I enjoyed the actual book and had a lot of fun with it! I definitely recommend if you like humorous type young adult books.

I enjoyed this preview of Undead Girl Gang. The premise of teens dabbling in Magic is a popular one and this story is a fun read as Mila raises her best friend from the grave to solve her murder. In fact she brings back 3 girls but has a hard time controlling them since they all have unfinished business. With time running out she needs to find the serial killer before he strikes again. The languid a little strop for a teen book but I’m sure they have hear it before. Looking forward to finishing the story.

Three and a half stars: An unexpected tale of dead girls and a witch determined to find the truth. Quirky and funny.

Mila is furious at the world. She is convinced that her best friend, Riley, would not have killed herself like June and Dayton did last week. The case is closed and everyone believes that three girls participated in a suicide pact. Riley doesn’t believe it for a second because Riley wouldn’t have been caught dead hanging out with Dayton and June, the resident mean girls. When a dark grimoire that Riley ordered before her death shows up, Mila seizes her chance. She wields a dark spell meant to bring back Riley, but somehow she manages to raise June and Dayton as well. Mila and the dead girls have one week to figure out what happened to them and why. Will they solve the mystery?
What I Liked:
*The Undead Girl Gang was an unexpected surprise. I picked this up expecting zombies, mean girls but what I got was so much more. This was a quirky, funny story with many surprising turns and a few laughs. A fun read.
*Mila is one fierce girl. She is a plump, Latina girl who dabbles in Wicca thanks to her best friend Riley. She has attitude and she doesn’t let anyone run her around. I rather enjoyed her sass and her no bullshit attitude.
*June and Dayton, the town mean girls recently raised from the dead, surprised me. At first, they come back as the same self centered girls. They even go so far as to yell at some fo their classmates for talking ill of them after their deaths. However the girls undergo a surprising transformation along the way, and I am not talking from grotesque zombie like girls to normal looking ones. They learn a thing or two and become likable. I was surprised at how much I ended up liking them by the end, which I wasn’t expecting to do.
*I enjoyed the mystery. I thought once the girls returned from the dead, they would have all the answers. Not so easy as all three of them have no recollection of their deaths or what happened to them. Thus, it was left to Mila to try an unravel who killed them. There are several suspects, motives and some surprising twists. I have to say, when all was revealed, I didn’t see it coming.
*The whole zombie thing was fun. The girls return mostly like themselves, expect once they are more than a hundred steps from Mila, they turn into gross looking corpses. No brain munching or weirdness. I liked that.
*I liked that there was humor and quirkiness in this one. It isn’t your regular zombie book.
*The ending was satisfying. The mystery is done up, and the loose ends are tied off. I was pleased with the way it settled out, and glad that Mila ended up in a better place than she started.
And The Not So Much:
*Don’t expect this to be even remotely realistic. The explanations for how and why the girls return are sparse and you have to suspend rational beliefs. Just go in and have fun.
*I wasn’t a fan of the school psychologist. She comes across as creepy.
*I didn’t like that the girls often resorted to shoplifting.

The Undead Girl Gang isn’t a book that blew me away, but it was still a fun time. I enjoyed the characters, the mystery and the humor. I was pleasantly surprised by the metamorphosis of some of the characters. This is a book that is just for fun. Read it if you want to be entertained.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own, and I was not compensated for this review.

Teen Wicca Mila Flores is a witch with an attitude. And she doesn't let anything stand in her way. She's feisty, fearless, with a razor-sharp wit and a sardonic style. She gets caught up in the suspicious deaths of three classmates at Fairmont Academy. Two are mean girls but the third is her bestie Riley. There''s talk of a suicide pact but Mila doesn't believe a word of it. Mila decides to prove her theory by coming up with incontrovertible facts. She'll simply bring the girls back to life and ask them what happened. She uses a book of spells and voila--the girls are back in the land of the living, but only for a short time. Terrific pacing, clever dialogue and a roller-coaster of a plot make this book a sheer delight. Highly recommend.

I've only read a sampler, but it was enough to make me preorder the book!

YA with snarky characters is kinda my thing, so I adored Mila. I'm not terribly familiar with Wicca, but I found it explained well enough that I didn't feel lost. While Mila has a bit of that "bad girl don't care" attitude (and Doc Martens!), her love for her best friend Riley was lovely to read.

I'm very much looking forward to reading the full book!

I love Lily Anderson's books. She's a great person to follow and check out online as well. I read and LOVED her previous books, The Only Thing Worse Than Me Is You and Not Now, Not Ever. I was MAJOR ::sadface:: when I didn't get approved for Undead Girl Gang, only the sneak peak.

I really really wanted to read the sneak peak but I also really didn't because I wouldn't be able to continue it right away but I couldn't get rid of the sneak peak out either. Feel me?

I finished my slog of a book yesterday and wanted something short, quick, and that I knew I'd love. Guess what I read?!

It is even better than her other two books. I love Mila. I love what I saw of her best friend and her crush. I love the mystery and wicca information. And that last scene and last line included in this excerpt? TO DIE FOR. SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

For what this was (dark, satirical comedy YA horror), it was freaking perfect. I listened to it performed by Rebecca Soler on audio and I was just riveted. It's so funny, and actually a really interesting mystery too, that I didn't predict until right before it happened...

