4.25/5. Read this back in 2018 and did not review it back then. I don't remember enough about it to give it proper feedback.

I Have Lost My Way by Gayle Forman is an emotional, character-driven story about three strangers who cross paths at their lowest points. Freya, Harun, and Nathaniel each carry their own burdens, but together they find unexpected connection and hope. Poignant and beautifully written, it’s perfect for fans of heartfelt contemporary YA.

Gayle Forman really is good at absolutely obliterating hearts, rebuilding them, and them breaking them again. I come out of all her books with this painful pit in my stomach. Another solid 5/5 book from Forman that has characters with a ton of depth and a very intriguing plot!

I did not review this book on my blog as I stopped blogging due to time constraints. I enjoyed the book.

This book was AMAZING!
Forman has a way of showing the nitty, gritty side of humanity and makes you feel better for being flawed.

This was the first Gayle Forman book I read and I really enjoyed it! She writes her characters with depth and understanding that makes them feel very real and I was able to relate to them. I really liked that the book took place in Manhattan, making me feel close to the characters.

Disclaimer: This is a review of the I Have Lost My Way sneak peek I received from the publisher. Thank you to Penguin Young Readers Group for the sneak peek.

Song: Dyin' to Live by Smallpools

I Have Lost My Way tells the story of 3 strangers who all realize that they have lost their way (in more ways than one). Despite their vastly different upbringings and backgrounds, Freya, Harun, and Nathaniel are all feeling the height of their losses at the time of their unfortunate meeting.

Gayle Forman masterfully weaves together the lives of these three strangers intertwining their lives in a way that allows the reader to try and . Even from the short sneak peek I read, Forman did a great job of creating emotionally deep and complex characters. I love how Forman presents her characters. It was just like getting to know somebody. You meet somebody then slowly dive deeper into how they came to be the person they are. At first I was confused by the switching narratives but came to love it. By switching narratives, Forman was able to give an equal voice to each of her characters. This allowed me to get a better understanding of each character.

The song I chose for this book is Dyin' to Live by Smallpools. This song feels like something all three characters would resonate with. Dyin' to Live is a song about somebody who is feeling lost "trying just to feel alright," very similar to Freya, Harum, and Nathaniel.

Forman set up a beautiful story with characters I fell in love with even in the short sneak peek. I cannot wait to get my hands on the rest of the book.

This is a story about 3 characters, each of which have lost their way. All 3 are strangers until one day, when they needed it most, their worlds collide, and together they try and figure out how to find their way again. I really enjoined the distinct voices of each of the characters and their unique story lines., though at times the story lines weren't always super clear. Since we were learning about the backgrounds of theses characters slowly, as the other characters did, it was hard to piece together the whole picture which made the story a bit confusing at times. I liked how different issues were explored through the different characters like homophobia and different cultural backgrounds. I did wish however that the ending had more of a wrap up, and felt like the book could have benefited from an epilogue so we could see where each of the characters ended up. Overall though, it was a good read and I look forward to anything else Gayle outs out going forward.

I thought I would like this given how much I enjoyed her previous work but this one did not gel with me. I could not really connect with the characters or the story. The writing was a bit too generic for me and not as interesting or as special as her previous work.

I enjoyed this sample and because of that experience, I have just picked up the full version of the book, and my book club will be reading it as our next book. I'm looking forward to finishing the rest of the story and reviewing this title over the weekend. I'm confident Gayle Forman will not disappoint.

I Have Lost My Way is a remarkable story about three very different people living very different lives. Teens all going through their own problems and how that brings them together as unlikely friends. Gayle Forman is phenomenal at writing the meaningful, deep, and powerful stories for young adults. I have loved everything of hers I have read. She has a way of making you care about her characters and  feel close to them. I Have Lost My Way is no different.
You feel for Freya, Harun, and Nathaniel as they struggle lost on their current paths alone. As they collide (literally) you get to see the power friendship can hold and find their way back together. It's a beautiful and incredible story that you don't have to be a teen to appreciate. Gayle Forman has created another great read.

Let me just say that Gayle Forman is an author that I will read regardless. Her writing style is so heartbreaking and real. She has a way of writing very different yet strong characters.

I was not loving this book at first but it really took hold of my heart. This story is about three young people who have lost their way. It is a beautiful coming of age story that shows three very different teens who have been dealt a life struggle and how they learn about themselves and others because of it. Life is like that, messy and uncertain and filled with doubts and decisions. One day they find themselves crossing paths and everything changes. It is a day when three strangers become friends. A day when instead of focusing on their own issues they seek to help each other out. It seems that in helping one another, they find their way in life.
Some may say that there is insta-love in this and while that may seem to be the case I think it is so much more than that. It is a day when three lost souls find love for others and for themselves and so yes, it is insta-love, but it is a love that they have been seeking for years.

There is so much to unpack and discover in this and it hits on some real pertinent topics facing many young people today. It is sad but hopeful too.

I am a fan of this author, I was not a fan of this book. It was an easy read however it was just a bunch of teenagers that didn't really seem like teenagers. The good thing was that it was an easy read.

This book was good and it was interesting to read the perspective of multiple diverse characters. The timeline was very quick as the story was all told in a day which lent an immediacy to the book.

I read this book after it came out and I honestly did not think was going to enjoy it as much as I did! I've read Id I Stay and none of her other books have been on par with that masterpiece but I have to say that this is a close second!! the characters were a hoot and the occasional stuff that I found funny was just my type of humour!
