Absolutely wonderful
I don't know where to begin raving about this book because there was so much to enjoy.
Joellen is a wonderful character that I think so many readers can identify with. She's smart, funny and attractive but has no idea, seeing herself through her family's jaded eyes. And Cam, he may be this bad boy rugby player but that's just a small party of who this gorgeous, thoughtful giant of man is. The story line had some wonderful twist and turns that so engaged me I finished this book in one sitting. I just could not put it down.
J.T. Geissinger has jumped to the top of the list of authors whose new books I impatiently wait for.

***5 ‘Mountain’ Stars***
I’ve found that many of Ms. Geissinger’s books take me on a major emotional rollercoaster, which I’m not complaining about in anyway because that is always a good thing when it comes to a book, but this one...this one was a category 5 hurricane settled over me the entire time I was devouring the words. I think the term ‘All the feels’ is an understatement, a huge one because I felt them all and then some, but even with the huge emotional upheaval I’m sitting here typing this out with a big dopey smile on my face, because regardless of emotional hurricane, it was kind of everything.
Joellen I wanted to hug and Gibbs smack in equal measure. There were so many times I was like “Don’t go there...don’t go…*Big heavy sigh* You went there” but I also got her. I mean like deep down, I could pretty much predict what she was going to think kind of GOT her. It was scary, but it was real. And when I wasn’t sighing in frustration, I loved her sass and snark and just how golden her heart was.
Cameron drove me batshit crazy. He did. I had so many “seriously” moments with this man it was nuts BUT I couldn’t help but adore him. The goodness in this man mixed with a heavy dose of tenacity that would make a pitbull proud.
These two drove me batshit crazy in equal measure. I don’t think there are many couples in romancelandia who I can say I was equally divided about while experiencing their journey with them, but I know Cameron and Joellen aren’t the first. There were so many times I wanted to reach through the Kindle and shake them, hug them...Gibbs smack them, but I coudn’t and had to sit back and wait for them to actually go there finally. But what they put each other through was funny, frustrating, sweet and smexy and in the end they truly got the HEA they so richly deserved because they ended up being exactly what the other never realized they needed.
I’m sure you get it by now that I adored the book and am a fangirl, so we’ll it at that. The secondary characters were a definite mixed bag. I honestly did like most of them, but I do have lots of love for Mr. Bingley & Mrs. Dinwiddle and possibly Portia...kind of sort of...you’ll see when you read it. And you really should read this one. It’s got it all and will leave you with a huge smile on your face in the end.
Great hilarious read! Loved it from the start! I SO enjoyed the banter of these characters! Pls write more rom coms!
4.5 Stars for Melt for You by J.T. Geissinger
This is the first book I have read by this author but it won’t be the last, I fell head over hills for Cameron McGregor who happens to be a tattooed Scottish rugby player with a killer sense of humour.
Cameron is spending the off season at a cousin’s Manhattan apartment which happens to be across the hall from Joellen Bixby’s apartment, his love of loud rap music draws her attention if fact it makes her so mad she decides to have it out with him, what she doesn’t expect is a hot, tattooed guy in a kilt to open the door to her.....
The attraction between Cameron and Joellen is instant, the chemistry is sizzling but he is extremely hot and confident and she sees herself as overweigh and clumsy, can Cameron make her see the woman he sees when he looks at Joellen. This book is the perfect mix of romance and humour, it has some hilarious laugh out loud moments as well as some very tender times, it’s also about someone learning to love themselves as well as learning sometimes the person we don’t see is the person who is right for us. I loved the characters and I loved the banter and I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.
Melt for You is the second book in the series Slow Burn of author J.T. Geissinger and also my second book, and just like the first I really enjoyed the book.
In this book we have the story of Cameron a Ruby player who came to spend the new year in your cousin's apartment and finds as a neighbor Joellen port, an introverted girl, totally the opposite and that your years is in love with the Ceo of the company that works. As the name of the series, the romance between them will happening gradually, and as the book a found the beginning of the book a bit slow, but once the story picked up the pace I was really enjoying the story and chemistry between these two characters.
Some little things bother me in history: the fact that a good part of the book, even with the evolution of the relationship with Cameron, the heroine of the story insisted that passion inappropriate by your boss, it made me Want to scream with her at various times.
Though I didn't love the first book in this series, Melt for You still presents a romantic story, funny and charming that made me finish reading the book in a day?
Melt for You is the second book in the Slow Burn series By J.T Geissinger. I loved the first book, Burn for You but I fell even harder for this one! It’s definitely a slow burn and I loved every minute of it.