Buffy meets Heathers meets The Craft.

Loved.

I got a sneak peak, so my rating is based on that.
Undeadgirl Gang is a book I'm waiting a long time to read, and I wasn't disappointed with this sampler. I really liked what I saw, specially the protagonist, Mila really got to me and she sounds like the type of character that I really like. So I'm excited to read the whole book. Would - and will - recommend to everyone I can.

Thank you to the Pulisher, the Author, and NetGalley for giving me a sneak peek at this book in exchange for my candid review.

A fascinating premise for a book. Three high school students die in the space of 2 days. The coroner reports them as suicides, but MIla, the best friend of one of the dead girls suspects that they were murdered. And since she is a Wiccan, or witch, she decides to bring her best friend back to life in order to solve the mystery.

I thought that it was a strong beginning and will be purchasing the book so that I can find out how the story goes.

This book will appeal to young adults, teens, and anyone who loves a great, quirky dark arts book.

I didn't realize that this was a sneak peek before requesting it. But I immensely enjoyed the initial chapters. Hope to read the full book soon :)

This read starts out with us meeting a Wiccan teenager, Mila. Mila reminds me a lot of myself, besides the Wiccan part, when I was a teen. She has the bad attitude, cares not what you think, Doc Martens, and maybe a few pounds she could stand to lose here and there. Yet, her ability to not care is exactly what she needs in this story as it unfolds. Her friendship with her best friend Riley is what gets her through her bad days. So, when she finds out that Riley has been killed along with another fellow classmate and what you could only label as "mean girl" June things start to change. Was it a suicide pact as everyone claims? Or is something darker at play? A spell is cast and Riley and June are able to be above the grave for seven days. Only problem is - they have no idea who, why, or how they died. A quest for truth and friendship even beyond the grave make this one a good read. I would recommend this to the YA audience and adults alike.

This is a hard one for me to review. There were parts where I didn't think I was going to bother finishing the book, and then it would get to a part that I couldn't put down. I definitely didn't see the ending coming so that's a plus. Once I took the book as a whole, it averaged out to three stars for me. I can't say that I'll run out to recommend it to people, but I would have no problem putting it on display in my section.

I was only granted a sneak peek of UNDEAD GIRL GANG by Lily Anderson, but boy oh boy do I need more! I was so disappointed when the file ended. I was already vested in the story and then no more pages. So not fair. I'm so in love with the cover as if I needed more of a reason to pick up my own copy.

The e-arc I received of this book was a partial arc, so I cannot review the full book. However, the sample that I was able to read id a good job of keeping up the suspense and keeping secrets from the reader, and had great Pagan representation (especially true to the teenage years when one is typically first discovering Wicca and the like).
I grew up reading well-known Pagan & Wiccan authors like Silver Ravenwolf and Cate Tiernan, and I definitely hope to see this book become as well-known as those.

I loved this book! It was fun and silly while tackling real issues that teen girls face. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will recommend to all my friends who like dark, fast-paced reads.

Funny & captivating, this sneak peek was enough to make me pre-order! I can't wait to catch up with these modern witches!

Sneakpeek: Undead Girl Gang by Lily Anderson. May 2108. Razorbill. Netgalley.

Amazon blurb: "A fun, fast read...it will resonate with readers who dabble in any sort of arts, dark or otherwise." --NPR.org

"With a singular and hilariously cutting teen voice, UNDEAD GIRL GANG is sure to be one of the most talked-about YA novels of the year." --BookPage

Veronica Mars meets The Craft when a teen girl investigates the suspicious deaths of three classmates and accidentally ends up bringing them back to life to form a hilariously unlikely--and unwilling--vigilante girl gang.

Meet teenage Wiccan Mila Flores, who truly could not care less what you think about her Doc Martens, her attitude, or her weight because she knows that, no matter what, her BFF Riley is right by her side. So when Riley and Fairmont Academy mean girls June Phelan-Park and Dayton Nesseth die under suspicious circumstances, Mila refuses to believe everyone's explanation that her BFF was involved in a suicide pact. Instead, armed with a tube of lip gloss and an ancient grimoire, Mila does the unthinkable to uncover the truth: she brings the girls back to life.

Unfortunately, Riley, June, and Dayton have no recollection of their murders. But they do have unfinished business to attend to. Now, with only seven days until the spell wears off and the girls return to their graves, Mila must wrangle the distracted group of undead teens and work fast to discover their murderer...before the killer strikes again.

My review: This was just a sneek peek into the story. The first few chapters really, but all things considered it sounds like a fabulous book. It is the story of Mila who lost her best friend recently amid a series of suicide pacts. She doesn’t believe Riley killed herself. She thinks she was murdered. Griefing, she goes to the old abandoned house that she and Riley used to practice witchcraft in. A book arrives on the porch with spells for everything, including how to bring her friend back from the grave. I’ve put this on my tbr list to finish where it goes.
