4 Knowing You are Out There Stars
* * * * Spoiler Free
We all know about Love at First Sight...There is look, a knowing and like Michael in The Godfather, you can be "Hit with the thunderbolt" when it hits, especially those who never thought they would ever fall in love. Many have fallen and that was that...

But what about a man who just Knows...Knows his One is out there and holds true to this idea for years... that when he sees her, he will just know...Is he crazy...and isn't it kind odd for a man of no faith...

Former Marine, Scott "Trex" Trexler is this man and has taken many a ribbing from his team when they brought up his looking for his one. They all served together, lost brothers in arms together and now they are back together in Colorado Springs to work "Security" for a government location at the base of the mountains. It is top secret and none of them can reveal why they are in the area.

Darby Dixon is carrying her own top secret which cannot be revealed. She made the most important decision of her life while in the tiny restroom located in a church in Texas. It was a decision she had been trying to make for awhile. Somehow she was at the edge of this cliff...marry the man who had been abusive to her or make the jump, leave out the backdoor with only the money she had in her purse protecting herself and the baby she is carrying and run.

Darby picked run and her best friend gave her as much cash as she had on her. Darby ended up in Colorado Springs. By selling the wedding dress she traveled in, she was able to get a few items to get by for the next few days. When she enters the Colorado Springs Hotel to apply for their open position, she is lucky to meet the owner by mistake. He chats with her at his bar, listens and sees the solid woman she is...

And because timing is everything, he makes the call to hire her on the spot. He even agrees to pay her in cash. Darby knows she needs to stay under the radar because her ex has the means to track down any electronic/government notices.

Colorado Springs is being overrun by Hotshots, men who are elite firefighters. Right now the hills are a furnace and men from all over have arrived at the hotel. It is being used like a headquarters or hub. All of them are sex on a stick... or at least think they are. Darby is learning the front desk responsibilities and all of them are trying to hit on her. She is polite, friendly but firm in her non interest.

When Trex sees Darby at the front desk...He is hit with his Thunderbolt, he is seeing his one. It is exactly like what his father told him of all those years ago. He Knows. Trex comes up to the desk and introduces himself to Darby. She gives him a beautiful smile and he is dazzled. A conversation, a little banter but nothing to lead him on takes place...Darby is very aware of what she needs to do...Stay focused and look out for her new responsibility.

This is a very sweet story with some suspense but mostly the development of this coming together of Trex and Darby. Darby maintains her focus to not reveal her secrets and Trex has his own he needs to hide. This causes Darby to continue to fight Trex's feelings for her.

There is much to admire in this book. This presents a couple who have very different beliefs, one is sincerely religious, the other is an atheist with strong values and ethics. Together they were eventually the right fit.

This was my first Jamie McGuire read and since there will probably will be more books in this series coming, it won't be my last.

Darby is no damsel in distress, but that doesn't mean Trex doesn't want to sweep her off her feet and protect her in his castle. A sweet, southern girl from Texas with nothing but the clothes on her back and a hotel job, Darby knows the road will be all uphill, but it's worth it to give her baby something better. She isn't just playing hard to get when she ignores the advances of the hotshots in Colorado, but something about Trex makes her change her plans. She lets him in, despite the unknown job that has him taking up residence in the small mountain town.

Trex has always known the one was out there, he just didn't know she'd be an authority hating woman with a suitcase full of secrets. He wants to give her his all, even if he can't tell her his real job, but he's afraid of giving her the truth, he can't give her a reason to run away. He seems to be making all the wrong decisions though, but when Darby's abusive ex shows up he knows he has to take control and show her his secrets will help him protect her.

Told from alternating perspectives, From Here to You tells the story of Darby and Trex, two individuals with more secrets than the hotel they're staying in can hold. Darby is aware of her beauty, but not vain enough to indulge it. She ran away from the beauty and lies she'd believed for so long and I loved that Jamie McGuire wrote her in such a smart way, showing that she recognized that the past couldn't be repeated anymore. Her strength, especially in working her way from nothing to something was empowering to read, even if sometimes I rolled my eyes at her silliness. For someone who does not like people with roles in military or public safety she certainly picked the wrong spot to land, but I liked that in time she opened up to the firefighters and to Trex. Trex is handsome, an alpha, and almost too sweet to believe. His faith in the one is so cute, but also difficult to imagine. I can see why girls, including his own sister, are so wary of his steadfast believe that he'd just find her and know. Of course, once he shows his true colors to Darby I fell in love right alongside her. The connection they have is instant, like two magnets drawn to one another.

