The Rules of Rebellion is a light, cute and sweet story with very likable characters. I really enjoy reading it and I can't get enough of Kylie and Leo. Kylie is now in a senior year and she decided to make a list of what she wants to do in her life and then came Leo, which he suggested to Kylie to add 'the first date' and she agreed with it.
It is a cute, quick read that put a smile on my face for the entire reads. It was told in alternating POV so when we can get enough from both sides of the characters. It is an enjoyable reading I have.
4.5 stars
I loved this story. It was cute and the characters were amazing.
It was a quick read and as a reader I didn’t quite like a few things about the book. How readers are “portrayed” and whatnot but that aside, I loved the characters and the hobbies of a certain character. ;)
I rated this 4/5 because of the thing I’ve mentioned above, i didn’t like how they kept portraying readers and how a few characters acted.
This is a cute little romance with a few deeper themes involving bullying and sexual harassment that gives it some teeth. I found it to be a quick read with likeable main characters. The important messages contained within were bonuses. Recommended for a beach or rainy day read.
Aww this book is so sweet. Ha Ha I dont know how else to describe how much I enjoyed this book. The characters I love. I couldnt find anything wrong with them if I tried. I understood both points of view. This story is told from Leo and Kylie.
Kylie is now a senior and does everything by the book and never breaks the rules. Then her younger sister points out that she is boring and has no life. And said how their older sisters had more fun. So Kylie starts thinking hmm I bet I can have fun. So she makes a secret list of things she wants to do for the rest of senior year. However she loses the pink slip of paper and Leo finds it. Leo is such a great guy. He holds her secret for her and offers to help her out with the list. Leo thinks I finally can hang out with my crush. So not give any spoilers away but believe me its a fun list to be had and it was fun watching these two come together. Oh please make another book with these two. I feel their story isn't over yet.
This was a fun and clean read. The characters were very likable and the plot kept you reading. Great for a sort of "refresh" between some more intense reads.
Super sweet book! Very quick and adorable ;) Loved all of the main characters SO MUCH!!! Would easily recommend this book!
I love Entangled teen so much. This was such a fun story. All of the characters were fun to get to know and really grew throughout the whole book. I really recommend this to anyone who loves fun romances.
Kylie makes a high school bucket list after her baby sister tells her she needs a life. Only she loses the list. Leo finds a list written by Kylie, who he has liked forever. This list gives him enough courage to ask her out, kinda. By making her list a reality.
Kylie is the middle child, and her parents are a little on the strict side. Which is why she has never pushed the limits. She loves to bake and makes lots of treats for her friends to try out. She is also feeling a little lonely since her besties all got boyfriends now. This is a common problem in high school and I like how she makes a list to overcome it instead of wallowing in self-pity. She is extremely relatable in not wanting to rock the boat, and being the friendly one in the group. Leo is adorable and his secret is not much of a secret as in it really isn’t his fault. I love his interest in art and his abilities to overcome his parents being well the way he is.
The history between the two families is the secret, although Kylie knew nothing of it. How her parents handle things is interesting and his parent’s reaction was pretty spot on as well. More importantly is how Leo handles everything and his take on the situation. Talk about mature. He truly is a gentleman.
This is a cute read that you can finish in a few short hours. It brings all the feels and leaves you with a smile on your face. The characters and the situations that they are in are extremely likeable. I liked it so much I ended up one clicking the other one in the series.
My Rating 4 out of 5 stars

The rules of rebellion is a light heart, funny read that doesn't take itself too seriously. Leo's awkward pursual of his BFF Kylie is funny, faulted and sweet. Makes a great quick pool side read and perfect for pre-teens.
Give me sweet romantic any day! This was so cute. I loved the bucket list. Kylie was definitely the more outgoing, and Leo the more romantic. But they fit together so perfectly. It was so perfect. Amity Hope is an amazing author. Loved!
I requested this book through NetGalley. This is my honest, voluntary review.

I so enjoyed this book. The plot, the romance, the pacing. Everything about it was just wonderful to me. I liked seeing how everything evolved and I was angry (in a good way) and how the main conflict played out. If you want a good contemporary romance novel with a bit of angst, this is the book for you.
