I liked this book and it’s gorgeous illustrations, but I thought it could have been just a little longer in length. Otherwise, it was a wonderful picture book for young children about the importance of fathers/father figures in children’s lives.
Another adorable book about Little White Fish. I love the colors and illustration style of these books. They are fun and simple and very sweet.
PIctures were simple and bright. Story is about all the sea creatures talking about their father’s and their skills. Fathers play such a important role in the life of a child.. he is a childs role model...this is a really simple cute bedtime sfory for kids.
Simple storyline in which each undersea baby explains why their own daddy is so great. The fastest, strongest, the biggest... But little white fish believes his daddy is the best because he plays with him and reads him stories. Nice book for child and parent bonding but nothing to make the story really stand out in the crowd.
Great heartwarming children's book that will make you fall in love with the characters. A great book to read to your children and grandchildren. I loved the. great illusions.
I got this becuase my neices were in town. They enjoyed this book when I read it out loud. I would say that the story is well done and the kids could follow it easily.
I just did not enjoy this book.... I love children’s books that are funny, provide good story lines, and teach good lessons. Given, the target age is probably preschool age, so I’m sure this would be a great book to read to preschool aged kids to bed at night. The art style is really pretty too! I just don’t think this book is for me
This was a really sweet story that highlighted all the favourite things that these children saw in their fathers. The illustrations were very simple, cute, and vibrant as they stood out brightly against the black background. Super cute and fun!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this book!
There's not really much to say about this book. It's a run-of-the-mill picture book about being proud of your parent, despite how much others brag about theirs.
I enjoy picture books where animals are the main characters instead of people - it makes the book much more enjoyable. Any child could relate to the book, despite their background, race, gender or sexual orientation of their parents.
The quirky and childlike style is a delight to the senses. I like the sea theme; it's a lovely backgrop that always includes beautifully bright colours. All-in-all, this is a cute collection to any parent, teacher or speech-therapist's picture book haul.
I know this is a children's book, but the language felt too simple. I wish there had been more dialogue between Little White Fish and the others, or maybe even a rhyme scheme, but it started to feel repetitive about halfway through.
I do think there is a valuable message there... Dad's are important and each excel at something different. It's good to acknowledge what other father's can do, but also be proud of the father you have.
Normally, when I read books to my children, the words and the story flow from page to page. Little White Fish and His Daddy felt choppy and wasn't very engaging. I think making the book longer with more dialogue would have better conveyed the message within the story.
A delightful and colourful story of Little White Fish and all the creatures he meets as he explores the ocean. Each sea creature boasts about how fantastic their Daddy is for a particular reason and, rather downhearted, Little White Fish suddenly realises he too has something to celebrate and share with his underwater friends. A lovely to story to read with young children. The brightly coloured illustrations help to engage the reader/ listener. Perfect for encouraging children to join in with the descriptions as you read. I just wish it had been a little bit longer.
A sweet simple book with very nice imaginative illustrations. Positive message of how fathers are not all alike and have different strengths.
Colorful, fun illustrations of sea creatures make for an appealing little book. Little white fish encounters a whale, a goldfish, a starfish and more. All of these tell what makes their daddy stand out, size, smarts, a shell collection, etc.. But little white fish has a daddy that plays with him. Cute premise. However, according to the text, the seahorse is proud because his daddy can swim one hundred miles an hour. Not. Seahorses are some of the slowest creatures. A quick search on the Net will provide an answer to the question, "how fast do seahorses swim?"
A cute story about how every child has a special daddy, from the point of view of a little fish. This would be good to read to children from birth to around age 6 or for new readers to read on their own.
Very cute story about a fish finding out all the great things about the other dad’s in the water. Very cute. Great illustrations. Uplifting story about dad!
"Little White Fish and His Daddy" shows different sea creatures with their fathers and what they love about them. I liked this book because they are not much books about fathers and their children. It also teaches children about adjectives and superlatives. In terms of values, the book shows a son loves for his father, seeing him as only being the best. Again, not something you read much. However, I find the color bit lacking. For an underwater story, I would love to see more blue. I think they used black because of Little White Fish, but why not Little Pink Fish? It was not that interesting to look at especially for little kids like my son.
This book was really cute for small children. I found the brightness of colours, and quirky illustrations very eye catching for a kid. There's a nice family story about little sea creatures showing off their dads to the little white fish. And little white fish thinks his dad is the best just because he is the best.
It's really heart warming and has a nice message for a little kid. I would recommend it for sure.

Such a sweet story! A must have for Father's Day reading. It's a short one, but just right for toddlers and preschoolers. Nice way to open a discussion on what makes one's daddy special. Illustrations are fabulous and I bet colorful, but having only a Kindle, I don;t have that options! I will be looking for this book as it will make a nice addition to a father's day collection! Love Guido Van Genechten's work!
The book has a great concept - of loving our family (fathers, in this case) and appreciating their skills. The book exudes positivity and instills the ability to look at the bright side of everyone.
The only thing I wished it had was a better narration. The story starts and ends abruptly. It would be great if the author could have engage the curious reader. Had the book been written as a poem, I believe it would have had a greater impact.
A beautifully illustrated book with such a sweet message! A little fish goes swimming in the sea and comes across different animals who tell him why their own daddy is so great. And he comes to the conclusion that his daddy is just as special and he loves him and is the best in his eyes. My daughter (3) really enjoyed being able to name the animals and opened up a good discussion on why her own daddy was the best!
