Elizabeth Hayley always delivers such fun reads that they are an easy choice when I’m looking for a book that will make me smile while giving me a story I can’t put down. The chemistry Gavin and Blake had while working together at a coffee shop boils to the surface when the two of them start sharing a small space.
Well-written and witty Misadventures With My Roommate was a delightfully fun and sexy read. The Misadventure series are all standalone novels and this was the first one I personally read but I loved the concept and will definitely be looking to read more.

I’n loving the Misadbenture stories. I love that many authors have collaborated in writing this series but the books are all stand Alones. You can jump in and read book number 10, Misadventures with My roomate, then read book 2. This was my first read by author, Elizabeth Hayley. It was just an ok read for me. Had a hard time relating to the characters and the story line.
I’d love to check out another book by this author, perhaps a different story line would have wow’d me.
Thank you Netgalley for an early advance digital copy for my honest review.
This story was mediocre. Reading this book felt like an obligation and I hate feeling that way. I had to force myself to finish this book because the characters just was not interesting to me.
I guess I already told you how I felt about it, so you are probably wondering what was this book all about? Basically it is about roommates who have sex and falls in love, that is about it. Well…I guess I do owe you a real review, so I will tell you the blurb. Don’t get too excited though.
This book is part of a popular series called Misadventures and the books are written by different authors and each book is a stand-alone. I think there about 15, if I'm not mistaken. Anyways, this story gives us Blake, a quirky, non-filter having girl with a dry sense of humor and we have Gavin, a photographer and the complete opposite of Blake. Blake and Gavin are actually co-workers at a local coffee shop and Blake's roommate just moved out and Gavin needs a place to sleep. So why not move in together after knowing each other for about a week. Its fate, I tell ya. So they move in together, get it on, and someone catches feelings. Can you guess who it was? It isn't who you think it is.
The one thing that I liked about this book was the role reversal with the emotional unavailable character and the character willing to have a relationship. In this case, the former would be Blake and the latter would be Gavin and that kept the book a little interesting. Their relationship was cute in its own way and Gavin really carried this story with his humbleness. He was sweet, he had aspirations, and mommy and daddy issues. It gave his character depth and heart and I am so thankful for that because Blake did not. Blake was very mysterious with a troubled childhood who also had mommy and daddy issues, but in a totally different context. There were some humor here and there and their heart to heart was moving.
Now I have to tell you what I DID NOT like about this story. I felt like the author was trying too hard with the Blake character. She was supposed to be this eccentric, weird individual with dry humor, but she came off as childish and that really bothered me. The pacing was slow and nothing was happening. It took me waaaaay too long to finish this book because I lost interest in the characters. I have read about 5 of the misadventures books and I really only liked only 3 of them. I don’t think that I would be reading anymore of these. These books do nothing for me and it has no real story line. I was so relieved when I finished this book, so I can move on to my next book.
I received an early copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
Another great addition to the Misadventures series!
My rating scale:
5☆ - I loved this book and it brought out true emotion in me (laughter, anger, a good cry, etc)
4☆ - I loved this book.
3☆ - I liked this book.
2☆ - I didn't really care for this book.
1☆ - I did not like this book at all and probably did not finish it.
A charming romance book that will make you fall in love with the characters. An adorable story of young love with the charm we all want in our life.
Love th MisAdventures series. Each book is a standalone by a different author but they are all so good I suggest reading themall. Quick sweet steamy read.
Misadventures with my Roommate was a very enjoyable read and I can't wait to read more in the series and more by Elizabeth Hayley.
Misadventures with My Roommate was a cute book. I really enjoyed it and have quite a few laughs while reading it as well.
This was my first Elizabeth Hayley booked, and I LOVED it. The heroine is laugh-out-loud funny. This didn't feel like the typical roommate romance, which I appreciated. I loved the witty banter between the two leads, and I will definitely be purchasing more books by this author duo. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good, fast-paced, steamy romance.
Another great misadventures read! I enjoyed it from start to finish. It was witty, funny, hot, and romantic at times. Blake is the pane without a filter who talks before she thinks & Gavin is the hottie who seems to get her. The two balance each other and it’s adorable.

