A fanciful retelling of Romeo and Juliet in Manga format. Emotive artwork and much of the dialogue is in true Shakespeare form. A nice addition to the Manga Classics series. Keep up the good work! For classics and adaptation fans.

I never really loved Romeo & Juliet's story but anyone who likes it and is a fan of manga should give this one a try. It was a lovely adaptation.
Can't wait for more Manga Classics stories.
I was auto-approved by the publisher Udon Entertainment through NetGalley to review this title.
Not my favourite Shakespeare play, but one I read a few times within the last decade, I find it to be somewhat overly dramatic and not very romantic. Regardless, I appreciated the effort that was put into creating a comic out of this play.
The artwork combined various elements that helped to emphasize the characters personalities. It was harsh and beautiful; at times too busy, other times perfectly fitting the character, with a few frames that were exaggerated in their presentation of sceneries and scenes.
Overall, a nice addition to the Manga Classics series and worth a read.
This is a brilliant adaptation of William Shakespeare's work of genius. The artwork is gorgeous and fits seamlessly in with Shakespeare's original text to form a breathtaking view of Romeo and Juliet. This has always been a favorite classic of mine and I adore the adaptations I have come across like the movie that stars Claire Danes and Leonardo DiCarprio. This manga enthralled me and fully captivated the essence of the original work. I highly recommend this version to anyone studying this literature in school for a better understanding or to anyone interested in Shakespeare.
This story is about two star crossed lovers. There is a long running feud between the wealthy families Montague and Capulet. What happens when the two young adult heirs of each family happen across each other and fall in love? They know their relationship could be doomed but what if their union could smooth over their families' hatred? This story is full of action, drama, romance and is never boring.
Thank you to NetGalley and Udon Publishing for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I really like the adaptations done by Manga Classics. The beautiful illustrations and characters made a lovely scene and add a lot of od depth to the often too wordy classics. This edition makes me remember why I don't like Shakespear; he drags everything out with scenes that I could sum up in simple sentences. But the drawing makes the death of the characters even sadder.
As always I love the manga classics, Tne art is beautiful and not one line of the bards prose in kissed in this telling of Romeo and Juliet! I love the manga classics!
As always the artwork is beautiful as is the story. You keep producing these manga classics and I will keep reading them.
Udon adds the best known love story of all times to their Manga Classics collection and the result is both enjoyable and respectful of the original text as always. Since Romeo and Juliet is probably overexposed in terms of renditions, I would have probably appreciated a little more courage in using either a modern setting or a more daring art, but the final result is nonetheless pleasant and I recommend this comic for Readers of all ages, especially students in high school.
Many thanks go to Udon and Netgalley for the free copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review.
This is their first Shakespeare play in this format. For teachers lesson plans are available on their website. As pointed out there are excellent examples of metaphors through drawings that can be discussed in class. Shakespeare was always difficult for me to grasp as a middle schooler. This is an exemplary way to teach to kids, especially those who need a visual to make words click.
The illustrations were simply beautiful; well actually there isn’t anything simple about them this time around. Such detail as I have yet seen in any of the Manga Classics . Each characterization was spot on. Tybalt may have been my favorite.
The tragedy of this play is still there even if the presentation is different. The impact is fresh from beginning to end. In fact, I found it easier to understand. I hope there will be more Shakespeare in the future.

Note: the designers' treatment of Juliet's nurse is hilarious! It's perfect! Such a busybody that gets on everyone's nerves
Not the best between the Manga Classic Adaptation by Udon, but still e very enjoyable manga to read. The story is well known and the characters are well depicted.
Non la migliore tra gli adattamenti dei classici ai Manga della Udon, ma resta comunque una piacevole lettura. La storia é ovviamente ben nota e le rappresentazioni dei personaggi mi sono piaciute molto.
THANKS NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!
I think my favorite thing about this is that it makes the classics more interesting. Personally I love classic books myself, but I know many people that find them to be boring or difficult to read. I feel like turning them into manga/graphic novels makes them more easily read to those who can’t really connect with classics. I will definitely recommend this to my friends.
