As soon as I read the summary for Jamie McGuire’s latest novel, From Here to You, I *knew* I needed this book in my life. Romantic suspense is my jam, so this combination of a runaway bride, a secretive hero with a soft spot for the heroine, and the very present threat of danger is the juicy, angsty, swoony stuff of my dreams!

Maddox family reunion? Sort of.

From Here to You has some familiar faces and more stories to chase down. Jamie McGuire definitely wanted us to be teased, tranquilizer, and begging for more. I'm desperate for scraps even. From Here to You is a second chance, runaway bride, and all around sweet story.

It has some terrible circumstances but it is a truly wonderful story. A "perfect" love story. I'm just going to omit the details...that way you feel right at home.

Whether or not you are up to date on all things Maddox, you will definitely feel a need to be or find out more. So enjoy the visits from friends, love the sneak peeks, and hold your breath for more. Or breath but cross your fingers for more?! Yeah, that's seems more reasonable.

Jamie McGuire sucks readers into a heart-racing romance that proves love is worth fighting for. Darby Dixon learns she's pregnant on her wedding day, and still she finds the strength to walk away. At this point, I already loved this character because stepping into an unknown future for the sake of your safety and that of your unborn child takes much strength.

Darby lands a job in the same hotel where Trex is staying. Also new to town, Trex and Darby strike up a friendship that could be put in jeopardy is Darby ever learns the truth Trex is hiding from her. On the surface they are not perfect for each other, but as they open up about themselves the more impossible it is to not see that they belong together.

I love that over the course of the novel there is a wildfire raging out of control. There are many close calls for the brave firefighters that revolve in and out of the hotels so that adds a layer of anticipation throughout the story. There's a thread of suspense that follows Darby as she settles into her new life, because she may think she's escaped her abusive ex, but the threat of him popping up is always there. This novel will definitely put you through an emotional roller-coaster.

I never had a chance to read any stories featuring the Maddox brothers, except for Beautiful Disaster, and I see I've clearly missed a lot! This spinoff series is off to a fiery start and perfect for longtime Maddox Brothers fans, or those new to the fold. Jamie McGuire's stories are relatable, or downright entertaining, for any kind of reader!

I absolutely loved From Here to You by Jamie McGuire. This book follows the story of Trex and Darby. From Here to You is a story about finding yourself, moving on and finding love in the most unexpected places.

Darby finds out she is pregnant minutes before she is set to marry her abusive fiancee. She decides she doesn't want her child exposed to a violent household so she flees the ceremony before walking down the aisle. She leaves once he first train out of town and ends up in Colorado. She is able to find a job at a hotel in town and meets a very sweet and persistent man named Trex. She has no interest in a relationship as she just got out of a very bad one but she definitely enjoys Trex company.

Trex is in Colorado preparing to start a new job. He quickly notices the new gorgeous employee at the hotel he is staying at and would love to get to know her better. He can tell by the way she acts that she is hiding something but he doesn't push for any info. He tries to spend as much time with her as possible. He quickly realizes she is the woman in his dreams and will do whatever he has to do to make her see how special she is. Will these to be able to let go of their pasts and make a relationship work.

I loved the connection between Trex and Darby. The secondary characters added lots of depth to the storyline. It was fun to catch up with the Maddox boys and their spouses. I can't wait for the next book in this series!

I am a fan of Jamie McGuire however this story was not one of my favorites.
The story just seemed too far fetched to me and just not a close reality to what real life is like. Yes I understand there are men out there who will treat you like a queen but still, just to much "hoakiness" for my liking.

I had high hope for From Here to You. It is the first in a new series and that is always fun to read. Unfortunately, for me, this one didn't work very well. The book opens with Darby in the bathroom before her wedding confirming she is pregnant. Her fiance is abusive and she knows she needs to flee for herself and her baby. She ends up in Coloroda and gets a job as a hotel desk clerk. Trex has been searching for "the one" his whole life. One look at Darby and he knows she is it. It's too bad Darby has sworn off relationships.

I had a few issues with the book. The first being nothing happens for the majority of the book. It was pretty boring. It's only until the last quarter of the book that there is any real action. The scenes in the secret military installation that Trex works at were repetitive and added nothing to the story. Trex kept lying to Darby about completely unnecessary things. He works at a top secret job. All he had to tell her was his job was top secret and he was in security. But he lies to her constantly.

The other big issue I had were the amount of characters who seem to be a part of the Maddox Brothers' series. Seriously, if you are going to start a new series, don't put in a bunch of characters from another series and expect people not to be completely lost. I didn't read the Maddox series other them Beautiful Disaster. So, I had no frame of reference for a bunch of the events that happen or that were mentioned regarding the Maddox twin brothers. It seems that part of this book took place during two of the Maddox brothers' books. The whole thing was a mess and made the story feel disjointed and made me feel like I was missing a lot of back story. There were chunks of the middle part of the book that could have been left out and the story would have been better for it.

