I am very sorry I could not rate this book higher. I saw it was published by Tule Publishing so I wanted to give it a try. Kasey Lane the author is new to me, so I am not familiar with her other works. I know I am conventional, but I don't think I'm prudish. Maybe this review is not fair to the author. I am sure there are readers out there that do not mind cursing in the first few sentences of the story. Or maybe you enjoy explicit sex acts described through out the book, but that's not for me. If you like hot, steamy sex and can get past the F bomb, you may enjoy this quick read by Kasey Lane. I tried to rate my review on the writing itself, but it still came up short. The fact that the main character, a short time into her marriage to the love of her life, runs away to become a singing star, for me was not plausible. Kasey's husband, whom she left to pursue this career and is still married to, walks up to the front of the church and kisses the daylights out of her at her grandmothers funeral. They haven't seen each other in years and he does this in front of the complete town. I'm sorry, but I jut couldn't buy into it. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Tule Publishing through NetGalley, Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Kendall’s life isn’t turning out quite like she expected. Sure, she’s made it big with her singing career but that also carries the majority of her troubles right now. After some major betrayals and humiliations she’s headed back to the one place she never thought to return to… home. Her grandmother’s death could change a lot of things in Kendall’s life once again… just not the way she expected.

Punk Rock Cowgirl starts off the Blackberry Cove Cowboys series with an emotional, sizzling second chance romance. I like the world that’s being built in this series, and I’m certainly planning on continuing this series. Kendall and Damian are the type of couple that one minute you want to hug ’em and the next smack ’em upside the head. Frustrating is a good word for these two. Damian has good reason to be angry at his runaway wife and he thought that anger would fuel him for a long time. But with Kendall back home those old feelings aren’t going away and crazy as it might seem he’s hoping that they can finally make their marriage work. Kendall’s reasons for leaving didn’t seem all that good to me… but miscommunications will do that to a couple. I liked this couple, their chemistry is apparent from the start – they just have to work through accepting that the love never really went away. I enjoyed my time in this world and would recommend Punk Rock Cowgirl to any Contemporary Romance reader. I’m hoping that we’ll continue to get glimpses of Kendall and Damian as the series moves along, I’d like to see how they’re fairing now.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Kasey Lane is a new author for me to read. However, because Punk Rock Cowgirl is published by Tule Publishing I wanted to give it a try. It is a great book to begin the Blackberry Cove Cowboys series, so I am glad that I did. I am not a big fan of celebrity type of stories, but this is not that kind of story nor is it an on the road story.

This second chance romance really had some tender and serious moments in it. It had me thinking Reese Witherspoon as Kendall Kelly, perhaps because of Down Home Alabama. Don’t let that comment make you think that this is a copy of that instead it has its own unique story-line. The story flows and the characters are engaging though flawed especially Kendall more than Damian. Second chance, forgiveness and renewed dreams are all part of their story.

What a terrific start to a new series. Blackberry cove is a great backdrop for the story. Wonderful writing and fantastic characters that keep you engaged in the story until the end. Great second chance romance that emotional, heartbreaking and triumph. Loved the H/h. Worth the read. Thanks to NetGalley I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.

What I anticipated in this book paled in comparison to the writing, the story and the well developed characters. I felt swept into the longing of the characters for each other hampered by their distrust, insecurities and fears. Damian and McKenna belong together; they are soul mates separated by vindictive and intrusive relatives who deem McKenna unworthy for Damian, even though she is his wife and perfect for him. McKenna fled Damian and the town four years prior and is only returning for her unloving grandmother’s memorial and will reading. In the course of seeing Damian again, she knows it is time to confess why she left, not knowing if there is still love awaiting her. McKenna’s life itself is a mess and it is Damian that might be the one to pull things back together and upright their relationship.

Kendall Kelly, also known as the punk rock cowgirl, was burned out. She was tired of touring and always being told what to do. Plus her manager embezzled the advance her record label gave her and now they wanted their money back. She was back in Blackberry Cove, the town she grew up in and couldn't wait to leave, for her grandmother's funeral.

Kendall planned to stay for the funeral and will reading and be gone as quick as she got there. But there are a couple glitches in her plan. She still married to Damian Sloane, even though she walked away from him four years to start her music career. Kendall's grandmother left Kelly Farms to both of them. Now, Damian wants Kendall to stay and pick up where they left off and Kendall is starting to enjoy being with him and life on the farm. But when Kendall gets a call from her record label and they want to meet with her in Los Angeles, Damian doesn’t take it too well. Will leaving Damian this time be their final goodbye?

I always enjoy a good second chance story and this one grabbed me from the start. I liked the characters and enjoyed seeing how their story played out. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.

This is one of those books where you can see the future promise of the author but the writing is just not quite there yet. I really wanted to be swept away in this story but I just could not turn off my brain off. The reasons for their separation were completely unbelievable. Not even a young, naive girl would have run off based on such flimsy events. So much of the conflict was overwrought and unnecessary. The scene at the bar with the angry woman interested in Damian made me more sympathetic to her feelings than the couples'. I could go on as there are a lot of things that made me nit picky about this book but I am still really interested in seeing where Kasey Lane goes in the future

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first book I have read by Kasey Lane, her characters feel very real, whither you like them or detest them this author brings them to life on the pages.
I admit my emotions were all over the place running from sympathetic to elated and now I must catch the second book in this Blackberry Cove Cowboy series, I don’t want to miss a thing.

Punk Rock Cowgirl by Kasey Lane, A first book in the Blackberry Cove cowboy series. A great start to a new series. This book pulled me from the first page with the possible second chance at romance storyline. Loved the setting and the characters also. This book was an excellent way to kick off the new Blackberry Cove Cowboys series. It's wonderfully written with characters that will touch your heart. Kasey Lane is a new to me author but after reading this book I'll be looking for more from her.

Kendall Kelly returns to Blackberry Cove after the death of her grandmother. Never did you expect to have to deal with Damian Sloan on this trip but after the reading of the will it's obvious she not only has to deal with him but she will also need to convince him to sell the farm to help her out of her troubles. Sure she might technically be married to the man but surely he's forgiven her for leaving by now. Or maybe not.....

This was an excellent read and one I think you'll enjoy. I definitely recommend it.

Punk Rock Cowgirl was my first read by Kasey Lane and I was delighted by the easy ebb and flow of the plot and the likeable and well developed characters too. I’m looking forward to see what Ms Lane has in store for us next, as the Blackberry Cove Cowboys could easily become a favourite read!
