The only plus side to reading this was it was short.
I found it to be disjointed with no real character building.
It was a good idea but needed more back ground to the characters and world
Not for me.
Author V.J. Deanes concocted a frightening yet credible storyline in the not-too-distant future. Illegal cloning of humans had taken hold within a clandestine community. Tensions flared as fuel was added to the fire by a group set dead against the clone community. They were intent on ending their place in humanity at any cost. The Narrative cast a dark shadow on an endless array of action sequences that took many twists and turns. The characters though well-placed might have been better developed. The subtle ending left me asking for more.
Human cloning was the perfect solution for many couples who couldn't have children of their own. Many could not afford or qualify for adoption. This set the stage for the first of the illegal staging areas for human cloning. It was nestled in the small town of Hadley's Crossing. A clone community.
The year is 2029. Twenty-three-year-old Kalan Mars is being hunted by a vigilante group known as the Society for the Elimination of Artificial People (SEAP). They believe that he's a clone - an abomination to society. An unsuccessful attempt was made on his life. He may not be so lucky a second time around. Now he's a fugitive on the run.
The ultimate goal for the research group behind this madness was to be able to connect the human brain to the Internet. Money and power would be theirs for the taking. Blinded by their own genius, they could not see the end coming.
received a free copy of Dawn of Affinity by V.J. Deanes in exchange for an honest review. This appears to be an attempt to merge a story from BladeRunner/Orphan Black/Sixth Day with Terminator. The book begins with little to no attempt to introduce characters outside of a brief flashback to a bullying episode. It dumps you into the action told from many different viewpoints: terrorists, a mercenary, some scientists, some robots, etc. The story cycles rapidly between the viewpoints without much transition.

I enjoyed reading"Dawn of Affinity" by V.J. Deanes. I liked all the characters in the story. The descriptions of the situation which the hero Kalan is a part of in the story are well written. The plot-lines were interesting. The development and the evolution of the main and supporting characters were done well. The human element was ever present in a society with robots, clones and humanesque heroes and villains. I found that the ending of this story was perfect. A great read and you will not be disappointed.
