HOLY FLIPPING CHEESEBALLS!!!!!! This book!!!!!!

I have no idea how my review is going to do the book justice! I'm half tempted to write my review as 'OMG OMG OMG I F****** LOVED THIS BOOK!'. Whilst I cannot promise anything more eloquent than that, I will try my best to ensure that my review makes sense!

Josie Quinn has witnessed the aftermath of a mother's worst nightmare - her child being taken. Luckily, in a roundabout way, the mother is unavoidably detained where the pain of her child going missing won't be evident. Unfortunately for her though, she has to experience a lot of other pain at the hands of someone who has done a runner. Who in their right mind would do this to a mother? The investigation becomes a lot more complex has Josie's personal life becomes part of it. Will Detective Quinn get to the bottom of the baby's disappearance before another person is harmed? Or is she too late to save the baby?

There was a little bit of the storyline near the beginning which seemed, in my eyes, to have a bit missing. One moment Josie's other half was left in the living room when she got called to go to work, and then the next he's a wanted person. It honestly felt like those events happened in the same day, either way I was really confused.

That literally was the only irk I had with 'The Girl With No Name' and, seeing as the rest of the storyline completely blew me away ten times over, the irk became a lot less important the more of the book I read. Even I'm not that mean to knock a star off for a little crossed wires.

If you're in the mood for a fast paced, untouchable, chilling and breathtaking novel, 'The Girl With No Name' is definitely for you. Hell, even if you want to try something new I would suggest reading this!!

The storyline is very cut throat and complex, with a lot of carefully woven webs hidden in the storyline for the reader when they least expect. I am so surprised that I didn't end up fainting due to lack of oxygen to the brain - yes readers, I forgot to breathe as I was too busy dropping my jaw in shock at what my eyes had devoured.

What I loved most about this book was how intricately thought out each situation was with the individual characters. Instead of just writing one dicey scenario and including all of the characters in that, the author managed to make each circumstance unique whilst also matching it up to the overall theme of the story. I was flabbergasted by what I was reading and Lisa Regan deserves high praise for what she has achieved with this book, that's for sure!

I have a feeling that I'm going to be shouting about this book for a very long time! With characters so memorable they get under your skin, alongside a storyline so complex it requires its own timeline of events, 'The Girl With No Name' is an extraordinary read which delivered in both suspense and the shock factor. I will recommend Lisa Regan's novel as much as it deserves to be recommended - for a lifetime!

This was an absolutely brilliant book, got into it straight away and it was easy to read, the story flowed, loved the good guys and a fair amount of bad guys to hate! It was unputdownable! Just wanted to keep on reading to find out what happened next. Will be looking for more from this author as first time of reading her work and wasn't disappointed

