There are some novels that don't match up with what you think you're getting into. From the spoilers, I was rather hesitant to start this one. It wasn't until a friend suggested if was the best thriller they've read in awhile that I dug into it on a rainy day. And boy am I glad I did. My word of advice: don't read the back of the book, don't read the reviews on Goodreads, just start reading. The pacing is superb, the flashbacks are seemingly unconnected, and you'll probably start to suspect that everyone is plotting against Clara, just as I did.

Twisty, turny and quite surprising. I love the multiple perspectives. The way they aren't seemingly connected until much later in the novel. I thought this was a very quick read, once you start, you won't be able to put it down until you've figured it out.

This book has every ingredient that a recipe for a fabulous thriller should have! It was based on lies, played on the sympathy of the reader, made everyone a suspect in a mystery that will have you guessing until the end, and wrapped up with an incredible plot twist that will leave you breathless!
Camilla Way created a storyline that wasn't entirely unbelievable which made the characters seem real and everyday. She wrote a story from different perspectives that left me questioning myself as I read and my suspicions as the plot unraveled. I absolutely love a thriller that can keep my guessing until the end. (doesn't happen often)
I loved loved loved this book and will no doubt read more of her work. The Lies We Told will most certainly make our top reads of 2018!

When Clara's boyfriend, Luke, doesn't return home one night, she prays there is some sort of logical explanation. He had too much to drink and slept it off at a mate's flat, or he worked too hard prepping for an interview and fell asleep at the office. But as the hours tick by, she begins to suspect something much darker may have happened to him.

Increasingly concerned about his whereabouts, she ends up contacting their old friend, Mac, as well as Luke's parents. No one has seen or heard from him. After some prodding, she notifies the authorities and he is formally listed as a missing person.

After the police find CCTV of Luke getting into a mysterious van, Clara knows for sure, something sinister has happened to him but what?

Along with her good friend, Mac, Clara begins an investigation of her own and discovers Luke may not be the person she thought he was.

I had so much fun with this book. I flew through it, I couldn't put it down!

There's no boring domestic drama prattle here. This is a right and proper Adult Thriller.

The dual narrative kept the story flowing at such a sensational pace with reveals coming just when you needed them. I trusted no one. Everyone was a suspect in my eyes and that made it so exciting. The ending -- chills. LOVED IT.

Thank you so much to the publisher, Berkley Publishing Group, for providing me with a copy to read and review. I am only sorry I didn't pick it up sooner.

If you are an Adult Thriller fan, and you have been sleeping on this one like I had been, just stop. Pick this up. I would be shocked if you were disappointed!

Clara’s live in boyfriend, Luke, doesn’t come home from work one night, but as she tries to dig into what happened to him and where he might be, she is continually faced with bizarre stories and situations----especially from Luke’s family. In fact, Luke’s older sister had gone missing over 10 years prior---is it possible for these two missing persons cases to be linked? I had this book on my NetGalley shelf for a couple months before I actually started reading it, but once I started, I couldn’t put it down. Fast paced with lots of questions to answer, the book kept me guessing right up until the end. I’ll definitely watch for more from this author, and I won’t wait as long to read her next books!

NOTE: Special thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.

Another fantastic thriller.
I seem to have an affinity for thrillers told in this way, going back-and-forth between past and present until the stories diverge and we finally learn the truth. This one kept me guessing until the very end and I immediately passed a physical copy on to my mom, who shares my love of mysteries.

was a gripping thriller that took you to every aspect of trying to figure out what was really going on and what was going to happen next! This was such an amazing book and I can’t wait to see what else is released from this author!

I really enjoyed this mystery/thriller. It takes you on so many twists and turns, that the inner sleuth in me was having a field day. Clara is a strong character who is determined to find out what happened to her boyfriend Luke. What throws her for a loop is that Luke's sister, who disappeared 20 years ago, returns and wants Clara's help to find Luke. There's also the characters of Beth & her daughter Hannah who provided an entirely new level of craziness. This book takes you on a rollercoaster of questions. Definitely recommend it for the thriller/mystery lovers.

Talk about a tangled web we weave or what? This story hooked me right from the beginning. I was mesmerized by the past and present stories, then the colliding of them together at the end. What a well-written book! Full of twists and turns. Perfect build up of story. Unique.
I’m such a slow reader, plus haven’t had the time to read much I missed the publication date release. So I purchased the audible version of this book. So if I couldn’t read I would listen to it. The audible version is great too. Fabulous narrators as both women did an excellent job. I loved that you could always tell which character was telling their story.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good written psychological suspense-Mystery/thriller.

