This has been my very first book from this author and can't say I'm surprised that I enjoyed this one. I can't compare this to her other books for obvious reasons but from what I've read, so far I like.

I loved most "Misadventures" series that I've read and I'm happy for the success of the series especially this added installment by Toni Aleo did not disappoint.

The story basically started off with Gus "The Bus" Persson who was drafted for the NHL Twin Cities Tornadoes but has to temporarily play for the affiliate of the team, the AHL Malibu Suns. He's not a fan of his situation, not until he came across the fiery ice girl, Bo.

Bo, our girl here, has been badly burned before. Despite that, she's hardworking and very determined to finish her studies. but from the moment their eyes collided, it seems that she can not shake off Gus no matter what she say.

Well, that's my guy there! I love the banter and chasing around no matter how long it took.

I enjoyed both of them especially Gus's character. Yes, he's comes across cocky to being arrogant but in all fairness to him, even with his man-whorish ways, he's not hard to like.

I love how the author maneuver his character from being a playboy to a seriously chasing a woman he can't shake off his mind.

I enjoy how their relationship played out, from the start until last.

I also love that the author features teenage pregnancy and being a single parent.

Bonus point for character depths and secondary characters. plus it's one of my favorite sports, so it's a win-win for me.

Not so angst-y for me, I can't say for others but there were scenes that tear-jerk-er but mostly hilarious and fun.

Gus and Bo have a love/hate relationship. She loathes and hates him and he loves to watch her move in her ice girl outfit. He is intrigued and tries to find out her name, along with other things. Bo is a tight-lipped person. She is aloof, secretive and really has no real friends. She has a history but no one in Malibu knows what it is. Gus is someone she perceives as having grown up with a silver spoon in his mouth and she hates him for it. Bo was burned in the past by a former boyfriend, who was also a hockey player and left her for the NHL. Gus really did nothing to cause such venom from Bo.

I am not a big fan of someone using their past to justify their terrible behavior to someone who was not only not the cause of it, they don't even know what happened. Bo was a 22-year-old book smart girl who really had a traumatic event take place. She didn't seem to really deal with it all that well. To say she had baggage was an understatement. When you learn what happened, you do feel some sympathy but, in the end, she was still responsible for her actions. Her mother was wrong to keep dragging her past up, but Bo needed to draw the line in the sand and stop allowing her past to define her.

Gus was basically a womanizer who found Bo, changed his ways and tried to figure out what happened to her to make her so bitter. He was a stand-up guy and I really did like his character. He put it on the line for her without hesitation when it counted. It was touching to see his relationship with his parents. He was a skilled hockey player on his way up. I did find his confidence to be refreshing and not loathsome.

I did like this book. I would definitely read more in this series. I was grateful to receive an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.

This was my first Misadventures book as well as the first book I’ve read by Toni Aleo. I’d have to give it 4 stars.

It’s started off a little iffy for me. Took me a few chapters to get in to the story. Mostly because Gus was too much an arrogant ass. After powering through those first few chapters, I couldn’t put the book down. It was very good and addiciting.

I enjoyed the banter between Bo and Gus. I liked how Bo didn’t give in to Gus from the very beginning.

One of the best parts? All scenes with Gus’s parents! They were a hoot! Loved them.

4.5 Stars This book was funny with a lot of dirty talking and steamy love scenes. Gus, a hockey player was a one night stand kind of guy until he met Bo, a spit fired red head who wasn't immediately charmed by his local fame or good looks. Bo, a in training sport PT thought Gus was too much like her ex that had left her heart broken. The word no is not in Gus's vocabulary so the chase is on to get Bo to date him. What follows is quite an adventure to their HEA. There are several twists and turns along the way to keep you turning the pages. Another well written and memorable addition to the "Misadventures" series.

This book started off kind of slow for me, and I had a bit of difficulty keeping up with it. Bo is in school and working multiple jobs to help better her life, which I think is commendable. Gus is a ladies man looking to move his way up into the NHL. When Bo meets Gus, a hit it and quit it kind of guy, she immediately lets him know they will never get together. Gus is cocky and arrogant and full of himself. Throughout the course of the story, his attitude and demeanor changes, making him far more likeable.

About half way through the book, the action picked up and the book became more engaging. I loved that while Gus continued to be playful and flirty, he had more depth to him as the book went on and I enjoyed reading about the times when he was more serious. And his parents were hilarious. His interactions with them on the phone kept me laughing.

Gus and Bo had great chemistry and their back and forth banter was fun. Overall this was an ok read for me, a little slow in the beginning, but I enjoyed the ending.