This is the second book in the Detective Josie Quinn series that I have had the pleasure of reading and reviewing. The first book in the series ‘Vanishing Girls’ was released in January 2018. I did enjoy reading ‘Vanishing Girls’ so it was with some excitement that I picked up ‘The Girl With No Name’ and began to read. Boy oh boy I thought that ‘Vanishing Girls’ was good but ‘The Girl With No Name’ is even better. I absolutely loved reading ‘The Girl With No Name’ but more about that in a bit.
I did like the character of Josie Quinn and I warmed to her from the beginning of the first book and nothing happened in the second book to change my opinion of her. Josie Quinn has been promoted since the events of the last book. Josie Quinn is pleased to be promoted but I think that she misses some of the day to day detective work. Josie is engaged but her fiancé isn’t exactly enthusiastic about planning the wedding and Josie begins to wonder if he still wants to get married. Her fiance is also a police officer but by the sounds of it he is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after finding the bodies of his friend and his friend’s wife. However, being the typical man that he is, he doesn’t want to talk about it and he is reluctant to seek the help that he so needs. This places Josie under a huge amount of stress and that’s before she gets to work. Josie is a hard working and courageous police officer, who has been through a lot. This case affects her more than it normally would do because she knows the victim. The lady, who had her baby snatched from her is a lady who had an affair with Quinn’s ex-husband. I loved the close friendship that Josie has with her work partner. Each has the other’s backs.
My initial thought on finishing the book was ‘blooming heck (or words to that effect) what a fantastic story and rollercoaster ride that was’. The story hits the ground running and maintains the pace throughout. To say I was addicted to the book from start to finish is something of an understatement. The book reeled me in from the very first word on the very first page and kept me hooked until the last word on the last page. It was almost as if the book had me under a spell. For me ‘The Girl With No Name’ really is a ‘CPID’ (can’t put it down) book. It was almost as if the book was glued to my hand because it came everywhere with me. I am easily distracted but not when I was reading ‘The Girl With No Name’ because I was able to shut out any other distractions, just so I could concentrate on the story. I would say that reading ‘The Girl With No Name’ is much like being on one of the scariest rollercoaster rides because there are lots of twists, lots of turns and several moments where you just want to shout out a rude word and put your hands over your eyes because you fear what is going to happen next. Well I was the same with this book. I almost had to read through my fingers because I feared what was going to happen next but I also knew that I had to read on because I needed to know how the story ended. There were also times when something happened that was so unexpected and shocking that I couldn’t believe I had just read it and I had to read that section again. The story could be pootling along and then bam, an incident happens which is so unexpected that reading it feels like a punch to your stomach and it knocks the breath out of you. I thought that ‘Vanishing Girls’ was good but ‘The Girl With No Name’ just blows ‘Vanishing Girls’ out of the water and is easily my favourite book of the series so far. I strongly suspect that this is a series that will just get better and better with each and every book that is released.
I absolutely loved reading ‘The Girl With No Name’ and I would definitely recommend this book to others. I can’t wait for the next book in the series and here’s hoping that we don’t have too long a wait in store. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a well deserved 5* out of 5*.

Police Chief Josie Quinn has her hands full in this second book of the series. A badly beaten woman, a stolen newborn, a woman who claims she doesn't know her own name, and a missing fiance. Her missing fiance, Luke. How are all of these connected? The investigation keeps Josie and her team busy as they search in Denton for clues and evidence. Bodies keep turning up in town and Josie can't make the pieces fit until she gets some very important information from a most unusual source.

This was very fast-paced and, though Josie seems to require no food or sleep, the action moves the narrative forward in classic police procedural. Although I like the character of Josie, she -- like seemingly all other female detectives -- is quite messed up in her personal life. Josie takes risks and trusts in her own judgement no matter how dangerous the situations in which she becomes involved. She's nursing old wounds both physical and emotional and a little more of her backstory is revealed in this book. It would be best to read the first one in the series before reading this one as there are several references to the previous case. I hope Josie will get herself together so she can find some personal satisfaction as all she seems to do is work.

I enjoyed this and look forward to reading the next one in the series. Very easy to get through this in a day and just as well in order to keep all the characters and their relationships straight as the case is very complicated.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this e-book ARC to read and review.

The Girl With No Name by Lisa Regan is the 2nd in the Josie Quinn Detective Series.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Series Background:
Josie Quinn was made Chief of Police in Denton, Pennsylvania after solving a large case which resulted in the kidnapping, torture and deaths of many young girls in the area. Some of the perpetrators were on the police force, including her ex, Ray, who died during the take-down. Although Ray and Josie had both moved on with other people, Ray had never signed the divorce papers. Josie took his death hard. She has been re-building the police force.

My Synopsis:
Josie’s fiancé has been hiding something, ever since his friend Brady and his wife were part of a murder-suicide. Luke just hasn’t been the same. When he goes missing and Josie finds a woman living in his house, she needs some answers. When she is called to the house of Ray’s girlfriend on another call, she finds that Misty had been beaten badly, and it looks like she had just given birth. But where is the baby, and who is the father? There are a lot of potential fathers, for Misty was notoriously promiscuous.