Joellen was in love with her boss. The CEO. She has been in love with the perfectly styled and sophisticated man for the last ten years. The problem? Well, there are a few but just one is that he doesn’t even know that she exists. Yeah, maybe a few hellos, here and there but nothing more until she gets a new neighbor across the hall. A mountain of a man named Cameron McGregor. A cocky Scottish Rugby player who listens to very loud rap music and seems to enjoy having sex against the door, and eating her pies.
Joellen might want to slam her door in Cameron’s face every day of the week but he makes good points. He knows what she needs to do to get her pretty boy, Michael. He agrees to help even though he doesn’t think he is worth her time. She doesn’t see what he sees. A beautiful woman who shouldn’t change a thing. She is perfect the way she is and if someone says any different then they are fools. But, if Michael is who makes her happy then he will do what he can for her to get him. Even if it is a mistake. You can’t help, who you fall in love with.
Cameron and Joellen’s relationship is fucking hilarious, flirty, hot, and beautiful. Their relationship complicated. From the start it was something fierce. Cameron surprises Joellen at every turn. He is more than just a hot famous rugby star. So much more. I fell for him hard and fast. He is so fucking funny, smart, and sweet. And one big flirt with a cocky side that will make you laugh. So bloody hard. Now for Joelle, I wanted to slap the sense into her few times. I also wanted to hug her. She is witty, beautiful, sassy, and sexy without knowing it. Together, their banter is fucking awesome. It will make you laugh, swoon, and blush.
Overall...it was one of my favorite books of the year! It wasn’t just about love. It was about believing in yourself. Loving yourself. Not giving a fuck about what others think. You do what makes you happy. You don’t need to change for anyone. It’s a beautiful story with an amazing message.
P.S That accent though...
Quotes:
“Tear yourself down in front of me again, woman, and I’ll take you over my knee and make you wish you hadn’t.”
“When it comes to the body, I know what I’m doin’, lass. Gimme a chance to show you what I mean. I promise you’ll be satisfied.”
“I can’t believe you voluntarily do this every day. For free. Not at gunpoint.”
Cam lifts the waistband of his hoodie, exposing acres of rippling abdominal muscles. “All for a good cause.” I wipe the sweat from my brow with the back of my hand.
“Do you hold yourself tightly in bed at night while whispering sweet nothings into your own ear?”
What's better than a slow burn? An enemies to lovers slow burn. This book was appropriately named because it made me MELT! I absolutely adored this book. So much that I went back and one clicked the first book in the series. Joellen was so inspirational and I loved her character. I feel like she'd be my best friend in real life. And then Cam? OMG....swoon! Just the perfect amount of gruff, sweet and dirty. The banter between him and Joellen was hilarious and I couldn't get enough of it. The back and forth between them created the most perfect build up. I mean my head was tingling and there were butterflies in my stomach once these two finally get together. It was pure perfection and the hair pulling? Don't get me started. And let's not forget the message of the book...loving yourself. Not only was this the perfect love story, it has a wonderful message that anyone can benefit from and that just made me love this story even more. I could totally relate to Joellen's struggles and I think that just made her the ultimate heroine. Cam and Joellen gave me all the feels. I laughed, I cried and I swooned and I'll forever be in love with this powerful story.
Joellen has worked for Maddox Publishing for 10 years and has been in love with the CEO Michael Maddox from day one. No one knows this because Joellen sees herself as a fat ogre (because of her model family) ... but she is far from that description. One day on her way home from work, the music is blaring from her neighbours apartment and when she knocks on the door to tell him to turn it down, she comes face to face with the biggest man she has even seen ... and he's not her neighbour. Cameron McGregor needed a break from his life in Scotland, so he trades apartments with his cousin in New York for a month. His first night there he has a strip poker party and comes face to face with his cousin's beautiful neighbour. At first Joellen and Cam hate each other and just yell at one another, but it doesn't take long for them to become friends. Cam even agrees to help Joellen get fit and learn how to seduce her boss. And that's when the fun begins.
I just loved this book ... most of the time I was laughing so hard there were tears running down my cheeks. I couldn't help but love Joellen ... she was such a kind mousy girl at work and in front of other people, but with Cam she could just be herself. The comments that came out of her mouth just cracked me up. And Cam ... who doesn't love a tattooed muscle man with a heart of gold? This is just one of those feel good books that just makes you smile! I highly recommend this book if you love to laugh at life and romance ... actually I recommend it even if you don't, because you will be doing just that by the end of the book.

