This was a strange book to read. The author is apparently a semi-famous person in the Irish-American community and is hired by the campaign of Jesus Chuy Garcia, one of the many Democratic mayoral candidates opposing Rahm Emmanuel, to introduce him to this influential vote bank. In February, Garcia manages the unthinkable - a runoff (Emmanuel did not get above 50% of vote and Garcia got 34%) - no idea is given as to how many of the Irish voted for him but the author remains a part of the campaign till April elections. Even though he lost, I think Garcia managed to accomplish a pretty decent result against Emmanuel and other candidates (44% to his 55%).

I am on the fence about the author.

The one thing that stood out for me was the daily number of gun-related deaths in Chicago - that the author notes for each day of the 4 months he was on campaign trail - a number that is shocking in its propensity and regularity.