The storyline was exactly what I expected, with Darby being pregnant and running from an abusive ex-fiance only to find herself meeting a guy that makes her believe in love again. While nothing was a big surprise for me, I still really enjoyed the read. Jamie McGuire knows how to tell a story, weaving in the character's pasts and several secondary characters to make it well rounded. We get to know the hotel staff, the hotshot firefighters hoping to save the mountainside, and Trex's rowdy team, who I want to see more of by the way. We know all the secrets before the characters do though, so I found myself begging Trex to reveal his and Darby to be reasonable. It can't always go my way though, I know. There is a lot of descriptive filler and dialogue to this book though, be prepared, especially if you aren't a fan of religion in books. For me it didn't bother me, but I admit it does standout a lot in the chapters where it is discussed. That said, it makes the characters who they are and I liked their differences, and I really liked their ability to love through those differences. The two share more than lust, making them a couple that you truly can picture together. Finally the part you're waiting for, I know you're all dying to know about the Maddox brothers' roles in this book and let me tell you, the story alone is fantastic, but seeing the brothers again makes it even better. We get quite a bit of interactions with them, thank you Jamie McGuire, and their roles are important to the story which I appreciated.

Emotional and complex, From Here to You is a stunning new release from Jamie McGuire. Tackling difficult subject matter like abuse and secrets in relationships seems to be McGuire forte and I liked the realness in this book. I rooted for Darby, fell in love with Trex, and clung to every word in this novel hoping that the things they didn't know wouldn't be their downfall. Whether you're a longtime McGuire fan or this is your first book, From Here to You is sure to keep your attention from start to finish.

It's been too long since I read a Jamie McGuire book and I was thrilled to find out her latest, from Here to You, is set in my very own hometown. It made the reading experience all the more enjoyable as I can so easily "see" the places being referred to. After reading the opening chapter my interest was further piqued by the plight of runaway bride, Darby Dixon. Darby has piqued the interest of one Scott "Trex" Trexler as he immediately recognizes Darby as his, a women he's never met but always knew she was out there.

From Here to You is a romantic suspense story and Maguire does a great job combining these elements. On the run, Darby is merely trying to survive. Darby I found to be endearing, genuine, and principled. Her priorities have shifted and staying safe is all the more important. She can't afford to make any mistakes in her new "off the grid" effort, and she's definitely not interested in a relationship. Trex on the other hand is all in from the go and how she manages to keep herself away from him is baffling. He is so completely and utterly charming, motivated by his alpha territorial instincts, but he's so great to with her. Trexs' life adds a high degree of action and suspense to the story. As the reader we are privy to more than Darby and I could see that how he omits certain facts could very well result in destroying their connection. As the suspense heightened my anxiety tremendously and I couldn't get through the last quarter of the book fast enough.

From Here to You encapsulates al that is great in the romantic suspense genre. Although I have no idea if any of the characters we met in FHtY are a part of the future of the series, I am already putting the next book in my mental filing cabinet as "most anticipated" reads for 2018/2019.

I received From Here to You by Jamie McGuire from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. This is the first time I have read anything written by Jamie McGuire. This is the first book in her new series Crash and Burn.
Darby Dixon is alone, pregnant, and running from an abusive relationship when she meets Scott “Trex” Trexler in Colorado. Trex has a new job that is top secret. From the second he meets Darby, he knows she the one.
I wanted to like this book as I love following the HEA of domestic abuse survivors. But the author was long winded from the beginning and I stopped following the story. It felt like every thought the characters had was written out. Add to the fact that Trex was just s little pushy and Darby a tad immature and I ended up putting the book down. #FromHeretoYou #NetGalley

Okay. This one kind of exhausted me. Not in a bad way...at least not totally, but lots goes on and some of the crazy, got really crazy. But within all of the craycray is a story filled with a lot of heart and a group of people that I ended up really liking and want to get to know a lot better.