This is another entertaining read from the Misadventures Series and the first I have read by this author. Blake works at a coffee shop. She is refreshing as she has no filter and says whatever she thinks. However, there are those people who see her quirkiness as a character flaw which leads her to have somewhat of a revolving door when it comes to roommates. Gavin is Blake’s colleague at the coffee shop and is tasked with showing her the ropes. The more time he spends with her the more endearing she becomes. When Gavin is evicted from his apartment, Blake offers her the empty room at her place. After giving it some thought, Gavin moves in. These two characters just seem to fit together perfectly like coffee and a muffin. They are steamy and sweet. However, each one carries their own baggage from the past. Even though they share their personal histories with each other, they will need to figure out what they really want. This is one passion filled adventure that will have you laughing and engrossed until the end.
I volunteered to read an arc provided by Netgalley.
Another fun romp in the Misadventures series! This time we have Blake, who has had a difficult life. Choosing not to dwell on her troubles, she finds herself in need of a roommate and her fellow coffee shop employee, Gavin, who has been cut off from his wealthy family fits the bill. Their relationship is explosive and hot! Don't miss this new Misadventures novel!
iARC from NetGalley for an honest review and I loved the book so much I bought it. This is my first book by Elizabeth Hayley and it won’t be my last. Misadventures with My Roommate was a fun and sexy read. I found myself laughing out loud to all the quirky, emotional, and clever interaction between the characters. I found Blake quirky, outspoken, while Gavin was sweet, charming, and sexy I recommend this book to everyone!
I believe this is the first book I have read by Elizabeth Hayley but I have read several of the Misadventure books and have really enjoyed them, so I thought I'd give this one a try. Gavin and Blake are made for each other, Blake is a little bit of a character, she says what she thinks no matter what the consequences may bring but taking Gavin on as a roommate when he finds himself needing to find a place on short notice will be an adventure all on its own.
Another great story for this series. It was so entertaining and hot between Blake and Gavin that you just don't know what to expect next. Blake Monroe has had a tough life growing up and is a little different from most people that she takes some getting use to. Blake's humor and lack of filter on things are just so funny and you never know what she will say!
Blake meets Gavin Gibson at the coffee house that they both work. She immediately lets him know she's interested in him and Gavin finds her honesty and humor entertaining. When Blake finds out that Gavin needs to look for another place to live, she offers him a place in her apartment since her roommate abruptly moves out (she couldn't put up with Blake's quirkiness anymore). Gavin and Blake sharing an apartment together is entertaining to see because Blake isn't shy about being interested in Gavin for sex! She finally gets his attention when she straight out tells him what she wants. Blake is not shy about what she wants and she just wants a physical relationship with Gavin since she knows that eventually everyone gets tired of her and her outlook on life. Things between Blake and Gavin are great but then they started getting personal and telling each other about their past that they've never told any one else. Blake starts to freak out and Gavin knows he's falling for Blake but doesn't want to lose her. Each of them needs to work through their issues and figure out what they want from each other.
Blake's openness is so entertaining to read about and makes the story so funny and romantic. Gavin's acceptance of Blake for who she is is refreshing since most people probably couldn't handle someone like Blake for a long period of time. They are each accepting of the other and that's a great for a lasting relationship!
This is the first I've read from this author, and I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the character quirks the author included- they enhanced the story but didn't take over it. Witty, charming, light hearted, and romantic. Perfect combination for a winner!
Blake and Gavin are the cutest. I love how they met, their chemistry, and their ending. misadventures has a hit with this one. Elizabeth Hayley knows how to write a sex scene. Cold showers were needed. Definitely read this one!
Misadventures with my Roomate by Elizabeth Hayley was a good read. Blake and Gavin work together at one of their jobs. They decide to become roommates when the opportunity arises. They are complete opposites and don’t realize that they are actually perfect for each other. I loved reading this book and can’t wait to read more of the misadventures series.
Blake is such a unique character and I think I would've enjoyed the book more had we been given the opportunity to learn more about her. Gavin was the perfect counterpart to ground her quirkiness and the chemistry between them was entertaining. While I did like the book, it felt very one dimensional and I found myself putting it down several times because I had a hard time connecting with any of the characters and the story as a whole beyond the surface. Misadventures with my Roommate has great potential though and I think that the authors could make it great by expounding on the characters and fleshing out the plot a bit more. 3 out of 5 wine glasses.
My first experience with the Misadventures series wasn't the best but "My Roommate" sounded like it was something I would really enjoy...which I did. Blake Monroe and Gavin Gibson were great together from beginning to end. Their chemistry was on point, laced with a great sense of humor. Their respective backstories and how they supported each other made you love them even more. The story kept a natural yet quick pace that kept you turning pages. This is definitely one of those afternoon or late night binge reads that you won't want to put down until you finish.
