I loved this book! It was not a perfect romance, but it was fiery and insecure at times. I love that there were similarities between their insecurities, although they existed for different reasons. I also liked that there wasn't a ton of sports stuff, as I'm not really into sports but could still love the story.
This was my first book by Toni Aleo, and I must say that I LOVED it. This book had me laughing out loud on more then one occasion. I love the way Bo and Gus where with each other. The chemistry and banter between them was awesome and very believable. The book ended way too soon, would love to read more about Bo and Gus. Highly recommended.
Thank you Net-Galley, PR Company, Publisher and Author for the opportunity to read an ARC of this story. These are my thoughts on the story and no form of payment was received.
OMG I totally loved this story. This is my all time favorite of the Misadventures series so far and made it into my all time favorite reads of all time. I so didn't want the story to end. I was hooked from the get go and when I finished the book I was so sad to be done with the characters and the story. I would love more of these characters for sure.
Gus is a hockey player looking to make it to the NHL. He is cocky, he is hot and he is an awesome hockey player. He knows it and he shows it.
Bo is going to school to be a sports PT, she works as an Ice Girl and she wants nothing to do with hockey players. She really wants nothing to do with the cocky Gus, but as much as she fights him off, there is a chemistry there that she can't fight forever.
I love that this hockey book actually had hockey in it, not just a player. We get game action and that is one thing I look for in a sports romance, is that the sport is actually part of the book. This book gave me the feels. At times I was laughing at the antics of Gus, times I was really sad when we get to know more about the main characters and what they went through in life. There is some hot and steamy scenes. I figured out part of it really easy but it didn't take away from the story at all. I loved the secondary characters, the teammates of Gus and the other ice girls. I would love their stories.
I didn't love Bo's mom, I really wanted to smack her upside the head a few times.
Thank you for another great book! Like all the other Misadventures books this book is a standalone.
This title started off slowly, but soon gave way to a fiery relationship between Gus and Bo. This isn't the strongest in the misadventures series, but is a solid steamy hockey book.
I read an early copy of this title courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review
It took me a few chapters to get into this book as Gus was a bit too arrogant for me. But, once I got into it, I couldn't put it down! Loved the humor, sarcasm, and of course the chemistry! Would like to have another book to continue the story!

Started a little slow for me but once I could focus fully on Gus and Bo it picked up just like their relationship did. It was a good story for a quick Hockey fix book. I would love to see more of their story.
I recieved a copy of this book from netgalley for an honest review.
This is my first Toni Aleo book. It started out rough and almost didn’t want to finish the book but I am glad did. I have never read any books about sports and was hard to relate to hockey.
I really liked how Gus and Bo were together. You could tell that Bo was fighting an inner issue by being with Bo but in order to understand you had to see how their relationship grew. At first I hated the character Gus as he was so cocky and arrogant but grew to love him. This is a highly recommended story to read. I really enjoyed it.
This is my first Misadventures book. I have seen them floating around for a while now, and when I saw Toni Aleo was writing one AND it was a hockey book, I decided to give it a go. Toni writes the best hockey stories!
Gus ‘the Bus’ P is just got drafted to play for NHL team, The Tornadoes. Temporarily he’s playing for the Suns, a lower level team and that’s where he meets Bo, a PT student. There is a thin line between love and hate when it comes to Bo and Gus. Honestly, the first 25%+ is of them bickering and I ended up skimming a lot of that, but as the story went on, it did get better for me. I started to like Gus more, the more I got to know him and it’s obvious that he and Bo have major chemistry!
I love sports romance (hockey especially) and I love Toni Aleo’s writing. Although this wasn’t my favorite book of hers, it was still enjoyable for me overall and got better the more I read. I wish we would have had more of an epilogue, I think that would have made it all the better. Misadventures with a Rookie is a sexy and fun enemies to lovers story. Recommended to those who love sports romance and that trope!
Gus the Bus and Bo (who's full name I won't reveal) have such weird and funky names, it amused me. So I had to mention it first. To be honest, I didn't like Gus at first, and not in a He's a jerk but redeemable way. I really did not think I was ever going to warm up to him. All it takes is a fiery redhead to bring out a whole other side of him, though.
This was super funny. These two kind of have some bad luck and are injury prone! They have a ton of passion, too. Like whoa. It was electric! I haven't read anything by this author before but I definitely will in the future, as I really enjoyed this story.
4.5 Stars!
This book really surprised me. In the beginning, I actually thought this was going to be my first book of Toni Aleo's that I wasn't going to like. I've loved everything I have read by her to date, but I learned real quick that the Hero in this book was the exact type that I do not enjoy in my books. He's arrogant. He's a player. He thinks he's God's gifts to women and hockey and I was just as disgusted by it as our heroine was. If you start out feeling the same way...keep reading. Man did I do a 180 about Gus. By the end, he became one of my favorite types of Hero's.
The best thing about a womanizer is when they find the one woman to knock them off their feet. Gus became a new man the more time he spent with Bo. The more they were together, the more I fell in love with him right along with Bo. I am so glad I kept reading. What an amazing transformation he made as a man in love.
Bo... while I sneered right along with her in the beginning, I still thought she was way too bitter. After learning more about her situation in the last half of the book. I got it. This poor girl. She got screwed 10 ways from Sunday and I get it why she was so bitter. Be patient. Gus is good for her.
I don't always mention side characters but I got to mention Gus's parents. I loved them! I loved them almost as much as I loved our main characters. They were an awesome addition to this story. I really enjoyed this book.
