An ok read for me. I love Grey's, so I figured I would give this a go! It was more medical than I anticipated. At times, I felt myself skimming pages to get to something other than all the medical and work drama.

3.5 Stars- So Here we are in my Favorite town, Marietta and now we are focused on the local hospital...
Can we say Marietta "Grey's" Montana Medical...
Two ER doctors... one wanting to find a home and Marietta seems just right. She has a vision and wants to rise up the management chain...The other visiting ER doctor is in Marietta to help a friend. He takes a liking with the Town, ER and this new pretty doctor...In Fact, he may just throw his hat in the ring for a promotion so he can stay in Marietta.
Only problem... Both of these romantically wanting docs... are up for the same job!

An excellent start to a new series in my favorite fictional small town of Marietta. This is a bit of a departure from the cowboys we've come to love in the past. This series features doctors both at work at the hospital and outside of it. Patricia Fischer is a new author tome and I really enjoyed her style.
Dr. Lucy Davidson is very focused. Not only with giving exceptional medical care but also growing the new facility she's a director for. Dr Thomas McAvoy is the new ER doc who has taken a temporary position. At first he thought he'd be out of there as soon as possible but he finds that not only does he find the slower pace of the ER calming but he's also enjoying his new relationship with Dr. Lucy and it's definitely worth pursuing. Things seem to be going really well until they find out they are competing for the same job.
I recommend this one.

Loved, loved this medical romance. A start of a new series that takes place in Marietta Hospital between two ER Doctors. Both are new to Marietta and wanting a fresh start. Dr Lucy is looking for a forever place where Dr Thomas is working for a traveling group of doctors and just doing a favor for a friend. Both can not deny their sexual chemistry but will it last working in the same department.
Patricia Fischer did a great job with the medical aspect of the story, I'm an old ER nurse and it brought back many memories for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, including Jade. All with pasts that they all need to overcome. I look forward to reading more in this series.

A great start to what promises to be a captivating series. With real life situations, relatable characters and the perfect amount of tension and innuendo to keep the story moving at a rapid pace. I believe the author has created a story that can only whet the appetite for more from the series...and as always with Marietta, Montana, there's no shortage of familiar characters to keep you invested in its residents.
This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

This is an engaging story of re-inventing one’s life decisions to include possible love. Drs. Lucy Davidson and Thomas McAvoy have a growing attraction in starts and stops as life, other relationships and misunderstandings interrupt what could be a loving future. Working and living side-by-side should provide ample opportunity but their pasts and its intrusion keeps a simple progression to live behind road blocks and detours.

Resisting the Doctor is the delightful first in this brand new series, Marietta Medical. The book following the lives of Lucy Davidson and Thomas McAvoy; hardworking doctors with a soul-deep love for healing others; yet their own lives haven’t always been sunshine and roses.
The plot was on target, and the characters were likeable and engaging. I also liked that the storyline had a mixture of fun, wit, romance and eventually love. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves some incredibly HOT physical action with their romance (I know I sure do), and a wonderful HEA too!
I’m very much looking forward to the next in the series.

Resisting the Doctor is the first book in a new medical series based in Marietta, Montana. I love the fast-paced emergency room scenes and medical dialogue. The story deals with past traumatic events that impact the current lives of the characters in the book. I like how the author includes the struggles of mixing personal and professional relationships. This is a very current read. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. .

Lucy and Thomas’s story was really an emotional read, they had both been through some stuff that left their bodies with scars. And as you get to know them you grow to care about both characters.
Understanding some of the medical stuff in the ER, and in the medical files that Lucy was trying to get completed and up to date was a little hard
Awe but the love story was there and it had some sizzle so I would only recommend this one to adults.

Two new doctors, Dr. Lucy Davidson and Dr. Thomas McAvoy, start out butting heads in Marietta Medical ER when it comes to a drunk driving accident victim. But they soon find themselves becoming attracted to each other which might not be the best idea since they work together.
Lucy and Thomas are both working temporary positions at Marietta Medical. Lucy is working as the temporary director and if everything goes as planned, she could soon see herself in a permanent position. But it seems someone is out to make her job more difficult. Thomas is the new emergency room physician. He is only in town until he finishes helping his friend Jade make repairs to her father’s house before she sells it. When things start heating up with Lucy, Thomas just might change his plans and stay in Marietta.
This was a good story, but in the beginning, during the ER scene, I spent a lot of time googling words. I don’t know anything about doctors, hospitals or medical terminology. So, it did slow me down a little bit. But once I got past that part the story started to flow really well. I can tell the author has a lot of medical knowledge or did thorough research to get details like that. I liked how Lucy and Thomas were both stubborn and set in their ways and how they eventually found a way to put their differences aside to get to know each other. There are also some very steamy intimate scenes in this book too. I look forward to reading the rest of this series.

