I enjoyed this one. I did like Ryan and Katie. There were some parts that me laughing. Katie is trying to do what is expected of her instead of following her heart. She has it tough with her new job, but she may just gain some insight for her path in life. The only thing I wish this book had was Ryan's point of view. I did miss that while reading this one. One of my favorite scenes is the one with Ryan and his niece. It's total swoon worthy material.

This book has cursing (including a dozen or so f-bombs) but no on-page sex. If cursing will cause you to leave a bad review, please use your own judgment before reading this book.

New adult isn't my preferred genre, but I really liked the story that this book told. Ryan and Katie were both really likable characters and I found myself rooting for them from the start. Katie was a bit of a hot mess and a doormat at times, but seeing her figuring it out and picking herself up off of the mat was really rewarding. Ryan was such a great character. I loved the depth that he had and the way that he cared for everyone around him. The only “complaint” I have about this book is that I wish it had been dual point of view so that we got to see more of Ryan outside of the gym. But that really is just a minor thing. The side characters were also really well-written. Both of their friends were great, and her boss made me want to hiss bad words at my Kindle as I read - which is the sign of a well-written jerk.

Ms. Wise has a real talent for writing a story that is both funny and realistic, and I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

I requested and was granted a copy of this book via NetGalley - I wrote this review because I liked the book and for no other reason.

Such a wonderful story. One of those slow burn kind of stories that keeps the reader intrigued. Can't wait to read another story by this author.

If I had to sum up this novel in one word, I'd go with: ordinary.
This is by no means a bad story. It just isn't a gripping, on-the-edge-of-your-seat one, either.
In Maybe Someone Like You, we follow freshly-dumped, newly-graduated lawyer Katie who, in the spur of the moment, decides to try out kickboxing - and veeeerrry slowly falls in love with her instructor Ryan.
The story is well paced; Katie looks for a job, finds one, has a crush on Ryan, has a very predictable date with someone else that ends in Ryan (who of course is right around the corner) 'saving her', and so on and so forth. I'd describe it as a slow-burn romance if it wasn't for the fact that I couldn't really connect to either Ryan or Katie, much less feel myself wanting them to be together. There was absolutely no tension, no will-they-or-won't they that kept me turning the pages, because I knew they were going to be together. I missed the anticipation, the chemistry between the two. And as much as we learned about Ryan and Katie, it all felt very calculated to drive them towards each other.
What I did like about this book was the depiction of Katie's job at a law firm (and her coworker Craig). It was refreshing to see her deal with a moronic boss, and decide whether the pay and job security is actually worth 'selling your soul for'.
If you're looking for a slow-burn romance (emphasis on the slow) and a quick read, this might be for you.

Maybe Someone Like You is a sweet story about coming into ones self. Insecurities plague Katie's mind after he boyfriend went from Prince potential to total toad. Always trying to please Mom isn't exactly a confidence booster either. Losing her first Job before it starts...Yeah, Katie is wallowing in self pity. Until she meets him.

Ryan is the total opposite of anything Katie has ever found attractive. He's a big tattooed guy. He looks rough around the edges and like her could crush her. But it seerms the only thing getting crushed is her heart...

Miscommunication. Or lack of communication seems to be the comedy of errors that sets Katie up for more than a gym membership. It sets her up to fall. And fall she did.

This sweet story was a cute read. Not to spoil anyone's fun but gets more intense in feels than I thought it would. Katie's insecurities can take a toll on the reader and make you feel her self deprecating thoughts. But just wait, you will feel better! I promise. Katie gets her act together and well...It is a beautiful thing.

This is the first time in reading this author. The cover is cute and the characters capture your attention. Katie and Ryan are the center of this one. This author is also taking a leap with this one and doing like back in the day with this being heavy on the romance with not alot of fire. That made this a bit refreshing since I am a long time reader and remember what is out now was not out there when I was younger. The characters have enough on their own to catch you and keep you cpativated with their story. It has many elements that make it full and delightful to read. They both have interesting jobs that added to them. Being different certainly is in this authors favor for die hard romance fans will eat this one up.

