I really enjoyed The Butterfly Garden, but every book in the series since that one has been mediocre. Very tenuous connections to the original story, with a few chapters dipping into the repercussions from that first instalment, but nothing cohesive. I've had this sat on my Netgalley shelf for years because I was waiting to read the other books in the series, but I think I should have just stuck with the first book.

This was a brilliant read. As soon as I started reading this book I just knew I was going to love it. Highly recommended

I actually really enjoyed this one and would rate 4/5 stars. The first one in the series was hands down my favorite and the most memorable of the series for me, but I would put this in second place out of the three installments I’ve read thus far.

I found this book to be very disturbing and I'm someone who reads horror. But this one got to me for some reason. I can't explain it. I didn't like this book but I didn't dislike it.

Outstanding!!! Great read. I plan to go back and read more of this author's work. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on my review.

Fantastic book. I have read all the books in the series through Netgalley and I feel like Dot Hutchison's writing and story-telling just gets better and better with each novel she writes. This book is brutal and I could not put it down!!

Thank you Netgalley for my copy of this great book.

The Summer Children is book 3 in The Collector Trilogy by Dot Hutchison and therefore should be read in order.

FBI Agent Mercedes Ramirez returns home to find a bloody child on her front porch, the victim of child abuse.

This book is full of amazing people who are doing their best in challenging circumstances.
This book covers terrible topics but the heroes while damaged are loving and supportive of each other and that gave me hope!
Third in a series but not a problem to read alone. FBI child protection officer Mercedes Ramierez is being given damaged children to look after but the person who is doing so is a killer.
Perfectly paced and told

The Summer Children was fantastic... I spent my only day away from the bookstore reading it at home on the couch. Dot Hutchison definitely recaptured the magic of The Butterfly Garden that was missing in The Roses of May.

I loved that this book was centered around Mercedes and we went through her struggles and demons while she was trying to find the "angel". Great book! I am so pumped that there is another coming out in 2019.

I really loved the first 2 books in this series and this is definitely didn't let me down! It was fairly fast paced and just as thrilling as the previous two.
The characters were pretty good, not as great as I'd had hoped but still loved them regardless.
All in all it was a great addition to the series! This author just has a way with thrillers!

This is an amazing third story in this series. Filled with all new horrors and a new struggle for the agents that seem to have nearly seen it all. We see the butterflies once again and how they are struggling with the world they find themselves in as well.

I liked that I didn't guess the ending, that this was a quick read full of twists and turns but also full of personal touches to give us more story to these agents. I didn't want it to be over when i'd turned the last page. I hope we see more from this author!

I really enjoyed “The Butterly Garden” despite the dark subject matter as Dot Hutchinson did a great job really weaving together an interesting story with detailed descriptions. I thought “Roses of May” was a solid sequel, but did not live up to its predecessor. While I do feel the same about “The Summer Children”, it was a more intriguing tale than the second sequel. It put a compelling spin on how abuse survivors deal with the aftermath of their struggles and try to move on. It once again deals with heavy subject matter-child and sexual abuse, but if you enjoy thrillers, this is a solid read. It appears that none of Hutchinson’s sequels will live up to “The Butterfly Garden”, but I enjoyed and went through this one pretty quickly!

This is the 3rd book in The Collector series by Dot Hutchison. It featured FBI agent Mercedes Ramirez from the Crimes Against Children or CAC unit. After being an abused child she wanted to help abused children and that's what her team does.
Edison, Vic & Sterling are also back along with their "adopted" girls from the first two books. There's a killer targeting parents abusing children. She calls herself an angel and Ramirez is determined to catch her. There's still that familial element to the unit that I love. The flow makes sense and doesn't lag or drag. I look forward to reading the entire book but dread the end at the same time. I hope the next in the series doesn't take long to write!

I received this ARC from Netgalley, Thomas and Mercer & Dot Hutchison for my honest review.

**** ARC kindly provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review ****

Warning: I am not a robot! I have feelings, thoughts, likes and dislikes and this review is based on that. You should read the book to form your own opinion/thoughts. Read on!

This was a very powerful book. Dot really knows what she is doing.
She tries and succeeds to get in your brain and stay there.
The sad thing about these stories is that they might be true for some people.
It was a rollercoaster of emotions and Dot just made me her forever fan, whatever she writes, I will probably read it, and not once but many times.
Inmerse yourself in this world, is dark. But they say, there is still light in the darkness.

This was not my favorite in the trilogy, but I thought it was a nice conclusion. I love the authors writing, but the last two books didn't compare to the first book, in my opinion. I did enjoy it though.

Loved this. Loved all of them. Dot Hutchison has become an auto buy for me. I will read anything she puts out.

I read/listened to this entire series in two days. I love that the audiobook is free with KU. This is maybe the most emotional series I have ever read. Every book made me cry, which is really not normal for a thriller. The way the author portrayed the characters as a family was so so touching. Makes one wonder if there is really such a thing in the world. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this ARC.

You know, I really have a love/hate relationship with these books. They are by no means bad books, not at all, but I find them to be wildly inconsistent and that they never really deliver the goods. Ever. Now, let's move on.

The Summer Children naturally features all these terribly broken FBI agents once again. You don't dislike them, but you have to wonder how they are all cleared for duty, what with their various issues, because their issues are not necessarily ones they have successfully dealt with, as the fear is constantly with them. Anyway. We also, naturally, have Priya, Bliss, and Inara rejoin in here, and it is always nice to read about them.

This book focuses on Mercedes and all the crap she has been through, and I must say this book has been my least favourite read of the lot so far. I don't know why. I read it and I was interested, but I always feel that while Hutchison deals with dark topics, they don't have a true feeling of dread. It is also not helped along when you read about all this awful stuff going down, and these agents revert to children, all having huge sleepovers and falling apart at the seams.

I don't think these are books I will ever go back to reread, but if Hutchison does any more I will likely read them because they aren't difficult reads. Yes, they deal with some heavy issues, but as I said, it feels more like they are touched upon than actually explored really in depth. If you have read the books, you will know what I mean. I mean we explore nasty crimes and get in depth looks at different characters in each of the books, but it feels superficial when all is said and done. Okay, I am going to stop now. I don't really have anything other to say than it was okay.

Many thanks go to Dot Hutchinson, Thomas and Mercer, and Netgalley for the free copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review. Each Collecter Series book has a different POV. The Summer Children is expressed from Detective Mercedes Ramirez's eyes. Children are being left on her front porch-bloody and with teddy bears. Their parents are being killed in front of them. Who's doing the killing but sparing the children and why?I've enjoyed every book in this series. Hutchinson is original and her stories are fast-paced. I read them in one night. Her cast is diversified also so her books speak to today's audience. It's easy to get lost in her pages.
