually examines the evidence instead of just making assumptions based on past events. While this is happening, she also meets Wes, the hero, a sweet, geeky, bearded mountain man who is has trouble interacting with people socially and who works as a fire spotter in an isolated mountain tower. Their romance was adorable and I only wish that there had been a bit more emphasis on it instead of on tying up loose ends in the series. Although I enjoyed the sense of completion, I did feel like Wes and Kit's romance was a bit cheated. Still, this was a great end to the series and I'm looking forward to the author's next book, which is set in the same area but features a different storyline and characters.

Through the Fire is book 4 in the series but takes a slightly different trop than the previous books. Kit isn't one of the girls Mr. Espina saved. She is a K9 officer who takes a job in Monroe. The first person she meets is Wes, the fire service lookout. These two are adorable! Wes is certainly a beta hero and I found his awkwardness so endearing. Kit and Wes are both outsiders. Kit's suspicion of what is going on in the tiny town only further her status as outsider. But, she is a good person and a great cop. The action centers more around the other town newcomer, Elena, and Jules (from book 1) and her siblings.

I enjoyed getting back into this world and getting some resolution to Jules' story. I felt that at times, Kit and Wes were more a vehicle for a conclusion to Jules story which was disappointing. They are such wonderful characters it would have been good to have more focus on them. However, for anyone who is invested in the series like I am, this book is delightful. I am assuming its the final book in the series, so I would have liked an epilogue, but overall, an enjoyable. read.

Katie Ruggle has done it again. Great Book! I received this book as an ARC copy for my honest review.

Kit has moved to Monroe to start over and so has Elena. One wants to start a new chapter in her life and forget the past, the other has different plans. Wes is the fire lookout people in town think he is a little strange but Kit thinks he is great just the way he is. With the way the last year has gone in Monroe can this little town in the mountains take another hit.

This series just keeps getting better. Although I have absolutely no desire to visit Monroe any time soon!!

After being in a reading slump for weeks this was a breath of fresh air and I raced through the book.

The book opens with a woman called Alex killing a woman called Elena and stealing her identity before setting the house on fire to cover up her crimes.

Kit is a K9 police officer. After reporting her former partner for dishonest behaviour she was ostracised and has decided to make a new start in the small town of Monroe. After the cataclysmic events of the last book Monroe looks like a scene from a post-apocalyptic movie, complete with burnt out police station. She is just getting acquainted with her new colleagues (Theo, Otto and Hugh from the three previous books in the series) when they are called to a house fire. Although the owners have left Monroe for the winter the firefighters find a charred body in the wreckage.

This is another great suspense from Katie Ruggle. The reader knows that Elena is not who she seems and a killer to boot but the rest of Monroe seems taken in by her scared and helpless act, except Kit. There's also a hunky, nerdy mountain ranger who creates gadgets in his spare time. Oh and lots and lots of beautiful clever dogs. What more could anyone want?

This appears to be the end of the series and what a satisfying end it turned out to be!

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Through the fire

Wow. Dude. Wow. This was a good one. I’m pretty sure it’s the conclusion of the series as everything storyline was tied up with a great big bow.

Kit moves to Monroe after being shunned at her last precinct for being a whistleblower. Kit’s K-9, Justice, is a big drooly adorable bloodhound.

I love Wes. He’s a socially awkward genius (autistic?)

Kit training Sam and Fifi was awesome.

I wish the guys would have trusted her more.

I feel bad for Mr. Espina.

Tio and Ty’s excitement in the tower was great, I would have loved to see more of that.

I really hope this isn’t the last book, but if it is I wouldn’t be surprised.

Having read all the book in the Rocky Mountain Series this was a fun way to see the town of Monroe though an outsiders eyes. Katie Ruggle creates wonderful characters and a town that will come to life even when story blows up an entire town. While this is a stand alone novel each and every story ties into each other this one you will need to read only after reading book 1-3.

The Author is able to tie all 4 stories together using romance, action and mystery that readers will love.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher Casablanca for the advance copy of Katie Ruggle's Through The Fire.

This is a must read series for romantic suspense readers.

Such a good book, the killer and arsonists identity kept me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't believe how suspicious everyone was of Wes though. He is such a sweet guy, although a hermit. Its sad to see the town is still shaken from the events of the explosions from the last book. Another great book by Katie Ruggle.

