I really enjoyed this book. It had an eye catching cover. It’s simple but eye catching my kind of cover. Anna was someone I just wanted to wrap up in a hug the amount she goes through is frightening. I loved Tanya and Freddie this book is dark but once it grabs hold of you, you don’t want it to let you go.

Looking forward to the next one

Thanks goes to net galley and the publishers for providing me with a copy in exchange for an review. and Emma for writing it,

Runaway Girl – Emma Tallon

Well for a rework of her first book this is none too shabby Emma Tallon is a talented young author and I think that if you like Kimberley Chambers, Jessie Keane and Julie Shaw you’ll enjoy her work. She’s definitely one to watch for the future, I expect that with a few more books under her belt she’ll be unstoppable.

Anna Davis and Tony the Greek don’t have the best of relationships although it might be better if he would keep his hands off her; he keeps her captive controlling every single aspect of her life ensuring that she leads the very worst kind of lives with him. All she wants is to be safe so she grabs her courage with both hands and runs away in the middle of the night ending up in London.

On the run she meets and makes friends with Tanya Smith a former stripper who takes her under her wing and its not long before they are the best of friends. Through Tanya Anna meets Freddie Tyler who is a man with two very different sides to him. Freddie completely adores Anna when they are together she is his absolute world and if that’s exactly what she wanted that’s what she would get. The only worry is are her two friends are really who they say they are? Has her life really changed for the better? Or is out of the fire into the frying pan?

Anna and Tanya have plans, plans to make them both self-sufficient and hopefully wealthy. Things begin to come to fruition and life is pretty good, she’s still looking over her shoulder but it’s better than the way it was. Then Tony the Greek comes looking, he and his men are tearing the place up looking for her and she knows if he finds her she’s a dead woman……

I have to be honest and say that I read this sometime ago and realised that I hadn’t written my review for Netgalley and the Bookouture Publishers.

I waited a little bit before writing a review for this one simply because I needed to get my thoughts together. I received this as an early copy from the publisher and decided to pick it up this month because I wanted all the creepy books on my October list. This book was pitched as something a little different than what it actually was. I thought this story was going to revolve around Anna escaping and being on the run and it ended up being half a love story and half of Anna’s story with a whole lot of scenes with the mob/gangs that could have had their own story. Over all I bounced between a two and three star rating because there were some parts of this book I didn’t like (the romance... dear lord the romance) and there were parts I did like (the suspense). If you’re looking for a thriller that will keep you up, I think passing this one up will be ok.

I just love reading about East end bad guys, and in this thrilling book, Tony ticks all the requirements! Anna is kept hostage by him, manages to escapes and then he goes on a mission to try and find her.
It was really an entertaining book, from beginning to end, and honestly I can highly recommended it!

Anna Davies has finally escaped from her gangster sociopath boyfriend.
She meets Tanya, a stripper who offers her a place to stay.
East End gangster Freddie Tyler has set his sights on Anna.
With her ex boyfriend hot on her heels Anna needs to find out who can she really trust as both have secrets that could change everything.

I really enjoyed Runaway Girl. It was gritty, fast paced and had everything I would look for in this type of genre which is one of my favourites. I'm also looking forward to what's next

I really enjoy reading gangland crime thrillers and when I heard about this one it sounded right up my street . I have to admit however that I found it a bit slow to begin with but after a while the pace picked up and I found it to be a great read. A good story and I’m looking forward to reading more in this series.

This is a brilliant thriller in the style of Martina Cole. Anna has been kept prisoner of gangster Tony, for several years. She manages to escape and meets, stripper, Tanya who invites her to rent her spare room. Tony has all his men looking for Anna in the hope that he may one day kill her. However he may have met his match in London gangster Freddie who will is in love with Anna and will do anything to protect her. Read on!

