I would recommend this book for this genre for anyone who is thinking of branching out and trying to find something different.
The combination of fantasy with a bit of adult bookish behavior was really nice. It was a fast and fun read.
Nothing of really high standard, but that is also nice sometimes.
I would recommend it.
So good I read it twice! A delicious story with a perfect ending. This story definitely hooked me and I am eager to read the others books in the series.
Wicked Masquerade by Diana Rose Wilson was just an okay read for me. Guess it was not for me. I would give it three stars.
Wicked it was!
Wicked masquerade was, somehow, nothing like I had imagined. Shy little Ursa getting into the world of dominating women.. Archer having actual wings? That last part was a bit much, but the story was pretty good! I might’ve found something new I like!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy of the book in exchange for a review. The book is Wicked Masquerade by Diana Rose Wilson.
This is quite new author for me, and I will say that the writing style is awesome and well written. Maybe only sad thing was that this book is too short. Erotica can be hard to write, but in this book the style was gorgeous and make me happy to read this. I have read so many other books in my life, even erotica and this was one of the best. Other thing than writing style was that there were characters with interesting chemistry between them. And pony play was something what you usual not see in the books even thought you like read quite lot of the books where themes are bdsm etc. I hoped that the book will be longer but maybe someday we will get much longer book with similar themes or age play or something else.
It doesn't takes so many times to read because quite short, but still it wa erotical book with some nice and hot scenes. Sometimes I had feelings that Ursula was just like any other women in this World and sometimes it was also quite annoying when character is just like any other people or should I say woman in the World. But sometimes this is also the best start in the book, when the characters are quite normal people even thought the themes are like bdsm, D&S etc.
Quick, sexy HOT read. This story was written very well, I felt as if I was reading a book of several hundred pages, but then it ends to quickly.
A great read for fans of erotica. One of the best ones I have read in a long time.
Great story with a satisfying ending.
Can’t wait to read more in this series.
Thank you for providing me with a copy of your book for an honest review!
I fell in love with the cover of this book and knew it would be a great read from the description. I wasn't disappointed.
Ursa Myller is getting ready for a masquerade party wearing a very unrevealing outfit her friend and hostess of the party, Marcie, helped pick out for the occasion. Almost sick with nerves, Ursa doesn't know what to expect from the sex party she's been convinced to attend. When the limo turns up outside, there is no backing out. She's given an envelope which contains her weekend identity, a key to open certain doors authorised by the hostess, a token to be given to a person of choice and more importantly, the rules which include a safe word. What has she gotten herself into?
Ursa lacks something that the other women in the room don't - confidence. It's up to her find a man to fulfil her desires, but the one she has her eyes on, a dark confident stranger in a cupid's outfit, has already turned down plenty of other women. Scared of being rejected, she spends time wandering around the large estate to discover that couples have already hooked up and aren't concerned with hiding their passion.
When her cupid comes up behind her and confesses that he's been waiting for her, she's in shock. The party has now begun.
Ursa was easy to relate too which made her a very likeable character. I felt that she got over her lack of confidence too quickly and suddenly became this BDSM expert, especially when they went into the rumpus room. I know she was hiding behind a mask and so her inner goddess came out, but it could have taken a few more steps for someone who hasn't been with another person in years.
The wings were a bit confusing, if they were real then it changed the book genre quickly and took focus off the story. It left alot of untold questions which may not have been necessary.
Overall the book was a great read!
I greatly enjoyed the fantasy of this book. Seeing the main character come into her own and build confidence was amazing. I also haven't seen a lot of this out there, the metamorphosis into a Domme. I really loved reading this. Can't wait to see what else this author has out there
I’m a fan of erotica but I was a little lost with some of the activities happening. Other than that it was a well written story and I suggest it for people who enjoy this sort of scene.