I want to preface this with if you're looking for hot, crazy sex, you're not gonna get it. And if that's all you're looking for, that's unfortunate because you'll miss out on a really great book. I've got two words for you...SLOW BURN. They are my favorite when it comes to books. The tension between Ryan and Katie is unbearable. Even though this whole book is completely in Katie's POV, you can just tell by the fantastic writing that Ryan burns for her. This book was really a breath of fresh air for me. It felt real and genuine. Like I stepped into someone's life at a pivotal moment and had the great fortune of getting to watch it all play out. Katie's thoughts made sense and they could have been my thoughts or my friend's. The range of emotions she goes through trying to read if Ryan is into her was all too familiar because we've all been there at some point. I loved the chemistry between Katie and Ryan and the fact that they really spent time getting to know each other without the complication of sex between them. I wasn't sure what I was expecting when I decided to give this book a go, but it was better than I could have imagined. I'm definitely looking forward to more from this author.

Maybe Someone Like You

4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you are looking for a slow burn this is the book you are looking for. This was the first book I have read by Stacy Wise and it was differently a good one. She does an amazing job building the sexual tension between Katie and Ryan. And just when you think they might be getting somewhere she will change it up and have you wondering if/when they will get together. I also love how Katie finds herself during the book, she doesn’t give up and when she is challenged she uses it to her advantage and ends up finding what she was really working towards. Definitely a book that needs to be on your TBR list.

I adored this story and it called to me in an unexpected way. Katie decides to start kickboxing with a trainer, and I fell completely in love with it. The author makes it sound both elegant and fierce. I liked the idea so much that I researched local kickboxing gyms--I start next week! I hope it's as exhilarating as Stacy Wise made it sound.

I'm curious if the author has personal experience with kickboxing, or if they just did really amazing research. I could hear the ropes pounding on the floor, and Katie's gloves hitting their target. I devoured those parts of the story, and now I'm mentally addicted to the idea of doing it myself. Let's hope I enjoy it as much in practice as I do in theory.

Maybe Someone Like You is another one of those stories where a little more communication would have saved everyone a lot of heartache, but I enjoyed their journey. It was refreshing to read about things like lawyering and kickboxing, because I've had no experience with either. There were a few phrases and some terminology I was unfamiliar with, so I had to stop and do a little research. Maybe a little more clarification within the story would have helped? Having to stop and look things up did pull me away from the book.

The setting for the book was ideal, too. It was lovely and makes me want to live in a quiet, quaint town near the beach. Even though I abhor having sand on everything, Stacy Wise made me fall in love with the idea. Running along the beach with my dog, the views at night, and the smells that are associated with sand and the ocean.

Katie is far more patient that I would have been. Kenneth was such an ass. I wanted to spit in his face and knee him in the balls. He deserves worse than that, but those two things would make me feel a little better. She put up with way more than she should have, and she should have confided in someone other than Craig. Speaking of Craig, I really liked him by the end of the book, but his initial impression was wrong. I thought he was going to be an adversary, but it's like a monster apologizing and becoming a kitten. It didn't make a lot of sense how their friendship happened, especially with how their first conversation went.

The other characters within the book were nice. I felt like I knew them on the most basic level, and I wish there had been a little more depth to them. For the most part, they sounded like interesting characters, and I wish those friendships had been built upon a little more. Instead, the book mainly focuses on the boys and her job.

The character development was a little weird, and I was never too sure of someone's importance to the story. Like, they may have seemed super involved in the beginning, but then we just stop hearing about them. Others, like her mom, were prickly one minute and kind the next. I don't know how to explain it exactly, but it felt off. However, Ryan was like banana pancakes in the morning: unexpected but utterly delicious.

Maybe Someone Like You was delightful and made me smile often. It also inspired me to try kickboxing (should be an awesome and enjoyable workout), and maybe get a new tattoo...