Further investigation just makes things more confusing. Now the woman from Luke’s house has disappeared as well, and everything seems to tie back to Brady, and to Eric Dunn, a casino mogul who is trying to get the okay to build a casino in the area. The mayor is putting on the pressure to solve this case (and to avoid mentioning that her own husband may have been the father of Misty’s baby). As well, the town billionaire gets involved with a reward for information about the baby.

Before this case is solved, Josie will have to face some uncomfortable truths.

My Opinions:
I didn’t particularly like Josie Quinn in the first novel, but she has grown on me. Her personal life still sucks, and she seems to have hung on to her first husband a little too much. I think there is a lot we still don’t know about her, but the author is revealing a little more in each book. We really felt the different emotions that Josie went through in this book, we felt her passion, her strengths, her pain, her worries. I love Lieutenant Fraley (he’d pair up nicely with Josie – just saying). Regan has surrounded Josie with a good support team. It works.

The whole plot was really good, with a lot of twists, and when things started opening up, I was surprised – pleasantly. Regan writes really well.  It is action-packed and has a really fast pace.

Looking forward to the next in the series!

Wow, what a book! I absolutely loved the first book in the series - I didn't think it was possible to better it. But I was wrong. This edge of the seat thriller that grips you from the very first page is even better! Absolutely brilliant, fast faced, with a fantastic resolution, this has everything I look for in the very best crime novels. This author is right up there with my favourite crime writers. Highly recommended.

I received a free copy of The Girl With No Name (Detective Josie Quinn, #2) from NetGalley for my honest review.

I was thrilled to get a copy of this book as I absolutely loved the first book in the series, Vanishing Girls. I loved the characters, and found the book to be just as wonderful as the first book. I am not a person who normally gets into series books but am so pleased with these. Fantastic book, wonderful plot, great details and lots of excitement. Murder, extortion, kidnapping, oh my. I highly recommend this book series. It will not disappoint. Can't wait for the next book.

This is a fantastic book and I think it’s even better than the first in the series.
Detective Josie Quinn is planning her wedding but her fiancé, Luke is acting strange. Josie tries to spend some time with him but then gets a call that she can’t ignore.
When she gets to the house she finds a woman badly beaten and her newborn baby is nowhere to be seen.
They start the search for the baby and in the process Josie goes to Luke’s house and finds a lot of blood in the kitchen and then sees a woman running away. When she catches up with her, the woman has no memory of who she is or why she’s in Luke’s house.
The hunt is then on for the baby and Luke.
Josie uncovers lots of hidden information during the course of the investigation and has a job to unravel it all with her team.
The book is full of great characters and you won’t know who to trust throughout it.
This is a gripping read and the ending will have you racing through the pages to find out what happens.
I love the character of Detective Josie Quinn and can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

I stumbled a bit at the beginning of this book as it picks up 18 months after Vanishing Girls left off. With Josie now the police chief and her boyfriend being totally withdrawn and depressed, it didn't feel like the same people we met in the first book. But that is because in 18 months a lot of things had changed. Josie begins with a lot of loose ends, including a boyfriend who disappears, a newborn baby who disappears, and an amnesic woman in custody. While I enjoyed the book and Ms. Regan's writing, I think my favorite part was the random chapters interjected throughout the book of newspaper articles about people dying. It added a great quirky touch to the story! But I do hope Josie steps down from being the police chief because my biggest issue with the story was echoed by one of her employees: she is too involved in the cases. Josie needs to be a detective.

A twisty suspenseful read tat will have you st the edge of your seat! I love Josie Quinn's character and "take no crap" from anyone personality. She has a lot on her plate in this book! Fast paced. Great detective crime novel.

The Girl With No Name takes off a year or so after the end of Vanishing Girls. Josie is now Chief Quinn, battling bureaucracy and paperwork at work and an increasingly distant fiancé at home. When Misty Derrossi’s newborn baby goes missing and Luke is kidnapped, Quinn finds herself at the forefront of action once again. As her investigation proceeds, Josie discovers that her fiancé is not the man she thought him to be.