All of that being said, I did like Darby and Trex as characters. I had to admire Darby for her choice to run away. I also loved Trex's jumping into playing the dad role with all he had. I did like Trex's team. They were characters I hope get explored in other books. I'm just hoping that the story moves forward from this one and leaves the Maddoxs behind.

I find that From Here to You is a difficult story for me to review. This is the first book in the brand new Crash and Burn series from Jamie McGuire. This is actually a spin-off series of the Maddox Brothers books and this first book is about Trex and Darby.

First off, this is marketed as a standalone. To be honest, it stands alone okay which is probably my biggest knock for this book. There were a few parts in the book that were added in as a way to tie this book to the Maddox Brothers series, which is FINE (those of you who have managed to keep up with all things Maddox will appreciate this)... except I needed more to be able to fully follow. Or it needed left out completely. With that being said, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND reading Beautiful Burn before reading this book (as you can tell, I did not).

Aside from the portions of the book they tried to tie together, Trex and Darby were quite enjoyable. Seeing another strong heroine actually make good choices for herself and her unborn child is honestly a breath of fresh air. Darby is holding so true to that reality, she often pushes Trex away in the process. There was a lot of back an forth in this story due to the amount of secrets, especially with Trex. Trex was charming and stepped up to the plate when Darby needed him to which she expected him to run.

I could potentially continue this series, but again, I will probably shy away until I get caught up on the Maddox Brothers series so that I'm able to review this new series completely honestly.

Great Romance. The main characters make you want to fall in love.

*Spoilers**

Darby is a runaway, pregnant bride from an abusive soldier, Shawn who jumps on a bus to the farthest place she can and end up in Colorado.. Scott Trexler or Trex is an ex-marine and ex-fed working in a government compound and staying at the local hotel. He has a belief that there is this one special girl for him and he will meet her eventually, he just doesn't know who she is. yet.

After arriving to Colorado, Darby is able to get a job at the local hotel and stay there for a small fee. That's where they meet. Darby is pretty upfront about not wanting to date soldiers, cops, etc. That's a problem for Trex with his background so he makes the decision to not tell her yet. They develop a friendship and she breaks the news that she is pregnant. Trex isn't the least bit fazed and they start a tentative friendship/relationship. Even though Shawn is still looming over them.

Darby finds out that Trex was a federal agent and is mad at him for lying to her but quickly accepts it and there relationship deepens. They eventually decide to move in together and one night while Darby is working, Shawn shows up and outs Trex as a previous soldier. Of course that leads to a fight that separates Trex and Darby and Shawn pretty much kidnaps her after his friends create a diversion for Trex.

She is eventually rescued by Trex and his close group of friends who also happen to be soldiers. The end wraps up nicely with the saving, the baby is born and they pretty much live happpily ever after.

I always enjoy the authors books and I really like that there were some previous book characters that make an appearance. It makes you want to reread the previous books again.

4 stars :)

I really enjoyed From Here to You by Jamie McGuire. This is the first book in the Crash and Burn series and I love how her books reference characters from her Beautiful Disaster series. It’s always nice to get a glimpse of old characters in a different setting.

This book follows the life of Darby Dixon and Scott “Trex” Trexler. Darby in a runaway bride who leaves her abusive fiancé when she finds out she’s pregnant. She lands in Colorado Springs and becomes a receptionist at a local hotel. In walks Trex who just moved to Colorado Springs to take a job at a secret military base. Darby and Trex are drawn together but they both hold a lot of secrets.

This is a story of second chances and starting over. Jamie McGuire knows how to write a great angsty novel. Can’t wait to read more from this series. Highly recommend!

Grade: D

Darby Dixon makes a run for the border when she discovers she’s pregnant on her wedding day. Unable to face being tied permanently to her abusive fiance, she leaves and reinvents herself as a young single mother in a small Colorado town. Picking up a job at a local hotel, she meets a man who reminds her too much of her fiance and vows to stay away but what Scott Trexler, former Marine and top security specialist wants…he gets. And he wants Darby. As Trex struggles to prove to Darby they were meant for one another, there is someone stalking Darby from afar. Someone who also wants Darby back and will kill anyone who gets in his way.