I have not read a book by Toni Aleo in quite awhile so I was excited to try out the Misadventures series by reading her book. It was an easy read, quick with some great moments of humor. It does not rank with my favorites of her titles as I did not really like the main characters and found that their relationship developed way too quickly. Still, I thought it was worth the read and reminded me of how much I miss Aleo's writing.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 stars.
This book started off a little rough for me. Mainly because Gus Persson- the rookie hockey player and star of this book appeared to be way too much of a cocky, arrogant, insensitive manwhore for me to ever really like him.
Boy was I glad that I just kept reading it anyway- as not only did Gus do a total 180 degrees in my eyes but I think I ended up liking him even more than the "fiery" Bo.
This book was my first ever read by Toni Aleo and not only did it live up to my expectations for this Misadventures series (I have read 5 of them already) but I liked the way this story unfolded and I also liked the author's writing style.
Ultimately, I found this to be a funny, entertaining, sweet and sexy read and my only regret for this book is I would have loved if the author had given me either an epilogue or a longer ending.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

This book! This book made me crazy! I freaking loved it. My favorite of the Misadventures series.
Meet Gus the Bus, hockey defenseman who thought he should have been with the NHL team who drafted him, only to find himself bumped down to the farm team. So Gus has something to prove. If he can keep his stick to himself long enough. He's bonked every girl in town, so pickings are slim.
Then he sets his eyes on an ice girl, he watches her and she acts like he doesn't exist. Bo, she has no time for hockey players, she's in Physical Therapy school getting ready to graduate, teaches skiing classes, is doing her internship and the thoughts of this jackass full of himself hockey player pushes all her buttons. Even the right ones. Gus corners her in a bar after a game and won't leave her alone and thus begins his relentless pursuit and her perpetual shut down. Bo has been burned bad. She's left her family back East for reasons only she knows and doesn't let Gus get close. Close means burned to Bo.
Throughout the book you see Bo's connection with her Mother and the phone calls. You see Gus really trying to woo Bo for lack of better word, enjoying himself by making up names for her. When the two of them finally burn the sheets it's incendiary.
This book was so different than any of the others I've read and I mean that in the best of ways. The characters are stellar, the plot has some twists that I can say I sure as hell didn't see coming and the flow and the writing are perfection. An absolute must read from Toni.
If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. One of the best books I've read this year.

I totally loved this book.
Bo was trying to stay clear of Gus due to being crushed by a former flame.
Gus kept pushing Bo until they finally came together.
A kept secret from Bo's past split them up and crushed Gus.
He wasn't going to let her go without a fight. Bo finally came to her senses and realized that Gus was nothing like her past and gave him a chance.

Bo is not going to be swept off her feet by hockey player, Gus "the bus" who has a reputation for being one and done. She has her priorities and that does not include being another notch in Gus' hockey stick. Gus can't get firey, red headed Bo out of his mind. He feels like he is drawn to her and is going to make her give him a chance. When the chance arises Gus manages to make a deal with Bo where she will go on a date with Gus. Will Bo be another one and done?

Great book and wonderful characters! I love the misadventures series!

Wow, when I first heard of this book, I was skeptical, I was not a fan of hockey and, I've never read Toni Also before. I will now. This book had my emotions going haywire, I laughed and cried right along with, Bo and Gus. I have this book 5 stars, more if I could, and highly recommend it to everyone, whether you are a fan of hockey or not. There is more to the story than just the sport.
I was given this book as an ARC from NetGalley in return for my honest review.

Toni Aleo brings us another hockey hunk to love. This is a stand alone novel from the a Misadventures series, each book is penned by a different author.
Bo is super smart and not looking for a hockey hookup. She's focused on school and making positive changes in her life.
Gus is hot on the ice and of. His normal mode is hit em and quit em, no seconds. The girls yet to come back for more and he doesn't budge. But when Bo shoots him down from his first attempt he's determined to figure out what really make her tick. They've got super hot chemistry, but Bo has issues with hockey players and secrets she's holding in deep. Now Gus has to find the kinks in her armor and figure out if he's willing to open himself up to more than just one and done.
This book had me laughing out loud at several parts. It's witty, with definite hot and some very heartfelt moments thrown in with some hockey too.

Just finished reading Misadventures of a Rookie as a ARC on Netgalley. I have to say that Toni did not disappoint me with how she can take something the is so common in the world and make it relate to the every day world.. Bo and Gus will have you laughing as will as crying and I know I was rooting for Gus to break down those barriers that Bo was dead set to keep up. I totally loved to story and think you will too.

I think this was the fastest I have ever read a book. When I say I couldn't put it down usually that means I did put it down to eat dinner, let the dogs out, whatever. I had Misadventures with a Rookie in my hands from the time I picked it up until I finished. I even ate my lunch while reading. I need to know who Toni Aleo is. I need to read more..

I am flabbergasted, enthralled, amazed. Rookie is EVERYTHING. I am so impressed I am having trouble finding words to explain it. Bo and Gus are it. They are the epitome of the perfect couple in my opinion. There is fire, lust, romance, comedy, the list goes on. I literally had chills while I was reading. The plot twist was so relatable.

Nothing about this novel felt forced or awkward. It just flowed and was absolutely seamless. It made me want more. I can't get enough.
