Thanks to netgalley.com and Serial Box for the advance copy for my honest review.
"Fault Lines", is the ninth installment of a series that, will total 11 episodes, that makes up False Idol, Season 1 and the author varies with each episode.
Just find that this should have been end game, due to I'd think that the security guard Mackey would be doing surveillance or keeping an eye out for Layla. Especially after the earthquake, the Rothkopf gallery has no power, meaning the security system and camera's aren't work and suspects she stole the keys.
erTo me with the storyline it's plausible that Mackey doesn't suspect her or neither Rothkopf knows. Regardless if the author doesn't mention it, as a read you can't ignore that and the whole sequence of the IT guy getting caught stealing and killed by Mackey doesn't work.
It's like the author realized he messed up, since no way your not thinking that Mackey isn't in the building and writes in the IT guy to save Layla. Yet as an FBI agent even as a interpreter, she know's how to fire a gun, be more realistic to have her kill Mackey verse the way it's written.
After an earthquake hits Cairo and knocks out power to the neighborhood around the Rothkopfs gallery, Layla decides to use the pass key she lifted from the gallery’s IT worker to gain access and do some searching. Unfortunately, Layla witnesses something unexpected during her visit and turns to Pierce for advice at the new safe house.
The next day while Pierce is called to the US embassy to discuss the search that occurred by Ghaffar of the original safe house, Layla answers a call notifying her that the shipment to the US was not bomb related. Layla starts her own search to figure out what happened to the material.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher, Serial Box, for the opportunity to read this ARC.
Layla seems to have a guardian angel looking out for her because she manages a daring escape from the Egyptian government. After a minor earthquake hits the city, most of the power is knocked out of some of the cities business. Including the art gallery of the Rothkopfs. Layla uses the keys she found left behind by the IT employee and sneaks into the gallery. Thinking she is alone, she begins to look for more incrimination evidence for her case. She soon realizes she is not alone and witnesses something that will shake her to her very core.
