At the beginning, my initial thoughts were that I knew exactly where this was going and it wasn’t going to excite me. BUT… several chapters in, things changed course and I got a big surprise. I don’t want to say to much because going in blind works best.
But, I will say that I love that we hear from different folks which keeps shaking things up and keeping the reader/listener on her toes. Who are we to believe? Both sides just sound so true… Up until the end, I really was up in the air. The pace slows a bit towards the end but the actual end does a great job of tying the ends up.
The narrator does a wonderful job portraying the different characters.
Lies, lies, lies! If you think you know where this one is going, think again! Lucy Dawson did an amazing job with this one! Wow!
Great read. Well written. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on my review.
Oh my goodness what a fabulous, intriguing read this was. It’s been a while since a book has blown me away like this one has. Even at the end I wasn’t sure what had gone on but I think I get it. Utter brilliant,
White Lies by Lucy Dawson is a fast paced psychological thriller that keeps you guessing till the end
Alex and her husband having been going through a rough patch. Her husband, Rob, cheated on her with a coworker. Alex goes out of town on a girls trip to Ibiza and had revenge sex with a guy she meets at s club. She tells her husband about it and then she realizes the guy she slept with is actually a teenaged patient at her practice. This book goes back and forth with alternating views that keep you guess as to the actual truth about the affair. My only complaint is at the end of the book, the reader never really finds out who was telling the truth.
this is my first read from Lucy Dawson, I absolutely loved it and will hunt her other books out. I was hooked from the first chapter. I really enjoy psychological thrillers and this ticked all my boxes. I found at times I was rooting for Alex and at other times I was wondering if she really was crazy. Alex seems like a normal ordinary woman, a doctor, a mum who makes one bad choice while on a girls weekend that could possibly cause her some problems. However, this ends up nearly destroying her family, career, and life. Watching the ripple effects and seeing lives on the edge is engaging and kept me hooked. The end did seem rushed, which was a little disappointing as so much effort was put into setting the scene and characters throughout the book. White Lies is a great read, totally recommend!
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
I have a hard time rating this book. The premise has been done a LOT in domestic thrillers so I wasn't super excited to read another he said/she said novel. However, the set up was really well done. The alternating chapters were really well written and I always believed whichever character was speaking. It's been a few days since I finished it and I'm still not sure who I think was telling the truth. For that alone, the novel is worth reading.
That being said, the ending was INCREDIBLY disappointing. It seemed to come straight out of left field and there were some much better ways this story could have been resolved that I would have much rather seen. Read it for the unreliable narrators. Skip it if you can't handle endings that don't fit the rhythm of the book.

This was a great book. The story was captivating and kept me interested throughout. Can’t wait for more from this author.
This is a satisfying read. Both Alex and Jonathan can be unlikeable at times but there are also instances that you can't help but sympathize with the stories they are telling. Totally gripping with unpredictable twist.
I'm still not sure what I thought of this story. It was a good read, that I enjoyed, but it left me with a confused, he said, she said feeling without and real ending so to speak of.
Great storyline with good strong characters. Very well written. I would recommend this book to anyone.
This book was ok. It had my attention at first and then most it's luster.
Thanks for the advanced copy, Netgalley!
Wow what an entertaining book. Imagine having one silly night of fun, and then the sillyness turns up at your work the next day. And the next...... What can you do if nobody will believe your side of the story?
Thrilling and entertaining read. Highly recommended.
Absolutely amazing psychological thriller, a real page turner, could not put this one down, fantastic!!
Dr Alex Inglis is horrified when she discovers that her one night stand in Ibiza is a teenage patient of hers. Johnathan Day insists she pursued him and she says it is all a figment of his imagination - so who to believe? This is a tale and a half as I veered from one account to another and back again! Page turner definitely and very fast too in my haste to find out who is lying or not. Hard to put down, gripping all the way through to the final page despite no one really coming out of this story well as they were all as unpleasant as each other! Take it on holiday or read before bed, but do read it - you won’t be disappointed.
This is hands down one of the BEST Pyschological Thrillers I have read this year!:Do yourself a huge favor and just read it!! A billion stars!!
This books was awesome!!! The plot twist is so engrossing that I was guessing what would happen next the whole book. Truly a He Said, She Said story. We meet Alex who after a drunken night, makes a bad decision on a Girls Trip. This decision plays out to where you don't know who's telling the truth. Great read!!!
This book was great! Alex is a doctor who has a one night stand to get back at her husband. What she didn't know is that Jonathan an obsessed teenager would try and ruin her life at any cost. Alex ends up getting suspended while being investigated and goes into a depressive state. Not showering, eating or engaging with people. Her husband Rob calls her boss David over to check her out.....somehow Jonathan ends up dead not far from Alex's home.... she has a strange feeling she will be blamed. And honestly I thought it was her too!!! Come to find out David her boss did it and made it look easy too.... this book was wild but shows you exactly how people rush to judgement without knowing the entire story or facts. Everyone though Alex was guilty of sexual abuse and misconduct but in reality it was all a lie fabricated by a lovesick teenager who wanted a relationship with someone who didn't have the same type of feelings.
I don't know where to start with this book. On the one hand, I found it to be so unbelievable and yet I could not put it down and read it in two days. Alex is a GP and the story revolves around her sleeping with a lad while away on holiday. Coming back to work she realises he is a patient and is only 17. But then they sleep together every opportunity and each tells the story of the other one being obsessed. I found myself liking all the characters but finding them extremely difficult to understand why they would continue, especially Ålex. A really good read that I genuinely could not put down.
