3.5 STARS! I really enjoyed Melt for You by J.T. Geissinger. I just love this author’s writing and simply LOVED Cameron McGregor, our hero/playboy athlete.

Cam turned out to be a lot more than I expected. When we first meet this tattooed Scottish rugby player, he is the annoying neighbor across the hall playing obnoxiously loud music bringing home a different girl every night. Joellen makes a deal with him… no more loud music and she will cook him dinner every night.

What starts off as an awkward friendship of sorts turns into more as Cam helps Joellen with her confidence by showing her how to work out and take better care of herself for the man of her dreams aka the CEO of her company Michael. Joellen has been in love with him for 10 years despite him being married and despite never really saying a word to him. I want to pause here and say that I didn’t really love Joellen. She is socially awkward but more than that, she just seemed so clueless about everything and she drove me a little crazy with how unknowing she seemed to be. After reading the author’s afterward, I felt bad for feeling the way I did about her honestly and it made me see her in a different light.

What Joellen failed to see was how much Cam cared about her and appreciated her for who she was… not wanting her to change but liking her biting words and funny conversations just the way they were. And I loved watching the playboy fall… le sigh… he was simply dreamy!

So how does it all work out—well, I am not going to tell you! But I will say that Joellen got the better man in all the ways <3

I didn’t love this book as much as others I have read by this author but I truly think it was because of the heroine because I LOVED our hero in this book—that cocky, sexy Scottish brogue and kilt get me every time!!!

This book was awesome. I really enjoyed it. I laughed a lot through this one.
I absolutely adored Cameron. He was not only hot as hell, he was so very sweet and determined to make Joellen believe she’s beautiful.
I did like Joellen, but at times I was really frustrated with her because she was so clueless.
Overall, this is a great book that will melt your heart and I would recommend people who love slow burn romance books to read it.

From the sexy cover to the captivating synopsis, J.T. Geissinger has completely outdone herself in Melt For You. Having read the previous book in the series, I couldn’t wait to read the next book and it didn’t disappoint at all. The author has managed to create a charming story filled with swoon worthy moments that will leave you wanting for more.

At the beginning of the story we are introduced to Joellen Bixby, a thirty-six-year-old copyeditor who has been working for Maddox Publishing for the last ten years. She has also been in love with her boss and CEO, Michael Maddox for that long. Although she is socially awkward, Joellen wants to get her boss to notice her but doesn’t know how and that frustrates her. It’s when she gets back to her apartment one day that Joellen comes to a stop when she hears very loud music coming from her neighbor’s apartment. She walks up to the apartment and comes face-to-face with a very handsome stranger who happens to have a very sexy Scottish accent. The spell immediately crashes the minute he starts to bicker with her and he tells her that he will stop with his music if she cooks for him return. They make a bargain of some sorts and when he finds out that Joellen has been wanting to get her boss’ attention he is willing to help her. It is through Michael that she finds out who her neighbor really is.

Cameron McGregor ends up being the captain of a rugby team called the Red Devils. Although he is well known, Cameron has been on the papers lately and not for good reasons. This concerns Michael and he tells Joellen to be careful and to not trust Cameron. She knows that her neighbor is bad news, but he has offered to be there for her and spending time together has definitely made Joellen see him in a new light. What I loved about the story was how entertaining it was and all the heavy banter that they have is sizzling. Although they have fantastic chemistry, Joellen is set on getting her boss’ attention and love. She has viewed herself as the ugly duckling in her family and not being in a relationship at her age makes everyone around her see her differently. She has a lot of self-esteemed issues that she needs to overcome and Cameron is there to remind her that it’s okay to be herself no matter what other people think of her. In the end she has to decide if she truly wants Michael or if giving Cameron a shot is worth it or not.

As I mentioned before, I truly loved reading this story it was sweet and charming. Cameron is swoon worthy and just the perfect guy that anyone would want to have. He loves bickering with Joellen and causing trouble, which made things that much more fun to read. There is a big issue of self-esteem that the author handled very well and this empowered Joellen to be who she wanted to be in the end. We also be to find out more about Cameron and what brought him to New York. It’s evident from the very start that both of the characters have issues to overcome and it all ends up tying really well in the end. There are a bit of twists and turns as well, but I wish the author could have added more details towards the end. There were a few issues that felt unresolved to me that could have made the book that much better. I would highly recommend reading this book, it was lovable and swoon worthy, a definite must-read for sure. :)

So...I didn't know this was a slow burn. Though the series is LITERALLY called SLOW BURN. Well, I guess that one flew over my head, but I'm glad I didn't give it a second thought because I devoured this story!

