Straight away I drawn in by the story of Theo, having read the previous book I was so excited to read to read the next book and just has I was really getting into it, it sadly ended, brilliant story and look forward to the publication of this book.
Theo's story (sampler) was beautifully written..Theo is desperate for love, companionship and friends but he's alone in the boarding school far away from home.
His parents are more concerned about themselves and pay very little attention to Theo.
Can his life improve as he gets older and make his own decisions?
Theo is a lonely 7 year old boy when he is sent away to boarding school, he doesn't fit in and your heart goes out to him when one of the masters tell him he is weird...... and it can only get worse..... if it wasn't for the lovely groundsman Mr Porter his life would have been hell! This was just a taster and so I am really looking forward to being able to read the whole book but am excellent start
I loved reading Anna, and I wondered how reading the same story through another characters eyes would work. I’ve only read the sampler so far, but I can not wait to read the rest of Theo’s story.
I would like to thank Head of Zeus and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Theo’ written by Amanda Prowse in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Theo Montgomery is unloved by his parents who consider him to be a nuisance and at the age of seven he’s sent to Vaizey College where his father and grandfather went before him. Theo hates it there and his only friend is Mr Porter the elderly groundsman who teaches him about life and how to always tell the truth.
‘Theo’ is a sad and touching short story about a young boy going through the pain of being separated from his mother and having to bear the loneliness and name-calling from his fellow students. It’s a poignant and sensitively written novel that brought tears to my eyes.
After reading ‘Anna’, the first half of Amanda Prowse’s ‘One Love Two Stories’, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Theo’s side of the story. So I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to read this sampler of ‘Theo’ and so far it is everything I hoped it would be!
I’m excited to read what happens next and will be posting my full review on my blog (Cal Turner Reviews) as soon as I’ve finished the complete book. But what I’ve read so far is an easy 5 stars for me. Amanda Prowse is a gifted storyteller and I savour every word she writes. Looking forward to reading whatever she comes up with next!
Having loved Anna, I was really looking forward to finding more out about Theo. What a brilliant start this sample was. I wanted to cry at the way the story unfolded. I can't wait for the rest of the book on publication. I'll be fascinated to see if nature/nurture comes into play. Another winner from this brilliant author.
I received an arc copy of Anna courtesy of Net galley and Head of Zeus, and was introduced to Theo there.
I received the sampler of Theo courtesy of Net galley and the author, and I hasten to say that after a couple of pages in, I was already in tears!
I cannot wait to read the full story to hear how Theo's journey continues.
I just know that it is another brilliant read by Amanda Prowse!
If this sampler is anything to go on, this is going to be another corker by Ms. Prowse. Can't wait to read the rest of it.
This was an Advanced Sampler Copy, not the full book. Definitely has left me wanting more! The start of Theo's life is filled with struggles.
This is going to be an interesting coming of age story to read. Very much looking forward to the book!
Thank you NetGalley and Head of Zeus.
A wonderful taster of things to come, can't wait for the full book
I was lucky to have received an arc of Anna by Amanda Prowse (#OneLoveTwoStories) and this was where I first met Theo. In this sampler: Theo we discover his back story,; his childhood, and I loved reading this almost as much as I enjoyed Anna. I can’t wait to read the rest of the book. I thinks it’s such a clever idea to have the two books: Anna and Theo joined in this way.
I absolutely loved this sampler, and can't wait for the full story to be published. I weeped buckets at Anna's story, so i'm expecting another heart-wrenching tale from Theo. 5 big full stars *****
After recently reading Anna and loving it, I was very happy to receive a message from the author asking if I would like a sampler of Theo, of course I said YES!!
As a young boy Theo has been shipped off to boarding school and he hates it, taken away from his home, away from parents who quite frankly don’t seem to know that he exists half the time, and he’s a loner until he befriends the groundsman, Mr Porter, who takes him under his wing and treats him with the respect he deserves. I love Cyrus Porter!!
I loved the sampler of this book as much as I loved Anna and I can’t wait to read the full story to see how it ends. A very easy 5 stars.
I have just received this excerpt from Theo and it’s proving to be even better than Anna. I can’t wait to read the rest. It really explains Theo’s background and what made him the man he is. Solid 5 stars from me so far.
This was just a sampler. As always Amanda Prowse creates such real and wonderful characters. I was drawn in from the very beginning. Just can’t wait to read the full book.
I devoured this book in one sitting. Theo is a boy you just want to hug and protect. The story explains how difficult it is as a young child to atttend a boarding school. Theo struggles to find his place in this sports oriented world and is described as weird. The friendship that grows with the groundsman is delightful and the lengths they both go to to protect each other. My heartbreaks for Theo as he grows up with parents who fail to put his needs first. I now cannot wait for the full book and hoping that Theo gets his happily ever after.
One cannot help but empathize with Theo in this short read. He's joined a prestigious school and everyone expects so much of him yet he barely knows who he is and what he desires in life and these struggles within escalate on the outside when he's bullied.
It's an interesting coming of age story and I'm sure readers would relate to Theo because we've all been fourteen at some point. Thank you NetGalley for the eARC.
Absolute love this sampler of Theo, as with Anna the first book I can see this is going to be just as great. I can't wait for the whole book to come out and I can review in full.
This sample definitely leaves you wanting more! Theo’s journey of life is upsetting to read bad once again Amanda’s style of writing leaves you immersed in the story . Cannot wait to read the rest .. thanks to the publishers and Amanda for my copy
