The Start of Something Good is well written, filled with wonderful characters and a sweet storyline! I would make a great summer read!
Mia, Lucas and even Chloe all have baggage whether it is guilt, feelings of inadequacy, sadness or loss and they all need each other to heal and finally find their way. The animals were a perfect part of the story and added to both the fun and healing for each of them.
I hope that you take the time to enjoy this wonderful story.

"So others may live."

It's been a while since I indulged in a Jennifer Probst story, and it was just as awesome as I remembered. Her writing is so smooth and she never fails to make me fall in love with her characters. I'm thrilled that I found this treasure at the beginning of the new series so I can keep my eye out for the ones that follow. And let me tell you, after reading the sneak peek she snuck into the ending, the anticipation is gonna kill me.

The author introduced me to 'city Mia' first. I got a taste of her ambition and the things that checked her boxes. She has her future all mapped out and is very close to realizing her dream of being the most sought-after PR agent in Manhattan. And the client that's going to help her accomplish that is the reason she ends up at the Hudson Valley B&B. While a horse farm is the last place she wants to be, it's a necessary evil to get where she wants to go.

It was 'broody Ethan' that I met first. He's broken, inside and out, and just wants to be left alone with his misery. He came back home, but instead of staying in the B&B with his sisters he chooses to stay in the more remote bungalow on the property. So, you can imagine his surprise when she unexpectedly crashes into his solitude and starts throwing sass his way. He sets her straight and makes such a bad impression on her he doesn't expect to see her again. And me, I couldn't wait for them to see each other again. The sparks were flying and it was exciting to wait for the explosion that I knew was coming when they did.

I was totally invested in these characters quickly, including the amazing support characters that will be part of the series going forward, including the animals. The local residents along with Ethan's sisters are an interesting bunch that has me smiling just thinking about them. And then there are the B&B customers that come and go that add a splash of color too. And speaking of colors, red is the one that comes to mind. Not only does it reflect the tempers that flared it also represents the hotness that had me concerned that the barn might go up in flames.

This beautiful story has it all. Broken characters that will pull your heartstrings. Local flavor that will make you want to visit the area yourself. Delectable sweets that will have your mouth watering. Furry friends that will give you the giggles. Secrets and suspense to keep you guessing. And best of all love. But will love be enough? Do yourself a favor and one-click to find out, you won't be disappointed. The line forms here...

The Start of something Good is the first book in the Stay series!!

Ethan Bishop, gets back home after his injury during a Special forces mission. More than the physical injury that ended his career with special forces, the flashes of his failed mission haunts him in his sleep.. He is back to Hudson Valley, where his family owns a B&B & horse farm..

Mia Thrush, is the owner of a successful PR firm in Manhattan. She is close to achieving her dreams when she gains a Political Client Jonathan, running for the Mayor..
Mia is strong, independent, confident and hard working woman.. When Jonathan requests her help to be the guardian for his daughter who has been sentenced to community service at a horse farm in the country side, she doesnt have a choice other than accepting it..

When Ethan meets Mia, they clash in their first meeting.. They both dislike each other strongly at first.. However, with time they get to know each other well and feel a connection!! What begins as a summer fling, turns into something they both didnt expect!! However, with Mia living in the city and Ethan at the country side, they need to work to get their HEA..

I loved Ethan.. Though he's hurt physically and lost when he gets back home, he eventually finds his way to heal with Mia!! The way they find love and heal each other was beautiful..
And the other characters... Chloe, Ethan's sisters, and Hei Hei.. I loved all of them!!
I cant wait to read Ophelia's story next!!

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, and heartbreak.

This is Mia and Ethan story. Ethan's back home a little worse for wear and a little broken. All he's looking for is peace and quiet. Mia comes into his life and turns it upside down. She is the complete opposite of the quiet he needs. Tempers flare and passion ignites. But will the secrets of their past be the thing that tears them apart.

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book.

The Start of Something is the first title in the Stay series, a small town romance featuring a couple who are complete opposites, and in the beginning rub each other the wrong way.
Ethan Bishop is a brooding, intense, wounded alpha who has returned to his childhood home in order to find solitude to heal.
Mia Thrush is strong willed, independent, hard working, intelligent and loyal. She loves her heels and designer fashion, and is like a fish out of water away from the bright lights of the city.
The sexual chemistry oozes between this pair and is only intensified by their flirtatious, argumentative and sarcasm filled banter. Once they see past their initial misconceptions of each other the intense attraction they share turns into a palpable and passionate romance.
A thoroughly enjoyable read with strong themes of family, friendship and community and I look forward to future titles in this series.

Guarded city-girl meets closed-off small-town boy. Do they even have a chance, or are they doomed from the start? The Start of Something Good tells the charming story of Mia and Ethan, who both don’t know what they really want, but who find love anyway. I love their story.