Cam has ruined me with all of his Scottish hotness and those tender moments with Joellen. *heart eyes*
I laughed (their banter was everythingggggg), I swooned, I got a bit frustrated (as one does with a slow burn romance) and then I did a little happy dance and got all giddy with that sweet HEA. This story also touched on the issue of body image and it couldn't have been written better. I loved it! Joellen kicks ass and I love her.

JT's books are always so much fun to read and I am always hooked till the very end! Can't wait to read more from her and please, please, please(!!!) give us more Cam!!

I loved this book. It was an amazing read. Funny, witty, with great interesting characters that are so different from each other that more cant be more different and lovely love story. Jollen is a dorky introvert cat loving person shy and awkward but everything changes when her neighbor become Cameron a very sexy Scottish rugby player. They start a mission to get Jollen in to shape and to help her get her long crush boss but they end up falling in love with each other. The story is amazing both Cameron and Jollen great character easy to fell in love. I loved their bickering and how they seem to see deep in each other soul and heart. This kind of book is my favorite and I loved reading every page of it. Recommended!
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly.

I really enjoyed this book, I adored Joellen and Cam. They were perfect for each other but I was starting to despair of Joellen realising it! I started getting a bad feeling about Michael about halfway through, he showed glimpses here and there of his true colours! So glad everything worked out in Joellen and Cam’s favour. I loved how he didn’t want to change Joellen and taught her to love herself! He was definitely a keeper! Can’t wait for the next book in this series!

I totally fell in love with J.T. Geissinger's writing and characters when I picked up Burn for You earlier this year. I couldn't wait to get my hands on Melt for You. It sounded fantastic and, unsurprisingly, it was. I loved it every bit as much as the first book. Now I just have to wait for the third one, which is several months away, but at least I have time to tackle her backlist now...

First off, I absolutely loved the characters. Jo was one of the most relatable heroines I've met in a long time. At times it felt like she was literally inside my head. I understood her struggles and her mindset. I also loved that she was an older heroine. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy reading romances about characters of all ages, but it's especially great when a character is closer to my age. I was Team Jo from the very start.

Oh, Cameron. He was basically heaven sent. What I wouldn't do for a hot, Scottish, rugby-playing neighbor... Cue all the swoons. Just imagining his words in that Scottish accent made me melt. While things between he and Jo started out a bit rocky, I loved the path of their relationship. Of course, I was cheering for them to be more than friends because the other guy Jo was interested in just seemed a bit too good to be true — I wasn't wrong — but I was still happy with their banter and everything else about when they were just friends. Cam made me swoon all over the place with the way he treated Jo and talked to her. Something about a man like him being so deep and sensitive and reassuring a woman who struggled with self-esteem and body issues that she's enough, MORE than enough, made my heart really happy.

I love a great slow burn romance and that's exactly what I got with Melt for You. There was a smidge of a love triangle, but it's not something that bothered me a bit. I always suspected that not only was Michael a total DB, but that she and Cam were endgame, too. They had too much chemistry not to be. Bottom line is I just loved everything about this book. It made me so smiley happy that I basically felt like I had turned into the heart eyes emoji while reading.

FAVORITE QUOTES

December in the mall is like The Hunger Games meets Lord of the Flies, completed with a reenactment of Death Race in the parking lot when you finally try to leave after twelve hours of spending money you don't have. Fun times.

Dear God, he's a Scotsman. A huge, half-naked Scotsman in a kilt. Smiling at me like he knows all my secrets, what color my panties are, and that I'm curious what it would be like to have a man pull my hair during sex.

"Ah, lassie. If it were anyone else but family who made you cry like this, they'd already be in an ambulance."

"Your body isn't a thing to be looked at and judged against some standard of perfection that doesn't even really exist. It's the vessel that takes you through life, allowin' you to experience all the beautiful things life has to offer."

"I'm gonna get you naked. Then I'm gonna make love to you. Then you're gonna tell me if you want it sweet and tender again, or if you want it dirty and hard."

I'm quickly coming not to be able to get enough of this author's work. Having discovered her only last year and swiftly reading her back catalogue, I'm left eagerly awaiting each new release.

Melt For You just continued my love of her work. It was an easy-going and positive book that put a smile on my face and kept me hooked. Cam and Joellen had a great connection and I loved the banter between them both. Cam especially captured my heart. He might have looked like a tough rugby player, but inside he was a big marshmallow and I loved him for how he built up Joellen. Together they grew and the chemistry built.