This one, for me, was more of a 3.5 star rating. Having only read one of the previous 3 books in the series, I felt at times confused with the cast of secondary characters.
The book centers around K-9 deputy Kit Jernigan, newly hired to force in Monroe. Her introduction to the new town was less than friendly . Since her visit for her interview, the town has suffered great devastations.
Kit is a strong character and her love interest, Wes, the fire spotter in the forest, is nerdy , brilliant and very lovable.
Her co-workers, main characters in the previous books, don’t seem to trust her. That was a turn off, since they were heroes in previous books.
The plot was engaging, and mostly dealt with the mystery and less with the romance.
The best part was the last 1/4 of the book and the final chapter wrapping up the story and the series.
That said, the cover does NOT depict the story. Kit is a gal and the cover shows a male character.
I was entrusted this copy by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This is the story of Kit Jernigan and Wesley March. Kit is a K9 cop and moves to the small town who has been through tragedy and finds it hard to trust a newcomer. When a killer strike she who is responsible but her k9 team doesn't believe her.

Wes is a fire watcher in a tower and he believes in Kit and what she knows. He leaves his tower to help her prove it. They spend time together and sparks fly but also danger is following them.

Can Kit convince her fellow officers who the killer is before more lives are lost?

This is an amazing story I loved it. We got to catch up with characters from previous books plus meet knew ones. I loved watching the relationship between Wes and Kit start and grow. The chemistry feels real. I really reccomend that you check this out I have been waiting for this book to come out was so glad I got an ARC from Netgalley to read and also share my reveiw about this amazing story.

I think I'm half in love with Wes! This was a sweet romance with a bad guy who dogs under everyone's radar but our heroine and her K9. And the motive...I never saw it coming. There is nothing not to love about this book. A brave determined heroine and her K9, a hero who is beyond dreamy and a bad guy whose really bad all makes for a great read.

This is book 4 in the Rocky Mountain K9 series. It's about new K9 officer Kit Jernigan and fire spotter Wesley March. Kit has moved to Monroe after going through a bad time with her previous police station. She knows it will be tough to not only fit into a small community but also to prove that she is a capable officer and can be trusted as back up. Wes has been the local fire spotter for years. He normally keeps to himself and most of Monroe thinks he is a strange man and really know nothing personal about him. But after a chance meeting between Kit and Wes, neither can keep their minds off the other. And when things keep happening that point to someone Kit's new team knows, she now has to work even harder to not only to make herself part of this town but to prove she is capable.

This was another great one in this series. I love how Kit and her K9 are introduced. I definitely loved how her and Wes interact with each other, along with how their relationship develops. Wes cracked me up with the things he thinks about and the things he does. He is definitely different but in a way that makes you love him. He and Kit just fit together. They are like puzzle pieces that just needed the other to be complete. The only thing I didn't like was the way it left things with a character that has been (in my opinion) integral in all the other books. He isn't a main character but he helped change so many things for the women in the previous books that I really hope that there is a story at some point with a HEA for him. I felt horrible for him. Absolutely horrible. I definitely loved how things ended for the rest of the characters, and that there is closure for some that thoroughly deserved it, I don't want to say more because it will spoil it, and it is well worth waiting to read it yourself! On whole, another great read by this author!

Through the Fire introduces us to Kit Jernigan and her K9 Justice. Justice is a bloodhound and thus is perfectly suited to be a tracker. Kit is the new girl in town and only female cop. Wesley March, local fire spotter, tech genius and borderline hermit is smitten with Kit from first glance. Kit and Justice have their work cut out for them trying to fit in and assuring her brothers in blue she has their back.
I really liked Kit and found Wes awkwardly adorable. I liked that the author showed us how rambunctious bloodhounds are and how much training goes into keeping them on point. This book was full of resolutions and new possibilities. I really enjoyed it.

With his enormous bulk and shaggy beard, she hadn’t expected him to be so wonderfully dorky. He was like a nerdy, math-loving Sasquatch.
And just like that, I fell in love with Wes in the first chapter.

I also loved Kit for her fierce independence and strength despite all the nonsense thrown at her by the bad guy, the wacky town, and the other K9 officers. Bonus points: she's half-Korean! About time this tiny arson, murder, and bomb-attracting town got some diversity.

Sadly, while Kit and Wes may end up my favorite Rocky Mountain K9 couple, their story was definitely not my favorite. This should not be read as a standalone because Theo, Otto, and Hugh come across as dismissive, hazing jerks for most of Kit's introduction to the Monroe police force. Even as someone who read the earlier books and understood that the guys were trying to protect their girlfriends' secrets, it was annoying and exasperating how the guys constantly dismissed Kit or shut her out of police business, making her feel even more isolated.

