I have to admit to a soft spot for Lottie Parker. She is a mother to three teens/young adults, she has a difficult mother and a demanding job. She is also very real and in each book, the author lets us know that Lottie has hardly had an easy time of it in the past and she battles her demons every day. That makes me like her character even more.

There is so much going on in this book, I don't even know where to start. It can easily be read as a standalone but it is much better when the series is read in order.

Thanks to an eagle-eyed mourner at a funeral, a young woman's body is discovered at the bottom of an open grave. Who is she, how did she get there and what of the woman who heard screams in the middle of the night? This is far from an easy case and there are a lot of family dynamics which come into play as well, with both victims and suspects. Inbetween trying to solve this case, Lottie has to contend with a hostile supervisor, her mother's odd behaviour and some devastating developments for her family.

This was a real page-turner of a book and I swear my heart stopped on several occasions.

5 well deserved stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This is the 5th book in the DCI Lottie Parker series which started with "The Missing Ones." Love, jealousy and prejudice can do strange things to people. Girls are disappearing on regular train journeys and bodies are turning up. Lottie Parker and Mark Boyd are assigned to join the dots, anticipate and catch the perpetrator. Apart from the interesting cases what makes this series stand out above others is the sparky, feisty rapport between Lottie and Mark. They bicker like two kids in the back of the car but amusingly not annoyingly. Lottie is particularly abrasive in this book. She's tetchy, overwrought and downright unprofessionally rude at times. She's having a rough time at work and in her personal life. I'm really getting to know this team now which adds interest and intrigue. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture. I look forward to the next book.

Fantastic A++++++ all the way!
Brilliant to get back into the life of Lottie and her family and work. Amazing unputdownable!

Highly dramatic, expertly written, and so difficult to put down. In fact, I didn't! Irish detective Lottie Parker and her crackerjack team of Boyd, Lynch, and Kirby have to solve a baffling case of murder of one woman and disappearances of two others, with a pushy interim commanding officer and an annoying journalist breathing down their necks. As always, the team has problems in their personal lives which also make the story interesting, but never eclipses or distract from the fact that these men and women are working hard to solve their cases.

Lottie's relationships seem to be less angsty in this one, perhaps the two most concerning are the ones she has with her mother, Rose, and Boyd. Of the latter, I am just so concerned about him. Mark Boyd is always supportive of Lottie Parker and I think it's time this woman realizes what all us female readers recognize- "Don't let this beautiful man walk out the door." Can you tell how much I care???

Honestly, I count myself fortunate because every book in this series, I have read via NetGalley and I have absolutely devoured with a level of reading enjoyment that has never been matched by any of my other ARCs. Seriously, this series should NEVER end!

Another heart-racing, nail biting, suspenseful crime thriller from this incredible author! She never fails to deliver and with each book gets better and better. She is definitely one of the best crime writers of today and one of my personal favourites. Loved this page turning, stupendously plotted, fast paced story and I am waiting impatiently for the next in this brilliant series.

Well, well, I can't believe it's book 4 all ready. It's great to be back with the dysfunctional Lottie Parker. Her home life is chaos, her whole life is chaos. What a brilliant character she is.
Ragmullin is the setting, and a young woman has gone missing. Then a body is found in the cemetery, as a funeral about to take place.
We then have another girl go missing, it's a race against the clock for Lottie and her team to get to grips with what the hell is going on.
Alongside this we have Lottie's private life, to put it mildly it's a bit crazy.
I feel this is what helps the character of Lottie stay real. I love the relationship she has with her partner Boyd, the banter between them and honesty with each other is great. Everyone needs someone that they can trust to work with.
I really do love this series of books, each one seems to get better with a bigger story.
A totally gripping and unputdownable read. Keeps you wanting more right up to the end.
Patricia Gibney certainly knows how to write a page turner. Personally I would say read the other books first, but I also think this would be fine as a standalone.

Book 4 in the DI Lottie Parker and like all the other books in the series, it’s a cracker of a read. This time Lottie and her team are investigating the disappearance of a young girl who travels daily on the Ragmullin to Dublin train and the discovery of a body in an open grave. Are these cases anything to do with the disappearance of a young woman ten years ago ? Along with trying to solve the case we hear more about the personal lives of Lottie and her family and the rest of the team. I love the way Ms Gibney incorporates the personal stuff with the police investigations. Another 5 star read from this author. I can’t wait for book 5.

This book did NOT disappoint. As usual I find myself wanting more when I turn the last page.

Gibney's pen can write no wrong!

This fourth installment in the DI Lottie Parker series is every bit as interesting and captivating as the three before it. The characters are written so realistically, that I now feel as if they are familiar friends I get to hang out with each time a new book arrives in my e-reader.

In this continuation of Lottie's story, the sexual tension between Lottie and Boyd ratchets up to an all time high. And, as par for the course, Lottie is fighting her feelings and unwilling to admit them to Boyd or to herself. She is also still battling her personal demons, but doesn't let those interfere with doing her job with all the dedication and intensity readers have come to expect. But, with a temporary, new boss "in house", who is trying his best to get her fired, Lottie must walk a fine line and try fervently to keep her sarcastic mouth shut (not two of her best virtues).

The pressure mounts, when the dead body of a missing girl turns up in the graveyard and other girls start vanishing from the local train station. And, Lottie and her team are stretched thin, when it seems as if a cold case from 10 years prior looks like it may tie in to the recent disappearances. Now, they are in a race against time to save the missing girls, both of whom have personal ties to the team.

As if all of this is not enough, Lottie and her family suffer a tragic and devastating loss that will change the course of their lives forever.

