I read book 1 in this series, but they can be read as stand alone books. You will get more character development if you need them in order though. WOW! This story was absolutely on-the-edge of my seat, non stop suspense and action. I stayed up very late one night to finish the book because I was not going to stop reading halfway thru. 😉

If you are sensitive to the subject of human trafficking, which is the main subject in this book, you will want to skip this book. However, it’s a very real thing that keeps happening in people’s lives. It was so tragic and heartbreaking to read about some of the missing girls and the situations they find themselves after they are kidnapped and forced into slavery.

I absolutely loved Chloe’s canine partner Hank and how she depended on him and worked with him. (Makes me want a trained dog for protection!)

Lots of great scenes, unpredictable, great characters, some clean romance but mostly suspense. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Lynette Eason is one of my favorite authors!

I made the mistake of reading book 3 blurb at the end of the book and now I can’t wait until Jan 2019-it’s going to be another awesome book and great addition to this series!

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

Here's another incredible suspense novel, the second in the series, from one of my favorite suspense authors!

This is more about the St John family, and I absolutely love them.

Chloe is a cop. She's assigned to a case that keeps pulling her in further and further...and she's still trying to solve the mystery of what happened to her niece that disappeared.

I loved the K9 element that appeared in this book. The talents and abilities of these special dogs is absolutely incredible.

The one thing I did not like in this book was the subject of human trafficking. It was very realistically portrayed, and felt so sickeningly real. It is an awful thing to have right in our own country, and maybe even next door. Extremely sobering. (maybe not a book for young girls to read)

The suspense. The twists and turns. The nail-biting action packed take down of events. All of these combined to make an unforgettable story.

I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to “catch up” to the 2nd book in the series since I hadn’t read the first but I definitely want to go read the first book now! I also read the first part of the 3rd book and I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

Very fast paced book that keeps you interested. I really like Lynette Eason’s writing style.

When Chloe St. John and her German Shepherd Hank are called to the scene of an accident, everyone is shocked at what they discover. US Marshall Blake MacCallum has trusted his secret to only one person—Chloe’s brother.

As Chloe and Blake join the task force to find human traffickers, protect a judge, and search for Blake’s daughter, they spend a lot of time together. Blake is impressed with Chloe’s capability (and he can’t help but notice she’s a pretty woman).

With plenty of high-stakes, intense situations (often with a few other St. Johns in the vicinity), Lynette Eason delivers another romantic suspense read that takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, keeping heartrates raised until the final pages. Pulse-pounding suspense alongside strong family ties, and of course, the starting shoots of a romance for another St. John sibling.

If you like the TV show Blue Bloods, then you are going to love Lynette Eason’s Blue Justice series. The second installment, Called to Protect, follows Chloe St. John the K-9 officer who is part of a large family with ties to multi-agency law enforcement. As a team, Chloe and Hank can ferret out illegal drugs or track missing persons or fleeing suspects. Their expertise is integral to the investigation that includes human trafficking and threats against a judge. I loved this action-packed romantic suspense novel and give it a recommended rating.

A number of St. John siblings and cousins are involved in Called to Protect, but Chloe is the main focus of this book. I really like the ensemble cast of characters and enjoy getting an in-depth look into one or two with each book in the series. Chloe joins Federal Marshall Blake MacCallum in this intense and highly personal case. There’s a lot going on — assassination attempts, missing girls, and bad guys galore — keeping the characters and readers on their toes as the plot twists and turns. There are plenty of surprises to keep you guessing. Called to Protect is romantic suspense, but I appreciate the way the author takes it slow. The relationship between Chloe and Blake evolves naturally and realistically, especially in light of the seriousness of the subject matter. The main characters are Christians, and their faith is also realistically portrayed.

Called to Protect can definitely be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading it after book 1, Oath of Honor. That way you’ll be all caught up when book 3, Code of Valor, releases in January 2019. I am eagerly anticipating another thrill ride with the St. John family.

Recommended.

Audience: adults.

Chloe St. John has been working on the K-9 force with her canine partner, Hank, for over a year. Chloe and Hank join a special task force to bring back US Marshall Blake MacCallum's daughter, who has been kidnapped and is being held as leverage for blackmail.

Blake has been to assigned to guard a judge, and when his daughter is taken the kidnappers demand that he kill the judge in return for his daughter's life. Will he and Chloe find a way to thwart the kidnapper's evil plans and mend their broken hearts?

