Since I was a teen, I’ve loved vampire stories. They’re among my favorite paranormal romances. So when I saw Tokyo’s Last Vampire, it was a given that I wanted to read it.

First of all, the cover’s absolutely fantastic. Second, the synopsis intrigued me. The world torn by a rift, into divisions. A dystopian world fallen into the dark ages. As if that wasn’t enough, the paranormal had come out to play. Witches and Vampires, both races fighting for supremacy.

I found Valaria’s story quite heartbreaking – what happened to her, how she was turned into a vampire. The nightmare and trauma of that period of her life. The emotions came out through the words and gripped me hard.

The plot-line was interesting with unexpected twists and turns. The ending was a bit predictable but Tokyo’s Last Vampire was a good story.

I really liked this reading, even if it’s not the best UF ever. Something was lacking, to be completely honest with you, even if I don’t know what. But I enjoyed the reading nonetheless.

Valaria Valentin is a good character, I am not too fond of her, but I didn’t have problems with her, either. Maybe she’s not so memorable, but I liked her and I loved her name. Kenshin, on the other hand, was a really good character and I really liked him! I liked him a lot, even if he seems a little bit off-character. I mean, he’s the son of one of the Yakuza families, one of the most powerful, but he really doesn’t seem a criminal or a person growth in a family in which be a part of the family is a big responsibility. It didn’t bothered me during the reading but now that I am writing the review I thought about it and it seemed strange, that’s all.

The world-building is interesting and original. It’s true that in UF there isn’t a lot of space for originality, but the idea of the author is not abused and developed in new ways, and original is also make me see something that I have seen time and time again with new eyes, and the author does that with her world, so I enjoyed the reading a lot.

The story is intriguing and even if some of the author’s choices didn’t sit so well with me, the book is fast-paced and it’s not demanding. Maybe it’s not the best book if you are in search of a really good UF, but it’s the right book if you want something not demanding and fast to read, that would keep you company for one afternoon. And from time to time I really need this kind of books.

Valaria Valentin lives in a city that is covered by a dome. Valaria and her family were vacationing in Tokyo when disaster strikes and her family are gone and she is left all alone. Valaria and her family are separated doing the Rift. After the Rift a witch, Hana and a vampire, Juro finds her and takes her in and become her adoptive parents. The Rift occurred because a witch tried to break the vampire curse.

At eighteen years old she is attacked by some men and left for dead her Juro finds her and has no choice but turn her into a vampire. As they say, when you are a vampire you get to watch everyone around you die and that is just what Valaria did as she was the last vampire in Tokyo.

When a good friend of Valaria’s is taken by the Kami witches she sets out to find her friend and bring her home. While she is out trying to find her friend she meets this guy Kenshin whom she doesn’t seem to get along with in the beginning. Valaria and Kenshin decide that it would be best for both of them if they joined forces to find her friend.

I love dystopian books and when I read the summary for Tokyo’s Last Vampire I had to read it. I love that the author took vampires and witches and then set them in a dystopian/apocalyptic world and with the last vampire that is just awesome. Tokyo’s Last Vampire is the kind of book that will grab your attention from the first page and won’t let go until you have read the last word, maybe. I would love to read more about Valaria, Kenshin and all the other characters and their world.

I would recommend Tokyo’s Last Vampire to all vampire, witches, and dystopian fans.

On the cover we see Valaria Valentin, she holds a kind of wooden object. The story tells us that once a witch tried to break the curse of the vampire for his beloved. This spell has distorted the world and left as a rift. Valaria now lives in remnants of a concrete and glass garden formerly known as Tokyo, known as Division 12. A purge has been made and she ends up being the last vampire. His one and only friend Kami is kidnapped by local witches. She will do everything to save her friend.

A beautiful story of vampires as I love them, look forward to reading others.

Warning does contain sexual assault. It’s hard to describe this one, you think it’s about one thing and then it changes. This is one for the feminists. I didn’t like or dislike the main character. I did like Kenshin though, his attitude and the way he acts.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Shadow Quill for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. First time reading this author. Wasn't sure what to expect. Really enjoyed it. It was a quick fun read. Enjoyed the strong characters and the story. Not a true romance but just a hint. They fell in love. I would recommend this to paranormal romance readers and fantasy readers. I rated it a solid 4.