4.5⭐
Melt for You was a really enjoyable story. That although a little hard to get into and slow to get going. Did still draw me in and then kept me completely engaged throughout.
As both main characters Joellen and cocky, rugged, sexy Scot Cam were likable and easy to connect with. As was Joellens relationship with her parents. And her insecurities and self doubts about her looks and her weight, were very believable and relatable too.
As for the story, it was packed full of funny moments, banter sparks and sweetness. Yet, as slow burn romances go, it was pretty slow and as much I loved the development of the relationship between Joelllen and Cam. I do wish they had gotten together sooner. Just so I could of enjoyed them more as a couple, before the story ended. As they were so great together.
But it was great to read, and I would happily recommend it to others.
Geissinger excels at heartfelt, emotional romance that will transport you. She just keeps getting better and better.
Flirty fun, slow burn read. Boy do I love the slow burns. Cameron is one sexy Scotsman that leaves you all hot and bothered. He is amazing. I love how he sees the beauty of Joellen even when she can't see it herself. Joellen has been battered down by her family all her life thinking she is the ugly duckling. Little does she know just how perfect she is in Cameron's eyes. I love the banter between Joellen and Cameron. There are times where you want to go Joellen what are you thinking when it comes to comparing her boss to Cameron. I'm for Cameron from the very beginning. But then how can you not be when that sexy accent and body being next door. Such a good read. This will back you melt into the arms of a Rugby stud.
I really enjoyed this read. Joellen was a realistic character who had self-esteem issues that I think we've all encountered one time or another. Cameron was an awesome character as well. I didn't think I'd grow to like him since he seemed pretty boorish early on in the book but he grew on me. Joellen and Cameron had some great chemistry and I liked how they slowly developed feelings for one another. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it!
ARC gifted by publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Joellen Bixby is this adorably strong yet insecure character. I found myself drawn to her immediately and loved everything about her. While she may come off as naive, she's anything but. When we first meet Joellen, she's being bullied by a co-worker. I instantly didn't like said co-worker because she sounded horrible. Then when she gets home later that evening, she's subjected to loud music and an obnoxious new neighbor that seems to love irritating her.
Cameron McGregor is on a break from his own reality. He's swapped apartments with a relative and is living it up. When he inadvertently meets his new neighbor he's taken aback by this woman that's gorgeous yet uptight. He finds himself goading her every chance he gets until he's wormed his way into her life to try to help her get the man of her dreams.
When the man of Joellen's dreams finally gives her the time of day, she doesn't know what to do with herself. Cameron agrees to help her out but then her feelings get twisted and she finds herself liking Cameron more and more while trying to stay with her original goal.
This book was packed full of feelings and laughter and what I like to call "proud mom moments" where our characters both finally figured themselves out. Not only did they figure themselves out but they ended up figuring life out as well. A heartwarming story of the ugly duckling meets her rough around the edges prince charming, this story has it all and easily made it into my favorites category.
4 Star Review Melt For You (Slow Burn #2) by J.T. Geissinger
What’s not to like about Cameron McGregor a cocky, tattooed Scottish rugby captain moving into the house next door?
J.T. Geissinger is a new author to me and I found her writing to be strong and compelling.
Shy and not comfortable around men Joellen Bixby lusts after her company CEO Michael Maddox. However she is totally clueless about how to go after who she wants.
Cam volunteers to give her some ideas and as she slowly blossoms under his guidance, Cam realises that he may have made a mistake.
Cam sees beneath the surface and is attracted to Jo who is totally blind to his attraction to her. Jo’s confidence grows in leaps and bounds, Cam only becomes more invested and falls deeper for Jo.
Will Jo see that Cam could be the man of her dreams or will Cam lose Jo before he even gets a chance with her?
The banter between Cam and Jo had me in stitches, such was the humour. Mind you it took a while for the tension between the two to abate.
Cameron McGregor is such a great character, not only was it a riot but he was caring and truly wanted to help Jo.
Jo had many insecurities not only with body issues but her self esteem was so low it was almost non existent.
These subjects were handled well and I liked how the author portrayed both Cam and Jo, particularly in regards to these issues.
All in all Melt For You was a good romantic read which I enjoyed.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book through NetGalley from the publisher.
Jo lives alone with her deaf cat. Life is quiet and simple and she likes it that way. Then she meets her new, temporary neighbor Cameron. He is loud, Scottish and annoying. Cameron can teach her how to make her noticeable to her boss and Jo can cook for Cameron. This book made me laugh at times. I loved the banter between Jo and Cameron. Jo was quirky and unique...I loved her!
