In the future humans or as they are called hepers are few and far in between. Hunted to the brink of extinction by vampire-like creatures. Gene is a heper struggling not to get noticed because if you get found out you will die. Everything is normal for a while but then the ruler annouces that their will be a heper hunt the first one in ten years. Gene gets picked and as time goes on he learns dangerous secrets and struggles to survive. This book is an action-packed thriller that is half Hunger Games and half The Forest of Hands And Teeth. The Hunt is definetly a book that cannot be missed. Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down.
After Gene's family dies, he's on his own. Living his life as an impostor, with no one look after him but himself. But he knows the rules like the back of his hand. He has to, to blend in so well with them. To not be mauled by them.
Everything goes as planned until he is chosen to take part in 'The Hunt'.
At first I thought this book was about werewolves, but I was pleasantly surprised it's about vampires! It is disgusting in some parts with the blood and saliva dripping down their chins. They eat like ravenous wild animals. But I loved it, lol!
It has a male's point of view, which I don't see very often.
The end of the book left a lot of questions, with that cliffhanger ending.
Thank you St. Martin's Griffin and NetGalley for providing a digital copy of the book!
I could not finish this book as I just could not get into it and didn’t like the characters
Unfortunately this book was not for me. Thank you for the opportunity to review The Hunt.
