First let me say that I am a huge fan of J.T. Geissinger and she did not disappoint with this book! I truly loved how she showed how hard we can be on ourselves and it just takes the right person to make you feel better about yourself. It was very uplifting and I truly loved every bit of it. I told several people at work that they need to read it. Now I need to go buy Burn For You! Thanks J.T. for another fantastic read!
4 1/2 stars. Ms. Geissinger has created my favorite new series. Joellen and Cam are the sweetest. Slow burn romances are usually frustrating for me - but not when written by Geissinger. She has the ability to hit all the right notes at all the right moments. The only issue I had with the book was not tying up the whole paternity suit storyline. Well done.

”’Your pie for your pussy, sweetheart.’”
I didn’t love the story, but I did love the characters. A sweet, nerdy woman with some self-esteem issues meets a smart-ass Scottish rugby player. Joellen has crushed on her boss from afar and Cam offers to help her get him. Sort of.
This isn’t the kind of story I love...
- Heroines stomped on by their family.
- So much self-doubt.
- Chasing after an asshole
- Not seeing the awesome right in front of you.
But these two make me laugh. I read this after ACOTAR. By all accounts it should get zero stars for not containing...ahem...the ACOTAR hero.
This book made it work, though. With banter and sass and tons of sweetness. Cam was fabulous - so sexy and charming. He made the book without overshadowing Joellen. There ware a handful of pitfalls common in these stories - and those were neatly avoided.
So 4 stars for being cute and fun with enough backbone to not be easily dismissed.

I liked the characters but the plot was a bit predictable and I didn’t really like the magical realism elements.
Joellen feels she is a below average woman who lives with her cat and makes dinners for the elderly lady down the hall. She has sass and compassion with a habit of putting herself down. Cameron is the rugby player who is living in the apartment across the hall for a short period of time. In that short period of time he manages to bring Joellen out of her shell by first being her friend and then more.
Reminds you that what you see on the outside may differ from the inside. Their banter was awesome! Great read with slow, smoldering emotions that eventually explode. I received an ebook at no charge for which I voluntarily provided an honest review.
I received an ARC copy of this book for a honest review. I really liked the synopsis of this book and then started reading the first few chapters and was a little nervous because I found Joellen a little annoying. She was very negative about herself and her “dream man” situation was a little disappointing but then the silver lining. Cam. Who doesn’t love a confident, athletic, tatted Highlander. I can’t stress how much I loved this man and wish he was real. The underlying love between the two really helped support the positive self image that I feel the author was trying relay and the heat between the two was fantastic. This is Not an instaromance which makes the story more realistic and relatable. Just stick with it after the first few chapters and you won’t be disappointed. I really recommend this book
Melt for You melted me! Why? Cameron McGregor! He is funny, sexy and so darn swoony! This is book 2 in the Slow Burn series and can be read as a complete standalone, and honestly I loved Book #1-Burn for You so much that I didn't think this book would live up to it, but believe me, it far exceeded it. I can't remember laughing so hard while reading a contemporary romance, but the dialogue was hysterical! Joellen's character is freaking funny, as was some of Cameron's one-liners -- I think I had tears running down my face for most of the book. But aside from the laughs, there are some very emotional, heartfelt moments in this book that really resonated with me because of some of the issues that Joellen deals with. Add in the secondary characters that were absolutely perfect and you've got an incredible read. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone so suffice it to say that this is an excellent romantic comedy with tons of laugh-out-loud moments, emotional and intense "feel" moments and an all around awesome storyline. I didn't want it to end and that's a good indication of how much I enjoyed this read! Can't wait to see what this author has in store for us next!
3.5/5. This is my first book by Geissinger and it was off to such a promising start. I love the heated banter between the leads. The hero brought out the best in the heroine. Joellen Bixby grew up in a aesthetically-blessed household with a beauty queen sister, a model mother and fashion photographer father. It is only natural that she has developed quite an inferiority complex when it comes to her curvy appearance, although it doesn't stop her from having a decade long infatuation for her married boss.
After allowing her bitchy manager to once more walk all over her at work, she releases her pent up rage on her new kilt-wearing neighbour, who has a perchant for loud parties and an aversion to clothing on his not insignificant person. This Scottish man-mountain annoys her with his God-like good looks, ridiculously fit body and a stream of gorgeous people in and out of his house - not to mention his obnoxiously loud music. And while Joellen might be reticent at work, she certainly is not afraid to vent the full force of her wit and fury at Cameron McGregor, who infuriatingly returns serve with effortless charm and the shameless display of even more muscle-bound skin.
The captain of the Scottish rugby team, Cam is used to adulation from males and females alike. Joellen's instant animosity towards him is thus a source of great amusement and fascination for the man, who expects the world to fall at his feet. The only adoring creature curled at his feet is Joellen's deaf cat (much to the owner's disgust), while Joellen herself spits creative insults at the sight of him. Still he manages to overcome her vocal resistance enough to strike a deal for her masterly home-cooked meals in exchange for Cam's cessation of noise-pollution and his assistance to win over the object of her long-term infatuation, the handsome in a plasticine kinda way Michael Maddox, who conveniently is now newly separated from his wife and finally starting to notice Joellen.