I liked Darby and Trex, I really did, but boy did these two put me through the wringer even when I couldn’t fault them for their feelings and reactions. Darby is a sweet, good woman who has had a rougher go of it than most in her short life. Her demons ride her hard and she has a difficult time seeing beyond them and the strength she truly has. Trex is a good man. Though his past has been a rough one, he’s come out of it with a strong sense of self and the ability to see people for who they are. He is a protector at heart and will do what is necessary to give those around him what they need.

To say that Darby and Trex’s journey was a rocky one is an understatement because with all the secrets and white lies they have someone less strong would have drowned in them. The angst definitely comes out in force in one way or another and there were moments where I needed to take a break from them because even when I understood where the angst was coming from, it exhausted me, but even then I wanted to see them work through all the muck and be together because they worked for me and in the end I was happy with where they ended up.

Since this is a first in series, a spinoff ~ but still a first ~ there is a lot going on, and at times it was a bit overwhelming, but I still really enjoyed it. The secondary characters were all well written and I loved getting to know them and am looking forward to getting to know them better as the series progresses. If you’ve read the Maddox series, you’ll love catching up with a few of the family in this one, and if you haven’t (like myself) you won’t feel lost, but will more than likely want to check out their books after reading this baby. The crazy in this is kind of high and the triggers are real, but it all worked out for me and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing who the next book will be about!

I loved every part of this book!

Trex and Darby’s relationship was so amazing to watch play out. Trex is what book boyfriends are made of. He is strong, protective, and loves with everything he has and isn’t afraid to show it. I love how strong Darby is. She has gone through something no woman should ever experience but comes out on the other side, stronger than before. She never wavers in her independence and strength and I love that in a heroine.

I couldn’t get enough of the suspense and action in this story. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough and there were a few times where I caught myself holding my breath.

I love all of the secondary characters in this story. They added so much to the story and to the main characters as well. I wish I could hang out with all of them and be a part of their family.

I really enjoyed this first book in this new series and can’t wait to see where it goes and what other characters we will get more of in the books to come.

This would make such an amazing movie or tv show someday! A girl can dream!

was extremely excited to get more of Trex and Darby because I fell in love with them while reading the Maddox brother books! Trex was such a mystery and when I learned that Jamie Mcguirre was going to be writing a book for him and the super sweet Darby I couldn’t contain my excitement!

I loved seeing into Darby’s past and learning why she ended up at the hotel! I also enjoyed getting insight into who Trex was and why he was there! Darby coming from such a dark past really surprised me because she was such a sweet woman and so gracious to the Maddox boys! I was so heartbroken for her but also amazed by her strength and resilience! I loved seeing the softer side of Trex and getting to know who he was at his core and that was a man longing for his true love!

There were points for me where the book lagged a little and I found myself wanting to skip over pages but in the end I read word for word and it all came together beautifully! Though there are still some unknowns I know that Mcguirre will reveal all in later books which is one thing I do love about her writing! She has the ability to weave a story through many books with a bigger plot in sight that will ALWAYS blow you away!

From Here to You is a great read. Darby had me hooked on the story from the beginning. In the beginning we see Darby leaving her abusive fiancé on their wedding after she gets a positive on a pregnancy test. Darby is a very likeable character. She strong and determined and not whinny not all. She ends up at the Colorado Springs Hotel, where luck is on her side and she gets a job and a place to stay. There she meets Trex. Trex is a different kind of guy. He's not a player and he believes the one for him and out there. He's a former Marine and FBI agent He's currently working in a top-secret military complex. He knows Darby is the one he has been waiting for. She's sworn off men who are in the military, cops, and firefighters. Trex takes it slow with Darby. As he's slowly winning her over, he also keeping secrets from her. I was hooked and couldn't turn the pages faster enough, I waiting for her to find out what he did for work and for her ex to pop back up. I really liked this one it kept me hooked from the start to finish.

