Love this series and love this book! Chase and Jordyn are fun and sexy. The book deals with some serious issues too, but does it in a way that totally makes sense and doesn't diminish the love story at all. I highly recommend this book and the rest of the Aces series.

Decent, if somewhat boring, standard sports romance novel. Didn't dislike it but wasn't my cup of tea either.

I needed to read Playing Hurt. I needed to read a romance where I didn’t have to use my brain to figure out complex plots/relationships. I was able to relax and enjoy reading this book. Which is something I haven’t been able to do in a long time!!
Playing Hurt is the 6th book in the Aces Hockey. This book can be read as a stand-alone. While the other characters from the earlier 5 books are in Playing Hurt, they do not take over the book. Which is something I liked.
The plot of Playing Hurt was cute. Chase starts flirting with Jordyn over Twitter. Eventually, they go on a date after she loses a bet to him. Sparks fly but nothing happens. It wasn’t until Jordyn suffers a vocal injury that lays her up for a year that she reconnects with Chase. That is where the story takes off.
I liked Chase, even if he was a stubborn SOB. Why was he stubborn? Well, he refused to go to the Dr and checked out. Even when he was in obvious pain. So yeah, that was the one part of him I didn’t like. Everything else, I loved. He was romantic (hello, surprise trip to Aruba!!) and more importantly, he knew how to communicate. Well, except for his injury. I did feel bad for him. His parents were jerks. Withholding love because he wanted to quit hockey as a child. That was awful.
I loved Jordyn. She was down to earth. She was sweet. She knew how to hold her own with Chase. My only issue with her was that she was almost too nice. There were a few points in the book where I wanted her to do something naughty to spice up her character. She was almost too sugary sweet. But that aside, I loved her. She was perfect for Chase. She was the ying to his yang.
The romance part of this book was sweet. I loved how the author chose to keep their relationship on a slow burn for the first half of the book. It made the chemistry between them insane. Sparks flew when they interacted. Be it Twitter, text, face to face or phone. And in turn, those sparks made for some pretty intense sex scenes.
I loved the end of the book. While it was your typical happily ever after, I had no issue imagining Chase and Jordyn lasting in real life.
What I liked about Playing Hurt:
A) Chase and Jordan’s Twitter romance
B) How romantic Chase was
C) How realistic their romance was
What I disliked about Playing Hurt:
A) Chase being so stubborn. I wanted to smack him upside his head
B) Jordyn being sugary sweet.
C) Chase’s parents
I would give Playing Hurt an Adult rating. There is explicit sex. There is language. There is some very mild violence. I would recommend that no one under the age of 21 read this book.
There are no trigger warnings for Playing Hurt.
I would reread Playing Hurt. I would recommend this book to family and friends.
I would like to thank Random House Publishing Group, Loveswept, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review Playing Hurt.

I love hockey stories. I enjoyed this.
I didn’t LOVE chase in the beginning... but came to love him in the end. This was a really cute, quick read.

Playing Hurt was another good addition to this series. I enjoyed the story well enough, though I enjoyed previous installments more. It’s definitely worth the read and I would recommend it.

The real strength of this book is the characters. Both Chase and Jordyn have people in their lives who pressure them to continue performing as long as possible. They also have conditions/old injuries which are causing them problems. By the end, they realize that it is possible to depend on some people and that taking personal time does not make them weak or failures.
The use of social media makes Chase and Jordyn's meet-cute fun. They have awesome chemistry! My favourite scene is their first date. There is also some quality smut and a healthy dose of humour. A solid sports romance and an enjoyable read.

I loved this book! Kelly Jamieson is great at writing romance, especially hockey romances. This was a great story and loved the characters. This has been one of my favorite authors for sport romances for a long time, she never has disappointed me. I highly recommend this one!

