First book that I have read by Amanda Prowse and I was addicted to it from the first page. Anna was living a lovely life with her Mum and brother Joe, it didn't matter that she didn't know who her dad was, her Mum more than made up for it and she dearly loved Joe. She didn't have any friends but that didn't matter either as she was quite content with the life she was living. That was until Joe moved out and tragedy struck.

Joe came home to look after her but there was often no food in the house, no one to wash her clothes or look after her and in the end she felt she was the one looking after Joe. But life was about to throw another curveball and she found herself living at her Aunt's home. This was awful, the only good thing was her cousin, but he too went away. Anna knew her Aunt didn't want her there, she made it pretty obvious so after running away she found herself living in a Care home.

At 18 Anna could no longer live in the Care home so it was time to stand on her own two feet and make a life for herself. She found a good job and a place to live and finally found friends. Life was looking up but after a workplace incident, Anna made the decision to stand up for herself and so with a new job and another place to live Anna seemed content.

Still that special someone her Mum told her she would find was still eluding her until she was caught in a lift that's doors wouldn't open and a handsome young gentleman talking her out of a panic attack.

Theo had never met anyone like Anna and after spending just a short time in her presence in the lift of his family's building, he was determined to get to know her better as he had never felt as close to anyone as he did Anna, she made him feel so many things, but most of all, she made him feel like a true friend, and he was going to make sure that she felt the same way, after all, he had only ever had two friends in his life.

This was a beautiful emotional story, and I was so engrossed in it, I didn't want it to end.

Thanks to Netgalley and HarperCollins Publishers Australia for the opportunity to read and review this book.