Maybe Someone Like You by Stacy Wise a new to me author that I look forward to reading more books by. I enjoyed this new adult storyline. It had likable characters, great character development and dialogue. If you like to read New Adult stories and a story that pulls you in from the first page this book is for you.

When Katie Capwell decided to sign up kickboxing lessons, she never imagined her life would change for the better, especially since she and Ryan Brincatt are from totally different worlds. However, the more he teaches her, the more she finds herself falling for him. Will Katie and Ryan achieve their happy ever after or will the fact that they're too different keep them apart?

The first thing I noticed about this book was the cover. It looks like this story will be lots of fun and I've got to say that Ms. Wise delivers plenty of that in this book. The way this story started drew me in immediately, but it was from the moment the hero and heroine meet that had me fully invested in this story, as it's palpable they're from two totally different worlds in where she's just completed her law degree and he's a tattooed martial artist that didn't have the easiest of times in school.

As for the dialogue, it was entertaining due to the main characters back stories, the journey these two take on their way to happy ever after; and the blossoming relationship that had me hoping they'd finally realize they want each other, even though there's a good reason why the hero doesn't acted on his feelings. Moreover, the heroine is resilient, courageous and I liked the decisions she makes throughout this story to do with her career because she finally realizes what type of law she wants to pursue. I also liked the tight bond she has with her friends and that her best friend was looking out for her when it came to relationships. Is meeting Ryan fate, especially with his connection to her friends? While the hero, he's confident, hard-working and I liked how far he's come in his life. I also liked how encouraging he was when it came to instructing Katie, although she's fearless and determined to prove she has what it takes to learn the moves to the best of her ability. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero is the tight bond he shares with his niece. Really, they're so cute together.

Overall, Ms. Wise has delivered a really good read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was strong; the romance cute; and the ending had me loving how these two find their way back to each other after such a rollercoaster of will-they-or-won't-they become a couple. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely because these two are so good together. I would recommend Maybe Someone Like You by Stacy Wise, if you enjoy the mysterious strangers trope, the friends to lovers trope, or books by authors Beth Anne Miller, Robin Bielman, RS Grey and Erin Fletcher.

Rating 4.5/5*

This is a delightful, slow burn, romance with the heroine, Katie Capwell, as the main character throughout. In the first few pages we learn  that Katie had recently finished law school and is awaiting her bar results when the job she'd accepted falls through and her boyfriend splits with her "because it is summer", just three days after tell her he loves her! This is definitely a time of change for this young lady and you'll have to read it yourself to discover what happens when she goes with a friend to see if she'd like to learn yoga and accidentally meets Ryan Brincatt, a martial arts teacher who inspires her to have a go at that instead!

This is a story of deciding whether to follow your own dreams or those that others have for you. It is about taking chances, living life and doing what is right for you. Ryan is a brilliant character with his own issues but also very caring, protective and supportive. I think it is so lovely to read a romance where people aren't jumping into sexual relationships here, there and everywhere - so if that's what you prefer, don't bother with this one!

This is a story where the heroine is learning about herself, having the experience of her first job in her new career, exploring options and considering her future as well as finding romance. Settling into a new job, the reactions of her colleagues and how she is treated are all explored. There are misunderstandings and some moving, poignant memories revealed as the story progresses. I found it a lovely story to escape into and recommend it to anyone who enjoys 'clean' romances with a getting stronger female lead.

I requested and was lucky enough to be given a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

Loved this one! Low on angst, high on swoon, and it was the perfect fun relaxing read. Katie and Ryan are as different as can be yet they worked perfectly together. He brought her out of her serious comfort zone and taught her how to have a little fun and enjoy life. Their relationship was a nice slow, easy build that just makes your heart swoon. I definitely recommend this one.

in maybe someone like you, katie isn't sure why she's so drawn to the kickboxing gym. or the guy with tattoos all over his arms who offers to show her around and be her trainer. ryan brincatt is too hot, too rough-around-the-edges, too much of a bad boy to be interested in a straight-laced good girl like katie.

but even as katie doubts his interest in her, her interest in him is undeniable. at first she works hard to prove herself as he trains her. but then they spend time together outside of the gym. and she enjoys his company. so when he pushes her away she's hurt and doesn't understand it. the problem is that katie has abandonment issues and deep-seated insecurities as a circumstance of being the daughter of two eminently successful parents. it's not that she doesn't measure up, she really does. but she's so hard on herself and forgets to give herself enough credit in all things.

this story is as much about katie's emotional growth and becoming a grown up as it is ryan and katie's love story. she is such a great character and even when you know she is selling herself short, you can't help but root for her happy ending.

