Unpleasant characters and an unappealing storyline make this a rare pass from me. Sorry but I DNF.
I wish I could say I enjoyed this a bit more.
I Will Never Leave you is told in the POV's of Trish, James, and Laurel. The story is basically a love triangle with one of the woman who just had a baby. I had no sympathy for any of the characters nor did I care for them. I thought they all were annoying and crazy.
Unfortunately this book was not for me, it was a bit slower than I would like and it just didn't hold my attention. I am sure other people will love it!
I had to DNF this book at 20% in. It just wasn't for me. I did not connect with the characters, and the writing style was a bit juvenile for me. I know this was a debut, but I did not enjoy the story or the writing. Don't let my review sway you though if this is something you want to read.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and all opinions expressed are my own. I was interested to read this story but it really wasn't what I expected. The characters were unlikable and I didn't connect with them.
I don’t even know what to think! All the characters were a hot mess but with that said....it was pretty entertaining!
Ugh, this book. The entire story rubbed me the wrong way. The charaters are naive and dense. The actions of these characters infuriated me. I would not recommend and am quite disappointed I wasted my time reading it this week.
Jimmy Wainsborough is caught between a rock and a hard place. His mistress Laurel has just given birth to their daughter and is pressuring him to divorce his wife. The book opens with him introducing his wife Trish to his newborn child. Talk about rubbing salt in the wound. For years Jimmy and Trish have struggled with infertility issues trying everything short of surrogacy to have a child of their own. By all accounts he is a kept man; without Trish he'd be <i>"a flat-out broke loser sleeping on the sidewalk"</i>. He cannot divorce her without facing financial ruin. But Jimmy is a natural born charmer. He hopes his wily ways are enough so that he can have his cake and eat it too. The only thing that he forgot is that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned and Trish is relentless and Laurel is not as innocent as she may seem.
This book is painful to read from start to finish. The characters are unrelatable and unlikeable. The plot is unbelievable. The book is poorly written and the dialogue is just a joke. This was an incredible waste of my time.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review. This was so very good!
This book reminded me of a soap opera so if you miss those days then this will be good for you.
In the beginning of the book, the storyline is pretty good and enjoyable. In the second half, Trish falls off the deep end and needs psychological help. At this point, it was almost humorous. Someone give this lady some Prozac.
I think the book is a decent read though. It is told from three POVs through the main characters, Trish, James, and Laurel. It was a very easy read which I enjoyed. I try and do something not very deep at least once a month.
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
I was given a free ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
This book was full of truly dysfunctional characters. While it grabbed my attention to start, the story began to get a little far fetched. While entertaining, the story began to take on a very different direction and seemed overly dramatic.
This was a great book about love, marriage, relationships and a strong desire to have a baby.
This is a great story with dramatic characters who will do anything to get what they want.
I very much enjoyed this book.
Twisted tale of a marriage and a mistress. The chapters alternate between characters and their point of view. There’s a lot on intrigue and a decent story line to keep you reading.
The story deals with Trish and James’ inability to have a child and him turning to another women. From the synopsis, I really expected Trish and James to keep the baby for themselves somehow. I really didn’t like laurel’s character. James was essentially playing both women and using the way they feel about him to keep them close. The ending is very quick and I expected a little more from it. Overall I really enjoyed it for most of the book.
This book had some potential, but it just grew to be to crazy. Trisha Riggs is the daughter of a billionaire Jack Riggs and when her father is accused of bank fraud he’s forced to leave the country and retire from business. Trishs greatest want is to become a mother bus as much as she tries she just can’t seem to get pregnant. James her husband was apoor man when he met trish so of course she has him sign a prenup. Laurel is James lover who ends up pregnant. She believes James is a millionaire not realizing it’s his wife’s money. James has her believing that he’s going to get a divorce and they will have a family. What laurel doesn’t realize there’s a clause in the prenup and nothing is what it seems. This book just fell apart for me everyone was crazy !
When I read the summary of this novel, I was instantly interested. I like the concept: an infertile wife, fall in love with the baby of her husband's mistress. I was sure there will be plenty of shocking plots. Unfortunately, it is far from what I expected.
To be fair, the first part of the book is intriguing and entertaining. However, the plot is starting to decline in the second part of the book. Many events within the storyline are not believable and completely silly. Also, the dialogue among the characters feels odd and unnatural.
Perhaps, I'm not the right audience for this book?
** Thank you to Thomas & Mercer Publisher and #NetGalley for providing me this uncorrected proof, a digital ARC of #IWillNeverLeaveYou**
I enjoyed the themes within this book and the unlikely ‘heroes’ of this story. No one was exactly what you expected them to be and everyone had hidden depths that were exposed throughout the book. I enjoyed the writing style and the way it changed between character perspective. Overall a great read.
While the premise of this book was good, transferring it to the page just didn’t work. It came across totally unbelievable. There were so many inconsistencies and inaccuracies. Babies don’t giggle when they are newborn and hospital security (especially in maternity wards) is much tighter than this hospital. Not to mention if a newborn baby went missing from a hospital it WOULD be a BIG thing!!Over and over again characters reacted completely wrong in the given circumstances. Anyways might be a word in the dictionary, but it looks ridiculous on the page. It seemed like a parody of a psychological suspense novel.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved how each chapter was from a different character's perspective. I could understand whe re each character came from. # netgalley # Iwillneverleaveyou
I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU by S.M.Thayer is a great suspense novel. I had never read any of Thayer's novels before but I will be on the hunt to read more from this great author.