Darby and Trex's story was so hard to put down. It was fast moving and full of action and character development. Darby was so easy to like and you really felt for her, she came from such an awful relationship and also had some family struggles. I liked Trex though I definitely hate that he kept the fact that he was a marine from Darby for so long. I get it at first, but the more it dragged on the more it frustrated me. I wish it had come to a head a little bit sooner so we could see Darby and Trex deal with that lie of omission. The release of that information and the ending happened so close together that Darby went from being pissed to thankful in a hot minute.

I really hope that in future books we get to eventually find out what Deep Echo is all about. It's driving me crazy not to know what's really going on down there!

Jamie Mcguire has a way of writing extremely strong and dramatic love stories full of an emotional load that leaves me groundless beyond all this she loves to leave people tense with her mysteries stories that are only solved in the last minute of the last time.
OMG!
Darby has a very distressed life history, and she has become an apathetic girl until she discovers something that demands an immediate attitude from her. Helped by a friend she decides to change her life and look for another direction.
Upon arriving in the city of Colorado Springs she meets the mysterious Trex. A man who transpires danger.
The involvement between them two happens even with the fears of Darby and little by little Trex is revealing himself and conquering the girl.
I loved the special participation of one of the Maddox brothers and loved it so much how everything was done until the end.
This cover is perfect for the book.

Jamie has been on fire this year! First with All the Little Lights (review can be found here) and now From Here to You, the first in the brand spankin’ new Crash & Burn series. If you’ve read All the Little Lights then know From Here to You is completely different but still great in its own way. This book pulled me in and kept me on edge the entire time. I was anxious and scared, but also swooning so hard. I’m tellin’ ya’ll now…this book had me up in so many feelings!!! This, for me, was a second-chance romance in the way that sometimes we just don’t get it right the first time, and that everything happens for a reason. It was intense and so, so addicting.

We meet Darby in a church bathroom just minutes before she’s set to marry a man who is beyond abusive, condescending, and manipulative. Up until this point Darby didn’t respect herself enough to leave, but when she finds that she’s pregnant, things change. She wants better for her child and she knows in order to achieve that, she had to leave. So that’s exactly what happened; with the help of a close friend she hopped a bus to Colorado Springs with nothing but borrowed money and the wedding dress she had on.

Darby’s character fascinated me. She was relatable in many ways and tried to be a realist in most of what she did after she left. She craved independence and was one hell of a strong woman to have upped and left. The picture Jamie created with her and the past she was running from was amazingly well-written and scarily vivid.

Trex has always had this perfect girl in mind and has told everyone he knows that when he sees her he’ll know that it’s her. He’s also had a very complicated life that hasn’t been all rainbows and sunshine either. He’s ex-marine, ex-FBI and is now working for a government so classified that he cannot tell anyone about it. He’s the epitome of what Darby is trying to stay away from….military men and people who can’t tell the whole truth. I loved how this character was a hopeless romantic even though he’s lived a rough life. He isn’t jaded and when he first meets Darby, he fell right away and fell hard.

The insta-love for Trex may throw some off, but I think Jamie wrote it in a believable way. Unlike Trex, Darby is jaded and suspicious of love. She’s very serious about doing right by her child and that made me love her all the more.

The plot itself was good; the pace was kind of slow in some areas, but all-in-all it kept me intrigued and wanting to find out what happens. I knew that she wasn’t finished with her ex (women never are when it comes to scumbags like the one she left) but I just didn’t know how it was all going to play out, and that is what kept me going. Also, for those of you who loved the Maddox brothers you’ll get your chance to see some in this story so that was fun and endearing to witness.

Overall, I loved this story. It had just the right amount of suspense and romance. Jamie blended the two perfectly and created this heart-warming and alluring story of second-chances and true love. It was beautiful.

From Here to You by Jamie McGuire is book One in the Crash and Burn series. This is the story of Darby Dixon and Scott "Trex" Trexler. This is the first book in the Crash and Burn series.
Trex has retired from the Marine now is doing a top-secret military installation that has taken him to
Colorado Springs. Trex is a tough guy with secrets but one thing he knows is that when he sees Darby she is the one women he has been waiting for.
Darby just literally ran from an abusive fiancé when she found out she was pregnant. Darby ended up working at a Colorado Springs Hotel. When she meets Trex she find herself drawn to him but she just left one bad relationship and Trex seems to be fill with secrets....so she isn't' willing to risk her future yet on him. But between her past and things in the present...they may just only have each other.
So enjoyed their story...what a great start to a great series!

