Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this book early.
If you have a unicorn lovers in your house, this would be great to get them to try new things. Or if you are planning a unicorn/fantasy themed party, you need this book.
This book looks quite adorable but my kindle can't support the type of file this is! sorry!
I was looking for a recipe book that included unicorn ideas. This was the perfect book for that. Every recipe has a detailed picture of what it should look like. I was surprised to find some really great ideas on how to color the food in the recipes with natural foods and not dyes.
This book looked amazing due to the cover image of the gorgeous unicorn cake which looked amazing!
Packed with rainbow coloured, cosmic fantasy inspired foods that are eye catching and arty but super simple to create and bake for yourself thankfully with little fuss either in my opinion.
Each recipient idea is beautifully pictured along with a list of ingredients required and listed steps for you to follow along to easily. It doesn't matter what your skill level is as there's recipes anyone can do and with practice hopefully your bakes will improve too!
Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!
Unicorn Food: Natural Recipes for Edible Rainbows is everything that your colorful food eating self could ever desire. The aim is to eat a rainbow, but a healthy one. These recipes are both balanced and colorful and will delight your eyes as well as your taste buds. There are ways to make natural food coloring using cabbage, blueberry juice, tumeric, spinach, etc. I'm not exactly sure how these will end up making foods that taste delicious, but I'll keep reading...
OK so all of these recipes have pictures to go along with them (yaaay!) and look AMAAAAAAAAAZING. I don't know if I could ever actually make any of them (and if I did I'd probably use regular food coloring even though it is probably terrible for me) but omg. Rainbow sushi? pancakes? cheesecake? I will take them all, please and thank you.
If you are as on the unicorn train as I am, you're not going to want to miss this book. Even if you just want to look at the pretty pictures and not actually end up making anything, it's worth checking out.
I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review, I was not otherwise compensated.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers and the author for this review copy. Unfortunately, I was unable to see the pictures in the review copy as they wouldn't download properly. The book though, does look a lovely book. It gives instructions how to make the different colours for things without using typical food colourings which are full of E numbers!! For example, red could be made by adding beetroot etc. I would love to see the pictures because I imagine the food to look wonderful in unicorn colours, so will definitely be keeping an eye out for this book when it is released!
This is a lovely book for anyone that loves Unicorns and Rainbows. It has lots of recipes from cakes, toasties, drinks and smoothies in all the colours of the rainbow! It shows you how to use natural ingredients to colour your creations. It's a really lovely book!
5 stars to Unicorn Food! 🦄 🌈 🦄
Unicorn Food is a big trend of late with rainbow-colored drinks to radiant smoothie bowls, cakes, and bite-sized desserts. Plus, it’s fun for adults and super engaging for kids.
The idea is that the foods should be healthful and over-the-top visually appealing. Unicorn Food offers many vibrant foods using natural food dyes. There are plenty of sweets included using sugar, so not all recipes are necessarily beneficial; but everyone needs desserts once in a while, and this is clearly a book meant for entertaining!
I think if you were planning a party for a child with a unicorn theme, you would be thrilled to come across all the ideas in this book. Likewise, I could potentially see an adult party or shower incorporating some unicorn foods. Huge kudos to the photographer for stunning photos of every recipe, perfectly suited to this type of cookbook.
Overall, Unicorn Food achieves what it is designed to do- to provide a variety of unique, vivid, delicious recipes, perfectly suited for the enjoyment of kids and adults alike!
Thank you to Sandra Mahut, Quarto/Quarry Publishing, and Netgalley for the copy.
The book offers whole range of beautiful desserts, perfect for any birthday party straight out of a fairy tale! The only thing the inside of the book can be compared to is the explosion of colours. The book includes recipes for birthday cakes, cookies, smoothies and lots more! Perfect for all the princesses out there!
UNICORN FOOD is an interesting twist on a standard cookbook, showing ways to naturally color foods to make them look extremely creative and colorful, definitely playing into the current trend of rainbow and unicorn EVERYTHING that is all the rage right now, as well as the more natural way of eating. Unfortunately, I felt the book was somewhat misleading, as when I think of natural food, I'm prone more to thinking of a vegeterian or vegan tendency toward the cooking, and this was merely about natural food coloring. Would I give this as a gift to a friend with a unicorn obsessed kid? Absolutely...I'd even use it myself in some cases. But overall, I'm not 100% sure it offers anything that another cookbook couldn't offer. So it gets 3 stars.
File was not entirely view-able; a few pages of text and no images.
Great concept, and love that natural food color agents are encouraged. Unable to completely view, so unable to completely review. But love the idea.