Blake is torn between the love of his daughter, and duty, he is clever and quick thinking calling on his friend in the FBI to help him out. Blake is understandably very stressed out, he is a man of action and he hates the helplessness that he feels to help his daughter.

Chloe is a great partner, supportive and honest, she knows what to say to Blake, and prays for him and Rachel constantly. Chloe is a well of strength and competence, and holds to her faith throughout.

Blake's daughter, Rachel, is brave, determined, and somewhat stubborn, she helps them track down the guy who took her, but doesn't run because she hopes to help her friend who was also taken.

Overall, I loved the suspense of this book, it has great dialog, and admirable characters. It is chock full of action, and it was hard to put down. I thought that it dealt well with the difficult topic of human trafficking, though as a mother it was hard to read about, but it is good to be aware of this very present issue. Great pacing makes this story fly by. I loved the way that this book portrays the men and women who risk their lives to protect and serve.

If you read the first book in the Blue Justice series, you were probably as excited as I was to get my hands on this one. Eason has a way of drawing me in, and holding me captive until the very last page. I try to tell myself not to read the teaser for the next book, a.k.a. the torturer, but I can’t seem to obey. So here I am yet again anxiously awaiting the next Blue Justice book. This series follows the St. John family as they fight for justice and watch out for each other. Called to Protect focuses on Chloe and her amazing dog Hank. Working as a team they are unstoppable, too bad they can’t be everywhere at once. When a case hits close to home they will do everything in their power to find those responsible.

Blake doesn’t know if life will ever get back to normal. Having a teenager is never easy, but he would take that any day over worrying if he can find his daughter before it’s too late. Someone is taking young girls and Blake will stop at nothing to put an end to this nightmare. Knowing he can’t do it alone, his best friend creates a task force of experts in all different areas, which luckily happens to include Chloe and Hank. Will the team be enough to rescue the newest batch of missing girls?

This book was so unique. Having human trafficking be such a huge part of the story was hard sometimes. Having two girls of my own, it hit close to home. I loved reading about the bravery these girls displayed in the face of what would have been terrifying. Eason transported me there and had me biting my nails several times. I enjoyed getting to know Chloe and Blake more, and can’t wait to see everyone again. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Suspense. I had the hardest time putting this book down, and know you will as well. I was kept on the edge of my seat having no clue what could possibly happen next. I received a copy of this book from Revell Publishers and was in no way forced to post a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Fair warning: don't start this book unless you can also finish it. You will not be able to put it down!

US Marshall Blake McCallum's teenage daughter has disappeared and the price of her release is the murder of the judge that Blake is protecting. When his investigation leads to a human trafficking ring, his terror for his daughter ratchets up to unbelievable heights. Can he find her before she disappears into the trafficker's web for good?

Chloe St John and her K9 partner, Hank, have been together for a year. Hank is a triple threat- drugs, cadaver and protection, and Chloe is called often for input on solving crimes. When she learns that Blake's daughter is missing her investigation puts her squarely in the kidnappers sights. As she and Blake work together, will her crush on her brother's friend bring them together or push them apart?
The plot twists in this one gave me whiplash! Every time I relaxed, thinking the characters were all safe, WHAM! Something happened to throw them back into jeopardy. I had no idea who the ultimate mastermind was until the very end, which, in my view is the mark of a great suspense book. Ms. Eason has crafted yet another great series here, with a nod or two to the characters in her Elite Guardians series. Called to Protect is book 2 in the Oath of Honor series, and can easily be read as a standalone. Lynette Eason is a favorite of mine and I heartily recommend this to any romantic suspense aficionados out there.

This book was insane. This was the first in the series I've read and it was easy to follow. It left me up at one AM (and later) reading because I just couldn't stand to put it down. It had great twists and turns, and it wasn't entirely predictable. This book conveys very important morals of family and faith. It also discusses a horrific silent epidemic that's sweeping our country: human trafficking. This book was absolutely fantastic and I can't praise it enough -- you just have to read it for yourself. I'll be waiting for the 3rd installment of the series!

Called to Protect is the second book in the Blue Justice series by Lynette Eason. I have read all of Eason's books and loved them. This one was no exception. In true form, Eason whisks the reader off on the first page, and the ride doesn't stop until the end.

The plot centers around Chloe St. John and her K-9 dog, Hank. They become entangled in a case involving sex trafficking and slavery. I loved Hank and I'm glad he to got to be the hero a few times in the story.