This was another great hockey romance by Kelly Jamieson. The crush that Chase had on Jordyn was just too cute! ❤️

**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title compliments of NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review**
I've enjoyed every single book in Kelly Jamieson's Aces Hockey series and this one was no exception. Playing Hurt was a solid addition.
Chase Hartman is a standout on the Chicago Aces hockey team and he happens to have a crush on Jordyn Banks, an ultra popular pop star who lives in LA. When Chase discovers that Jordyn is also a hockey fan, he ends up sending her a tweet on Twitter which starts a very public and flirty conversation between the two. Not even thinking, Chase throws out a bet in their conversation and if he wins, he wants a date with the songstress. He never thinks she'll agree, but she does. In the end, he wins the bet and a date.
Once they figure out how to make a date fit into their very busy schedules, the two hit it off immediately. While neither of them are looking for anything serious, they find in one another something they haven't been able to find elsewhere and that is the ability to just be themselves. When Jordyn is forced into a hiatus from singing, she ends up spending her time in Chicago (which happens to be her hometown), which enables she and Chase to spend more and more time together. Chase is struggling on the ice and so having Jordyn around is also a benefit to him as well.
While Chase is supporting her through her difficulties, Jordyn wants to do the same for him as they attempt to figure out what is going on with him and causing him not to play up to his potential. The question is, will he allow her to or will demons from his past end up rearing their ugly head?
I enjoyed this book and I feel like it definitely fits with the times with so many people connecting over social media. It was a solid addition to the Aces series and I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment of this series!

This was the first book I have read by Kelly Jamieson and I hate to say it, but it will probably be my last. The premise of the book sounded so promising with an athlete and a singer who are romantically linked through twitter. Once I started reading I had a really hard time finishing the book. I didn't feel the chemistry between Chase and Jordyn. I will admit that there were some parts of the book where I simply skimmed it because I had lost interest and the writing style wasn't really what I like to read.

When Chase Hartman clicks follow on a pop stars page he has no idea that that one little click is about to change the course of his life... he has harbored a secret crush on pop star Jordyn Banks for some time now, so when she starts to flirt with him over social media he is left a little starstruck. He quickly learns that he is also on her radar, since she is a fan of his work on the ice. But this new little online distraction of his starts to effect his focus on the ice and his coaches are quick to assume he is up to no good again off the ice, since he has had a little trouble with that in the past. But he doesn't look at his time with Jordyn as a distraction, if anything she is just what he needs...
When hockey star Chase Hartman issues Jordyn a bet and she loses, she finds herself getting a more intimate view of the hockey god on ice... and she really likes what she sees, but her heart starts to revolt. A relationship with someone that is just as busy as she is, is certain to have it's downfalls, and is certain to leave someone with a broken heart. But the more time she spends with him the more she wants to risk everything to see where it goes, not accounting for the fact that doing so could put everything else that she loves in jeopardy... and she suddenly finds herself stuck between a rock and a hard place. And said hard place has never felt so good...
Playing Hurt is a hockey themed tale riddled with the feels to warm your heart, witty banter to put a smile on your face, and lots of steam to have you blushing throughout! This newest addition to the Aces Hockey series is sure to score some serious points with romance readers, it comes baring many wonderful gifts... especially it's hero Chase Hartman, the man will make you swoon for days!! I am a sucker for a well written hockey tale and I have to say this one definitely hit the mark, and held it's own with other installments to the series, and came out shining brightly! I highly recommend this one, it's a well crafted read that should not be missed!!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.

I love a good Hockey romance and I have read books from the Aces series before. and loved them, and this was a winner for me! Jordyn is a famous musician and Chase is a starter for the Aces! Chase can't believe when Jordyn and him start a banter on Twitter, after all he has had a crush on her for a while. After date number 1 Jordyn knows that her feelings for Chase will be more than a one time thing. Chase and Jordyn are such a cute pair! Between injuries and daily stress and then mix in some miscommunication and their relationship is on shaky ground! The banter between these two is exhilarating and fun! This was an new way of starting off a romance and, for me, this book had it all; a Twitter battle, some hockey and music all swirled into one to make this book a hit! This was a great read for me and can't wait for the next in this series!