The bantering between Cam and Joellen was highly amusing. The deaf cat had some great scenes. Cam made a wonderful hero, self-confident and cocky as only a man all too aware of his many attributes can be, but also attentive, sensitive and far more attuned to Joellen than she was to him. He made her feel comfortable in her own skin (even though it meant skinny-bashing those not so curvaceous, which I really hate, because celebrating one should not have to mean insulting and de-feminising the other), taught her self-respect and that she was just as guilty of initial prejudice against him for his appearance as others have been throughout her life.
In turn, Joellen was completely oblivious to Cam's growing feelings for her because she couldn't see beyond the superficial pretty boy appeal of Michael. I hated how she continued to have strong lusty reactions to Michael right up to the end, even after sharing pretty amazing initimate moments with Cam. I hated how the reader had to endure tedious flirtatious letters back and forth between Joellen and Michael even at the 3/4 mark, in which she admitted that she wanted to bang the boss, even though she previously told him admirably that things were happening way too fast and he was still too married for her sense of propriety. This sense of propriety seemed to have disappeared somewhere along the way, possibly washed away by her frequent streams of vaginal gushes aroused by both men! I hated that she only came to her senses at the 80% point, not because of the realisation that Cam was the man for her, but because of the realisation that Michael was not the man her fantasies thought him to be. And this epiphany was only brought about by the latter turning completely psychotic on her. It really shouldn't have to take her this long to see what had been there all along, all the crumbs dropped along the way by Cam as well as by Michael's sleazy behaviour. Even though Cam at 29 is seven years younger than Joellen, he was the more mature and sensible person of the two. Joellen's double-dipping just ruined the book entirely for me. However, I do like author's writing and the dialogue and I will certainly try out other books of hers.
Is there anything JTG can’t write? I loved the evolution of Cam's and Joellen's relationship; from enemies to friends to lovers. Also, not only is this story extremely funny, it is also quite emotional. An all-time favourite, for sure.
I really enjoyed Melt for You. It was a sweet, easy to read romance that makes you want to swoon. I love any romance with Scottish men and tattoos, so this book was perfect for me. This book made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion and I really loved the banter and wit of the two main characters, Joellen and Cameron. It was fun to watch their relationship blossom and for the interactions between all the characters in the book.
At times I was a bit annoyed with Joellen's perception of herself, as she constantly seemed to doubt herself and put herself down but I have to admit I have had similar thoughts at times. It was great to see her personal growth throughout the book and not only was this a fantastic romance, it also included some enlightening scenes where Joellen learns she is a fantastic and loveable woman.
Both Joellen and Cameron learn a lot about each other and about themselves and it was good to read this in addition to the blossoming romance.
I would certainly recommend this book if you love scottish men, tattoos, rugby, romance, banter and laughing out loud.
Thank you to Montlake Romance for allowing me to read this book before release. All opinions and thoughts are my own and do not represent the author or the publisher.
I really enjoyed the last book in the series... although before reading the blurb all I could remember was it made being stuck in an airport because my flight was cancelled entirely more bearable!! So it was in a much comfier chair that I read the second in the series!
I really enjoyed this - and both the characters had me cracking up right from the start! Jo is your typical shy wallflower... but there is something about "Prancer" that just winds her up (and drives her crazy!) Cam is basically the opposite... hiding in plain sight is what I think when reading about him - but it makes it so much more entertaining!
Geissinger wrote some extremely relate-able characters with these two - and I can't wait to see who comes next in the series! Unlike other books I would say this can be read as a complete standalone
Absolutely loved this book! I've read the Bad Habit series prior to this one, so I knew I enjoyed Geissinger's style. The main characters were just so much fun! Joellen and Cameron were enjoyable from the first encounter. Their conversations were filled with fun, flirty banter that translated into a foundation of true friendship. Their friendship was one of the best parts of their love story -- neither one thought the other was "the one" in the beginning. Mr. Bingley (Joellen's cat) and Mrs. Dinwiddle provide some excellent comic relief.
I love how Geinssinger takes the time to let you get to know the characters, but without dragging on forever. It was nice to watch Joellen discover herself anew after having listened to her parents' criticisms for 30+ years. Self-acceptance is GREAT -- it was nice to see a writer present an over-30 heroine who presented like the rest of us ;-)
I would love a follow-up to see what happens to Joellen and Cameron in a couple of years!!
4 stars!
I adored this story about a wallflower and socially awkward late bloomer, Joellen Bixby. She has been in love with her boss for 10 years, And since he doesn't know, she is kind of in love with the idea of him.
Her life is turned upside down when rugby star, Cameron McGregor, moves in next door to her. She sees him as an annoyance, he sees her as she should see herself.
This was a cute love story about finding love, when you aren't looking for it. The even better moral of this story was learning to love yourself for who you are, and the rest of the world be damned!!