If you have read McGuire’s Maddox Brothers series then you almost for sure know how this story goes. The first in a new series, Crash and Burn, a beautiful troubled woman meets a gorgeous alpha male with a warrior complex who falls instantly in love with her and does whatever possible to make her his. I found myself torn while reading the book. I liked the subplots; Darby’s issues with her abusive ex-fiance and uninterested mother, her job at the hotel, and Trex’s secret new job. I just wasn’t a fan of the romance. Insta love bore me to death. It was predictable, cliched, and overly melodramatic. The religion overtones felt like McGuire was trying to shove a square peg into a round hole and seemed more a way to assure us of Darby’s purity than anything else. Add in the clunky dialogue and obnoxious characters and I was left rather uninspired by it all.

This was another DNF for me. I wasn't really on board with the instalove nor did I feel any chemistry between the two main characters. It's unfortunate considering jamie mcguire used to be one of my fave NA authors. :(

Well, let just say I love military man especially the gorgeous mysterious one who is also a knight in shining armor. This story is heartbreakingly beautiful. Darby is about to marrying an abusive fiancé but found out she was pregnant. She realized that her baby is what most important and deserves better. On her wedding day, Darby bought a one-way bus ticket and escaped to Colorado Springs hoping to start a new life. The last thing she needs is to get involve with another man. Trex is a retired Marine who have seen too much during his time served. Trex returned to the last place he’d felt at peace hoping for a fresh start as well. The moment Darby laid eye on Trex she knew he is dangerous for her heart. Trex is charming, gorgeous, mysterious but he has some secrets he isn’t willing to share.
I really love the relationship between Darby and Trex. They are both flawed and broken. Darby has been through hell and she is afraid of putting her heart on the line. Her priority is her unborn child. Darby has the courage to walk away and that is what I love most about her (good role model for young girls as well as women). Trex is a caring, strong, fiercely protective, a hero who isn’t afraid of taking on responsibility and defending a woman he loves. Just when Darby thought she deserves happiness in her life again, her ex-fiancé came back to prove otherwise. This book has a little bit of everything – sexy, sweet, heartfelt, steamy, emotional and some element of suspense. A page turner and a great beginning to a new series.

Loosely connected to the Maddox Brothers books by the same author, From Here to You tries hard to be a sweeping romance full of angst and too much extra plot. Unfortunately, the relationship that develops between Darby and Trex feels predictable, trite and far too rushed. From the first few chapters, it is too easy to for readers to predict the outcome--Ex beauty queen Darby, discovering she's pregnant, flees her abusive soldier fiance and lands in Colorado Springs. Low and behold, ex Marine, ex FBI, current private government contractor, Trex appears as her knight in shining armor.

They're soulmates! But Darby can't make up her mind and tends to make some really impulsive, stupid decisions and Trex is far too enamored with her to see that things might get worse before they get better.

**SPOILER**

Reader's can see abusive Shawn's return a mile away. Darby does some stupid things that put her and her baby's lives in jeopardy but convenient that Trex and his super team of highly trained ex-soldiers can fix it.

Honestly, I wanted to like it, but the pacing was slow and reading to the end felt like work rather than escapism. A 3 out of 5 is generous since it should be more like a 2.5 out of 5.

There are similar authors like Colleen Hoover and Jay Crownover who handle the genre with more flare.

I'm in love with this new series from Jamie. I have been looking forward to reading it for a while and I was definitely not disappointed. This story was suspenseful and sweet and so different. I swooned and held my breath and so fell in love. I was completely entranced. I was pulled in from page one and completely lost track of time reading this story. It did not let up until the end. I love this world created and I am so looking forward to reading more characters from this series. I can't wait to see what Jamie brings us next!

When Jamie McGuire announced this new series I was super excited for it. A spin off from her Maddox series which I love, From Here to You focuses on Scott “Trex” Trexler who appears in her Maddox series.

While it’s not necessary to read the Beautiful or Maddox Brothers to enjoy this book it definitely doesn’t hurt and those books are so good as well.

Darby who is our heroine in this one has basically run from her abusive ex fiancé with nothing but her wedding dress. Showing up in Colorado she starts working at the local hotel. I am big fan of this type of storyline, and I’m immediately rooting for Darby to find happiness.

I also know that normally when a book starts off like this eventually pasts will catch up with the characters. This book has some very tender and sweet moments between Trex and Darby. There’s also some suspense as well and how could their not be, she is after all on the run so to speak.

The more time these two spent together the more I found myself wanting these two to figure it out and work through the trust issues that Darby has, with good reason of course. There’s a bit of angst as well in this as the story continues and things come to light.

I enjoyed this book but the one thing that I had trouble with were some of the scenes regarding Trex and his job. I found them hard to follow and almost a completely different storyline all together, which made it hard for me to immerse myself in this as much as I would have liked.

There’s also the topic discussed between the two main characters particularly when it came to their beliefs that almost seemed a bit OTT.