This is a faced paced erotic love story. Running a bookstore Ursa met Marcie who showed a mutual interest in BDSM. Sensing Ursa’s low self-esteem and knowing her interest in BDSM. Marcie invited her to a Masquerade Ball that way she could literally hide behind a mask. Ursa would have the power to choose for herself who and what she wanted. All she had to do was offer one of her coins to someone she wanted. They would accept or decline it was that easy right. The one man Ursa wanted had already turned down many women. He made it clear to her that he was waiting for her to offer him a coin. And so he was hers for the whole weekend. Not wanting to make the parting uncomfortable she snuck out before he awoke. And she could go back to her life. Knowing a man like that would never want her in the real world. The rest is for you to discover and you don't have to hide behind a mask.
I’m surprised how much I got into this story! Aside from the heavily sexual atmosphere and themes, the psychological aspect of this book is extremely important! The main character is not perfectly explained but we get a glimpse of her thoughts and we follow her sensual journey that will lead her to discover much more about her!
I can’t wait to read the following books!
When I received this book, I wasn't quite sure about it because it wasn't exactly something that I normally pick up but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved it. I felt a little like protagonist Ursa walking into her first Masquerade. As she walked up to the limo, her mask on, nervous and shaky, so too was I, nervous about what was to come. But Wilson's writing style seemed effortless and instantly I began to enjoy the tension. Overall, I loved this book, so much so that I am happy to learn that it's a series, one I cannot WAIT to jump back into.
I have two issues - the first is how quickly Ursa goes from shy and "oh my god, I'm going home" to "I'm a Domme now, let's do this." I don't think it felt natural. I know, obviously, very little about these situations and scenes, but there was such (well written) build up about her nerves and her anxieties and then they're just instantly dissolved. I would have liked them to be chipped away a bit more. I mean, it didn't stop me from reading the entire novel, and loving the entire novel, but still.
The second were the wings. Like. Maybe there will be more about them later, but it felt like a plot device poorly used. And then forgotten about. I like a little fantasy in the real world, just like any other girl who hopes all those paranormal romances could be real, but like, don't forget about them?
What I loved was Wilson's attention to detail. Every single scene was intimately scripted out from the feel of fingers on skin to the emotions in Ursa's head. I loved the extravagance of it all. I loved how there were those who loved the drama and those who just loved the scene. I loved how Diana Rose Wilson wrote a love story in the middle of a weekend long Masquerade and it felt real and authentic and oh so yummy. I'd read many, many more books from her.
*Special thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I am not reviewing this title, but it keeps showing up in the “give feedback” area. I no longer want it to show up.
Wow! This book was H.O.T.! This was not quite my scene, but I could see how it might appeal to others! I would give this book a solid 4 stars!
I would like to thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review
I loved, loved , loved this! The characters were great, loved that Cupid was sensitive to Ursula's nervousness in diving into this new world. Especially liked that there was a story and not just sex scenes after sex scenes...tho thats not bad lol.
Above all, I loved that there was a HEA.....Im a sucker for those.
Looking forward to reading more of Dianas books!!
Enjoyed this read. Finished it in a couple of hours only!! The characters were awesome. Ursula is a shy newbie but has great promise. The Cupid in this book is hot and just right in my book. The masquerade is just what Ursula needs to get out of her comfort zone. I would have liked more of a prologue. The scenes were hot!!!! Let's not get off this train if we don't have to!!!
I received this ARC from the publisher at my request for an honest review via Net Galley. Thanks NET Galley!!!!
Ursa is an unassuming clerk at a book shop, but has a shared interest in kink with her friend, who invites her to a weekend masquerade. There, under masks and a hidden identity, Ursa is able to indulge in her wild fantasies and unleash her inner domme.
There is a lot of attention paid to the details in Ursa's character and life, as well as the details for the weekend getaway. The sex is hot and the kink is well and lovingly described. Even kinks that I usually don't read about are so well done that it made me just as interested as the characters. As the start of a series, this definitely has enough of an ending that needs further exploration. It would be interesting to see how things develop in future novels.
Other than my personal dislike for the word cum, which is used throughout, I thoroughly enjoyed this story.
The leads are well fleshed out and easy to like. The chemistry between them was smoking hot. Scenes involved femdom and maledom... and pegging, swoon!
The pony play was nothing like I've read before and totally delightful. I felt like I was at the races!
As a lover of femdom, I was going to jump right into book 2, but given the I'm not a fan of the wicked ex causing trouble, I don't think it will be my cuppa.