As for the plot, it was sweet, funny, and had the right amount drama. The only small complaint I have is a few loose ends weren't tied up--such as the issues with Cam. I would have liked a bit more resolve on that side of things. Other than that I just loved every second I was immersed in this world.

Overall, Melt For You was another great read. The characters drew me in and I'm sad it's over. I'll be looking out for the next release by this author.

I was pleasantly surprised by Burn for You, the first book in this series last year, and have been eagerly waiting to read more from this author. I couldn't wait to start Melt for You and what a delight it was. Here are 3 reasons why you should pick up Melt For You.

1. It has a lovable heroine

Melt for You has a funny, feisty and very relatable heroine. Joellen is a 30+ woman who has been in love with her boss for the longest time. She thinks that she desperately needs to shed some pounds, is awkward as hell and lives with a grumpy cat. There are lots of shades to Joellen's character and I have to say, I enjoyed every facet of her persona. She definitely had some self-esteem issues stemming from being the ugly duckling of her family. Though she tries not to let her issues to get to her, it does take her a while to realize what a lovely person she is. Joellen is also funny as hell, and she'll have you cackling throughout the book. She was just so easy to warm up to.

2. OOF THE HERO! <3

Oh man! Cameron has to be one of my favorite romance heroes in a long time. He was just so swoony and great and had me melting into a puddle goo. Oh and he's Scottish! What a charming guy he was! OK, I have to admit that I wasn't entirely into him at first. He seemed like a fuckboi, but the guy totally grew on me. I loved how he pushed Joellen to see herself for the fabulous woman she was. The guy is so positive and endearing - it was easy to forgive his manwhorish ways.

3. The slowest of slow-burn romances

I'm such a sucker for a good slow-burn romance, and J.T Geissinger captured everything I love about them in Melt for You. Joellen and Cameron don't start off on the right foot because he's a terrible neighbor. Their relationship slowly evolves into a comfortable friendship, and then into more. The banter between them was A+, and the chemistry was even better. I couldn't wait for them together, and the author makes all that waiting worth the while. Cameron and Joellen had the type of relationship that was built on making each other better and damn if that didn't have my heart aflutter.

J.T. Geissinger has created such a funny and sexy story it touched this reader every way. I loved that Joellen is shy, nervous and knows what she wants but everything goes out the door with Cameron. J.T. Geissinger created the sexiest, hottest yet a gentleman at heart in Cameron. Something about his Scottish accent just well readers will need some ice to cool down. This is the best by J.T. Geissinger.

“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”

This second standalone in the Slow Burn series is another must read. The perfect book with an awkward, nerdy heroine who realised how looks can be deceiving and not at all what it appears to be. The hero is a Scottish professional rugby player who puts all the swoon and the best feminist male ever. Highly recommended

Cameron and Joellen are pure magic! Who does not love a Rugby player in a kilt? He is the annoying new neighbor playing loud music at all hours. She is the wallflower looking to date her boss, Michael. Cam agrees to give her kissing lessons among other things to help her get her man. But will Cam be able to let her go into the arms of another man? Great read by J.T. Geissinger! 5 stars

M/F Romance
Triggers: Scandal, Attempted Rape/Blackmail

Joellen is a somewhat awkward, curvy woman who has been in love with her boss since she was hired. She works with some great people and some people who seem slightly off. As you get to know Joellen, you see that her family life is less than ideal and that she grew up with horrible self-esteem. I felt bad for Joellen when it came to interacting with her family. They never quite understood her and didn't really try. Mostly her interactions were with her mom and I just wanted to smack her mom most of the time. I think that we could have gotten the gist of their relationship without having her mom actually be in the story. She just annoyed me.

Joellen's new neighbor is a famous rugby player who is hiding or regrouping after a scandal has followed him around. He is arrogant, sexy, huge, and has a kind heart. Cameron is a conundrum – on the one hand, he is fantastic at annoying Joellen. But on the other, he is also fantastic at showing Joellen exactly who she is.

When Joellen and Cameron hatch a plan for Joellen to seduce her boss, Michael, you get to see a different side of Joellen and Cameron's relationship. It becomes more than friends and you see Joellen work through all of the emotions associated with that.

I really enjoyed this story and loved the banter between Joellen and Cameron a lot. They had chemistry between each other, but it wasn't so overwhelming that it made the story drag on.

I can't wait to see who gets the next story.