Overall it was an enjoyable read with some solid characters and a storyline that was both suspenseful and angsty.

From Here to You by Jamie McGuire

What it’s about:

As Darby Dixon sits in a tiny Texas church bathroom on her wedding day holding a positive pregnancy test, she realizes that marrying her fiancé would be the worst decision of her life. She’s never been very good at standing up for herself, but she’ll sure as hell stand up for her baby. With very little cash and a ton of courage, she flees town to take a new name and start a new life.

As a Marine, Scott “Trex” Trexler worked in the most treacherous, corrupt, war-torn places on earth. With his new top-secret security job, he finally has a chance to return to the one place he’s felt at peace: Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The moment Trex checks in at the hotel where she’s working, Darby knows he’s dangerous. He may want her to think he’s another hotshot firefighter, along with all the others battling the nearby mountain blaze, but something doesn’t add up. No way will she get involved with another man she can’t fully trust – and Trex clearly isn’t telling her everything. As Darby’s ex gets closer and closer to finding her, both she and Trex will soon find out that what you don’t know can hurt you.

My 411: You’ll see characters pop in here that are familiar, a formula McGuire sticks to. It’s a hot, fast-paced story that will have you cheering for the underdog. Our hero holds many secrets, and Darby is looking to leave that kind of life behind. When they meet serendipitously at a hotel, they’ll have to fight for their truths. (See an interview on HEA with Jamie and Lauren Blakely about From Here to You.)

I think I've officially outgrown Jamie McGuire.

I read Beautiful Disaster waaaay back in 2011 and enjoyed it, but I haven't read Jamie McGuire since my epic fails with Providence and Walking Disaster in 2013. Now I remember why.

From Here to You was tedious, cliched, and, worst of all, boring. God, if you read these books and you think that this is all that the romance world has to offer, I have news for you.

First of all, lemme talk about the insta-love. I want to bury insta-love with a shovel, but authors keep digging it up. Trex knew Darby, the super-hot waitress, was the one after one interaction. Though insta-love may be a real thing in real life, it just doesn't work in books, with VERY few exceptions. Just declaring oddly strong feelings for another person with no build-up seems creepy and not romantic in novels. Believe me.

Darby was the kind of female MC that drives me crazy. She is gorgeous and men just fall over themselves trying to protect and help her. She is helpless and never seemed to come into her own. I didn't like her overly sweet (like, fake-sweet) persona, and it couldn't relate to her at all. Her chemistry with Trex was... fine... but he felt like the savior and I'm over savior-romances.

I also wasn't expecting was the surprisingly Christian romance-feel. I did not realize that such a large chunk of this book would be about faith and God's plan, and as a non-Christian, I was not at all into that.

To top it off, I felt like I was missing something the whole time. Was there a prequel that I missed?? I was lost in a maze of characters that I felt like I should know, somehow, or that the author expected us to know intimately. It was irritating and off-putting.

I'll freely admit that I skimmed the second half of the book, and it never got any better for me. From Here to You was my last Jaime McGuire.

Darby is on the run on her wedding night after finding out that she is pregnant with the child of her abusive soon to be husband. Refusing to let that man hurt her any more she decides to make a break for it, if not for herself then for her child to get a better life. Thats when she lands at Colorado Springs Hotel where she starts her new life at. Trex is a former Marine no FBI agent working on a security job at Cheyenne Moutain Complex that's keeping things quiet. When he meets Darby its like meeting his soul mate but he has to keep his job secret from her which isn't good for a person with trust issues. Upon learning her past and why she ran he will do everything he can to protect her and her child.

This was my first impression on reading a book by Jamie McGuire, my best friend has read books by her before and I just hadn't gotten around to it. But with how this book turned out I'll be sure to get ahold of the other books because this was such a great well written book that hooked me to the very end. Now that I'm thinking about it I should send my copy of this book to her, wait never mind I'll never get back. I'll have to buy her a copy because this book is worth it and she's gonna love it. I loved the characters and seeing Darby finally stand up for herself and her baby. She was going to try to make it on her own and it was nice to see. I loved how protective Trex was but I just wanted him to at least let her in a bit of his secret before it came to bite him in the butt. Overall this was a pretty great book though i really enjoyed it!

I have to be honest. I didn't care for this book. It was slow and not what I thought it was going to be.

From Here to You was #amazing! I was super excited to see a new series from Jamie (huge fan of the Maddox Brothers) so I dove in kindle first without reading the description.... I was like it’s Jamie McGuire it’s going to be amazing..... and it was!

The story of Darby and Trex was heartwarming. Trex is an amazing man and Darby is a strong woman. I love charters like that! Jamie knows how to write them!

I can not wait for the next book in the Crash and Burn series!!!
