Kylie has always played it safe both in her life experiences and relationships. When she decides to try some new things before she graduates high school, her friend Leo offers to help.
What Kylie doesn't realize is that Leo has had a crush on her for years, and the list gives him a reason to spend time with her.
I liked the progression of their relationship, and that they seemed to build on their friendship in addition to their romantic feelings for each other. This made the plot feel more realistic, especially as they supported and encouraged each other's dreams and hobbies.
This is the second book set in this friend group but can be read as a standalone. I have not read the first one, but am looking forward to checking it out.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC for an honest review.
I received The Rules of Rebellion by Amity Hope from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. It does not impact my review.
I liked The Rules of Rebellion much better than the last Crush book I read and most people should know I do like these books. They are usually quick, easy reads for me.
The Rules of Rebellion met my expectations. You don't have to read the other books in this series to know what is going on, but Luke and Meg do appear in this book so if you read this book first you will want to have the first book on hand right away. I liked how this book kind of had similar elements to the first one with the rebellion and the artist, but they weren't exactly the same. Kylie had a bucket list and on her bucket list she wanted to cause some trouble to make her life seem more interesting. Leo was a baseball player, but what he liked to do was to turn stuff into artwork.
I liked Leo very much too.
The romance between the two was believable to me. I liked all of the side characters and I liked how the characters grew in this book. The Rules of Rebellion is a four out of five star read.
For the most part this was a sweet little YA romance. While the tension and plot were slightly underwhelming at times, the characters were likeable and the writing was solid.
A quick fun read.
I received this ebook from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. I loved this book. I love the idea of a bucket list and I am so glad it was included in this book! Leo is such a great character and I'm so glad that everything worked out for them.