Chloe meets US Marshall Blake MacCallum who has been tasked to protect a high profile judge. Blake has been ordered by the traffickers to kill the judge or his daughter dies.

Eason fills each page with danger and suspense. Though this book is fiction, I feel many parts of it ring true in today's world. Women and young girls are being sold everyday and used in unspeakable ways. I wish there were more people like Chloe and Blake in the world to fight this evil.

It's been a while since I've read an action/suspense novel, and I had forgotten how much I enjoy them. However, I probably shouldn't have read it while I took my kids on vacation. It freaked me out the whole trip since the story is about human trafficking. I should probably be freaked out at home since it seemed that's where everything took place in the story, but man...I watched my kids like a hawk. People probably thought I was being an over-protective parent, but this book really got me thinking. I know human trafficking happens, but I know so little about it that I've never given it any thought. Super sad, super scary. I will never fathom how these people's minds work.

The topic was done in a way that wasn't as graphic as it definitely could have been, and I was extremely grateful for that. The aftermath of it was never really delved into in this story, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I mean, the story was over, and you could probably write a whole other book just on dealing with that, but it seemed sort of glossed over, oh you're home so you are fine. That didn't sit super well with me. I enjoyed the relationship in this novel, but the book summary made it sound like it was going to be different, and it flowed a lot better than I was expecting. Actually, all the relationships in this book happened kind of quickly, or without a lot of drama. There was father/daughter drama, but it resolved super easily and I'm not sure how I felt about that.

I loved how this series is about a family. Somewhere along the way I missed book one. So this can be a stand alone novel. However, this family is huge and I was getting lost on who was who and the relationships between everyone. I don't know if reading the first one would have cleared that up or not, but I am interested in going back and finding the first in the series. Actually, she had a little blurb for the third one at the end of the book and that caught my attention as well. So I'm pretty excited about this series. Hopefully the next one's topic isn't as heavy as this one was. If you are sensitive to that kind of stuff I'd skip this one and read her others. Like I said earlier, it was done as non-graphically as possible, but you should beware that it is in this book.

This was a very heavy topic to be dealing with. I liked how the topic of human trafficking was dealt with. It was not glossed over or made light, the storyline portrayed the devastation and heaviness of this topic, but rather than just leaving me with nightmares, it gives insight into such a frightening reality. The story also shows the hope for recovery aspect of this as well.

As soon as I picked up this book, I did not want to put it down. This is a hold your breathe, non stop action book!

I enjoyed reconnecting with the St John family members, and getting to know Chloe and her K-9 Hank much better. I quite enjoyed learning much about the K-9 talents of Hank- that was very interesting.

I enjoyed Blake MacCallum’s past, particularly the story with his daughter. I love how that was portrayed and the love that he has for her, even when she did not always realize it. I liked that those family and parent/child dynamics were portrayed. I liked the budding relationship between Chloe and Blake, and liked that the emphasis was on the other storyline with rescuing the girls, which i enjoyed.

I enjoyed Rachel’s character and the insight and reality that her character brought to the topic of human trafficking. She was very brave and selfless in her fight to try to help the other girls.

This is a very fast paced must read. I am now looking forward to getting into Brady’s story!

Called to protect is another book by Lynette Eason that makes you want to keep reading. She is the reason i like reading. This story is touching because the daughter getting kidnapped or taken is strong these days.

Called to Protect focuses on Chloe St. John, a K-9 cop, and Blake McCallum, a US Marshall. Both are personally invested in solving a human trafficking case since they have loved ones who've gone missing. Having grown up together, they worked very well together as a team, but I especially enjoyed the scenes with Hank, Chloe's K-9 partner. I'm a dog lover, and I enjoyed reading about Chloe and Hank's work and their special bond.

This story gave me a lot of emotions. As I was reading, I was excited, frustrated, and eager to see how everything turned out! I really wanted to see those criminals brought to justice! This story felt extremely relevant to our current society as human trafficking is a huge problem not just in foreign countries but in the United States as well. I appreciate Lynette Eason shedding light onto such a complex issue. I'm hoping that those who read this book will become aware of the signs and dangers of human trafficking and will learn how to keep themselves and their loved ones safe.

As with the first story in the Blue Justice series, I would have been happy if there had been some more faith-building moments for Chloe and Blake. There were certainly some situations for it that seemed to go mostly unnoticed. I also could've done with a little more romance, but that's just my personal preference. This story is still an excellent read, and I'm excited to read Brady's story next!

