Noble Vol 2 is getting somewhere ... slowly. Now if the pacing would pick up (along with the art quality), I'd be happier.

I am a fan of this series. The art is colourful and engaging. The story and plot engaging. I like the everything about this series. I will be following this title.

I’m not sure I entirely follow everything that’s going on in Noble, except that a lot of stuff gets blown up, which is pretty easy to follow. Having said that, I like the second volume more than the first, because Noble’s character (he’s really noble) is coming into focus, as is his relationship with Astrid, which is largely based on sex, as the best relationships always are.

Astrid starts this volume expressing her frustration with dealing so much death for Lorena. She’d like to know what Lorena did to her husband, David Powell, a/k/a Noble. For that matter, so would I. And so would Noble. In the first volume and part of the second, Noble doesn’t remember much of his past and doesn’t really trust Lorena or even Astrid. He also doesn’t trust Foresight or DeMarcus Mayes, but he probably shouldn’t. Dr. Mayes apparently put a contraption in Noble’s brain, which isn’t the sort of thing a doctor should do without asking permission.

Noble shouldn’t even trust himself, given his inability to control his powers or emotions. Dude blows stuff up. A lot. A real anger management problem, Noble has.

Noble’s memory, if not his anger, improves as the story moves along, which leads to a sex scene. That’s always a good time. If kids couldn’t learn about sex through comic books, they’d have to learn by sneaking copies of dirty magazines from under their older brother’s bed, like I did.

Anyway, Lorena has kind of a thing for Astrid, which plays into the plot at some point. I don’t know if it’s an erotic thing, but it doesn’t matter because Astrid only has the hots for her astronaut/superhero husband, even when he doesn’t remember her.

The art is nice and the artistic quality is consistent throughout the volume. Maybe DC should try to poach the artist.

The ending to this volume is, well, I don’t know what’s going on at the ending, but it’s not really an ending, so maybe volume 3 will explain. Anyway, I see this volume as an improvement over the first one, and maybe by volume 3 the story will start making more sense. If not, I at least look forward to another sex scene.

I compared Noble V1: God Shots to the X-Men movie Logan or the TV series Gifted but this second volume comes right after Black Panther has made Afrofuturism a utopian response to the violent struggles of African Americans that birthed movements like #blacklivesmatter.

Noble is not quite the political statement that Black Panther is, however, I appreciate the strong role models of African Americans in this series. David finally remembers his wife Astrid and his son Eli. He is committed to his family and to being a present father in his son's life, but he is also aware that his new powers give him the obligation to save the world, so he understands the "with great power comes great responsibility" motto from Spiderman.

Granted this volume ends right before the action starts, however, the artwork and the vibrant colors of this comic really create an aesthetically pleasing story.

This high octane graphic novel is the second one of the series, starring heros with super powers, agents trying to control them. Heros trying to live out their own lives and do what they think is right, and the Earth under threat from external forces. After you read the first book, join in the series with this edition.

'Noble Vol. 2: Never Events' by Brandon Thomas with art by Roger Robinson and Jamal Igle is a title I really want to like, but it's just not quite there yet for me.

David Powell is back from hiding in South America with a new suit. He still doesn't know who he is, but his wife Astrid wants to find him and help him remember. With the unlikely help of Lorena Payne, she looks for him. Meanwhile Dr. Mayes has his own group of enhanced humans that is trying to recruit David.

We get some more backstory on Astrid and her weird powers. We see some more of David in his life before. The whole thing jumps around so much that it often leaves me confused about what is happening and what has already happened.

I really want to like this title more. I love the idea of this book, and the art is great. The characters are all pretty good. I'm just so confused by the storytelling. Still I keep trying, and I keep hoping for this title.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Lion Forge and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

Noble Vol. 2 continues the saga of David, AKA Noble, and his attempts to gain back his memories while simultaneously trying to gain control over his powers. This series is part of a bigger universe that Lion Forge has created in an attempt to counter Marvel and DC’s universes. If you’re curious about that, look into Catalyst Prime a bit more and you should find everything you need!
I actually feel really bad that I didn’t end up liking this series more than I did. I can’t even express how much potential this series has. Plus I want a new company to come out with a comprehensive universe to counter all of the big names out there (come on Lion Forge, I still have faith that you can do it!).
The characters are pretty decent, they just need some rounding out, I also feel like we should be given more reasons to care about them and root for them (besides the plot they’re in). They just feel a bit too flat as they stand right now. But the potential is there. They’re unique, they’re diverse, and they could totally be a power couple given half a chance.
I love the artwork and character designs for this series. Noble and his suit look absolutely fantastic, but unfortunately the plot so far hasn’t supported him well enough for that to go anywhere. I haven’t seen a suit look that nice in a while though, so I do hope they sort things out, as I’d love to see this series take off.
It hurts that this series isn’t as good as I keep hoping it is. I excitedly read the first volume, hoping it’d be a hit and help launch Catalyst Prime. Then I read volume two, hoping it’d at least sort out the issues from the first volume. I’ll probably read the third volume too, should that come out. I just can’t bring myself to give up on this series.

I'm still unsure, whether I like Noble or not... I read volume one, and now volune 2 and it still leaves loads questions. I am intrigued, however, and curious how the story will develop further.