I loved Leo and Kylie's evolution from friends to more. I liked how they became more comfortable with each other and seeing each of them break out of their comfort zone. And it wasn't like they did it only because of each other - they did it because they wanted to, but were able to because of the other.
I would have liked a bit more from the female friendships and the sister relationships but they were still satisfying. I liked how everyone became closer even though Kylie was spending more time with Leo rather than drifting apart as usually is the case in books like this. It was nice to see everyone supporting branching out to having new relationships rather than being "disappointed" that they couldn't spend time together anymore.
I will say though that it was a little too straight for my liking. And I take issue with the fact that Kylie is described - both in the description and in the book - as being a little bit bigger but the cover has a very thin girl on it. It would be nice to have more fat representation that way. I know that it isn't the author's choice but I thought I would mention it anyway.
But it was super cute. I loved the conclusion and how it all came about. This is one of those books that resonates with you on every level and I definitely recommend it if you're a fan of contemporary romance novels.
I loved this book!!! It was so good and kept me turning pages. This author always turns out five star reads for me.
Rules of Rebellion by Amity Hope is a contemporary YA novel about two friends, Leo Zimmerman and Kylie Jenkins, who are about to let loose and be a little rebellious while realizing they may be more than just friends.
Leo Zimmerman has been crushing on Kylie Jenkins since the fifth grade and now that they are in their senior year of high school he is not any closer to finding the nerve to ask her out even though they've become friends with their best friends, Luke and Meg, dating. So, when Kylie comes up with a "Senior Checklist" of things she wants to do break out of her shell, Leo volunteers to do them with her.
Kylie Jenkins is tired of hearing from her sister that her life is boring and it doesn't help that her parents are way overprotective. After listening to her sister, Allie, tell her how boring her life was and how she has not had a boyfriend yet, she writes down a list of things she'd want to do as a way to blow off steam. Not realizing that soon enough, she'd actually be doing them…with a little help.
I enjoyed Rules of Rebellion. Ms. Hope really let these characters shine and showed you their vulnerabilities and sensitive sides right off the bat. It really made it easy to become interested in these characters and their story as they slowly progressed from friends to falling more in love. The little adventures they go on as they began checking items on the list was great. The only thing that kept this from being perfect for me was how the conflict was interwoven into the story. It didn't entirely work for me though it is hard to describe why without giving too much away.
Overall though, Rules of Rebellion by Amity Hope is a great romance about falling in love, being yourself, and being rebellious…in a good way. I happily recommend.
(I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book I received for free from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)
This is the first YA book I’ve read in ages and I have to say from the off that I really enjoyed it. The story centers around Leo and Kylie who have been friends for awhile. Leo has been harboring a crush on Kylie for years and finally sees a chance to get close to her when he discovers a list of things Kylie wants to do before the end of senior year.
I liked both our main characters, and I connected to Kylie really easily, she reminded me a lot of what I was like as a teenager, very bookish and not one to break the rules. I thought Leo was endearing, the secret that he is keeping from Kylie is a biggie and I completely understand his hesitation to tell her.
The story itself is very well written and it flowed really nicely. The pacing of the Kylie and Leo becoming more than just friends was done just right. I thought both of their characters well developed and wholesome. I would like to read books from Kylie’s sister’s perspectives as I think their stories would be really interesting to read.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it’s definitely a must read if you enjoy friends to lovers type stories.
Kylie is the good girl and her parent's restrictive rules have never fazed her, until her younger sister makes her question her be good and go along with the flow attitude. Kylie creates a list of rebellions she wants to accomplish, to help her feel more alive. She has always crushed on a guy from afar, but when another guy finds her list and wants to help, she may be overcoming her crush. Will Kylie lose who she is, or will she grow into a mixture of old and new?
I had difficulty remembering many of the major plot points in this novel (oops). The story wasn't overly edgy or anything really. I thought that the most compelling parts of this novel were the hobbies both of the main characters had. It is certainly a solid romance book, but I don't know if it has distinguished itself from others of its kind enough for me to remember it.