“In that moment, he’d felt completely connected to her. Because he’d felt alive again. Because he’d felt seen for the first time.”

Mia is the owner of a small but successful PR-company and is always in control. Her love-life however is another story; she’s been burned a time or two too much and isn’t looking for a new guy any time soon. Being devoted to her clients’ careers, she tries to help them wherever she can, even if it means spending the summer in the countryside (the horror). This also places her in on the same farm as Ethan, former special forces/bodyguard who returned home after a brutal incident. He always wanted to leave the family-farm, but right now it’s the place he needs to be. Mia and Ethan are annoyed by each other, but they can’t fight a certain attraction…

“The bastard was seducing her at a Mama Mia play after feeding her luscious cupcakes and kissing her like the last woman on Earth. How was she supposed to fight it?”

Mia and Ethan are both good, serious people, who don’t mind some hard work. Mia as a PR specialist, Ethan on the farm doing hard, physical work. Both are shaped by their pasts, and both guard their heart. Mia is a true and true city girl, who’s horrified by the idea of small town life, farms, animals and everything that comes with it. Ethan is back to recover from physical and mental injuries, and to help out his sisters. Mia and Ethan together are sweet, they have chemistry and I love their banter.

The Start of Something Good is the first book in Jennifer Probst’s new ‘Stay Series’, and it has all the usual ingredients. A sweet heroine, a good guy hero, interesting siblings and a lot of descriptions; everything I like Jennifer Probst’s books for. It’s also a sweet story without over-the-top situations or problems with jealous exes; just two people trying to figure out how they can make it work. I can’t wait for the other books in the series!

“They’d started with something good, but they’d ended up with the best thing of all. Love.”

OK, let it be known that I'm a huge Jennifer Probst fan originating from the "Marriage to a Billionaire" series. It's still one of my absolute FAVORITES!!! I've read bits and pieces of her books here and there, and I was completely hooked on the "Searching For" series. So when her newest series "Stay" was announced, you can imagine my state of giddiness was on a new level!!! Jennifer Probst NEVER disappoints.

The Start of Something Good is a luxurious romance. It's filled with decadent layers of sweet, tempting characters, souls searching for healing, romance waiting to fill the pages, and topped off with a love that is EVERYTHING!!! I'm swooning just thinking about Ethan and Mia all over again.

This book is loaded with rich characters that I couldn't help falling in love with. Each so unique but blended together to craft a tale about looking for something that they didn't even know was missing. Mia completely loves her life in the big city as a PR guru. She's a fierce chick not to be messed with. I love her independent spirit, her wit, and her business sense. Not only was she beautiful, but I love that it was her smart mind that was delivered first. Ethan is a complex superman, with a heart of gold. He's just magic that lit up the pages. I can't even fully get into him! He's just beautiful; like a unicorn and a horse whisperer wrapped into one.

There is SO MUCH MORE to this story than what I can tell you, it really packs a punch to the heart, grabs a hold and doesn't let go until the very end. I loved every, single page. It's funny, smart, swoon worthy and it made me think about my own life in a different way. I really sank into this book, and drank every page up. It took me almost double the time to read because I couldn't let go. It's mesmerizing! It's definitely a must read in my books!!!

meh.

this was cute. it passed the time well enough, though to be honest i kept putting it down to read something else. this is my first book by this author, i own others so here's hoping i enjoy them more.

i just didn't 100% click with the writing or the story, i don't think. it was full of stereotypes and cliches. city vs country, hostile teens, lewd interfering senior citizens.. i don't know.

here's the thing, i love a good predictable romance, it's why i read them, but when there is nothing new or unique, it's blah.

Ethan was a little too jack of all trades master of everything for my liking. Mia and her obsession with food and body image rubbed me the wrong way, especially because it seems that she only really accepted herself/weight gain/eating carbs because Ethan told her to.

can we talk about her surname? Thrush? really? you can make up any name you want, and you choose... Thrush.

Also she didn't like Austen. BOO HISS.

Overall, I didn't hate it but I didn't love it. It had some cute bits but nothing stands out. Can't say I want to continue with the series but the epilogue did snag my attention so... we'll see.

I did enjoy this book but it wasn't one of my favourite Jennifer Probst book.

I love the writing style but the story just wasn't one that kept my interest so it took me a bit longer to read.

The Start of Something Good by Jennifer Probst is a very enjoyable and well written contemporary romance.
The writing is well done, the plot well paced and the drama just enough to keep you turning the pages.
I enjoyed watching Mia and Ethan come together, they made me smile and they made me swoon and they frustrated me a little but overall I loved them together and I was a very happy they got their happily ever after.

The Start of Something Good is a very good start to the Stay series, looking forward to the next book A Brand New Ending due to be released in October 2018.

*A big thank you to the publisher via Netgalley for the advance copy.*

Mia, a die hard city girl, ends up helping watch over a client’s teenage daughter, Chloe, who has to do community service at a horse farm. Ethan and Mia clash right from the very beginning. Their relationship progresses and the growth with all of the characters keeps the story entertaining all the way through. Can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this series!