I have read this series, but this book is a complete stand-alone. I enjoyed this story as part of the Aces series. Chase is a professional hockey player who is having a difficult season. Jordyn is a famous singer who is forced to take a break due to vocal cord issues. As both are struggling to deal with their individual problems, they develop a relationship.
I loved the way this relationship began. Chase had a crush on Jordyn. She, as a hockey fan, follows him on Twitter. They begin chatting through Twitter, developing a fun, flirty, long-distance friendship. Eventually, they meet in person and build on their real-life relationship. Throughout, they maintain that flirty and humorous banter that is quite entertaining.
This book includes steam, romance, humor, and drama. At times it is frustrating seeing these two get in their own way, but overall it is a great read that maintains a consistent flow throughout. I am looking forward to the next book.

I have become a fan of Kelly Jamieson and her Aces Hockey series are some of the best sports series I have read. Playing Hurt is no exception. When Chase has the chance to meet up your music star Jordyn, he can’t believe it. He swears he not a not starstruck, unless you count all the pinup posters he has. Despite the ribbing from his teammates, he knows there is a real attraction between the two and when injuries happen that could cut both their careers short, will their love be able to stand the test.

Love a great hockey love story! Love it even more when the main characters are a hot hockey player, Chase, and a rock star, Jordyn. Follow their story as you read along on how they met, can they stay together, is she in it for the love?
Kelly writes the most amazing hockey books, on point with her hockey facts which as a huge hockey follower are important to me, and can bring you to your knees with the emotions you feel!
5++++ stars, grab this one as soon as it comes out! I absolutely loved this book & the main characters!

This is a very sexy read. Chase is a hockey player with a bad boy reputation that is currently struggling on the ice right now. He is playing hurt but doesn't want anyone to know. Instead everyone thinks he has gone back to his partying ways. Jordyn is a pop singer that is hitting her stride in her mid-twenties. She & Chase start up a flirtation on twitter that leads to a bet for a date if Chase wins. He does, so they meet up in Chicago for the date. Things seem to be going great, but Jordyn doesn't trust the long distance is going to work between them & she knows Chase is fighting some deeper things. Can the two of them find a way to work this out? Will they develop more of a relationship when Jordyn is sidelined briefly in her career? I definitely recommend reading this book to see what happens.

I really liked the Chase and Jordyn separately as characters, but together I didn't think they fit. They were really different and although opposites sometimes attract, I could not see these two together in the end.

Chase is a hockey star. Jordyn is a rock star. When Jordyn, a hockey fan, friends Chase on twitter, Chase is someone star struck because he is a fan of her music.
They start up some very public twitter banter which leads to a bet for a date on a hockey game. Of course, they end up on this very public date and the chemistry is perfect… there is lots of witty banter and great potential. Unfortunately, both Chase and Jordyn have issues that cause strife in them getting together.
Playing Hurt was a spicy, hockey-based romance, with mostly sweet and witty banter. I liked it but it lacked the riveting connecting that I’ve come to expect from Jamieson. It was sweet and heartfelt. This is just one of those couples you just knew where meant for each other, if they could just get past their issues...mostly his issues... Playing Hurt was one of those HEA you can't wait for it to really happen but its played till the end.

This is the 5th book I've read in this series and while it's not my favorite (see previous book), I definitely enjoyed it. There was romance, humor and of course some drama but isn't that what makes the story great?
Both Chase and Jordyn are going through a rough time. What starts as innocent back and forth of twitter becomes a date on the end of a dare. The banter continues on twitter and through text messages afterwards but things change when Jordyn has her own medical crisis.
It was a slow read in that for the first 75% of the book the story was really just these two getting to know one another. The last quarter is kind of when everything happened and things picked up for me. This is the only thing holding me back from giving the book a higher rating. It just needed something more earlier in the book.

Another great story from Kelly Jamieson. I can’t get enough of this series & this book has just made the series that much more enjoyable. Chase & Jordyn are great characters alone & together. They have a strength that is recurring in this series. The song bird & the hockey player, two very different lifestyles but with one big thing in common.....hockey. We see the pain & agony of injury for both of them & the strength that it takes them to get past their injuries & heal, but also the strength that they unknowingly give to each other. This book as per usual for Kelly Jamieson is packed with heat & sensuality that just keeps you hanging on & wanting more. This is a great addition to the series & I definitely recommend it.