Wow, this book is chock full of exciting moments and it is a suspenseful ride from the get-go. I enjoyed getting to know Chloe a little better and Blake and Rachel were great additions to this series. The mystery/suspense part of the plot flowed well and kept me invested throughout the book. Another winner for Lynette Eason!!

Call to Protect is the second installment from the Blue Justice series. I thought it was pretty good. I give four stars.

I love animals, cop stories, suspense and action. This book has them all. Chloe St. John is a K-9 cop in a family of cops which makes it all the more frustrating that she can’t find her missing cousin, Penny. When a routine traffic accident produces info about human trafficking in the area, Chloe is instantly drawn into the case. She and her dog, Hank, relentlessly pursue leads even when it puts her in the traffickers’ crosshairs.
This book does a good job of showing how difficult it can be to track down traffickers. It shows how evil trafficking is without getting into any graphic details. It shows the desperation family members feel as US Marshall Blake MacCallum searches for his daughter. It has to be so emotionally difficult and yet rewarding when someone is returned to their loved ones. I could feel the tension and the danger and could hardly put the book down. The last couple pages had some things that felt pretty unrealistic to me but I get that it would be hard to adequately cover or address the aftermath of a case like this one in a short space.
I would highly recommend this book and this series. There are twists and turns and non-stop action. It’s a great read. Thank you to Revell for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. I was not required to leave a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Great story! Lots of suspense and a little attraction, also.
Chloe St. John is a K-9 officer. The male she most likes and trusts is the K-9, Hank. There is a vehicle accident and since drugs are suspected, Chloe and Hank are called in. Hank discovers drugs in the 18 wheeler, but that's not all. Hidden in a secret compartment are many frightened girls who were headed for the black market to be sold. One of the girls, Rachel, is the missing daughter of Blake, a US Marshall. Blake has been ordered by someone to kill the judge he is currently protecting or Rachel will be killed. The judge is a big advocate in attempting to get stronger sentences for human traffickers.
Loved the story, but there were some things that was just a little tough to believe a person would actually do those things. One example, is teenage Rachel, once free of those who captured her, chose to follow the man who had posed as someone interested in her in order to capture her. She thought she could 'help' the other girls. Dumb, dumb, dumb and just not believable. There were several other instances of unbelievable things, which is why I have four stars, rather than five. Overall, it is a good story and kept me on the edge of my seat.

By far the best book by Lynette Eason I have read and maybe even the best book I have read all year. The tension was so crisp keeping me on the edge of my seat until the very end!

Chloe St. John is one of the top officers in the K-9 unit with her partner Hank. After a rough break up, Chloe has decided Hank is the only man she wants in her life. She and Hank have been working on a human trafficking case that has ties to her missing cousin. US. Marshall Blake MacCallum has been on protective detail of a judge in town after the judge receives death threats for his tougher stance on human trafficking. When Blake’s daughter goes missing, he receives a message telling him that if he wants to see his daughter alive he has to kill the judge. A task force is assembled to take down the people behind everything and Chloe and Blake work together to find his daughter and hopefully find answers to what happened to Chloe’s cousin.

This has got to be one of the very best romantic suspense novels I have ever read. Most of the books I read lead up to that point of biting my fingernails to see what is going to happen and then it stops the tension before it actually gets to that point, something that is truly frustrating. I usually feel that the author could have carried the action and tension a little further, even without getting gory or to a point that would turn readers away. Eason found a way in Called to Protect to make every page a nail-biting experience. I felt a connection with Chloe from the very beginning. Her passion for her job and her passion for helping those around her pulled me in and had me rooting for her to succeed. I had a few questions about Blake and if I should really connect with him at first but it didn’t take long to find that connection and root for him as well. The plot line of this story is a very sensitive subject as it deals with human trafficking. As much as we would like to say it doesn’t exist, it does and we have to do what we can to keep it from expanding. Without giving anything away, I loved how it played out. It wasn’t a quick unrealistic ending, each character brought exactly what they were supposed to at just the right moment to let the scene come together perfectly. The ending is left open for the next in the series and I feel certain it will deal with Penny, Chloe’s cousin and after the little we read of her here I can’t wait to see what more is in store for these characters. I recommend this to readers that enjoy a fast paced suspense read that is going to leave you thirsting for more.