Jamie McGuire has been missed! Her writing is some of the easiest to get lost in with her talent for character building and giving the perfect balance of angst & life. With From Here To You I was so excited to see Darby get her front and center moment. She was such a lovable character from Beautiful Burn and the instant attraction and pull between her and Trax was magic. Darby is a character easy to love with her vulnerability yet courage to create a better future for herself and unborn baby. And Trax with a haunted past of his own is the perfect blend of alpha and heart. Jamie has the gift to deliver emotional romances while not making them over the top and that in itself makes me want to own everything she writes.

Hold on to your socks ladies because Trex is about to knock them off. When I finished reading From Here to You I honestly didn't know what to say about it, to be honest I still don't. This is one of those books that you just feel in your soul while you're reading it, who am I kidding, you're going to feel it long after you finish. That's one of the things I love about Jamie's books, you will never forget them.

I'll be honest, I was a little nervous jumping into this one because I was such a sucker for the Maddox brothers that I wasn't sure she could write anything better. I was wrong, absolutely wrong. I think that I may even love Trex more (that'll be our secret though). Darby is a runaway bride, she is timid (with good reason), and starting fresh. Trex is after a fresh start and ready to move on with his life. When these two meet it is like love at first sight, kinda, at least one of the to is smitten right away. I don't want to say much and risk ruining any part of a book this good, trust me you NEED to read this one. From Here to You is the first book in the Crash and Burn series and I honestly don't know how it's going to get my better than this. Go read From Here to you now, trust me, you don't know what your missing.

Jamie McGuire builds worlds that you just get lost in. I've read all of her books and would read anything she wrote.

This is the first book I have read by Jamie McGuire and I must say I. AM. HOOKED.! It had everything in a novel that you could want; Romance, Suspense, Mystery, Action etc. I really loved the main character, Darby. And even though on more than one occassion I wanted to smack Trex on the back of the head, I really liked his character too. The booked flowed very easily and I found my myself flying through chapters. I am excited to read more of Ms. McGuire's books. I will definitely be recommending this book to my friends.

*I recieved a copy of this book free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions/thoughts are my own.*

I was thrilled to see Jamie coming out with a new series. The series is about the Alpine Hotshots and their Comrades. If you loved the Maddox Brothers, then you will enjoy this. I was hooked from the beginning. It's a beautiful story with lots of angst. Darby comes into the picture with strength and determination. You can't help but admire her and root for her. Your ovaries might explode for Trex. He's sooo caring and loving. What made me fall for him is the fact that he wants to jump in to help Darby in a tough situation.
I loved these two and was on the edge of my seat reading this. I can't wait for Zeke's story and to get more info about that complex.

Thank you @grandcentralpub for the free copy via @netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Darby finds herself pregnant and about to make the biggest mistake of her life, marrying her abusive fiancé. So with only the clothes on her back and cash she has on hand, she jumps a bus and gets as far away from Texas as she can. In Colorado, she meets Trex. She knows he’s trouble, but the attraction they feel for each other makes it impossible for them to stay away from each other.

Unfortunately, this book was not for me. I will say that I did like Darby’s character. I liked that even though she started out as a victim, she found inner strength to walk away from her situation and start a new life. I just found it hard to focus on the story because I just wasn’t into it. The romance genre is really hit or miss for me and unfortunately this one just wasn’t my cup of tea.

This title releases on August 21st. If you’re a big romance fan and the synopsis sounds interesting, then I would encourage you to pick it up and give it a try.

Thank you very much for my free copy. I made it a little over halfway and just had to give up on this one. Unfortunately, it didn't hold my attention. I almost stopped it a few times, and I just have too many other books to read to try and finish this one. Maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind, but to me this book felt very slow - I felt like nothing was really happening, and I was bored reading this one. It felt very predictable to me (although I didn't finish it to see what actually happened). This might be great for someone who like's rom-com/women's romance novels, but it was not a good fit for me.