Resisting the Doctor is the first book in a new medical line in the Marietta lexicon. It's also a departure from the generally cozy feel of the typical Marietta book. Neither Lucy nor Thomas are native to Marietta, for a start. And, while we have had doctors before as main characters, the emphasis wasn't on the medical community.
Unfortunately, the feel of this book is a significant departure from the usual Marietta fare. There is a sharply political bent to the book, a huge amount of pop culture references, as well a a significant leap in the sexual content (which has usually been fairly tame). While my geeky little heart did like some of the references, others were of no help to me. But, the constant drumbeat of sexism was a huge turn off.
As characters, Thomas and Lucy both went through hugely traumatic events in their lives which shaped them into the doctors they are today. That was a plus for the book. But, neither seemed to deal with those issues well and, in the case of Lucy, it took looking into a mirror and hating what she saw to make her realize what she was doing. At least, both had character arcs that allowed them room to grow. Secondary characters Jade and Junior were over the top which did not help the book.
The book wasn't as engaging as I normally find for Marietta-based books, but I am curious as to where this new series will lead.

WOW!! I was blown away while reading Resisting the Doctor by Patricia W. Fischer, the first book in her Marietta Medical series. This wonderful story has two nerdy ER doctors attracted to each other, sharing sizzling chemistry, with only a couple of problems; she’s his boss and he is temporarily working in Marietta. Dr. Lucy Davidson is young looking and struggles to be taken seriously; sexism is alive and well, as she works to become the permanent ER director. Dr. Thomas McAvoy came to Marietta to help a friend who saved his life but realizes the slower pace of this assignment might be a good fit as he still struggles with overcoming the damages he sustained in his near fatal attack. After years of not finding the yin to their yang could Lucy and Thomas have found their life partners?
I enjoyed the strength Lucy had in facing the world, not wanting to live on the laurels of her siblings. She fit in well with the ER team and I loved the way she proved her ninja skills, taking care of a rebellious drunk patient. Sometimes, it’s still hard to be taken seriously when you are a woman. I could associate with Lucy not wanting to ask for help but liked the manner in which Ms. Fischer handled Thomas finding a way to give her that help without taking anything away from her. Thomas had his own demons but I loved the way he found coping mechanisms to deal with them and open up to Lucy about them.
I loved this book and didn’t want to put this book down, reading it in one day. Ms. Fischer wrote a wonderful story that drew me in, not letting me go until I turned the last page. I highly recommend this book to other readers and can’t wait for the next book in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

The first book in the Marietta Medical series Resisting the Doctor by Patricia W. Fischer a great start to a new series. I can tell already this will be a favorite series of mine. Likable characters, great dialogue and a storyline that pulled me in from the first page. I totally look forward to reading the next book in this series and more by Patricia W. Fischer.

For a small town Marietta, Montana certainly has grown even in the few years that I’ve been reading stories and series featuring my favorite fictional small town setting. Over those years the small hospital in Marietta has been mentioned in several stories. Some improvements made, a few new doctors being brought in but nothing dedicated exclusively to the staff, doctors, nurses, techs and just everyday people who make that hospital run as smoothly as it does… until now with the Marietta Medical series.
This new series starts off with Resisting the Doctor which brings us two dedicated, competent and extremely stubborn doctors. Thomas is a doctor who travels to assignments on a temporary basis. He’s a talented ER doctor who doesn’t put down roots, and he’s happy with his life… for the most part. After the attack though he’s beginning to second guess his decisions – and after meeting Lucy those questions are even larger. Lucy is a survivor, a fighter and a skilled doctor. Right now she’s in Marietta as the ER director, or at least on a temporary stint until or if her position is made permanent. She is stubborn enough to believe she can do it all herself, even when she knows she needs help. One disruptive, destructive jerk of a patient one night gives new meaning to a difficult 24 hour shift. While Lucy does her best to remain professional, even when Thomas steps in to offer “help” she remains in charge… in a whole heck of a lot of ways. Never ever, ever underestimate the abilities of a tiny woman who knows her way around martial arts. That night will change everything for Thomas and Lucy — now they just have to figure out how to stay in the same location before they lose it all.
Resisting the Doctor is one heck of a story. Lucy and Thomas are both strong characters with past events shaping their current lives. I liked them as a couple and individually and their romance is sweet and steamy in all the right places. There are strong secondary characters in this story – some new, some we know far too well, like one meddling gossip that I, personally, cannot stand. One secondary character, Jade, is really hard for me to get a handle on. She’s holding on to some deep pain, she’s snarky, rude, attitude-filled and most times not a very nice woman. Yet, there is something that tells me there is more there than meets the eye, I’ll be interested to learn more of her story one day. I enjoyed this new world build around Marietta’s hospital and loved seeing old friends around town. If you’re hooked on Marietta, Montana stories then your’e going to love this new series. I would definitely recommend it to any Contemporary Romance reader.