If you are a stickler for realistic cop procedures and investigations, you may find the plot a bit too far-fetched at times. But still it was an enjoyable read and I loved the character development, especially Noah. Also I was not a fan of Luke’s character from the first book, so I’m not shedding any tears. I’ll be looking forward to the next installment in the series.

The Girl With No Name (Detective Josie Quinn Book 2) is a fantastic read. I enjoyed this more than book one and that was great too! Lisa Regan is a great writer who I have recently discovered and have enjoyed everything of hers that I have read - this one is no exception.

Josie Quinn is enjoying a rare day off at home with her fiancé Luke when she gets called out to a home that she is familiar with. A woman has been attacked and her new born baby abducted. A woman is seen running from the house, but when Josie finds her she is unable to remember anything.

The race is now on to find the baby safe before anybody else is hurt. Josie and her team work tirelessly to solve this case. Who has taken the baby and why? And what are the connections to Josie?

The character of Josie is developed a lot more in this book. Her relationships with her family and team become stronger. This series is just getting better. Looking forward to the next book.

Many thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book to read and enjoy in exchange for my honest opinions

Josie Quinn is back at it again ! This might be one of my favorite detective series, most of the detective series I read have a man as the main character. It's such a breath of fresh air having a female as the detective. She's not perfect, and there is more to her story that I suppose will come out in other books, but I'm hooked !

This book was really unpredictable! I didn't see any of it happening, and was action packed! My kind of novel ! Also, my favorite, short chapters that keeps you on edge!

Additionally, I usually don't get the "feels" in mystery books but I got them in this one ! I really was invested and glad the novel turned out the way it did. There is one tiny part about the end I was sad about, but I understand why it had to happened that way (hard to give a full review and not to spoil if for you). 5 star read for me and highly recommend ! If you are going to read this book I would start with [book:Vanishing Girls|36441275]

Thank you to Bookouture for providing me with an electronic ARC of this book via NetGalley. As usual, my reviews are my honest and unbiased opinions.

This is the second book in a series and I haven’t read the first one. This one can be read as a standalone but I wish I had read it first because that would probably have made it easier to read this one. Josie Quinn is the Chief of Police in a tiny town and her fiancé is with the state police. It’s probably only in a tiny town you can get away with being chief of police and pretty much flaunt all rules and regulations. Josie is constantly doing exactly what she wants and does it while her whole staff literally tell her that she needs to leave the investigations to them because she is too closely involved. I think that if she had listened instead of being so hard headed a lot of what happens most likely wouldn’t have happened. Josie is too close and it’s not like she has a staff full of bumbling detectives. The deaths of young people are interspersed throughout the book and eventually get annoying because you don’t know why they are there other than they separate chapters. When eventually you told why they are there it just seems ludicrous. Overall I liked the book and will recommend it to others. Thanks to #NetGalley for letting me read this book in exchange for my unbiased review.

I love to read anything by Lisa Regan and this book did not disappoint! Full of twists and turns that you won’t see coming, it kept me up reading long into the night! I’m looking forward to reading more books with Josie in them and seeing how her character developed.

This is the second book about Detective Josie Quinn and, although it can be read as a stand alone adventure, I'd recommend reading the first book 'The Vanishing Girls' as it really helps set the scene and gives some background to this story.

This book is a good, well told story that picks up with Josie and her fiancé Luke and tells an intricate tale of a kidnapped baby, murder and family secrets, interspersed with news updates on deaths, the relevance of which doesn't become clear until the end of the book. It kept me interested throughout, although, I did find the lead character of Josie frustrating and irritating in equal measure at times!

All in all, it's a good page turner that will keep you guessing and that nicely wraps up all loose ends.

The Girl With No Name (Detective Josie Quinn Book 2)

by Lisa Regan

Bookouture

General Fiction (Adult) , Mystery & Thrillers

Pub Date 19 Apr 2018

I am reviewing a copy of The Girl With No Name through Bookouture and Netgalley:

Detective Josie Quinn is shocked and horrified when she is called into the house of a Mother who has her newborn snatched right from her eyes.

