This book was the exciting conclusion in the Tox Files series. I enjoyed the addition of an archaeological spin on Ronie Kendig's typical military/Special Ops stories.
Because of all the details running among the three books (plus prequel) I believe these are best read consecutively as well as close together in timing. Sometimes I felt as though loose ends were left undone. I'm not sure if this was an omission of the author or if it was due to my reading each book as it was published with large gaps of time in between.
I look forward to seeing more works by Ronie Kendig of this type (centered around mysterious artifacts).
I was provided with a review copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Thirst of Steel is the third and final book in the Tox Files. This series was one I thought I'd enjoy (since I've loved other Kendig novels), but it was a miss for me. The characters were enjoyable and I did enjoy some aspects of the story, but I wasn't a fan of the curse element and found that I had a difficult time keeping track of all the characters.
Reading other reviews, I can tell that most people loved this book; so, if it sounds like something you'd enjoy, I say give it a shot. Definitely read the series in order, though, as it follows the same characters.

Wow. What an amazing ending to this series. It kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book. I can’t recommend this series enough!
Word to the Wise: This book does contain some darker characters and themes. I'm not going to say that "its not for the faint of heart" but be advised, there is a complexity and realness to these characters.
What's the Skinny: I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Usually, I find communicating in memes to be quite annoying, but I'm still speechless and this book did a number on me. I still have not recovered.
This is the last installment in The Tox Files series. It comes with all the same characters we know and love (yes, I binged this series hardcore) with some new ones that are irresistible.
The Wraith Team is back at it again with the same quick witted banter, jealousy, and deep dark secrets. The action was fast paced and the story moves along, keeping you engaged every step of the way. Ronie Kendig brings a refreshing outlook to the table by creating characters that are wrestling with very real life situations, emotions, and spiritual questions. She has created heroes that move and function like superheroes but have to work through issues of love- from God, romantically, and brotherly.
My face after reading this book
I would LOVE to tell you I loved the ending. That it was perfection and everything I ever wanted in a series that made me dream happy thoughts, but I cried. Yup, I cried tears and my husband quietly consoled me probably wondering why I continue to read books that take my emotions out of control. The fantastic notion about the ending of this book is that it wraps up well, you feel the characters shock and pain every step of the way. Extra bonus was being able to get more perspectives from other characters as they went on their journey, ultimately leading them together for a final bang!
I highly recommend reading this series just so you can read this last book because OH EM GHEE!
Absolutely fabulous book! A wonderful way to wrap up this series, this book will have you on the edge of your seat until the very last page. I cried, I laughed, and I wished it hadn't ended so soon! This will forever be one of my favorite series.
I loved this fast-paced, action novel. The author does an excellent job with suspense, fight scenes, and high tension situations.
I’m writing this immediately after finishing this book, which may not be the greatest idea but I needed to get my thoughts down before I could move on with life.
This book. This series. This author. I’ve been a Ronie Kendig fan since day one and I’ve faithfully read each and everyone of her romantic suspense novels. And each and every time she blows me away. This Tox series was a little different than her other ones in that it focuses on one main character throughout the series. So I’m going to keep this spoiler free for those who haven’t read books one and two, which is why I may be a little vague.
I’m sitting here typing this out just minutes after reading the final page and I’m honestly wrecked. My heart and emotions still haven’t returned to normal and there are still tears on my face. It takes skill to write a fast paced suspense that also can make you feel all the feels, and it is a skill Ronie Kendig has by the bucketful!
I have loved getting to know this whole cast of characters, Tox and his team, Haven, Tzivia, and so many others. Each one is unique and masterfully written and throughout the book you get to see more and more of what makes them tick until you feel like they're not just fictional characters but actul people. I really liked how this book gave more of Ram’s story since he’s one of my absolute favorite team members, though they're all pretty awesome!
Every second of this book was brilliant and it got to the point that I could barely stand to put it down!
