Exquisito.

Wonderful art and well lettered. Enjoyable to look at if you are not intrested in Shakespeare. Manga and art loves will enjoy this book as well as people who love Shakespeare often risque wit.

The art was beautiful and the story flowed and followed the original story pretty well. The language has been modernized to make it easier for young readers to understand. A great series of classic books to introduce young readers to classic stories and might spark an interest in reading the real deal when they are older.

I love when they make monga comics from a classic in Romeo and Juliet totally checks that box I find it always gives it a fresh new feel and you can really tell a good animator by the facial expressions and the details in the photo in the animator for this manga classic is excellent. Also being legally blind I have to expand the picture a lot to see the facial expressions but not if the animator is really good and I know I keep talking about the animator but the one for Romeo and Juliet was awesome I wish I could remember his name. All I know is the author and animator made this a totally refreshing look at a classic even my teenage daughter wanted to read it. since before I went blind I’ve love comics and now with technology I can read them again and this is just the second one I have read and I loved it. I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

A classic play told in a different format. William Shakespeare’s plays have never been my favorite. Possibly because we were forced to learn it in school in a very textbook style method and then write multiple essays that never went well. Or maybe it was the writing, which I never understood at times and wondered what really was going on in these plays.
Contrary to my previous experience this manga format was enjoyable. The art isn’t anything fabulous, but it is good. The manga panels are detailed and depict the scenery in utmost detail. There are many scenery changes and each was beautiful. The character designs are unique, yet slightly stereotypical for the time period they are reflecting. Juliet’s character design was my favorite followed by Romeo’s. Also, each character had their own set of facial expressions which helped bring emotions to the story.
The manga, through its art, is able to depict many emotions. There were a lot of comedic and gag expressions used throughout. I felt it bought more life into the play and helped make it more lively and relatable.
The writing can at times be lengthy given it is following Shakespeare’s original work. However, coupled with the manga artwork it’s a bit more helpful in understanding not only what the character’s are saying but also their feelings. I also liked how the words didn’t overlap the art in an awkward manner but fit with the artwork.
Overall, I found this to be a great read. The artwork was definitely an asset to this original play. I wish I had this format available during the time I studied this play as it would have been very helpful and I would have definitely loved it.

If you love the tale of Romeo and Juliet and if you love manga, then you're going to love this manga.
I definitely recommend this.

As much of a theatre nerd as I am, this manga being in the original Shakespearen text really made me not enjoy it as much. I would have preferred a translated work to read.
However, with that being said, I do think that the artists did a fantastic job creating visuals that aided in reading the manga.

“For never was there a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo.”
First of all, the art was absolutely gorgeous and really brought the story to life! It was an enjoyable read, but if I had to be completely honest, it would have gotten lost with this book without having already read and studied Romeo and Juliet in my English class. It’s in English but more of old English, so it can be difficult to understand what is going on if you have not read Romeo and Juliet before. But overall, it was an enjoyable read and I’m very thankful for a manga version of it!

Thank you Udon Entertainment and Netgalley for the ARC.
I'm new to manga. I'll give this 3.5 stars. It was fairly easy to read and quick to get through. It's been out for a little while and I still was able to obtain an ARC. I would recommend it. I enjoyed the take on Romeo and Juliet and manga. It was nice to change up a very old story.

I didn’t know what to expect, as I hadn’t read manga before, but enjoy Shakespeare and the story of Romeo and Juliet. I enjoyed the layout, story and illustrations.

Now, this is how Shakespeare should be adapted to manga! Modernised language but not slangy nor excessively modern, faithful to the original plot without outrageous omissions or additions & changes, beautiful art with expressive faces and lovely settings. This is what I'll be showing the children when they want to read a classic in graphic novel/manga version, as it's simply one of the best in Udon's Manga Classics series.

I just could not get into this. Old English is not for me. I speak english as a second language, but this just too hard to understand and although i liked the illustrations, it was confusing and very boring.
Thank you for Netgalley for the ebook.

(First of all, thank you so much NetGalley, publisher, and author, for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review)
I can't believe searching for books in Netgalley that I would find a manga version of Romeo and Juliet. I have been in love with this story since I first read it so many years ago and I love to read and watch different adaptations. So of course I requested this manga and I enjoyed it so much. I love the drawings and the sketch of the characters at the beginning of the manga. I really, really recommend it.

I love this adaptation! It's very faithful, it maintains the language of Shakespeare. The illustrations are beautiful and I definitely recommend it to manga fans and fans of Shakespeare who enjoy comics as a whole.

This is an absolutely beautiful rendition of the classic tale. The characters are wonderfully drawn and give a depth to the story that I hadn't previously seen with just reading it.
I shared the story with my children and the teen was thoroughly impressed. They said it gave them a much better understanding of the story and it actually helped them pass their lesson on Romeo and Juliet with flying colors.
My younger daughters (7-9) also loved this book as the action was easy to follow. I feel like this book was a great addition to the Classics series and would work for all ages, story content and appropriateness considered.

This graphic novel was brilliant. I wish this book was around when I was at school as I would of understood the book so much better than I did. I just loved how easy it was to read and understand with brilliant pictures connected with the old English words of William Shakespeare. It makes it so much easier to understand the contect the morals and means of his words. This is why I really believe this book should be read in all schools or it could be a handy book to have open as you read the full text as Shakespeare wrote. The pictures were just so expressive making the story so much more powerful to read . It aided the intake of the old English language. I recommend this book for children and adults alike as you can really learn from reading it and it's more of a fun and very enjoyable medium. I just couldn't put this novel down and had to read it in one sitting. I really do look forward to reading more classics through graphic novels.
So much praise goes to the creators and publishers for bringing such powerful story to life. Also creating such a wonderful supportive reflection of a literary masterpiece.

The story was fine but the copy I received was really annoying to read so I couldn't continue. So I didn't finish the book maybe this type of book arent for me digitally.

This is one of my favourite classics, and being able to read it in a different way was nice. I'm not really into manga, but I really enjoyed this one. It doen't change the original story, it illustrates it and it makes it easier for people that are not into classics to be able to read them. I just think that it was a nice read and that everybody can enjoy it.

The art was absolutely stunning! You could tell all the characters apart and they definitely did not suffer from the common ‘same face syndrome’.
This is a great introduction into Shakespeare’s works. It is less of a hurdle with its drawings and more simple language. I suggest reading this book if you are looking to get into Shakespeare or have already read some of his works.
Overall, it was a wonderful adaptation.

I've seen so many interpretations of Romeo and Juliet, this one is so beautiful. I truly love everything about this, the art style, atmosphere and everything that pulls it together. I'd love to read more :)
