I wasn't sure about the heroine at the start of this book but I'm happy to say I found Mia strong and sympathetic. The story was emotionally satisfying and entertaining. I'm looking forward to the next story.

Quick and rather enjoyable read. Prissy Manhanttan public relations consultant with a perchant for designer wear is forced to babysit her politician-running-for-NYC-major's troubled teenaged daughter who has to serve her community services sentence at a horse rescue farm/B&B inn in upstate Hudson Valley. Ethan Bishop sustained career-ending injuries during a failed Special Forces mission. The man he was to rescue did not make it. He has returned back to his family's B & B to recuperate and reevaluate his life. Still racked with feelings of guilt and self-flagellation, he has no time nor patience to deal with an irritable, carb-starved woman with perfect manicure, brand-named clothing and ridiculous footwear totally unsuitable for a farm retreat. Mia Thrush (yes, that truly is her surname) turns out to be the itch that won't be cured by anti-yeast cream. She doesn't want to be there. He certainly doesn't want her there, but they're stuck together for 3 months sharing the responsibility of looking after Chloe, the supposedly spoilt delinquent, who turns out to be anything but. Mia and Ethan slowly also revise their initial poor first impressions of one another.

The premise is a bit eye-rollingly unrealistic, however the chemistry is superb between Mia and Ethan and I like their interactions with Chloe also, although at 19, she ought to be treated as an adult rather than a recalcitrant child to be grounded and dobbed on. I like the supporting characters -the meddlesome, libidinous and adventurous group of retirees, Ethan's sisters and the menagerie of animals especially the highly-strung rooster, Hei Hei.

I just can’t read on.
Chloe is the only character who has sparked my interest so far.
Mia comes across as unprofessional, pretentious and annoying. She had nothing to do this summer? Really? I thought she planned on working from the B&B. And who in their right mind gives a guy with PTSD a troubled teenager to supervise.
So far the story feels like it is dragging and I am not keen on continuing. Reading the other 2 and 3 Star Reviews reflect what I have experienced so far. This is a DNF for me.
As with any book I don’t finish I only post my feedback on NG and GR

I laughed. I cried. An emotional and heart-warming romance. Teen issues, animal issues, parenting, and more. Not fond of intimate details, so I skipped over those parts. There were words that I wished had been chosen instead of the ones used. Despite my own mental restrictions, the story was engaging and I had to read it until the satisfactory conclusion. I do look forward to reading the next one.

A sweet story between an ex-military and a PR successful women Mia. Ethan returns bitter in his hometown to help his sister at the inn and farm after leaving the army after injury. Mia comes to their farm as supervisor of his client daughter. After dislikes at first from their both sides sparks are soon flying and they start hot summer affair. Mia, I didn't like at first because I saw her like Ethan saw her and frankly all the bling and her way of clothing had also not helped me to like her. But you could see that she has a big heart and I really liked what she did toward the end and how she accepted the small town and the nature that she at first despised. Ethan was at first bitter and also not a character to love but he also changed toward the end. A funny, sweet, emotional story that is beautifully wrapped in a great read.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly.

When you try to escape and avoid romance then the unexpected can happen. Using his sisters b&b will be a perfect escape. Until a women arrives who has a special charm to him. When sparks fly and he tries to stay out of their line he inevitably fails.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Ethan has basically become a hermit allowing himself little joy in his life. He was injured in his last mission & suffers from his wounds, PTSD, & survivor's guilt. He's come home to bury himself at the horse farm & try to survive. Mia is a big town publicist. She's sent to the B & B after her client's daughter was assigned community service at the horse farm. From the beginning Alex & Mia struck sparks off each other. He didn't like her persona & felt she was spoiled & self centered. Mia thought Alex was rude & boorish. Can they find a way to survive the summer?

Ethan & Mia both have been damaged in different ways & are fighting back the best way they can. They both needed someone to push them out of their comfort zone & into changes. At first, I couldn't see this relationship work out but as I read, the characters seemed to learn from past mistakes & began to grow. I enjoyed these characters & the premise. The use of animals just seemed to underscore the way they comfort & love us unconditionally. A great start to a new series.