A girl who flees the scene is her only lead unfortunately the girl has no memory of who she is and can’t offer much help.

Detective Josie Quinn does not know whether the girl is a witness, a suspect or the next victim.

A letter about a mix up at a fertility clinic comes to light as Josie delves into the case. A letter that links the nameless girl to killings across the county.

Josie must decide if she should risk this child’s life to save the life of others, or can she save them another way?

If you like on the edge of your seat suspense you will love The Girl With No Name.

Five out of five stars!

Happy Reading

I have really enjoyed Josie Quinn, our star in this murder mystery. There are times we are required to believe in just too many coincidences and most police policy doesn't seem to be rigorously enforced, but as a murder mystery that is fully acceptable. Lisa Regan is an author I will watch for in future. She has an admirable imagination.

I received a free electronic copy of this novel from Netgalley, Lisa Regan, and Bookouture in exchange for an honest review. Thank you all for sharing your hard work with me.

I loved Lisa's last book so I was really excited to see that this one was being released!! I started reading it as soon as it landed on my Kindle and was thrown straight in to the story - it is fast paced, well written and gripping!!

The book has an excellent story and it kept me guessing. I loved the characters and I am really enjoying reading about Detective Josie Quinn. I love her team and their interaction is spot on for this series and they are definitely characters that I can really warm too. There are quite a few plot lines in this one which could have the potential to make it a bit confusing but that doesn't happen and they are all brought together so well and the ending is brilliant!

Five stars from me, Lisa is becoming one of my favourite authors of this genre and this book is very highly recommended to any fans of the crime fiction genre!

Detective Josie Quinn is back and has found herself in a case that shake her to the core. It’s the second installment of the series, and it did not disappoint. I don’t think you necessarily have to read the first book to understand what is going on in this one, but I think it helps getting to know a little more about Josie, Luke and Missy who all involved in this book. Plus, it was really GOOD, so of course, I would recommend reading it anyway.

Det. Quinn is settling in her new role as Police Chief. She and her fiancé Luke are planning to get married soon. He is a little distant when it comes to the whole wedding planning thing, but it isn’t something guys get into all that much. They both went through an ordeal from a previous case, that has left them piecing back together their lives.

Josie is trying to put aside everything that happened, especially becasue of her new appointment as Chief. Trying to move on isn’t always easy, but I truly admired her strength, and not letting her personal issued get in the way of her work. Her new case might be a little hard to stomach, a woman found beaten, and the baby she just delivered was taken from her. The fact that the women happens to be her late husband’s girlfriend, makes this case a little personal. She has to push her feelings aside, there is an innocent baby missing and the Missy is fighting for her life. But add to all that, Luke is now missing too!

With only one lead, the msyterious woman they caught leaving Missy’s house, who of course isn’t talking, they have to just keep digging. The more they investigate, the more bizarre the whole case seem to get. It was certainly a multi layered case too, buried bodies being found, (gangsters, where did they come from?) Luke missing, and clues pointing to him having some involvement in it all and then the whole fertility clinic fiasco, I could unstand Josie’s frustration and determination to get this case solved. Hell I even got frustrated trying to piece it all together, that is a lot of evidence to sort through and make sense of. So, I just had to sit back and follow the clues right along with her and the detectives and see where/who they led to. Don’t know how Josie managed to keep her head on straight through it all, but she did. Of course, she is kinda a badass, so..

With so many suspects coming into play, and Josie’s own personal interest in the case, not to mention to the search for the missing baby, all made for one page turning read and I couldn’t get enough. The suspense was always there so never a dull moment, just plenty of second guessing going on. Loved the ending too. I am looking forward to the next book, The Bad Mother which will be out in August. It’s. So. Far. Away… I can’t help but wonder what case Detective Josie Quinn will take us on next?