Wow where to start? I absolutely loved Runaway Girl it kept me hooked the whole way through and on the edge of my seat and I couldn't read fast enough. Anna's gangland boyfriend Tony is very abusive towards her for years until one night she can't take it anymore and she runs away and she then befriends Tanya at a forecourt and she takes her under her wing and she ends up sharing a flat with Tanya and the 2 became great friends.Thhen Anna meets Freddie who treats her like a lady and would do anything for her but are Tanya and Freddie really who they appear to be? and will Tony track her down?
I have read gangland books before by other authors but I didn't like them but Emma Tallon has changed my mind about the gangland genre I can't believe this is a debut novel and I can't wait for more!!!

I knew from the very first page that I was going to love this book! The story introduces you with a terrified Anna finding her opportunity to escape the evil clutches of her sadistic man, Tony.
I was totally hooked from start to end. Each charector has a detailed somewhat colorful past that drew me in . Tania, Anna's best friend and saviour almost to the absolute sweetheart that is Freddie. Fantastic read and I will be very sad if the story does not continue....10/10!

As a debut novel this is absolutely excellent - it is a highly additive read and I loved it!!

The book is exciting, very well written and a complete page turner - I flew through the pages as I had to find out how the story ended - I did my normal "just one more page" and before I knew it I was well over half way through the book... that is one of the signs of an excellent writing style for me and it is such an easy book to read.

The characters were very engaging and I have no hesitation in giving the book 5 stars and definitely looking forward to reading more from Emma - very highly recommended!!

I am reviewing a copy of Runaway Girl through Bookouture and Netgalley:

Anna Davis is tired of living in fear of her Gangster Boyfriend. The man is an abusive monster and for year Anna has been living in fear for years and finally gets tired of it.

Starting a new life isn't easy but Anna meets two strangers who end up changing her fortune forever. Tanya Smith is an East London Stripper with a big heart and Freddy Taylor is everything that her ex was not!

But are these two who they say they are, or are they hiding something sinister?

Will Anna be able to truly get away from her past, or will she die trying?

Find out in Runaway Girl

Four out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

Thanks a million Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this book. Anna has escaped from her totally sadistic gangster boyfriend Tony. But she knows he will never allow her freedom. She knows he will do his best to track her down and kill her!! But has she run straight into another life with another gangster boyfriend? And will Tony finally track her down?? A brilliant gangland thriller. A must read. I can't wait to read more. Definitely recommend it.

‘Runaway Girl’ by Emma Talon out now and published by Bookouture

Hey, the whole styling of the cover and write up shouted ‘Martina Cole’ and so I expected it to be...however it way surpassed Cole’s latests books and was more gritty, compelling and hardcore than any book of that genre I have read in a long time
The characters are ‘with you’ from the first time they appear and I loved most of them, the main character Anna gets your loyalty and you are rooting for her the whole book.....however Tony, the man who has kept her virtual prisoner for years until her escape I absolutely loathed, he has to be in my top 3 most disliked characters in a book EVER ( kudos to the author for this ) he really is vile with NO redeeming features, to think there are men who are actually like this is sobering...
I loved everything about this book, how Anna escaped and what she did and........ well, you will gave to read it to see....its hard hitting, very hard hitting and compulsive reading and cant wait to read the next chapter in Anna’s life.......( hoping there will be a next book to make a series )
You will find this a real page turner and when turn the last page feel ‘yep’ I have invested my time well in a great book
10/10 5 stars

This was my first book by Emma Tallon, but I don't think it will be my last. Runaway Girl had my attention from the start and I kept reading and reading, eager to know how this story could logically be resolved. I won't spoil it, but I will say, I was not disappointed!

Runaway Girl by Emma Tallon, Wow, Wow, Wow Bloody WoW, I can’t believe how much this book blew me away, you couldn’t have torn the kindle from my fingers I was so engrossed.