I received an arc from Netgalley. This book was one of my absolute favorite books. The characters had such witty comebacks and you could generally feel their connection. I was pulling for Cam the whole way through.
Cam, a rugby player told by his coach to take a time out falls for his shy and low self esteem temporary neighbor Joellen.
Michael on the other hand is also vying for Joellen’s attention but at first she is oblivious to his deception.
Definitely a five star rating in my book.
Melt For You is a wonderful romantic comedy. For 10years JoEllen has been in love with the CEO of the company she works for, quiet and shy she considers herself to be fat and plain who nobody would take a second glance at. Enter Cameron McGregor a drop dead gorgeous hunk of a Scottish rugby player staying in the flat opposite JoEllen to get away from extremely bad press reports of his extra curricular activities in the U.K.
When JoEllen confronts him about the loud music and 'other' noises coming from his flat at all hours he is totally full of himself and arrogant. Sparks fly and the dialogue between the two is hilarious, JoEllens confidence in herself begins to shine as Cameron will take no nonsense off her and starts to build up her self esteem. They become good friends although it's obvious Cameron wants more than just friendship.
This story progresses beautifully, thoroughly entertaining, a great read with a very satisfying ending. It also has a message to convey how some people perceive themselves and how cruel comments can have devastating consequences.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for opportunity to review this book honestly.
I eagerly hoped that I would be able to voluntarily review this book!!!!
YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH GEISSINGER!!!! When she writes about all the feels and situations that push "your" buttons, then you've got a grand slam! This was my grand slam, touchdown, 3 pointer from half court and hat trick. It had everything I love in a novel and when I grow up I want to be just like Joellen with her snarky, take no prisoners mouth. Dear Lord, I laughed so hard that I was in danger of an accident (not in a car).
If you love smart mouth heroines (and Joellen is hysterical!) who is not perfect (in that, I mean today's standard of beautiful) and Scottish rugby players with the accent who knows what he wants from the get go......MELT FOR YOU is for you!!! Enjoy! :D
Melt for You - 5 stars
Ugly duckling the Rugby bad boy
This is the 2nd book in the slow burn series. I liked the first one better, however, this is still a 5 star book. I think I liked the stronger heroine in book one. This book has all the feels. It's well written, well placed and draws you into the characters. The characters are well developed as well.
This book starts with the heroine, self proclaimed ugly duckling and loner, pining over her boss of ten yrs, Michael. The male H in this book, Cam, is introduced as the Rugby bad boy, who is staying next door temporarily. They meet when Joellen goes to complain about the loud music.
The sarcasm between the two is hilarious. They team up to win over the boss, Michael, and all kinds of hilarity ensues. Cam cons Joellen into feeding him in exchange for quiet. They develop a sweet legitimate friendship. I love sports romances and love friends to lovers. So this book checks a lot of boxes for me. Joellen's journey is frustrating, funny and heartbreaking. Will she choose the right guy for her? At times you will cheer her on, others you want to yell at her. Cam ends up falling in love and finds he may have done too good of a
job making her desirable. Highly recommend this book. This is one of my favorite authors, it's hard to go wrong with one of her books.

IMelt for You is the second book in a series by J. T. Geissinger. I did not read the first book in the series but did not have a hard time keeping up with the details. This was the first book that I’ve read by this author and I loved it. It is my favorite book so far in 2018.
I really identified with the heroine, Joellen. She’s a little older (mid-30’s) and has a complicated relationship with her family. She struggles with her self-worth and, like many of us, is probably harder on herself than other people are.
The hero, Cam, has a traumatic backstory. And, yet, he remains fairly positive and spends a lot of the time building Joellen’s confidence back up. The two of them have amazing chemistry and at the heart of their relationship is a deep friendship.
This book was really well written. There was a lot of witty dialogue and a cast of really intriguing secondary characters (even the cat!). I couldn’t put it down and ended up finishing the book off in one sitting.
5 stars for Cam and Joellen!
First of all can I just say..... I want a Cameron McGregor... I of course love the first slow burn book so I knew I would love this one too and could not wait to read it.
Cam is a Rugby player from Scotland who had gotten into a bit of trouble and is taking a break in the states. Joellen is a mid thirties co editor who has been pining after her boss for ages but feels as though she is an ugly duckling. I loved the sarcastic banter between these too and how he always wanted to raise her spirits. This is a must read if you love a good slow burn, or even if you don't read it anyway you will not be sorry. Its a fantastic read with lots of chemistry and laughs. I cannot wait to read more from J.T Geissinger
What can I say except Swoon! I think that Cameron McGregor may just be one of my favourite book boyfriends of all time! If every woman had a Cameron McGregor in their life, I imagine there would be a lot less self esteem issues in the world!
I loved Joellen and how her character lit up the pages. The banter in this book is absolutely fantastic, I laughed so much and yet my heart broke for her more than once throughout the book. And Cam, well he was just amazing. I loved every second of this book, It was impossible to put down!