I have been wanting to read a book by this author for what seems like forever, so I I was incredibly excited to get my hands on this ARC. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. I really didn't like Mia and that feeling seemed to only grow the more she opened up. I felt like her circumstances didn't justify her prickliness, and when she and Ethan started letting their guard down and developing feelings for each other, I didn't feel connected to them at all. I did enjoy the writing here, and the premise sounded so promising. I would definitely try this author again, but this one didn't work for me.

I fell in love with Ethan, the brooding, handsome, former soldier with more wounds and emotional trauma than most. Ethan returns to his homestead to recover and heal. But Ethan holds most of that inside and only his inner circle is aware of his PTSD and long term healing process. Add to Ethan's return a high-powered, NYC, PR agent, Mia who is stuck on the family horse farm with an obnoxious teenager serving community service time for vandalism.

The ebb and flow of the story is enough to keep the reader engaged and waiting for the next scene to unfold. I loved the intertwining of several stories within one and am looking forward to the next installment, I can't wait to read the love story for the sisters and I hope a new love interest will be introduced for Mia's client, the political candidate, also father of the delinquent Chloe, Jonathan.Lake. I really like Jonathan a lot and he needs a love interest soon.

I had read and enjoyed some of Jennifer’s other books, so I requested this one without even reading the synopsis.

I really liked Mia and Ethan. They’re both stubborn and struggling with something and much more alike than they think. The banter and button pushing was fantastic. And their messed up meet cute turned absolute irritation made for a delicious foundation of hate to love. Ethan’s sisters were sweet and I’m guessing they’ll be getting their own books.

Plot wise it was good. There was a lot of open communication and the main conflict was a summer romance with the distance of where they each lived at the end of it. Thankfully, it was all quickly resolved. I would have liked a bit more at the epilogue. I thought Mia and Ethan deserved more than the set up for the next book, but hopefully we’ll get to see them then.

Overall, it was a strong start to a new series. I’m eager to read what’s next.

**Huge thanks to Montlake Romance for providing the arc free of charge**

I got the ARC of this book from netgalley.
I liked the book and thought Mia’s attempts at no carb diet were hilarious. I liked the bis where Ethan challenged her to eat something but him insisting she eat sweets made me uncomfortable. I loved how Mia’s career was important and she goes back to finish her task but I would have liked the compromise that the sister suggested better than how it was done in the book .

I really enjoyed this book. Although at times Mia and Ethans story seemed a little predictable it was a very enjoyable read. I can't wait to read Ophelia's story! #TheStartOfSomethingGood #NetGalley

Enthralled. That was me while reading this book. While I didn't care for Mia's character at first, and Ethan was an a-hole in beginning, these characters really drew me in and I definitely loved them and was rooting for them in the end. They both grew during the story and it wasn't a love at first sight quick read. The summer they spent together with Chloe and Ethan's sisters was a growth time for both and I'm glad the ending turned out the way it was. I'm highly anticipating the next book in the series.

If you are in the mood for a great novel with romance, tension, conflicts, and witty dialog, this is for you! A feisty, independent, career oriented woman is forced into effectually babysitting a nineteen year old belligerent girl meets a ticked off, assumption making man and their lives are taken on an adventure. Neither one is who they initially seem to be as each has more depth than first assumed. But, she lives and works in New York and he lives on a horse farm upstate New York. For eight short weeks their lives entwine and blend while both strive to crack the hard shell around the teen.
The Start of Something Good is the first of a series and I am definitely looking forward to future installments.

I have to admit, while I liked The Start of Something Good, it wasn't one of my favorites of Probst's books. While I enjoyed Mia and Ethan's early banter, I wasn't super wowed by their romance. Still, I enjoyed their sweet moments.

Regardless, I'm interested to see where Probst takes this serious, and to get to know more about Ophelia and Harper, and what they're stories are.