This is my first book by Stacy Wise and I have to say I enjoyed it. Even though it's not my usual read, being that it's pure romance and completely free of sex.
But Maybe Someone Like You really drew me in. As it had a nice slow burn element to it, and was extremely sweet, charming and very easy to read. Not to mention the characters were likable, especially Ryan.
Plus, the story flowed well and kept me engaged throughout. And I'd happily recommend it to others. I'd also look out for more books from this author in the future.

Katie is feeling low after a potential job falls through and her boyfriend dumps her. On her way to a yoga class one day, Katie is drawn to the kickboxing gym next door. When she meets Ryan she is intrigued and signs up a few training sessions with him. An up coming attorney and a martial arts tattooed trainer, what could they have in common ?
Maybe someone like you is a slow but steady paced read. It had some really cute and fun moments and some frustrating ones as well. Katie came across as real and Ryan a totally swoon worthy. It’s a perfect YA read.

This. Is. A. Very. "Slow". Read. Don't look for sex scenes. Ain't gonna happen. Don't look for high tension/anticipation either. I honestly almost DNF'd this because at the half way mark, I felt as though nothing had happened yet. Even after reading the book, I still feel that way. But at least I finished it, right?

Katie is the daughter of a well known attorney and photographer. It was as though the stars where already aligned, telling her that she was to become an attorney as well. Making a difference in the world and all that. After being not only dumped by her boyfriend, but also losing a job opportunity along with that lose, she's looking for another job. But it's as though she's looking for something else as well. What? That's the big question. While going to a Yoga class with her roommate, Katie notices the kickboxing gym next door and decides to check it out. She meets Ryan and soon becomes his client.

Over the course of many months, Katie starts a new job. Has a boss from hell. Meets a co-worker that ends up becoming a good friend. Her roommate become absent with her own relationship. Her best friend gets engaged. Katie goes on two different dates with complete asses. All the while getting to know her trainer, falling for him, hating him and then becoming confused (again) about "what's wrong with her".

To be honest, this story was really all over the place. There were too many stories going on at once, which only lends to Katie not really knowing what she wants. She's says she's not ready for another relationship, but puts herself out there TWICE. And the guy she really wants is right in front of her throughout all of this.

All this being said....I had to finish this book. I knew it was going to be a happily ever after, but with so many stories going on, I needed to find out "how" it got there. Trust me. I felt as conflicted as Katie while reading this. LOL

I adored this story. It’s very slow-burning, I can’t stress that enough, but I really enjoyed the journey.

I’m so in love with Ryan. He is just an all around good guy with no baggage or hidden trauma who seemed perfectly content with getting to know Katie before diving into a relationship with her. He was so sweet with Sydney and he was all about his family and his love for the gym and training.

I can see why some people might be put off by the slow pace of the story and the budding possible romance between Katie and Ryan but I think that the way that it played out was perfect. At first I felt unsatisfied with the way the story finished, I felt like I was maybe missing out on to greatest parts of Katie and Ryan’s relationship, but after having time to sit and relive their story, I am content with it.

This is my first time reading this author but I look forward to reading more from her.

Maybe Someone Like You was a much slower read than I'd anticipated--I suppose I read "tattooed martial artist" and expected more of a hot bad boy read. But even though this book may not be as thrilling as you'd hope for (meaning, don't look for the sex scenes), it's still pretty sweet and will sweep romance lovers right off their feet.