4 Fun Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟
This was just a fun clean read.... kylie is every parents dream child and every younger sisters worst nightmare.... after continual badgering from Little Sister for being such a goody goody.... Kylie decides to come up with a list of rebellious acts she wants to commit during her senior year.... topping her list skinny-dipping, but not really....
Kylie was such a real and extremely likable character.... someone you would have loved to be friends with in high school, especially because she brought yummy treats for you to taste test(She wanted to make candy after graduation).... actually more important than that she was just a kind caring person.... Leo fines Kylie‘s list and decides to ask her if he can help her out with it.... because he has had a crush on her forever.... Leo was a good guy... the kind of guy you would absolutely love your daughter to date ....the problem though is Kylie’s not allowed to date....
So Kylie and Leo sneak around and of course get caught, but things are even more complicated than that....
It was interesting how different Kylie and Leo’s parents parenting styles were.... although both sets of parents love their children.... I might have analyzed it a bit and thought what I would have done in the situation... but as I know every child is different and every situation is different and just because something worked for me doesn’t mean it’s going to work for somebody else....
Strongly recommend when you’re just in the mood for a good clean read and if you aren’t a young adult it’s a bit nostalgic....

leo zimmerman has had a crush on kylie jenkins since forever. so when she decides to break free of her good girl shell and needs a friend to go along with it, he decides that he's the right man for the job. not that leo is a bad boy. the rules of rebellion are written by two good kids.
he's actually more dreamy artist than rebel without a cause. but he is more tuned into what high schoolers do given that his parents offer little to no supervision. as leo and kylie spend more time together, attraction blooms. only when leo realizes exactly who kylie's family is and how they are all connected, he starts keeping a very big secret.
he has his reasons. but it does also make a big thing a very big bad thing. because there are two things instead of just the one. but leo is so afraid to lose it all because being with kylie is the culmination of every dream come true.
but it's not unforgivable. they have a way of coming back from things because leo and kylie just fit together.
**the rules of rebellion published on april 2, 2018. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/entangled publishing (entangled teen) in exchange for my honest review.
This was such a cute, sweet book about good kids getting up to some pretty tame trouble together. I thought Leo's parents read a bit like caricatures of Unsupportive Parents, but liked Kylie's relationship with her own parents (and Leo's interactions with them, as well). I also enjoyed how Kylie and Leo's relationship developed over time. I felt that Kylie's own passions for baking and candy making get lost in the book, and we spent a lot of time on Leo's art, which was disappointing.
Received in exchange for a honest review.
what happens when you take the straightlaced girl who gets egged on by her sister and the sweet boy who is overlooked and treated like a disappointment at home and give them a to do list? You get this highly entertaining book by Amity HOpe.
Leo is the sweetest guy. He is kind of stuck thought. His parents have raised 3 before him and are ready to see him off to college. They also find him to be a disappointment and want him more like his jerk of an older brother. He is overlooked by so many but by his friends he is the nice guy. The one there for everyone. He is also the one crushing on Kylie since middle school.
Kylie is the smart girl who doesn’t break the rules. Her older sister had something bad happen to her and since than the parents are a wee bit overprotective. Suddenly her younger sister has gotten under her skin with her taunts and she has created a rebellion list of things to do. She has been crushing on someone that isn’t Leo and Leo sees this and stays in the background.
Now though he sees a chance to show Kylie who he is and to help her gets firsts at the same time.. When he finds her list and becomes her list doer with her.
The time they have together as they do her list is fun and sweet. We see just how nice and adorable Leo is. He is so easygoing. that is until he finds out what happened to Kylie’s sister and than he is scared. he doesn’t want to brushed under the stroke of his brother and doesn’t know if he will be. Kylie keeps him as her secret and it hurts him up to the point where he becomes scared. Once this occurs it seems things change. He is scared and she is wondering what is going on. When it comes out, Kylie does get really really angry and does just what he feared. Poor guy although his sister did warn him. But to me this is when Leo really shined for once he got out of his sad funk he took action and boy did he do great with that. He stood up to his parents and had them see who he really is and even confronted Kylie’s parents. He found his voice and that was great. The ending was precious and overall the book was just sweet and entertaining. The only character you really don’t like is Leo’s older brother and that is because he was a jerk. A fun sweet book.
