I wanted to like this book because it seemed similar to all of the other books that I have been reading lately however this one unfortunately fell a little flat for my liking. Every time it had the chance to make a huge impact it was just a little short. Even the beginning it left me a little uninterested in the characters which made the story itself hard to get into. This book of pain and loss and all about the main characters in their on and off romance. I think that I might not have been the target audience for this book, but even as a YA book this one was lacking a strong presence and I found it to be easily forgettable. It was almost as if the two main characters lacked any sort of real spark that I am used to seeing, and then it wasn’t until the very end and it was almost like they caught on fire. I did like however the way that the book was written so I will have to check out one or two more of Angela Parker’s work in order to get a real sense of her writing. I am really glad I got the chance to check this one out even if it wasn’t for me.
2.5 stars
The blurb is what pulled me in but overall, the story failed to keep me invested. I’ve read YA and loved it. I’ve read Insta-Love and loved it. The genre and trope were not the issue for me. I felt these characters were too young to go from Hi-I Love You-We have to spend forever together. They’ve both been through some heavy experiences, yet they barely even have conversations about them. A lot of “off page” conversations, etc. made it very hard for me to believe in their connection. Even with their friends, the conversations, nicknames, etc. seemed juvenile and unbelievable.
I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.
This has been on my TBR pile for so long, and I'm glad I finally got around to it. I really enjoyed the storyline and seeing the characters change throughout the story was a great character development. The plot was great and kept my attention. I'm glad I got the chance to read this and will be on the lookout for more in the future!
a cute story of love after tragic loss/painful pasts. Elona and Michael are able to work through their issues and love again.
Not my typical genre, but a lovely story none-the-less.
Thanks to Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
This was an enjoyable read. I have been wanting to read this book for so long, but never got around to it until now. I thought that the story was great and it was really cute. I really enjoyed the characters. I thought that they were relatable and authentic. I thought the romance was sweet. The chemistry between Michael and Elona was great. The ending was the best part for me. I can’t wait to read more Angela K. Parker. Overall, a great read.
I didn’t realize when Ali requested this book that it was going to be archived the next day. Sadly, I didn’t get a chance to download it or read it. I was able to read an excerpt and it sounded really good!
Maybe I’ll be able to check it out from the library one day.