*A very special thank you to Berkley Publishing Group via NetGalley for the advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review*

The Lies We Told was a mind-blowing novel with twist after twist that readers won't see coming. The novel is told in dual perspectives from the past and present, but it isn't until much later that the two narratives converge. One story is told through the eyes of a mother with a young daughter demonstrating psychopathic tendencies. The other story is about a girlfriend trying to locate her missing boyfriend. I had all kinds of theories but the truth about the link between the two tales was much more complex than I ever expected. I liked the girlfriend Clara, although at times she came across as very naive. The ending was exciting, albeit rushed with too many loose ends for my liking. However, the book was still a 4.5/5 Star read for me!

Clara is living with her boyfriend Luke. Luke comes from a “perfect” well-to-do family. Luke is being stalked by an unknown person. When Luke fails to return home Clara isn’t too worried until he misses an important meeting. As the days drag on with no word from Luke, Clara begins to work with his friend Mac to try to find him. In the process she discovers his family isn’t as perfect as she thought they were. Clara and Luke’s story set in 2017 is parrelled by the story of Beth and her strange daughter Hannah set in the 1980s. How are the two stories connected? This will be revealed in one of the many plot twists later in the book that leave Clara and the reader unsure who to trust. This book is a well plotted psychological thriller I thoroughly enjoyed. I wish to thank Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

Intense psychological thriller that explores true evil. The story unwraps the bad that exists in good people and follows the trajectory of lies, from little white lies to those criminal in nature. It will leave you looking for the agenda behind the actions of others. The story was a great read - you won't be disappointed.

I don’t know what to really say about this book. I’m still processing it and I’m actually upset with how it ended. If you don’t like reading books with cliffhangers then this book is not for you. I wasn’t aware that there could potentially be a sequel as I thought this was a standalone.

This book is divided by future and past. The future is about Clara. She’s a great character and her storyline is definitely interesting but I have to honestly say that I liked the past a little bit more.

The past is Beth and Hannah’s story. There’s something about a psychotic kid that is interesting. If Hannah is relatable to anyone other than her family then you need to see a psychiatrist. This chick is straight up crazy. C-R-A-Z-Y lol

Overall The Lies We Told is an addicting read. Building up suspense until the last cliffhanger page. The writing is superb. The characters are well rounded. The story original in its own way. If it weren’t for that ending this would have been easily a 5 star read.

It wasn't bad or anything, just a little underwhelming after all the hype. I had no idea how to connect the two timelines for the longest time, so that kept me reading and I was excited about what would happen. The ending felt a bit rushed, but really this was an okay thriller.

I enjoyed trying to figure out how the two storylines would intersect and was pleasantly surprised on how well they merged. The ending seemed to finish abruptly and could have been flushed out more. I look forward to more from Camilla Way.

The Lies We Told was an interesting, quick read. Beth's daughter Hannah has always behaved in odd ways and clearly has a hatred for her mother. She intentionally hurts her mother and other children and tries to burn the house down. Clara is in a what she thinks is happy relationship with Luke, who disappears one night. Clara, along with she and Luke's best friend Mac, go looking for him, finding along the way that Luke was not the perfect boyfriend he appeared to be. As Clara goes searching for information and we begin to understand Beth and Hannah's relationship is also not what it seems to be, the lives of both families intertwine in a way that is not expected. The twists and turns took me places I was not expecting!

I absolutely fell in love with "The Lies We Told" by Camilla Way. For the several days it took me to complete this book, nothing much got done except for reading!

The story is told by alternating chapters between 2 narrators and time periods and you keep wondering how the 2 stories relate until about halfway through the book. And then .............!

If you love a great psychological thriller, then this book is for you. Just make sure to clear your schedule first because you won't want to go stop reading!

this book follows a past and present story line that eventually connects as you continue reading, so you spend most of the novel trying to piece together how the two time lines relate and why they are even important to one another. I found some characters very suspicious from the beginning but kept questioning myself as the story progressed, the author leads you to believe some people are shady but then you aren't completely convinced.
I thought it all wrapped up well too, a nice little plot twist, no happily ever after etc.
I found when everything was laid out and all the truths were shared and as a reader you finally have all the pieces to the puzzle, that it was all very well done.
It starts as just a missing person story but it is so much more than that. A missing young man, who has a family history of missing persons. A girlfriend who finds out her missing boyfriends past isn't what she thought at all. And a girl who just wanted to be loved but doesn't know how to love herself.
This took me by surprised at how much I enjoyed it.