This is the second in a series, but a completely separate story.

This is a wonderfully fun and romantic story. Cameron and Joellen are neighbours, and definitely start off by having a love-hate relationship. We are given insights into their feelings and soon work out what should happen, even if their plans are completely different.

When Joellen is suddenly being paid attention by her boss, Michael, at work, after 10 years of being in unrequited love with him (or at least the thought of him), she enlists Cam to help her improve her dating skills. Some very amusing situations arise in the pursuance of this aim, and at one point Joellen is given a hilarious makeover by her elderly neighbour.

Ms. Geissinger has created a funny, romantic story with a strong message of developing self-esteem, as well as a few indications of how badly a parent can destroy it with careless words.

Right from the very first page I was sucked into this book and unable to put it down. I loved Joellen and Cameron’s story – one of my favorite books of the year so far.

Cameron is a rugby player who has gotten himself into trouble overseas and been banished to the States. He’s now living in an apartment next door to Joellen and she’s not having any of his loud partying and music – knocking on his door on his very first day to tell him to keep it down. Cameron is immediately smitten with Joellen, but Jo has her eyes on her super handsome CEO boss whom she doesn’t even think knows her name. Though it’s obvious (to everyone but Jo) that Cameron has feelings for her, he offers to help her change her image just enough to capture her boss’s attention. Lo and behold, it works… a little too well.

Cameron and Jo’s interactions are laugh-out-loud funny, they’re the perfect balance for one another. Jo has serious self-confidence issues and Cameron is there to help her battle it out, I found it inspiring. I also seriously loved the surrounding characters, especially the elderly neighbor who lives in their building – she’s a treat. J.T. Geissinger was already one of my favorite authors but I think she’s earned a spot in my top five with this book.

5 KILT WEARING, DARLIN', EXTRAORDINARY, FANTABULOUS, PRANCER STARS!!!!
I am not sure how to say this, I am not sure how she does it, but every time I read a book by J.T. Geissinger I am floored by the emotional whiplash I receive and it's always for the Hero. I mean, Really? Seriously? Please tell me how you do it Ms. Geissinger? Please, I beg of you to explain how every bloody freaking time, I am coo coo for cocoa puffs over the hero? Lol. This story was truly amazing from the witty sarcastic retorts, to the serious minded nature of the emotional and mental abuse that women and men go through, to the over the top love that I have for Cameron McGregor. Joellen has been made to feel unloved all her life it seems until a younger famous Scottish rugby player tells her that she is sexy and gorgeous all on her own. Joellen only has eyes for her boss, Michael Maddox (booooooo) I didn't like him at all, but I'll fault Joellen's self-esteem for her serious lack in judgement. I totally saw what Cam was doing with her the whole time, to bad she just couldn't get the obvious hints in their situation and I can honestly say that it would have flown over my head too, she and I are kin like that, Lol. Excellent read, excellent writing, excellent on a job well done, again! I Loved it so much!!!!

You know what I enjoyed about this book? Pretty much everything.

Completely oblivious and naive Joellen. Arrogant and hot Cameron. And lets not forget the supporting cast. The characters were each completely necessary and yet not overwhelming or jarring.

This is a funny, touching and frustrating story all at the same time. It can be tricky to find a path through those elements without favouring one over the other. And yet, the author has, to my mind, balanced them perfectly and produced a genuinely enjoyable read.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

This is book 2 in the slow burn series by J.T. Geissinger, with each book being inspired by a traditional fairy tale. The books are all stand alone novels, so you don't need to have read the first to read this one (although the first book was brilliant so be sure to check it out).
Truly enjoyed this book, and another 'can't put down' one. Really nice story line between the main characters and some smoking hot chemistry. Cameron was an amazing character, and everybody needs someone like Cameron in their lives. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

I absolutely LOVED this book.

I was immediately drawn to this title after reading a friend's early review. I am so happy to say that it lived up to, and in many ways, exceeded her hype.

As this is my first J.T. Geissinger novel I was apprehensive on her style, delivery, and overall author-reader compatibility that I've come to find in my most read and well-loved authors. Upon finishing Melt for You I immediately looked up the author's back list - I'm hoping that she will become another well-read and loved author for me. I found her humor immensely enjoyable and her comedic timing perfect. The banter in this book was spot on and I found myself surprised by some plot points of the story featuring a trope explored by many authors in the genre. It wasn't what I was expecting and I loved every minute of it.

I recommend this book to anyone, it’s an absolute favorite for 2018. A MUST READ!
