I really couldn't get into this book. Everything seemed force between Jenna and William. I may give it another chance.
This is an enjoyable story of second chances and returning to faith. As I read, I kept thinking that this would make a great Hallmark movie. I liked the characters, enough that I would like to read a sequel to this story. I only wish the ending had played out just a little bit longer. It would have been nice to have had an epilogue to take us just a bit farther into the future of the main characters. I’ll be looking for more release from this author.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to give a positive review. This is my honest opinion about this book.
The Builder's Reluctant Bride Is a book of 2nd chances. Lost love. This is a chance of restoration in relationships with people and GOD - HIM most of all, as it should be. You have restoration of trust, faith, love, respect and the list goes on and on. There is redemption in the Spirit in joy in the LORD. It is a journey, a long hard one but one worth traveling - once was lost but now is found. And in this story someone was and that is the truth and now they're full of joy.
I received a copy from NetGalley; this is my honest review. #TheBuilder'sReluctantBride #NetGalley
-I didn't see the love building between William and Jenna. I couldn't, actually, see it coming even though it was their story.
-I know Jenna kept away from God, but wow did she act before thinking - all the time. Didn't even stop to clarify before stumbling to false conclusions - all the time.
-William wasn't better. As his father said "you didn't try hard enough" and he kept repeating the same mistake every time he needed to discuss something with Jenna.
-Lots of prayers, sermons, verses, and sit-down talks, wasting a lot of pages.
-Too much drama for my taste, from the accident prone designer hurting people, to her step over boundaries problems, to grief and pain and misunderstandings.
- I liked William's drive to save his family, the farm, his soul. I liked Jenna's drive to redo her life, survive the past, and get to know God again.
The Builder’s Reluctant Bride is a well written inspirational romance. Loved the plot and the characters. I recommend to readers who enjoy a good clean romance.
Not for me. Beginning felt like it should actually be the middle of a novel; jumped right into a romance with a backstory the reader didn't know but obviously needed to. Seemed extremely forced.
Jenna is back in her home town to help with the rebuilding of the church she just never expected who her new partner was going to be. William could not believe that she is back and he wanted a second chance at her. However she came back broken and he needs to convince her to trust him. Can they work together or will it just be to much and send Jenna running again?
I have never read anything by Ms. Weeks so I wasn't sure what to expect with this book but it caught my attention and so what did I have to loose. I will say I was not disappointed this book was so good. I loved the sweet story and the powerful healing and seeking in the book. The author held nothing back it discussed some very tough subjects. I loved how this book was a good clean read, I also enjoyed that it seemed to flow and there was not lacking of slow points in it. Such fun characters and such closeness in a small town. This book is a quick read and well worth it. If you are looking for a fun read this book will not disappoint.
This was the first book I have read from this author and I really enjoyed it. This book was an inspiring read for those who have make terrible mistakes in the past and feel like they don't deserve God's forgiveness. It is a sweet love story between high school sweethearts who have experience loss and trials to find each other through God's providence.
There's so much to love about a good romance story that centers around God's love and glory. Ms Weeks definitely knows how to write a story that draws you in with characters who become dear to your heart, and who put God above all else, proclaiming that through Him is grace and mercy all our trials and tribulations as well as strengths and wonders are in His hands and come to us through His love.
This story contained all those attributes and invoked a joyful celebration for William and Jenna’s HEA as the story ended...these characters became that real for me.
From what I can see from Ms Weeks’ writing, she has an inborn ability to write stories that entertain and carry a message...this is a true gift from God.