I am SO addicted to this series, and I am already phenomenally excited for the 5th book. It can't come out fast enough! Gibney has swiftly climbed into the top ranks of my favorite authors list. I highly anticipate her books more than ANY other author's, with the exception of Dean Koontz. Being second only to Koontz? I have a feeling Gibney will take that any day!

This is the 4th instalment in the Lottie Parker series and what a cracking read it is. I have read all the books in the series and they just get better and better.
The story continues with Lottie Parker and her team investigating the disappearance of Elizabeth Byrne that got off a train from Dublin and an incident where Traveller Bridie McWard reports that she hears a woman screaming from the cemetery next door. Other people thinks she is hearing things but, Lottie is the only one taking her report seriously. They discover as a funeral is just about to take place, a body is found in a freshly dug grave. The story also builds on the relationships between her team especially Boyd, who is always at her side and also the relationship between her mother and her 3 kids, Chloe, Katie and Sean.
Patricia Gibney has done it again. This is another excellent instalment in the series, which I loved every minute of. The is a captivating page turner that I did not want to put down. I loved how we learnt more about Lottie. Although she got the job done, she was whiter than white cop. She had her flaws. It made her more human and especially when things are stacked up against her. This is grittier then her previous novels but I thought that made it more interesting.
Thank you Bookoutre and Netgalley for a copy of this book.

Another fast paced, chaotic case for Parker and her team. Well written and disturbing but with just the right amount of humour.
What could possibly be next for the team?

When the body of a young woman is found at the bottom of an open grave, Detective Lottie Parker fears that it could be Elizabeth Byrne who, only days earlier, vanished after getting on a train. The case stirs up memories of a past case for Corrigan, her superior officer, when another young woman from Ragmullin disappeared a decade ago in a similar way. A coincidence or could there be a connection? When two more women vanish in a similar fashion, Lottie fears that there is a serial killer at large. With major problems of her own and a new boss to contend with, this looks like being one of Lottie Parker’s most difficult cases to date.

No Safe Place follows on from the previous book The Lost Child but as this could still be read as a standalone, I will refrain from giving any spoilers! Lottie is still struggling with events from her past so when she discovers that her boss is going to have an operation and his post is being covered by someone she dislikes immensely, it is inevitable that she will, once again, turn to medication to get her through the day. Lottie is an incredibly tragic character yet at the same time is tenacious and totally committed to her job. I think most fans of this series are desperate for her to have a bit of luck in her life and it’s about time her and Boyd sorted themselves out once and for all!

The mystery is a fascinating one. Young women are going missing on a train and there are very few, if any, witnesses. Several suspects are put forward and it is not until the very end of the book that we finally discover the culprit and the reason behind them doing what they are doing. Patricia Gibney has done a fantastic job in concealing who the guilty party is to the point where the clues given could apply to more than one character. I liked how all the sub-plots linked together and whereas in some books these links could be tenuous, this was not the case here. All loose ends were tied up nicely and the conclusion was realistic and satisfying.

As in previous books, the author has thrown in a few curveballs which will, hopefully, be explored in subsequent books. One in particular (which linked to the previous book) was a shocker and I can’t wait to see what happens there!

This is a series that is going from strength to strength – Lottie is becoming one of those familiar fictional characters that seems as though they have been around forever. I hope there is much more to come!

I am a big a fan of this series and Detective Lottie Parker. Books 4 and still going strong. Just keeps getting better... and the endings - my goodness... give the woman a break!

This time we see Lottie and her team investigating a missing person case... that is until a body is found in a newly dug grave fro a funeral the next day. This body has been dead for a while so it can't be their missing person. So who is it? At the same time there are women going missing on the trains, just like a woman went missing almost 10 years ago to the day. It is all happening. Of course while these cases are going on Lottie is dealing with their family and the revelations from the previous book. Life just isn't meant to be easy for poor Lottie.

I really enjoyed this book. I love the relationships of the team as well and the families, it makes it all more real that these police have lives too. Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book to read and enjoy in exchange for my honest opinions

The fourth book in the Lottie Parker series . I absolutely love Lottie's character and her family !! They seem so real !!! Women are being abducted from the train station . A body is found in a open grave in the cemetery in Ragmullin . Another woman goes missing and this one seems simular to a case ten years earlier . This gripping and complex storyline kept me engrossed from the very first page. Having not read the previous books in the series I was not sure of what to expect but I was not disappointed. Fast paced and full of suspense this was a brilliant read.

This whole series has been absolutely incredible. I've loved the character of Lottie Parker (and Boyd!). I couldn't put down this fast paced read. DI Lottie Parker and the team are on the hunt for a killer who seems to have a connection to a murder 10 years before. Women are going missing when they get off the train from Dublin. It becomes all too close to home when Boyd's sister is taken. A roller-coaster of a read which I loved. Roll on book #5.

Gibney does it again! After reading the 3rd book in the series I couldn't wait to read the next one. Only problem with that is now I have to wait for the 5th book!! I have no patience! These last two books have been spot on. The mystery starts off with the disappearance of a young lady that is eventually found half buried beneath a waiting grave. (Not a spoiler--happens straight away) When another young lady goes missing, tensions arise. Especially since McMahon is back as Lottie's new boss--no love lost between them! Lottie is still balancing home life and work and still struggling with it all. I am glad that her kids aren't the main focus of her investigations anymore. I think that's why I'm loving the last two books. I hope I don't have to wait too long for the next book.

*Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a tremendous series which just gets better and better. The life of Lottie Parker is complicated enough as it is, as she juggles her home life and police work, but when a new boss arrives, with whom she has a less than cordial relationship, things get tougher still. She has to solve the disappearance and death of young women and try to work out the connection of current events to those of a decade ago. Brilliant!
