Looooved this book!!! Honestly love everything Mary Pearson, I'm just so obsessed with her writing and her characters. The world building is so concise and beautifully written I felt like I was there in the story with this great cast of characters.
I did not realize this was a spin off series when I requested. I have not read the original series, so I will not be reading and reviewing this one.
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review.
Do not sit on Mary E. Pearson's books! I read and immediately bought The Remnant Chronicles after reading it via the library. I was so happy when I found out she was writing another series within this world.
This book was so good! I didn't know what the characters were going to choose as far as their missions/duties vs each other. It was so good!
OH, how I devoured this! Started off a but rocky but God I could not get enough of the hate to love action! I loved Jase and Kazi and actually approved that this was dual POV. Those are usually hit or misses but each of them had strong voices and ugh, the romance was to swoooon for. I cannot wait to read the second book!
I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.
This has been on my TBR pile for so long, and I'm glad I finally got around to it. I really enjoyed the storyline and seeing the characters change throughout the story was a great character development. The plot was great and kept my attention. I'm glad I got the chance to read this and will be on the lookout for more in the future!
Mary E. Pearson does it again! I absolutely loved The Remnant Chronicles so I was excited to dive into that world again. This book surprised me in that it explored a section of the world and a group of characters that should feel both foreign and familiar to anyone who read and enjoyed The Remnant Chronicles.
YA Peaky Blinders meets Romeo and Juliet set in a remote corner of The Remnant Chronicles. I swooned, gasped, and devoured the book. Fast paced, action packed, and a sizzling and tender romance.
I'm pretty sure it's impossible for Mary E. Pearson to write a bad story. She is hands down one of the best world builders, and I'm so glad she returned to the Remnant Chronicles with this book. I am a sucker for well written tropes and she hands down delivered! The swoony romance in this novel is perfect for you romance lovers out there but the cast of characters is phenomenal. Kazi is incredible! I'm completely obsessed with this morally gray character, who is a street thief turned investigator by the Queen to determine issues happening in Hell's Mouth, a job that is anything but simple. There she meets Jase (Did I mention swoony romance???). Overall this book was just the right blend of plot, characters, world building and beautiful writing!
I absolutely love this author! This spinoff if apart of a world that is one of my favorites. I am so thrilled to be reading more from this world. I cannot wait to read the sequel!
My first read from her and I could not finish this book. It did not flow well for me and it took too long to get to an entertaining part. The characters did not entice me to keep going.
Unfortunately, I didn't have time to finish this book, and cannot provide substantial feedback. I really liked what I have read, and hope to finish it when I have the chance (I loved the Kiss of Deception--Pearson is a favorite of mine)!
This book was an okay read- besides the fact that it had me confused 80% of the time. I don’t mean the “what on earth is going on- what is this fantasy world?” confusion, just the plot itself. It felt as if the author was trying to squeeze many different tropes into one book and call it a day. It was rushed in some parts, and extremely dragged out in others. Don’t get me wrong- the characters were nice, but I didn’t find myself having any attachment to them whatsoever. There was no background, barely any description of the family, and the dynamics between all the characters in the book alternated between modern humor/wit to ancient monologues/thoughts.
When I requested this one I did not realize it was part of a series and that I would need to read the other books
A twisty fantasy companion to Remnant Chronicles. Takes a bit to get the plot moving but the character interactions between Kazi and Jase shine. Complications feel genuine and I ship the ship. The ending is (still) rude.
I wish I had known this book was a spinoff of a prior series because I think it would have helped me get into what exactly was happening in this story/world sooner. I eventually got there, but it took MUCH longer.
Another enjoyable start to a new series by Mary Pearson. Her Remnant Chronicles series was very good. This story is similar to that series. In Dance of Thieves, you get the dual perspectives from the two main characters. Another strong female lead who is tough yet vulnerable when it comes to her heart. A rough around the edges male counterpart who is a leader, but not without feelings. Kazi and Jase are both harboring secrets and loyalties that are tough to break. Both sides have family/friends who don't approve of their relationship, so tensions run high throughout the story. Lots of drama with kidnappings, betrayal, and lies. Will their love be enough?
Overall, I did enjoy the story and I'm looking forward to the second and final book in this duology: Vow of Thieves. If you like YA Romance than you should try this series. Enemies to lovers romance is the main theme in this story. The book is long at over 500 pages, so be prepared for that. A good series to add to your high school library.
I have not had the time or interest to get through this book, unfortunately. I requested based on the author and would love to get to it eventually.
I could never get into Dance of Thieves. May have been the time when I was trying to read it, but I just didn't find it engaging.
I did not get the chance to read this ARC prior to the book's publication, but we did end up buying it for our library collection.
The story was an interesting one to follow. Everyone is pretty much lying to everyone else. In the end those lies will have consequences. Some of the consequences are good and some are bad. It was an interesting story that was weaved and kept me captivated until the end. I look forward to reading book 2.
I tried to read this ARC MANY times but unfortunately I couldn't stay interested because the plot moves way to slow for my taste