ARC provided by NetGalley.
I normally really like this author, especially her hockey romances, but this one didn't work for me. A big part of it was the main characters. I disliked Gus from the start, he was just too cocky, his one and done philosophy for women made me want to thump his head like a melon. Bo wasn't much better, she came off as a raging bitch. Even as I guessed her secret, her bitchiness didn't seem justified. As the two of them got together I had a hard time buying into them as a couple, especially as they tried to keep it light. You knew one of them, would have a freak out about things, so when that happened it wasn't surprising, nor was how things were resolved.
If you like this author, definitely check this one out as it seems like I'm in the minority with my thoughts on the book.
We're with the Misadventures team once again, the newest being from Toni Aleo.
Misadventures with a Rookie, a sports romance, is the first work I've read by Toni Aleo but it won't be the last.
The reason for this is simple. From the minute Gus 'the Bus' Persson appears, my heart sped up. He is quite simply the man of everyone's dreams!
Bo and Gus, as one would expect, have some issues to overcome before finding their HEA. The first hurdle being that Bo hates Gus on sight, he's just too ...everything!
The ultimate dream that is Gus wins the chance to show the once betrayed Bo what it means to be loved. All she has to do is believe in him and, them.
I can't wait to delve into whatever the next Misadventure might be, especially if it's from this new-to-me author.
A well deserved 5 stars
Misadventures with a Rookie - Toni Aleo
Another wonderful story in the Misadventures series of standalones.
This one focussing on Gus Persson, awesome ice hockey rookie, looking for his big shot into the NHL. Gus is a total womaniser, with a one and done reputation that every player envies. Every player wants to be him and every Ice bunny wants him except for the one flame hair beauty who’s captured his eye.
Bo St James has her future all mapped out. Mind on her studies, her internship in physical therapy and no men.... they only cause heart ache and the biggest heartbreaker of them all, Gus Persson, is showing her a little too much attention. Well, not going to happen. Bo will hate him for his cocky attitude and his womanising ways and nothing will change that.
Witty, funny and emotionally charged in all the right places, this story delivers on every promise from the blurb to the final sentence. Toni Aleo has taken such wonderfully developed characters through a journey of self discovery, allowing the reader along for the ride. Loved this story and recommend it highly if you’re looking for a love story with real characters, this is the one.
Toni Aleo is a new author to me but I am not new to the Misadventures Series. Rookie is a totally different story than any of the others. I liked Gus and his carefree attitude from the beginning. I wasn't so sure about Bo as she just seemed a bit mean. I totally understood her not wanting anything to do with the hotshot hockey player but wasn't sure about her way of showing it. As the story moves on and you begin to get to know Bo and her past you realize she has been hurt tremendously. The 2 of them have a lot of walls to break down in order to begin to heal.
I'm not usually a fan of sports related books but the hockey was just back ground to give you details about the characters. I enjoyed this quick, easy read. Love that all the books are stand alone so you can read in any order. There were just enough surprises to keep you wanting more. I recommend this book and will be looking for more by the author.
I love a good sports romance and when I saw the Misadventures Series had one I knew I had to read it. The characters were easy to connect with I love how fierce and stubborn they are. I really enjoyed the humor of this book it made everything a little more lighthearted which helped to tame the very emotional secret that was hidden. The pace was done perfectly and I loved the depth the book had I felt a real connection with the story. I really love Toni’s writing style and this book made me remember why I love her books so much. Overall this was a great read which I finished in once sitting and I can’t wait to see what book the series has to offer next.
This is my first Toni Aleo hockey romance and I’m hooked. Misadventure of a Rookie was a fun filled romance that also tugged at your heart strings. Bo and Gus were a perfect match. I loved every minute of this. Ion and I didn’t want to put it down.
Oh how the mighty fall when they meet the right person and fall in love. I really liked this book.
Our mighty rookie in question, Gus Persson, is one heck of a player both on and off the ice. But then he sets his sights on Bo St. James, one of the ice girls who won’t even give him the time of day. She cuts him right down and it’s just awesome! She is a PT student who teaches skating and is also an ice girl to pay for her schooling. She is working very hard for what she wants and is very driven.
Such good writing! Lots of clever, witty and fun banter keeps this a nice light read. Toni Aleo also always manages to make me feel like I’m right on the ice with her players. I love that about her writing, she really knows her hockey!
Gus turns out to be this totally sweet, charming, and funny guy who will do anything for Bo. She is guarded but hopeful and trying to enjoy the time she has with Gus however long that may be.
Can they figure out how to make this work if Gus gets the call up to the NHL and has to move?
Will Bo finally let Gus all the way in and tell him why she is so guarded and allow herself trust him with her secrets and her heart?
I received an ARC from Netgalley and am voluntarily reviewing it.
Loved this book. Bo has a secret. Can Gus break her barriers. To teach her to love and trust herself.
Misadventures of a Rookie is a fun and sexy read. Bo and Gus will leave you in stitches at times. And other times will leave you fanning yourself. You feel the chemistry between them that Bo tries to her hardest to deny it. But the pull is too strong. I loved this book. You can't help but wonder what Bo is hiding but once everything comes to light you understand her reluctance at first to be with Gus. Gus is sexy, a tad cocky and hilarious all wrapped up in a rising Hockey player. Toni Aleo did an amazing job bring the sexy, the emotions and the humor into this Misadventures book.
