I enjoyed the Scottish history and imagery. Otherwise, it was too much romance for my liking. I don't think I'll be enticed back for another volume.

My Thoughts:

This is a tale filled with historical and religious facts of the times.
Unfortunately I prefer my books with less religion and more romance. Although well written this just wasn't my cup of tea.
I have this book 3.75 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and a low sensual rating of 2 of 5 flames. There are hints toward intimacy but nothing actually happens on the pages.
This book was previously published in 2016 but I received my copy via NetGalley to read.
This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

I usually enjoy books about the Middle Ages, but this book had too much physical contact and testosterone for a “Christian” book, it made for very uncomfortable reading! It would have been better to stick to the story about a clans family life in the 1500s!
The book is about “Gavin”, the third son of a Scottish lord, who comes back home to Scotland after fighting Native Americans and exploring America. He tries to get back into a relationship with his former girlfriend who was pregnant when he left her. She, however, is engaged to someone else, she is having problems with her teenage son, and wants to be left alone.
You may enjoy reading about family strife, animal attacks and abuse in the 15th century, so read on if you desire.

Not usually my cup of tea, but I found myself enjoying this one. It is pretty cliche but I found it overall enjoyable to read.

A Highland Ruby Is such a heart pounding romance. What Ms. Taylor has done here in this historical story has been all but amazing. The book is wonderfully historical of the 1513's in Scotland and all of their codes of honor. Poor Flora to have lost 2 loves to fight in another country. She is now with 2 children - and you shall be surprised - just sayin'. One leaves comes back and wants to reclaim what was his but he has changed, now a Christian relying on GOD and personally he's changed. Will he get what he wants? He wants his love and his son. Or will he bow to the clan and the code? Will Flora give in to her heart or will she follow through with the arranged marriage between the 2 clans? Will true love win out? With GOD in the middle will you know what will happen?