Where do you begin on a book that made you laugh, cry, swoon and relate to a character so much you knew EXACTLY how she was feeling? I dare say I loved this book even more than the first in the series (which I adored!). We are introduce to Joellen and how she feels about herself and how she thinks other perceive her as well. Cameron quickly enters the picture with his huge muscles, amazing looks, Scottish brogue and of course his kilt! (What IS he wearing under that thing?) The two butt heads after Joellen has a bad day at the office and she meets her new loud neighbor. Joellen forgets to be her normal shy self due to her irritation and right off the bat Cameron is given a front seat to the real Joellen, (the sassy, mouthy version) that she often hides. As they quickly get to know one another a deal is formed where she cooks for him and in return he agrees not to be the loud obnoxious neighbor she has grown to expect. Through their deal they get to know one another well. She doesn't hide her constant irritation with him and even confides in him about her secret crush on her boss Michael. Despite his obvious attraction to her, Cam agrees to help her "get" Michael. A modern day Cyrano if you will. The plan works too well as the two grow more fond of each other as time passes.
"The worst thing in life is to give yourself away exchange for nothing."
Cameron is frustrated in the realization that Joellen has no idea how amazing she is. He builds her up all while allowing her to find her own strength and gain confidence in herself. Cam is the kind of friend and man every woman wishes she had. Their constant bickering and mutual admiration is fun, flirty and makes this story fast paced and a joy to read.
When Joellen finally gets what she wants will it be all she imagined? Or will a certain rugby player consume her?
The playboy is about to get played. Feeling like a woman has never come easy for Jo. She's far too shy and much too plain. When a man finally does catch her eye, she needs all the help she can get. Enter Cam, a playboy athlete with some secret fantasies of his own. With his tutelage, Jo blossoms into the woman she was meant to be, but will Cam let his dream woman slip through away? Geissinger uses heart and humor to deliver a valuable lesson we all now and constantly forget. True beauty lies within. It's hard not to love such a tempting find.
WOW. I mean seriously, WOW. I loved this book so much, I can't even believe it. It made me so emotional, I just burst into tears when it was over. It's the second book in this series, but it has no association with book 1 at all. These are complete standalones, with a slow burn/fairy tale retelling theme. I'm going to try to properly articulate myself here, so here we go.
Joellen Bixby is a wallflower of the highest order. She works as an editor for a publishing house, and she loves her job. She's been there 10 years, and for that entire time she's been "in love" with her company's CEO, Michael Maddox. In her eyes he's beautiful, and perfect, and is the kind of man any woman would be lucky to be with. But, he's married, and Joellen knows he's way out of her league anyway, so she just sits by and pines silently. Until his situation changes. She knows she's a bit of an ugly duckling, but shouldn't girls like her get a happily ever after too? She's in for the ride of her life when a mountain of a man temporarily moves in across the hall and decides to help her out.
Cameron McGregor is a cocky, tattooed, Scottish rugby captain, who just switched homes with his cousin for the holidays. He's brash, and he gets around, and in Europe, paparazzi follows him around doggedly. He needed a break from all the drama, so here he is in NYC. He is surprised to meet a woman like Joellen, and he's surprised how taken with her he is. But, he decides to help her get her heart's desire, and he volunteers to help her learn the ways of seduction. He doesn't know what he'll do, though, if she actually succeeds.
Cam and Jo's chemistry was slow building. It started off with her being annoyed with his antics, and loud rap music, but then they become friends when she agrees to let him help her. Their chemistry was so hot once it finally kicked in, as they had spent so much time building their relationship, even though Jo had no idea that's what was happening. But I couldn't even be annoyed by her cluelessness, because it was just so painful to watch her beating up on herself all the time. That lack of self-confidence was the main factor in why it never occurred to her that Cam might actually want her. Joellen truly is clueless in this story. We only get her point of view in this book, and she's quite the unreliable narrator, especially as it pertains to herself, and her own appeal. She's a curvy girl, but she thinks she's hideous, and fat, and has no chance for getting what she wants. Her family has done a number on her, as they are all "beautiful people", and have reinforced, whether purposely or not, that she isn't one of them. She's always felt ugly, and inferior, and they've done nothing to dissuade her. Cam sees her for who she really is, but she doesn't see him. Not for a long time. Joellen as a character was so emotional for me. I feel like, if I had a different kind of family, or less self-love, she could be me. It made me so thankful for the life I have, and the confidence instilled in me my whole life, and it pained me to see Jo constantly putting herself down.