A fitting conclusion to a series that was absolutely amazing from start to finish. You absolutely need to read them if you enjoy suspense with a little romance-but definitely make sure to start at the beginning or you may be a little lost! These books are a little on the long-side and there are countless characters but once you are inside the pages it doesn’t feel like that at all and you get totally sucked into the epic story.
Um, wow. What a wild conclusion to this explosive series! Packed with loads of action, plot twists (oh, those plot twists . . . ), snark, emotion, and a tad bit of romance, Thirst of Steel will keep you on the edge of your seat! I could not have asked for a better conclusion to the series, and while my emotions are still recovering from the hit they took at the end of the book, I am supremely happy with that ending. :D If you love a good military thriller, then definitely check out this series!
Thirst Of Steel by Ronie Kendig is a thrilling Christian suspense. It is the third and final book in the Tox Files series.
Once again Ronie Kendig has spun an intricate tale that keeps the reader on their toes. Familiar characters continue to fight against evil forces. The team is loyal and has each other’s backs.
There is the question of truth and lies. Not everything is as it seems. Going deep undercover means sometimes lines are blurred. Characters risk their own safety to bring others to justice.
A centuries old curse needs to be broken as brilliant minds try to piece old artefacts together.
The novel has a cosmopolitan feel to it as we travel from London to Moscow to America and Latvia, to name but a few. There are spies and counter spies. There was definitely a Cold War feel to the novel even though it is a contemporary setting.
Family is important. They must be protected.
I enjoyed Thirst Of Steel. I did not always follow everything that was going on as there were twists and turns along the way but it was a thrilling read. I think these three books in the Tox Files series would make fabulous movies.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
I am at a loss as to how to write this review. How to get across how incredibly wonderful this story, no, this entire series is ~ with no spoilers. The twists and turns will keep you reading as fast as you can while holding your breath and hoping for no interruptions. You also might find yourself telling everyone in your house ~yes, everyone ~ what is happening.
So, here is what I can say. I loved reconnecting with all the old characters. The camaraderie between the guys is great and I love the fierce loyalty they have to each other. I love the pops of humor throughout. There is also a wonderful new character ~ Mercy. I love her! She is funny, super smart, and the names she gives people are hilarious! And, of course, there’s TOX. Pretty much the best male character ever! I also have to say I totally cried - a lot. And I shamelessly bugged my reader friends to find someone who has read this story because I needed to talk about it! Thank you Ronie for the spoilers page!
Ronie is a master!! She beautifully weaves the ancient story with the current story. Agh! I wish I could spoiler because this book is just so awesome and beautifully ties everything together. I hate that this series is over. This entire series is in a class by itself as is Ronie Kendig!
Update: I wrote this review the day I finished this book ~ 11 days ago! And I cannot get this story or the characters off of my mind! Ronie Kendig is a master at storytelling! This series should be made into a movie! It’s just that good.
I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Thirst of Steel is all I’ve come to expect from Ronie Kendig’s Tox Files series—and then some. From the start, this book pulls readers into an addicting adventure with now well-loved characters and then, twists and turns its way to the end through ancient history and legend with all the necessary action and suspense. I don’t want to say too much and spoil the fun, but emotions run high with Cole “Tox” Russell and his team (or at least, mine did) as the series comes to a satisfying, but definitely hangover-inducing conclusion. I absolutely loved Thirst of Steel and can’t recommend it enough. It’s a page-turner you won’t regret picking up. (Do start at the beginning of the series and read the books in order, if you haven’t already—it’s worth it.)
The Heirloom is a collection of four novellas that all center around a brooch that has been passed from mother to daughter through several generations and the true love that will be found by the current owner. The collection follows the passing of the brooch from the 1800's to present day. This is a heartwarming collection of stories centered around Christmastime, but could definitely be read any time of the year. It was interesting to see how the authors connected the stories, but each one could definitely be read by itself. I know some people do not enjoy novellas because there is not as much time for character development, but in my opinion that is not an issue with this collection.
