What a sweet story that includes a family ring, a controlling ex and a couple of Irish grandmothers. Wedding at the Graff by Jeannie Watt is the perfect story for any time of year. Really, no matter the time of year, these Irish grandmothers make it perfect for anyone who claims to be even a little bit Irish. We could all use these magical fairy godmothers, I mean grandmothers in our lives. They just seemed to be magical, or as some might say meddlesome.
Collie and Michael are two likable characters who may have lost their way from each other. While both have seemingly benefited from knowing and in Michael’s case working for a wealthy family, it has come with some harsh realities. It is true that this Marietta story does not start in Montana, nor is there a clear indication if this couple will stay in Montana, but the Graff plays a major role in their story. I thoroughly enjoyed Wedding at the Graff, especially since I love seeing the good win, while the arrogant and proud lose! My favorite of the Holiday Graff stories. This one is hard to beat.
I always enjoy revisiting Marietta and its characters.

I look forward to reading the other books in this series.
I had such an enjoyable time back in Marietta, Montana at the famous Graff Hotel once again. Wedding At The Graff brings us the story of Collie, Michael and in many ways their grandmothers as well. At one time Michael and Collie were friends, there was a spark there that neither was quite willing to pursue during their collage days. Why ruin a perfect friendship with complications was the thought at the time, although that didn’t work out well for them in reality. Collie became engaged to Michael’s then friend, now boss, Garrett… a quite nasty piece of work. It eventually became obvious to Collie that the two would never work so she broke off the engagement but kept the engagement ring which had originally belonged in her family. And that ring becomes almost as much of a character in this story as the others.
They cross paths once again when Michael’s boss sends him to deal with Collie and get that ring back, at any cost. Garrett isn’t afraid to use his family name’s power to bring Collie up on charges if she won’t give the ring to Michael. Collie’s grandmother believes that Garrett’s family stole that ring since it was collateral for a loan – and circumstances kept the ring away from the family who truly owned it. It gets complicated in many ways. Michael is realizing that those feelings he put aside for Collie long ago are alive and kicking again. He’s in a hard place. He is trying to warn Collie of what Garrett is willing to do to get the ring back while acknowledging that he does owe Garrett’s family as well. Sorting out this mess created by people long gone will bring Michael and Collie back together… eventually.
Wedding At The Graff will reunite us with several old friends from this series. I always love to catch up a bit. I do admit that I keep hoping for Shane’s story, and maybe one day she will shine in the spotlight as well. I loved this story, it’s complicated yet so very basic. I believe any reader of Contemporary Romance will enjoy Collie and Michaels story, and I’d definitely recommend their story and the entire series.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
Second book from this series which I have read, so it was nice that it featured some of the characters from the other books too.
This was an enjoyable quick read, told from the perspective of Collie and Michael, old college friends who haven't really seen each other much since she broke off her engagement with his boss.
I felt that the end of the book was a bit rushed, with everything happening at once.
Old friends, Collie Flanigan and Michael Donovan, are reunited when Michael is sent to Marietta, Montana by his boss, Garrett Hawley, to retrieve an emerald ring from Collie. The ring originally belonged in Collie’s family, but was lost during the Great Depression when her great-grandfather needed a loan. The loan was paid off, but the ring never returned. When Collie got it back, in the form of an engagement gift from Garrett, she wasn’t about to let it go again even though they didn’t marry.
After Collie and Garrett’s breakup, Collie moved from Chicago to Marietta to start a new life. She works as a maid at The Graff Hotel while trying to start her own cleaning business. When Michael arrives in town, Collie doesn’t trust him. But it doesn’t take long for them to rekindle their friendship and then become a couple. Garrett’s threats tried to come between them, but Collie and Michael were stronger than Garrett in the end.
This was a wonderful friends to lovers story. I liked the back story about the ring and how much it meant to Collie’s family and how she would do anything to get it back to her grandmother where it belonged. I was surprised that Collie and Michael were so close at one time in their life, yet never hooked up. But that fact made their union even stronger. The grandmother’s added a fun element to the story. Overall, this was a book that I really enjoyed and would recommend it
Captivating characters in a beautiful, sweet and tender “friends-to-lovers” story, told with the sensitivity and talent we usually expect from author Jeannie Watt.
This series is new to me and I admit, although I liked Michael, I didn’t warm up to Collie immediately, but then it all came together and all the side characters – even the “evil” ones like the non-stereotyped Garrett – felt like real people. The two grandmothers were also a delight to read.
I also enjoyed the setting, in the lively town of Marietta, Montana, and its emblematic hotel, The Graff.
Once again Marietta, Montana takes center stage...as I have come to expect from the stories involving this town, the characters are rich in personalities...the chemistry between Collie and Michael is perfectly depicted to keep their story moving and interesting. That they had a history where the chemistry between them was already established added additional drama and romance to their already captivating story.
Having characters from the previous stories in this series take a role in Collie and Michael's story keeps their own story alive, reminding the reader of the progression of the series and how it has evolved. Of course Bob is a mainstay of the Graff, it is a delight to him to take his well established role at the hotel and be part of the story.
This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
Wedding at the Graff by Jeannie Watt, book five in the Holiday at the Graff series. A great addition to the series. Always enjoyable reading a story setting at the Graff Hotel in Marietta. A possible second chance at romance storyline. Look forward to reading future books in the series and more books by this author.
