This story was a second chance that we saw coming in prior books. Marek broke up a wedding of a former girlfriend when he gets an email telling him that he has a daughter. Marek flips out and at least a quarter of the book is him trying to come to terms with a child in his life. It's hard to "love" him as a reader during this time. Especially since he was the one to break up with Gracen originally to avoid responsibility but not knowing she was already pregnant when he left.
Sawyer pulls Marek through self discovery. Marek examines his feelings and grows as a father and lover.
Can't ask for more. Good series.