I was given a copy of this collection in exchange for my honest review.
If you followed the Tox Series you will love the conclusion to this series. If you didn’t I’m not sure that it could be read as a stand alone but you could see...
I really like Ronnie Kendig’s books. This series was a bit out of my genre but I’ve read a few of her other books and her series, A Breed Apart and loved it.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.
I don't even know where to begin. Ronie keeps getting better with each book! With charismatic, tortured characters whose flaws and heroism are all too real, she weaves a tale to end all tales with this third--and sadly last--Tox Files novel. The rapid-fire action and intensity had me mesmerized, mouth-gaped, and eyes glued to the pages of this book. It was heart-wrenching and oh-so-incredible.
You amaze me, Ronie Kendig. I can't wait for your next series!
This book is part of a series, so readers might find it helpful to read the first books (although it's not necessary). I have a difficult time placing this sub-genre in any category--it's kind of like paranormal Christian suspense where the paranormal forces are the eternal battle of Good vs. evil with modern-day characters playing parts at different points in history. This is the second in this series that I've read.
I enjoyed the story, but it's not the normal thing I read, nor do I know if there's anything else out there like this so I have no way to compare it to others in it's genre.
An Amazing Conclusion to an Amazing Series. I loved every bit of this rollercoaster ride that this series and this book takes us on. A new favorite series of mine. Highly recommend this series to anyone who loves a good thriller.
This author masterfully brings readers into a suspenseful, nonstop action adventure thrill ride as this Tox Tale team goes on a SAARC mission that is mind blowing for everyone involved, including the reader.
This author does a great job of letting readers get to know each team member as they become a family. I’m sorry I didn’t realize this was book number three in the series. I missed out on knowing these characters deeply as I would have reading the other books. This author did a great job of blending history with current events. I’m always amazed at how well this author writes from the male pov with their mannerisms, dialogue, and all the military tactics and lingo. If you are looking a suspenseful tale, filled with action, adventure with a splash of romance. This is the book for you. You won’t be disappointed.

A thrilling conclusion to The Tox Files series by Ronie Kendig. A book that is filled with action and yet with great insight into the characters. As with each of the books in this series the military ops group led by Tox is again searching for an historical artifact that could be used to bring about massive death and destruction. But someone else is also looking for it to save someone they love.
Ah....Ronie Kendig has done it again! Created a beautiful ending to such a fantastic series!
In this third book, we take a bit of a deviation from the last two and follow more of Ram's story. There's also the introduction of a new character who I really liked - Mercy! I won't go into who she is exactly, but I loved her spunk in this third book. Also, the team comes back together in order to find (and get rid of) a final supernatural artifact. Interposed with short episodes from history, we see where a curse has come from and what it has to do with the sword that killed Goliath.
I really enjoyed the mixture of perspectives that we get to see and the little twists and turns that the story takes (of which I will remain silent so as not to spoil it). I did have a bit of confusion when it came to piecing it all together - BUT it all made sense at the end, something Kendig always does an excellent job at.
I'm sad to see this series end, but also excited for a new series from Ronie, one of my favorite romantic suspense authors! If you enjoy well-written suspense, military suspense, and romantic suspense, you are going to LOVE Ronie's books and writing. She is a master!

I received this book for free but was under no obligation to post a review. I do so under my own motivation and the opinions I have expressed in this review are honest and entirely my own.
I have never read anything by Ronie. I have seen her books but never picked it up. But I thought, why not give it a try. I like action packed books and this sounded like that.
And it was. There was action left and right, page after page.
In all fairness I think because I jumped into this series I had no idea who anyone was or why I should care about them. There are so many characters I just couldn’t keep them all straight.
So I think I would like this book if I had started from the beginning but because of jumping in where I did I easily could walk away from it and feel no attachment. I would say start with the beginning if this series.
A copy of this book was given to me through Netgalley.com. All opinions are my own.