Cameron was a perfect romance hero. He had been a bad boy and a womanizer in the past, but Joellen captured his heart from the very beginning. He really saw her, and wanted to be in her life so much that he was willing to help send her off to the man she thought she wanted, with brand new confidence in tow. Everything he does for her is completely unselfish, and I loved all the different ways he cared for her, even when she was totally oblivious, and hurting him in the process. I loved their witty banter, and their hilarious and varied nicknames for each other. I loved how even though we only get Jo's POV, I as the reader, had a clear picture of Cam and his intentions, even though she did not. I would have KILLED to get Cam's point of view, even once though. Even if it was just in the epilogue. I loved him, and his heart.
This book was a perfect ugly duckling story, and I love even more that Cam never felt like that was an accurate description of Jo at all. He got mad and read her the riot act every time he heard her coming down on herself or demeaning or insulting herself in any way. I loved that he made her finally see herself for who she really was all along. This book was heartbreaking, and sweet, and funny, and heartfelt, and sexy, and everything else I could ever want a book to be. I loved it beyond words, and I can't wait to read more by this author.
"Your ego is your superpower, you know that, prancer?"
J.T. Geissinger never fails to make me laugh, her sense of humor shines through in every story and I love it. She still manages to tackle serious subjects, but she does so in a way that her readers end up wearing a smile. And let me assure you, having a #ScottishBaller who lives next door and jokes about what's under his kilt is entertaining as hell. I guarantee that you won't be able to read the #PrincePantyDropper dialogue without mentally 'hearing' his sexy Scottish accent and 'seeing' his, "shaggy brown hair, hazel eyes, lots of tattoos, and a devastating smile."
Joellen might be a wallflower, but she's got some snark too. While she's forced to keep her opinions to herself at her demanding job, she's not required to tolerate her noisy disruptive neighbor without giving him a piece of her mind. With the demands of her career keeping her working around the clock, she needs to be able to grab some sleep whenever she can squeeze it into her busy schedule. Listening to the loud music vibrating the walls from the party nearby is more than she can handle after a frustrating and exhausting day. When she heads over to demand that the music is turned down she never expects what she sees through the open door. And once she does see it, she can't unsee it. Now she's seeing it in her dreams.
I enjoyed the hell out of Melt for You. The witty banter and sexual tension between Joellen and Cameron are better than Netflix any day. The colorful support characters, pets included, are amazing. Some I wanted to hug and others I wanted to punch. I got so caught up in the drama that I hung my virtual DO NOT DISTURB sign and ignored my other responsibilities as I binged on the #WeirdAndWonderful. I don't know if there will be more books in the Slow Burn series or not, but I sure hope so. Regardless, I'll be keeping my eyes open for whatever the author decides to tackle next. The line forms here...
This story challenges the idea that "you never get a second chance to make a first impression".
Just like the heroine, Joellen Bixby, my first impression of Cameron "Cam" McGregor was not good.
Loud.
Self-absorbed.
Inconsiderate.
Intrusive.
Demanding.
And on and on.
Basically, he's what I'd classify as the worst neighbor. Worse, he just won't go away.
However, with time, we come to learn the Cam might have a purpose that could benefit Joellen. You see, Joellen is in love with her boss, Michael Maddox, who is going thru a divorce. For the first time in ten years, he is giving her the time of day. Only problem? Joellen is a H-O-T M-E-S-S around him. And that's where Cam comes to good use.
Despite his pushy personality, Cam has moments of sweetness that wear down the reader, particularly as he tries to build up Joellen's confidence. After years of backhanded remarks from her family, she has a very low opinion of herself. So much so, that she overanalyzes ever comment as a person attack to her worth.
Not only does Cam try to shift the negative views she has about herself, he offers advice on how she can "better herself". Let me make it clear, it is pretty obvious to this reader that Cam didn't feel she need to change herself but steps up as a means to spend more time with her. But Joellen is so fixated on Michael, that she misses all the signs.
Through his actions around Joellen and her own personal searches on the mystery behind the uber-popular rugby star, we learn there is more to Cam than image the tabloids project. On top of that, we can see how Joellen is making an image in his life, one neither of them expected.
This book was a bit of a surprise from page one. I've never read the author before, and given the cover, I was expecting something more erotic/intense. Instead, this book is actually pretty light and funny. That isn't a bad thing, I was just not expecting it.
With that said, if you are looking for a sweet story with a good message about self-worth and changing first impressions, this one is worth checking out.