Smart, likable characters and a well-written and thought out plot. Jennifer Probst has done it again with her new series. As usual, she also managed to evoke the emotions with this tale. Don't fret - it leaves you feeling warm and fuzzy and just...sigh. Can't wait for the next one!

Highly entertaining, sweetly sexy romantic journey filled with disagreements, laughter, honest feelings and a sweetly thrilling passionate chemistry that is undeniable....

Ethan Bishop is a sexy, charming and wounded body and soul. He is home looking to hideaway and hopefully heal from his last mission gone horribly wrong. Mia Thrush is a driven, sassy and determined PR agent on assignment and at the farm for business not pleasure.... Loved the sparks that fly, the banter and the crazy passion was a page turner from beginning to end.

I am going to come right out and say it - I love Jennifer Probst. So to say I was excited about her new series would be an understatement. I am even more excited to say I love The Start of Something Good book 1 in her new Stay series.

Mia Thrush is set in her ways - big time. In Public Relations she will do anything to get her guy elected mayor of New York City. Even traveling to the country to babysit his daughter while she works off her community service - on a horse farm no less. What Mia finds though is not what she thinks - that is including the tall, sexy Ethan Bishop.

Ethan is just trying to live his life in as much peace and quite his sister will allow. After coming back from war Ethan is not where he expected to be and when he is asked to supervise Chloe the daughter of the newest mayoral candidate he is reluctant. He is even more reluctant when that also means watching over her chaperone. Ethan knows that Mia is just trouble - but when feelings start to change for both Mia and Ethan, both of them release what they think is perfect may need to be modified.

What I love about Ms Probst books is the level of detail she comes into her stories with. As the reader you know what the environment looks like - all the way down to the smell of the air. She also does a fantastic job taking care of her characters and making you fall in love with them. Now I have to admit - it took me a while to warm up to Mia she is a hard as nails New Yorker but by 1/3rd of the way through I knew Mia was my kind of heroine. Ethan also has his issues and demons that haunt him - his complexity makes him such a great character. By the time you are done you will be rooting for these two for sure. We also get to meet some fantastic secondary characters - I cant wait until we deep dive into their stories as well.

All in all another fantastic read from this great author.

Phenomenal start to a new series. I loved the family dynamic between the Bishop siblings but also between Mia and Chloe. The almost enemies to lovers was super fun and allowed for a slower burn that was done so well as was the PTSD and survivors guilt issues.
Can’t wait for more!

THE START OF SOMETHING GOOD is the first instalment in Jennifer Probst’s contemporary, adult STAY romance series focusing on the Bishop siblings of Hudson Valley, New York. This is former Special Forces paratrooper Ethan Bishop, and Manhattan PR agent Mia Thrush’s story line.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Ethan and Mia) THE START OF SOMETHING GOOD follows the acrimonious relationship between former Special Forces paratrooper Ethan Bishop, and Manhattan PR agent Mia Thrush. Mia’s latest client is running for the mayor of New York City but his rebellious, nineteen-year old daughter Chloe found herself in some legal trouble that could have reflected badly upon her father’s political campaign. Assigned mandated community service meant Chloe had to be supervised at all times by someone willing to spend the entire summer on leave. With Mia the only ‘available’ adult willing to accept the responsibility, our heroine begins a three month community service of her own at the Bishop owned B&B, and horse boarding stables. Enter Ethan Bishop, former Special Forces paratrooper, and the man with whom Mia would fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Mia and Ethan, and the potential fall-out as Mia’s time with Chloe, and thusly Ethan, comes to an end.

Ethan Bishop doesn’t take too kindly to Mia Thrush-a woman he’s deemed high maintenance due to her expensive clothing and chosen profession. Too quick to judge Ethan will verbally attack our heroine at every opportunity but Mia isn’t willing to go down without a fight. Able to hold her own against a man whose own secrets are heart breaking and dark, Mia finds herself attracted to the man who had the ability to break her heart.

At the outset of the relationship Ethan’s attitude towards Mia is caustic and acerbic. He is quick to judge our heroine based on appearances and career, thusly verbally insulting Mia without forethought to insult or injury. Mia never expected to come face to face with the arrogance of Ethan Bishop but as a New Yorker, she is able to give as good as she gets. The back and forth banter and jibes hides a palpable sexual attraction. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Ethan’s spirited and dynamic sisters: Ophelia and Harper who own and operate the family B&B. Along the way, a group of animated, spirited and feisty seniors will add plenty of color and antics for all to enjoy.

THE START OF SOMETHING GOOD is a sexy, fun enemies to lovers romance. The premise is engaging and entertaining; the characters are energetic; the romance is seductive and sassy. THE START OF SOMETHING GOOD is the start of something good.
