I liked this. Considering that unworthy-of-love is my least favorite obstacle in a romance, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this. A quick, steamy read.

Kelly Siskind has a great writing style, it draws you right into the character's head and she's able to give different voices to different POVs.

This book starts off really strong and has a great plot that doesn't really centre on the romance. unfortunately I felt like it really slowed down in the last third of the book and I really struggled to push myself to finish.

This book took me sometimes to finish. I found the story a bit boring at some point and I've paused a few times. The plot is great I would say, but it will be better on TV, the story gave me a feeling of TV series. A 4 stars given to this book.

LICKS is a novel written by Kelly Siskind and follows the up and down relationship between Gwen and August. It spans the years from children through adults, in true life fashion. There is teenage angst, laughter, heartbreak, hope and love. The book is told from 2 POVs which adds a richness to the plot and gives depth to each character. Gwen's life is molded by the lack of maternal love while August leads a life of seemingly perfection. As in real life, what you see is not always what you get. Gwen's insecurities and low self-esteem lead to some bad choices with far-reaching effects to all involved. Years later, unusual circumstances reunite Gwen and August and thrust those bad decisions back into the limelight.
The author writes a wonderful story that will tug at your heartstrings and bring tears to your eyes. As in great books, this author makes you FEEL. The book is intended for mature readers for language and sexual content. While there is plenty of both, they are not the heart of the story. Add in an HEA, and you have a 5 star read, worthy of your time and attention.

Okay first off this book was great. The characters were relatable. It definitely didn't see it going the way it did. This was my first book I've read in this series and the first book I've read by this author

Gwen and August grew up together and had a relationship. A series of events led to them separating for nine years. August ends up on Gwen's doorstep with her dead mother's diary. The chemistry between these two was hot. Will Gwen find her father? Will old hurts tear the couple apart again? Read on to find out.

LICKS: A sexy scavenger hunt through San Francisco.

Gwen Hamilton has grown up with no family, other than her emotionally distant mother. ‘Licks’ opens 9 years ago, with Gwen Hamilton marinating in jägermeister and self-pity on her 19th birthday, which leads to a poor decision that will become known as her ‘worst terrible fuck-up’ or WTF and costs her a chance with former best friend and long time crush, August Cruz.

Next chapter, present day, August has become a musician popular in Europe, and Gwen’s WTF has inspired some cracking songs. He arrives back in town to confront Gwen, and on the same day lost luggage containing her mother’s teenage diary shows up.

Gwen has 36 hours before her birthday wish deadline of finding her father, and she manages to convince August to join her in chasing clues and leads that the diary contains. Chapters are named as a countdown.

Siskind is fantastic at building tension – both sexual tension and the diary scavenger hunt. She weaves in memories and coincidences through the story in a way that is engaging and believable. The sex scenes are hot, and the scavanger hunt is fun and surprising.

This book is #3 in Siskind’s “One Wild Wish” series. It can be read as a stand alone – while it does refer to couples featured in the first two books, it doesn’t drop spoilers. However, since I enjoyed this read so much, I’m off to add books #1 (Legs) and #2 (Stud) in the series to my kindle…

I was given this book in exchange for my honest review. This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. Right from the beginning Gwen and August are in a bad place with their friendship. They have been best friends since childhood and both want a relationship that goes beyond friendship but they keep managing to screw up their chances. Their are 2 different parts to the story, the 2nd taking place 9 years after the first. Kelly takes the reader on quite the roller coaster ride. Gwen's mother passing away, her diary showing up 11 years after it was lost and the journey to find her father. August gets caught up in the craziness and it all happens in just a matter of hours. I will be reading the other 2 books in this series very soon. I recommend this book.

An extremely well written, heartfelt and entertaining second-chance romance. August and Gwen were best friends from childhood, however hormones got involved and then nine years ago Gwen made a terrible mistake. Fast forward to the present day and suddenly these two people have 36 hours to resolve their past, complete a quest and see if they can build a future!
I loved this book. All of the characters were wonderful and I’m determined to go back and read the previous two books in this series. The plot was great (with the perfect amount of angst) and the chemistry between August and Gwen sizzled. What I really enjoyed was the humour, the past these characters shared was pretty tragic, but the humour they displayed made the way they were able to move past this authentic.
Highly recommended.

This is my first read by this author and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. My heart hurt for Gwen and although I didn’t agree with some of her decisions or actions, I can safely say that I understand them. Kelly Siskind did a fantastic job at portraying exactly what was going through each characters head and I really felt like I was going through it with them. The characters were great, I loved them especially Ainsley. I feel like we could all do with someone like her in our lives, never a dull moment!
I can’t wait to read more from this author.

This is my first book from this author and it definitely won't be the last!

I love rock star romances and usually only expect them to be fluffy romantic reads but this one is so much more. This story takes you on a complete emotional roller coaster!

I have very much enjoyed this series from Kelly Siskind. It has the perfect blend of humor, angst and romance. I have to say though that my excitement for Licks was even more amplified because of the promise of a second chance romance. After fake-dating, second chance romance is my favorite trope, so obviously I was excited to read Licks. Kelly Siskind totally delivered with this book. It had just the right amount of angst that I like in my second chance romances and managed to be very very swoony.

I loved that the protagonists, Gwen and August, were childhood friends whose friendship slowly developed into deeper feelings. However, unfortunately for them, the timing just wasn't right, and they both wound up deeply hurting each other. Fast forward a few years, Gwen's mom has just passed and August suddenly makes a re-appearance, along with a suitcase belonging to Gwen's mom that promised perhaps finding her father. Together, August and Gwen go on an adventure trying to figure out the clues that her mom left behind. As they go on this adventure, they realize that their feelings for each other have only amplified over the years. The romance was lovely. It was angsty at times but the chemistry kept it alive. Their feelings for each other were intense and add in that steamy chemistry, what you ended up was a really good romance.

It also helped that I liked both of the characters. They both had their strengths and their flaws. There were times when I found both characters to be quite questionable when it came to their thoughts - they seemed a bit out of place if I'm being honest. Overall though, they were both likable and it was easy to see where they were coming from when they made mistakes. Plus, I very much enjoy reading books with characters that aren't always perfect. As with the other books in the series, I also enjoyed seeing the female friendship. It was strong as ever and these girls just made my heart full with the amount of love and support they had for each other.

While a little more serious in tone compared to the other books in the series, Licks was a solid addition to it. If you're fond of second chance romances and flawed characters, this one is for you!

This rockstar romance romance features August, singer-songwriter, and Gwen, adoption social worker. These characters get a second chance at love when circumstances bring them back together after a nine year separation. Siskind crafts a surprisingly emotional story of love, lost, and regret. I didn't expect the level of angst. I really enjoyed this book. Thanks to CD Books for the ARC of this title via NetGalley.

5 Gwen and August stars!

I read a couple of Kelly Siskind's books and they were all funny, sexy and hilarious. Licks was everything Kelly style but also emotionally fabulous with a unique story that won't be easily forgotten.

The main story takes place of a couple of days. A lot happens in that short time period. August and Gwen were best friends who lives were detoured due to misunderstandings, secrets, and insecurities. They both were in love with the other but never acted on it. Just when things look like they may work out, an unthinkable betrayal occurs. 9 years later the two are reunited after the death of Gwen's mother. Their feelings are pushed to the forefront and things get interesting. More lies, secrets and mysteries are uncovered when they search for Gwen's father. The story is good with a touch of mystery, weird coincidences, and a lot of sexy fun. Gwen and August go through a lot to get their HEA. We also get some fun times with the couples from previous stories. Gwen's two friends and their significant others add some humor.
