Gate76
I like Freddy Ferguson, he gets right to the point. He has a back story that is believable. Relatable. He has made choices that didn't all work out, a career and a wife. When he sees something not quite right, he becomes a puppy with a bone.
His job is to find answers to questions that haven't been asked. He sees a young blond woman, Anna Brook at the San Francisco airport with a strange looking man. So he is wondering why are they even together. The man leaves her as she goes through security. He also sees a janitor that has his eye on the woman too.
When she boards a plane to Hawaii the janitor calls someone to notify she is on the plane. But in a few minutes she runs back off the gangway, and changes her look, a wig, and new outfit an boards a flight to Chicago. Freddy recognized her when she heads for her new flight. Humm! Is the way he feels, why and how come?
The Hawaii flight blows up, and Freddy is hired by the airline company, to find out why. He tried to track down Anna Brook and does just that. A lot of the book had nothing to do with the air craft and the bombing. It was just memories from Feddy's past. Sounds like the will be more Feddy books in the future. I really hope so. He is one cool dude.
While this book in not a page turner, it keeps you interested in the Feddy Ferguson saga. I still have to do the dishes and fold the laundry. It easy to pick it up and get back to the heart and soul of the book.
Wait, wait it IS a page turner. Oh my goodness, I was so wrong. It was a hold my breath, biting my nails ending. Read this book and wait for the movie. Well done, Anthony Diamond!

Gate 76 is a good old-fashioned crime mystery. Not a "light read" by any means. Very well written, it has strong multiple characters and a complex plot with lots of twists and turns, and demands ones full attention.
This one deserves a strong 5 stars.

This was a nice tight thriller crime novel with a gritty 5os gumshoe book feel like the ones I snuck and read and weaned myself on in preteen times from my papaws library. The difference is the setting is modern but all the basics for the vices the same. Broken people in broken times, the good, the bad and the ugly. Definitely recommend if you want a good taste of the old noir but in a social setting more of the present.
This was a procedural that was a solid 4.5 stars raised to 5. Our hero, a former professional boxer, is a DC private detective. He sees a woman at the San Francisco airport that he is convinced needs help. He sees her go through boarding for one plane and then leave after everyone is boarded and go to another plane. When he gets back to DC he learns that the first plane crashed, killing everyone on board shortly after takeoff. Their firm is hired by the airline to look into the crash and his partner goes to San Francisco while he stays in DC to do his part. His investigation leads to Texas, FBI agents who aren’t what they appear to be, politics, drugs and murder. It is well plotted and the kind of novel you, the reader, shouldn’t begin reading in the evening. Even the characters are charismatic enough to are you want to learn more about them. Thanks to Net Galley and Stolen Time Press for an ARC for an honest review.
I enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it. The twists and turns kept me enthralled until the last page.
Reading Gate 76 took me back in time to the novels of Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett. The hero of the novel is Freddy Ferguson, a former boxer turned private investigator. The story is told in the first person by Freddy starting with him going through security at SFO and noticing a woman who appears to be being strong-armed onto a flight by a sketchy character. Freddy is a guy who gets premonitions and something about this woman definitely raises his antennae, especially when he sees her get back off the flight, change her appearance in a ladies room, and board a different flight. When a disaster happens next and Freddy is part of the investigation team hired to discover the cause, he just knows that he has to pursue this mystery woman to solve the case.
Gate 76 is a good old-fashioned mystery and a terrific book. Andrew Diamond develops strong characters, and I would definitely read future novels featuring Freddy Ferguson. The book is tightly written and fast moving. I would highly recommend to all mystery lovers.

This book grabbed my interest from the first chapter and kept it all the way through. As others have said in reviews there are numerous characters in this book and yes you require to concentrate on who is who.
Quite often I can second guess endings in books like this but not on this occasion.. Readi t cover to cover in three sittings and no hesitation in recommending.
We can only hope this GREAT work doesn't go "serial". Now if you are a "casual" reader (you read while doing something else) this book is not for you. It starts with a good looking woman, who then has bruises who then misses death, and just gets more complex. Multiple characters demands your full attention BUT YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! Great work great mystery
On the cover we see an airplane in the sky.
It all starts when a mysterious woman takes the wrong plane to flee an unknown terror and she disappears. Detective Ferguson is investigating this disappearance by thinking that she has witnessed a crime. The more he goes forward in this investigation, the more he will discover many things about the past of this famous unknown.
A captivating story I liked the pen of the author, the script.
Gate 76 is an example of a good "old-fashioned" murder mystery. Mr. Diamond created strong characters that are described so clearly that you can imagine yourself in the room with them. The same goes for the description of the locations, you can easily visualize the locales. There are many references to boxing, descriptions of boxing and the world surrounding it. The chapters are strong and you want to keep turning the pages to see where the story is going. A very good novel that I would not hesitate recommending.
This one one of the best books I have read all year!

Standing in line at the airport, waiting to go through security, is boring. Freddy’s eyes wander to the other travelers and settle on a young woman who seems out of place, nervous, stressed and intimidated by the tall man who grips her elbow. He didn’t realize it at that moment, but this scene would replay itself many times over in his mind as he puts together the pieces of the puzzle that surround the woman and the events that follow.
Gate 76 captured my imagination from the very first chapter. It is well written with excellent character development. I grew to love the main character, Detective Freddy Ferguson. Freddy was once an up-and-coming boxer who made some bad choices that ruined his boxing career. It left him with a keen sense of awareness, though, and an ability to read people and see through their outer actions to their inner intentions. It makes him very good at what he does now.
There is a great cast of support people at the precinct and highlights of Freddy’s boxing career and his loving relationship with his son, but the focus of the story is his never-give-up quest to get to the bottom of the mystery.
I received a free advance copy of this novel from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
I found this book to be a difficult read, but I made it through! There were too many characters to keep track of and I really didnt like the main character at timesz There were extra story lines that just seems to make it a confusing read. I think there’s a good story in there, but you have to weed through the extra sorry lines to find it.
2.5 stars
Thank you for the ARC copy.
This book starts off with a bang, literally. A plane bound for Hawaii explodes in flight. A mystery woman boards that plane but gets off the plane just before takeoff. A private investigator sees her. Thus begins the investigation into the explosion. Airline investigators and the FBI are tracing other leads but the private investigator is the only one following the mystery woman. Corruption at all levels is revealed. Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to review this book.
Gate 76 is the latest book by Andrew Diamond. Some edge of your seat moments while our hero follows the bread crumbs investigating an airplane crash. Looking forward to reading more by this author. I was given an early copy to review.
Gate 76 is a great read. It started out with a bang and kept me intrigued from the very beginning. There was only one thing I struggled with enjoying and that was the fact that it seemed to have a few too many characters which made it harder to keep up with all the details about midway through the book. Overall though I enjoyed it and will look into other books by this author.
After a very strong start, this book hopelessly morphs into a confusing story with way, way too many people in it for my liking. I've read a part on Saturday, and when I opened the book again on Sunday, I was completely lost and didn't know what it was all about, except for that very strong start.
So I'm very sorry to say but I gave up. Two starts because the story is there - somewhere.
Gate 76 is a fast moving story written by author Andrew Diamond. The overall plot is good, bit it is difficult to follow at times. Thanks to NetGalley and Stolen Time Press for the advance copy.