Luckily, Kit has her adorable police bloodhound, Justice, and is also instantly drawn to Wes, hermit fire tower lookout guy, possible Aspie, and tech inventor extraordinaire. While Wes is painfully aware of his social limitations, he really shined in how strong and supportive he was for Kit. Wes consciously reminding himself to let Kit do her job and trusting her to do it well was the best kind of secondary competence porn.
The urge to go with her, to protect her, filled him, but he shoved it down. He needed to help her by following her orders. If he let his instinct to keep her safe at all costs take over, he’d just get in her way—and that might get both of them killed.

More than that, Wes just worships Kit and revels in every thing about her.

As he studied her, he felt a now-familiar warmth bloom in his chest. Although they hadn’t spent much time together yet—certainly not as much time as he wanted—Kit always seemed to get him. In the past, so many people had misinterpreted what he’d said or meant or felt, but Kit usually understood right off the bat. He was suddenly and intensely glad that she’d moved to Monroe.

Kit and Wes' relationship takes a back seat to the murderous happenings in Monroe but as always, it is never boring in this tiny hamlet of mayhem. It was great to visit Jules and the kids as well as Sarah and Grace, but again, Theo, Otto, and Hugh didn't come across as likable as they did in their own books. Hopefully, there will be another installment in which the guys can redeem themselves or at least give Kit and Wes more screen time.

Who couldn't love a slightly drooling, lovable hero...and that's just the dog.

His handler Kit is a newbie to town, and finding it hard to be the person looking in. She moved to get away from a tense work environment in her Wisconsin hometown, and is finding Monroe, CO to be slightly tense itself. Her partners are hiding something and keeping her away from an arson/Murder investigation that led her tracking K-9 partner to question another newbie in town. Only problem is this Newbie is friends with another Cops girl. Kit struggles with being suspicious and feeling on her own as the investigation heats up.

Meanwhile she meets a charmingly awkward Wes who is a local fire-spotter and genius. While most of the town doesn't know how to relate to Wes Kit begins to realize hes a great partner to have her back.

This town is not stranger to abrupt fire and chaos and while Kit tries to convince her fellow cops to trust her it seems their significant others are in the middle of the mystery.

I loved the way this played out and that Kit was a capable female lead cop who while struggling with certain aspects never really jumped to conclusions and was willing to understand the need for certain secrets. She also wasn't bitter about the troubles she went through, and was amazing with the kids and Wes.

Wes himself was a great character. I loved that he was slightly socially awkward and that he wasn't a traditional Alpha. He had his own alpha tendencies and was a great partner to Kit without overshadowing her or making her seem incapable. He trusted her which is a hard thing to write into an alpha Male.

I received a copy of this via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

What a another wonderful book in the series. This one has Kit. a new K9 cop moving to the small town Colorado, and meeting up with a big and hairy Wes, the local fire watcher. Really enjoyed this one, and although it is not needed to read the other books, it does tie up a lot of the past history in this one. Fast paced and lots of great characters. Highly recommend this book, author and series.

I received an arc from Netgalley. I love this author and while I found it hard to stay focused during this story I did enjoy it. It was frustrating when the new cop came to town and Kit felt there were a lot of secrets being kept from her. While she meets the quirky Wes and falls in unexpected love she also is in search of an arsonist and killer who was closer than expected.
Great read and will definitely read more by this author.

Kit Jernigan has taken a job as a police office in the small town of Monroe. Kit comes to town with her K9 dog Justice. When she arrives in town it has changed a lot since her interview. The police station is a burnt wreck and several other buildings in town have been destroyed. The local police treat her with suspicion and Kate is wondering if she’s made a mistake taking the job in this little town. On her first day there is a fire and a body is discovered in the ruins. Kate has her suspicions about another new arrival in town but no one is interested in listening. Wes is a forest ranger who rarely comes into town, but when he and Kate meet there is an attraction.

There is suspense and romance in this book. Wes was a different character, likable, but I thought that he could be on the autism spectrum. He had trouble relating to people and didn’t really know how to act around people. This book is part of a series but it could be read as a stand alone. I knew from the beginning who the villain was but I still wanted to find out how they exposed the person. Thank you to net galley for an advanced copy of this book.
