So excited to pick this up and read the rest when it is released!
Can’t read the rest of this book. ................................
MORE MORE MORE!!! I NEED MORE!!!!!
This preview was great. The three main characters are all beautifully crafted. I am dying to see how their stories continue to intertwine. I started to type "Harun was my favorite" but then I realized that I am not capable of choosing a favorite. This preview gave the readers characters with complicated back stories, and I loved the weird way in which they met. These people have all had a lot of very unique, very challenging experiences in their young lives. They are intriguing and I want to know more about them.
The title is absolutely perfect. I Have Lost My Way. Such a perfect way to summarize how the characters all ended up in the same place at the same time.
I have always been a sucker for stories with rotating narrators, so this book is perfect for me.
I want to know more about Freya's sister, and Nathaniel's dad and James. I really liked that Gayle Foreman is able to leave you curious about characters outside of the main three.
There is definitely a lot of emotions and baggage that each of the three main characters carry. Freya, Harun, and Nathaniel are, so far, very likable and relatable. In Harun's viewpoint, I did find myself confused with who was who. It felt like a whirlwind of new characters. However, I did love the setup of how he first realized that he was different, and that instead of liking girls, he likes boys. I do think that Freya's perspective could have focused more on her relationship with her father and less about how she became famous. So far, my favorite perspecitves are Harun and Nathaniel. Generally, I like the concept of the story and the characters. If given the chance, I would read the entire book.
This was my first Gayle Forman novel and I actually liked it, for the most part. The only thing I had an issue with was Freya's story; I feel like it wasn't as fleshed out as the other two main characters, and there were a lot of things left open-ended regarding her. Her backstory was fine, but it's more so the present-day timeline where there's a distinct lack of interaction with her mother and sister, and nothing from her father who just fell off the face of the Earth (but I get it, because he moved back to his home country and had another family. I'm still disappointed, though). I would have loved it even more if there had been an actual confrontation with Freya's music producer because it was being hyped up and how it ended was just.... so anticlimactic.
I really enjoyed Harun's and Nathaniel's respective stories, though. I could really feel his struggle with his sexuality and what it would mean for his family and his religion. And Nathaniel, I loved his story because he had to relearn how to live and let go after a parent dies, and the ending had me holding my breath because I didn't want to happen what could have happened.
It's a quick read, if you're looking for one, and it's pretty short too, which is probably another thing that counted against this for me. But I'm definitely interested in reading this author's other works, so at least there's that.
Omg this is so good, I need the rest of the book!! It was fantastic what I've read so far!Fast paced and captivating!
I want more instead of this little "sneak peek"!! This is my fourth book by Gayle Forman and I love ALL of her books. Intrigued for more!! This looks really good!!
I ended up receiving a full ARC of this book from First Reads and I have to say I absolutely loved it. It is such a beautiful, sad, sweet read that takes place over the course of one day and sets three lost teens back on the right path. It's not easy or neat, but that's okay, it's a stronger book for being messy and complex.
I want the whole thing!!! This has been an interesting author to read from in the past. She is definitely an outside the box thinker, and a cathartic writer. The synopsis of this book is definitely intriguing where three strangers become intertwined in a destiny of sorts. I have lost my way starts out with brief synopsis of the three characters, Freya, Harun, and Nathaniel. All three seem to be embarking on an identity crisis, and fate brings them together with a bang. Three totally different people brought together at a distinct moment in there life which is very similar. I’m eager to see where this book is going and how it’s going to play out for all the characters. The attraction between Freya and Nathaniel, Nathaniel seems to be struggling with something that has happened with his Dad, and Harun’s struggle with James. Very excited to see this book come out, thanks for allowing me the read.