Ganglands, murder, drugs, strip clubs, money its all in there Emma managed to draw an intense criminal gangland thriller from the depths of her imagination and gave us the story of Anna, an ex-girlfriend of Tony a ruthless gangster, where she has managed to escape his clutches to start a fresh in East-End London. We follow her interactions with Freddie another gangster unbeknown to her, but although Freddie is violent and intense with enemies or people who cross him, family and friends are important to him and its obvious he will do anything for them.

Anna moves in with a stranger Tanya whom she met on a garage forecourt when she left her boyfriends car, without her belongings and would have to walk home, Anna offered her a lift and their friendship blossomed from there, Tanya took Anna under her wing even though she knew she was hiding her past.

As the days and months pass, Anna even though is still looking over her shoulder for Tony because she knows he will kill her if she is caught, but her directness with the help of Tanya they manage to open there own special dance club. Now the fun begins but is Anna still in danger, only time will tell…….

I love the portrayal of Anna’s character very sweet, quiet intelligent individual who may have battered and bruised in her life but the bounce-back ability Anna shows is phenomenal, also Tanya is like a loveable rogue who may have been tangled in auspicious careers over her past but her motivation and strength tends to cover her past wrong doings and brighten up her life and prospects. Tanya and Anna make a great team.

The men in Anna’s life are as different as chalk and cheese even though they prevail in the same circles, perusing in violent tendencies when money and fake goods are concerned. The gangland scenario shone through bright and clear in Runaway Girl and I thoroughly enjoyed the mysterious and suspenseful scenes.
In general Runaway Girl is amazing, the context of the story is harrowing and mysterious but also with a loving touch of calmness patrolling through the pages, it was fantastic watching the different backgrounds of each character unfold before my eyes. I can’t to hear more about Anna and Freddie, hopefully Tanya becomes a firm favourite in future books too, they are a team that work well together.

Thanks go to Emma Tallon, Bookouture and Noelle Holten for the advanced readers copy of Runaway Girl in exchange for an unbiased and honest review. Thanks again to Noelle to for allowing me to be part of the Blog Blitz, it was awesome x.

4.5 Gritty Stars🌟🌟🌟🌟.5

This book was such a pleasant surprise.... had I actually read the blurb and known it was about London gangsters/ mobsters/The dark underbelly... I might not have picked it up and I am so thrilled that I did.... this book was filled with fabulously developed characters, an amazing plot and just the perfect amount of twists and turns...

Anna is running from her abusive boyfriend Tony.... Anna was impossible not to like, she had a quiet grace and strength to her.... Anna was very fortunate to have happened upon Tonya... who eventually became her flatmate, BFF, and business partner.... Tonya was fabulous... and I absolutely adored the friendship that these girls developed... one of my favorite things to see in books is positive female relationships..... another person Anna was fortunate to run into was Freddie.... I totally pictured Freddy as Sonny Corinthos on General Hospital(An American soap opera)... he is that lovable hot bad guy....

The plot had a few twists and turns I absolutely did not see coming... there were also a few unlikely coincidences, but hey it is fiction after all... The ending was perfection in my opinion... there is a part in the ending where I wanted to give Anna a standing ovation, you go girl! and I am so happy that there is a follow up, cannot wait for that! So thrilled to spend more time with Anna, Freddie, and Tonya (I really want her to get her HEA)

Strongly recommend to everybody who enjoys a good book with fabulous characters....

*** thank U so much too Bookouture and Net Galley for a copy of this wonderful book ***

Thanks to Netgalley for my copy. 3.5*

A romantic story told in the guise of a gangland tale. Not as gritty or as violent as others in this genre but I would be interested to read more as the characters develop through a series.

A tad predictable in places and a little unrealistic. Is a hardened criminal really going to wine and dine a woman without expecting anything in return? Or am I just too cynical maybe!!!!!!

Anna Davis has spent years terrified of her horrible boyfriend. She runs away and meets two people Thelma Smith and east end Freddie Tyler he can be kind and caring for Anna. Does she take them as they are.
I received this from Netgalley