This was such a sweet story. The first book of a new series by Jennifer Probst and I can honestly say I'm hooked already. Mia and Ethan start off on the wrong foot right off the bat and things just get more heated after the initial run in. Mia's happy with her life--or so she thinks--so when her business lands her in the middle of nowhere, basically babysitting, for the summer, she's less than enthused. Ethan has come home from military duties with wounds to heal--both inside and out. When he's faced with a teen and her "aunt", he's just annoyed to have yet another thing to deal with. But then things change. The more they are thrown together, the deeper their feelings start to run...

Jennifer Probst has this way of telling stories and this series is off to that same great start. Her characters are engaging, the storylines are entertaining and the writing is easy to read and get lost within. She's started an intricate web with this first book and I am looking forward to the rest of this series!

This latest book by Jennifer Probst is the start of a new series, and a great start at that! Mia and Ethan while at first glance might seem like polar opposites. Well actually they are complete opposites, but that is exactly why they work as a couple. Ethan is a former special ops soldier that is suffering from PTSD. He wants nothing more than to hide away in the country to try and rebuild his life. Whereas Mia is stuck staying at his family's inn for the summer, when she wants to be running her company and living in NYC. But together they manage to heal each other, while at the same time coming to realize what is most important in life.
This was a great small town romance with endearing characters, both human and animal. I'm looking forward to what Probst has in store for Ethan's two sisters as the series progresses.

Mia Thrush is determined to make it in the world of PR in the toughest city in the world. And if she sets some wrongs right in the process, so be it. Helping a good man get elected as mayor of NYC, is her priority, and that means she is going to the middle of nowhere to make sure his 19-year-old daughter does her community service sentence quietly and doesn't get into any more trouble in the meantime. All while the media doesn't hear a word about it. So what if Mia hates small farm towns, or that she doesn't own a piece of clothing that isn't city fashion? She'll figure it out. She always does. And while she is there, if she has to put up with a hunk of a man, who is rude and mean, she'll do that too. Returning to his sisters B&B and farm after his last Special Forces deployment, all Ethan Bishop wanted was to be left alone. He knew he had a lot of issues to work out, his body and spirit were wounded and he needed time to figure things out. Time a fiery blonde from the city wasn't inclined to give him. There is an instant irritation when they meet. But also an attraction. An attraction that develops and evolves into a friendship and an interest that grows into something more. If only their worlds weren't so far apart. Ethan can't fathom going back into the city, and Mia can't remain on the farm forever. But still, this is The Start of Something Good... With crazy farm animals named after Disney characters, elderly guests that ignore their age, a teenager silently asking for help, a rescued horse that captures everyone's hart, and a family that will bring it all home, this is an Inn that will have many more love stories to tell. Ethan is all alpha, sexy, honorable, and determined to make it work with Mia his feisty, independent, beautiful girl. The Start of Something Good is a fun, feel good, love story by Jennifer Probst.

Yay! As a fan of Jennifer Probst, I was very excited to be granted an arc for a new series. The Start of Something Good is the first in a new series. And definitely not related to her Billionaire series or her Searching for series. It is a great read and the promise of yet another great series.
We meet Mia, a carreerfocused woman in the PR business of Manhattan, who reluctantly agrees to come to the Hudson Valley in the middle of nowhere, to keep an eye on Chloe, the daughter of her client. Jonathan Lake is running for mayor and Mia helps his PR. But now he has a serious problem, since his daughter has vandalized property at school and she doesn't want to talk about the reasons why. Therefore she is sentenced to a summer of working on the range of the Bishop sisters.
Ethan has just returned home to the B&B horsefarm of his sisters, when he meets stuck up Mia. They clash immediately, but Chloe reminds him of himself. Therefore, Ethan takes Chloe under his wing, while annoying Mia further.
Mia is determined not to get aggravated by the handsome rugged cowboy. But somehow he gets under her skin. When Mia realizes they are more alike than she would have thought, the mutual attraction they feel grows into something more. Will these opposites attract or will they push each other away? Find out for yourself in this wonderful new read. Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
